BNP List Linked to Fire Bomb Attack

World | Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 8:42:24 am PST

Last week a list of members of the fascist British National Party was leaked to the Internet, probably leading to this fire bomb attack in West Yorkshire.

Police are investigating a suspected fire bomb near the home of a man whose details were on a list of BNP members published on the internet.

The 26-year-old man left the BNP in 2007 but his personal details were among 12,000 other names on a contact list kept by the far-right party. He is self employed and has a young son. He was not at home when the explosion occurred.

Eyewitnesses described hearing an explosion in the residential street in West Yorkshire, close to the front of the man’s house. A parked car, believed to be a Peugeot belonging to his neighbour, was rapidly consumed by flames.

One possibility being investigated by police is that the explosion was connected to the highly-publicised leak earlier this week of the BNP’s contact list.

Speaking at the scene, David Exley, Kirklees organiser for the BNP, said: “I spoke to the police this morning and they confirmed that a car had been firebombed last night and one of the lines of inquiry is the person who lives next door to [the person] whose car it was is on the list on the internet.

“I can confirm that the gentleman, whose house the car was outside, is not a member of the BNP and is not a current supporter of the BNP. That list covers everybody who has ever contacted our head office for whatever reason.”

One Merseyside Police officer has been suspended pending an investigation by his force to establish the facts after his name appeared on the list, because police officers are banned from joining the BNP. Rod Lucas, a TalkSport DJ, was told by the station that there were "no plans" to continue using his services after his list appeared on the same list. He said that he had joined the BNP for journalistic reasons.

I think it's great that people take these fascists as seriously as they do- unfortunately, we can't say the same about the islamists, which is exactly why people are turning to the fascists. *sigh*

18 Sunlight  Sun, Nov 23, 2008 8:54:39am

Interesting that such a thing makes international headlines. We woke up a 2am to an explosion in our street... called 911 because we thought the house across the street was on fire. But it turned out to be an SUV set on fire - blazing to the sky and periodically exploding inside. So I would say the a#%hole drug dealers (they think it was some kind of gang thing) don't care who they injure or kill or whose house they burn down while they sleep. A police friend says the only difference between the drug gangs and the jihadis is that the drug people have some sense of wanting to come out alive at the other side of the incident. But dealers who get high on their own (meth) supply go crazy and will do anything to get money or win an argument in their sick world.

28 Sharmuta  Sun, Nov 23, 2008 9:03:27am

re: #25 Dianna

Because the list wasn't a member list- it was a contact list:

"I can confirm that the gentleman, whose house the car was outside, is not a member of the BNP and is not a current supporter of the BNP. That list covers everybody who has ever contacted our head office for whatever reason.

"It could be this man got an information pack, looked at it, decided it's not for him and thrown it away. But unfortunately somebody has irresponsibly put this list on the internet."

A person who will go to the extreme of firebombing is not likely to take the time to think about what the difference is between a contact list and a membership list.

The guise of the BNP is to use the "immigration" issue for their 'purity of purpose'.
This is a powerful motivator leading the wanton sheep who believe this 'purity' ideology into the fascist acceptance.
Tories need to take heed here. They are losing their constituent base because of Islamic tolerance and acceptance, not because of immigration.

Indeed- from the Who would be part of the BNP? Thanos linked earlier:

Sylvia Trower, from West Sussex, sips tea from a BNP mug around a picnic table with her family, each of whom has represented the party in local elections. "The immigration levels in places around us is horrendous," she says grimly. "They're coming in their hordes, getting everything for nothing. We're getting infested."

"Even the Sikhs and the Hindus don't like Muslims," adds Richard, her middle-aged son. He has brought his daughters, Emily, two and Gemma, three, whom he hopes will grow up staunch BNP supporters.

I believe the Brits are tolerant enough to accept immigrants- it's the political parties ignoring the problems of islamic immigration that feeds the BNP.

Well actually

Tories need to take heed here. They are losing their constituent base because of Islamic tolerance and acceptance, not because of immigration.

a lot of those Muslims deserve blame as well as they apparently aren't interested in assimilation with GB. They don't want to be BRITISH, they just want what the Brit's have and can't get it wherever it is they come from.

80 windbrother  Sun, Nov 23, 2008 9:51:09am

I wouldn't assume that the incident was caused by the leaking of the list. First rule of science: correlation is *not* causation. The individual in question may have had drug or gang ties that motivated this particular attack. Or it could very well be a case of mistaken identity where the target was someone else.

Remember the Bonaparte quote (which has many variants): Never ascribe to malice, that which can be explained by incompetence.

It's just you.... Obviously Joe the Plumber being a republican and a conservative has no life worthy of protection whereas the democrat/socialist workers who investigated him are clearly extremely valuable assets to their community and this "suspensions without pay" is a truly draconian penalty out of any proportion to the nature of their highly patriotic actions.

Do I really need to add a sarc tag to that?

82 realwest  Sun, Nov 23, 2008 9:51:54am

re: #59 Sharmuta
Indeed you are correct - as I pointed out in my #79, I do think it's more a question of Muslims not wanting to assimilate.
AFAIK, the Sikhs and Hindu's have assimilated quite a bit and actually seem to enjoy being "British".

83 Gretchen  Sun, Nov 23, 2008 9:52:01am

While I don't agree with the BNP, I think it is interesting that while they are the "fascists", the people who don't agree with them are using fire bombs to intimidate them--little fascist on fascist incident?

In order to maintain a free society shouldn't we be willing to non-violently let individuals harbor all sorts of views, even when most find those views unpalatable?

"released" or spread purley by, I believe political motivations, they give a slap on the wrist to the bums who did the dirty deeds.
I know NOTHING Lefty's do should surprise me, especially since all Joe did was ask a simple effin' question, but still, the lightness of the penalities really bothers me a lot.

NO, we are not next. NEVER. Not as long as Charles keeps up the fight against all fascists, Islamic and "other" and never as long as I have the strength to speak out. I REFUSE to go quietly into that night.

91 Jhn1  Sun, Nov 23, 2008 10:10:32am

Too bad certain Islamist's addresses can't be quietly added to the available BNP contact lists.

See if they get away with firebombing those addresses.

"It's unbelievable what's happened in Glasgow. One in the belly, three in the pram. Gipsies everywhere begging in the streets. Rapes and murders all by immigrants. I'm really worried. I think we're going to hell. That's why I joined the BNP."

/Hat tip- Thanos

I'm in Glasgow. So far, never been intimidated by a single 'gipsy'. Plenty of 'neds' though - but they are natives. Rapes and murders all by immigrants? There have been a few highly publicised cases recently, but the vast majority of these kind of crimes are committed by people who were born and bred here.

I can't speak for most other parts of the UK that much, but the picture painted of life in Glasgow here bears little relation to reality. Fascists always convince themselves that things are much worse than they already are, to justify what they would like to do next.

PS Fascists always seem to have this massive problem with 'gypsies'. I don't think I've even seen one all year, apart from the ones that run the travelling carnivals.

Very true, when I worked with access to public records, unauthorized access and or release was cause for termination.

re: #56 Dianna

That was the prediction I read a couple months ago. I haven't seen anything to refute it.

I wonder how the global warming crowd is going to blame this on humans, and particularly Americans?

Dianna, it's not global warming any more.
it's "climate change" now to cover their bases.
and yes it is still our fault.
(so insists a lib i talked to recently)

No. Most of my neighbors aren't the kind of people who'd do that.

I live in the Los Gatos mountains and ... surprise, surprise... my neighbors are all conservative gun owners (they may be clutching a bible, too)

Now... if you go one ring beyond them... hold your nose.

What a mess. GB has far left-wing Commie fascists, and far right BNP fascists (but mostly far left Commies). All the major political parties are rife with anti-semetics, which means every political party is also racist to some extent.

And now we have this egrerious breech of privacy of people who contacted the BNP?
What is the veracity of these claims? Who keeps track of people that contact a political party? Would someone who complained to the BNP about their overt racism be on the list? And why would people lose their jobs for that?

Why don't they go the extra step and make the BNP and the Commies illegal? And might as well ostracize and fire anyone who contacts any far right or far left politicians or parties, which is basically every party in GB.
Obviously, none of the parties in GB are concerned with liberty and the freedoms we enjoy here in America and are, indeed, doing what they can to erode what little liberty they currently have.

GB is in dire straights.

the romany have been given a very bad deal in europe genocide under the nazi's and oppression to this very day. the fact that some of them break the law should be expected given how they are treated.

re: #97 yochanan

Bear in mind that, while people in Britain may speak of 'Gypsies', it doesn't necessarily follow that they're talking of Romani. The probability is much higher that the 'Gypsy' in question is a type of crusty traveller known across Britain as 'Pikies'.

The fact that that particular nomadic bunch get a hard time is more down to the fact that you even have to nail blancmange down around the bastards. I've never given a shit for whatever ethnic minority they claim to be a part of, they're still a bunch of theiving little bastards who'd steal your eyeballs and then have the cheek to come back and piss in the sockets.

re: #79 realwest

Realwest, Somehow, that is the logic we place on the Muslums HERE in the US.
Assimilation requires loyalty to our democratic society and constitutional law. We expect the good muslims to keep the muslim fascists in check here.
I don't think it is quite the same in the UK. They have bastardized their legal system with Sharia law. It removes the incentive for them to do anything else except to demand more of it.
The UK is giving it's citizens little empowerment to fight this. I also think it is the reason for it's society evolving to accept the extremist BNP party. Consider that they have no other party that agrees Sharia is inappropriate for the country.
I ask, if you were put in this same situation as a UK citizen, what would you do?

We here in our beloved USA need to safequard our legal system, our school system, and our civil rights to NOT let sharia law get ONE toe in the door.
Or, take a good look at the consequences.....the UK.

Glad to hear it Real. I won't live in a country that accepts Sharia law either.

re: #7 Charles

It's anybody's guess who did this. The BNP has lots of enemies, and not just among immigrant groups.

The group that makes the strongest enemy of the BNP is probably the Anti Nazi League, which I'm sorry to say is these days hard to distinguish from the Socialist Workers Party, having numerous of the same senior members, and my own experience suggests they rather like mucking in and baiting, which I don't believe helps.

103 Dom  Sun, Nov 23, 2008 3:45:21pm

(And surprise, surprise, plenty of wankers have assumed that this particular story is everything you need to know about this faraway unAmerican place. Way to go Logic Boy! lol Did you hear about the American who killed himself during a live internet stream. Those Americans, they just love killing themselves!)
