Good Morning Lizards. A little off topic, Richard Cohen writes an article for the Washington Post today titled,"Obama above the political fray"
I will spare you the drooling gushing over BHO.
He ends the artcle, by claiming that Obama will govern from neither the left nor center, but "Above it all."
There is no pretense left of objectivity.

One of those men, Shirwa Ahmed, is suspected of recruiting in the Minneapolis area and of being involved in a recent suicide bombing.

Its not like Dotster has a stellar record for ethics. Here's the first hit. Dotster named in massive cybersquatting suit.
Cybersquatting, the practice of registering domain names that may violate a company's trademark, is hardly new--it's been around for more than a decade...But this Dotster lawsuit involves allegations of a new twist on the concept: a registrar using its special status with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers to secure misspelled domains temporarily for a few days, measure the traffic, and then pay for only the ones that would be lucrative in terms of advertising.
Call Uncle RICO.

Merry Hanukkah from the White House!
The president and the first lady invited leaders of America's Jewish community for a Hanukkah reception at the White House next month - but raised more than a few eyebrows by putting a picture of a Christmas tree on the invitation.
The message reads that the couple "requests the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception," written beneath an image of a Clydesdale horse hauling a Christmas fir along the snow-dappled drive to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

The ego and delusionality cause me grave concerns about Obama.
He may not be all that bright, but I have to give him credit where it's due. If he really keeps Gates at secdef, and gives Larry Summers a big job dealing with economic matters, and hires that Jones guy for either national security advisor or homeland security chief, well...he's picking excellent people for some very important positions. Sending Rice to the UN, well, whatever. The UN sucks, and it sucked with Bolton there too.
Or his handlers are picking excellent people for important positions, and the handlers will make sure that the grownups have all the decision making power.
It's really out of character for a narcissistic empty suit Peter Principle person to hire such strong underlings...but THANK HEAVENS it's happening now, for whatever reason.

Bin Laden Driver Leaves Guantanamo
Salim Ahmed Hamdan, who has been held at Guantanamo Bay for years, is being moved to his homeland to serve the final weeks of his sentence, sources told CNN. The Associated Press reported that he had left Guantanamo Bay, quoting a senior defense official.
Yemeni government sources told CNN they did not expect to receive Hamdan for seven to 10 days.
Hamdan was convicted by a military commission in August of a war crime -- providing material support to al Qaeda -- but was cleared of more serious terrorism conspiracy charges.
He was found guilty of being the terror leader's bodyguard and driver, and of receiving weapons training and transporting and delivering arms. However, the commission rejected charges that Hamdan conspired with others in carrying out al Qaeda attacks, including those of September 11, 2001.

. The Primitives may be making plans for the Thanksgiving Holiday:
'Federal authorities are warning law enforcement personnel of a possible terror plot against the New York City subway and train systems during the holiday season, and police are beefing up security in preparation. An internal memo obtained by The Associated Press says the FBI has received a "plausible but unsubstantiated" report that al-Qaida terrorists in late September may have discussed attacking the subway system.
A person briefed on the matter, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the intelligence-gathering work, said the threat may also be directed at the passenger rail lines running through New York, such as Amtrak and the Long Island Rail Road, which are particularly busy with Thanksgiving holiday travelers.'

re: #96 funky chicken
Good afternoon, Lizards.
Unfortunately, I tend to believe that the last thing The Exalted One will do is actually listen to any of these people.
There are two possible reasons for picking people who do not agree with your worldview to work for you. One is that you are intellectually honest enough to know that you are not always going to be right. This is possible, but unlikely, with TEO, as his track record is one of someone who is supernaturally assured of his own brilliance.
The other reason is that, in the event of things going south on you in one or more areas, to have ready-made scapegoats close to hand you can cast blame on, and fire, without alienating those you regard as your true-believing allies. I find this to be a more likely rationale for TEO's appointments so far, as the posts he has announced are relatively speaking secondary ones, except for SecDef and SecState- and I find it interesting that he gave the latter post to someone he considers to have been wrong on almost as many things as he claims President Bush was in error on, notably Iraq.
I am, however, going to reserve judgment on his appointments overall until I see who he gets for Education and Energy. If those two posts go to "true believers" from the left, along with the highly-partisan and politicized Eric Holder at Justice, I look for the Obama Administration to be the fulfillment of every wet dream the left has ever had, on energy, law, "domestic terrorism", "multicultural education", and everything else.
Well, for at least the first two years, until his party loses control of both houses of Congress in 2010 the way they did in 1994, that is.
And even then, the crowd that came in with Bill Clinton in 1992 weren't set to over-reach like this group of "enlightened" Democratic leaders are.
cheers
eon

Further, I expect Michelle to be treated with the same respect given to Sarah Palin. I do expect screaming.
Let's start a list of things to say to LLL relatives during the thanksgiving meal:
1. He's my president now and I look forward to showing him the same respect that GWB has been shown over the last 8 years. (Ditto Michelle and the kids re: The Palins)
2. It will be fun to see the results of the change we get in washington now that the Democrats have taken control of congress... oh, wait.
3. It is so great to see that BHOs cabinet picks reflect his desire to change the administration and get rid of Washington insiders.
4. Wasn't it isnightful of Nanci Pelosi to observe that congress will now be more bi-partisan since the Democrats have nearly eliminated their opposition.
5. We should really respect diversity and freedom of religion or at least abstain from violence and coersion - like the proposition 8 protesters.
6. I really look forward to the new president restoring respect for the presidency in the international community. Like Zawahiri for instance.
7...

3. It is so great to see that BHOs cabinet picks reflect his desire to change the administration and get rid of Washington insiders.
The O was blathering about just that this morning by trumpeting the fact these people know the inside of how government works. Now that the empty suit is filling out it looks like it is all bullshit.

Few thoughts-
The Holy Land Foundation trial was thumping big win for the legal war on terrorism. The precedent of CAIR and their sister extremists being found part on an ongoing criminal conspiracy is a devastating blow. It may force CAIR to close.
We should point out that ideologically, CAIR MAS and the constellation of salafist Muslim groups are so close to al Qaeda in their outlook as to be almost indistinguishable, the fact that al Qaeda, CAIR and MAS are all deeply connected to the Muslim Brotherhood is the key point to hammer home again and again.
Once again a senior official of CAIR was convicted of a terror related offense. The people they sent money to danced in the streets on 911 and they used 911 public sympathy to raise funds for a group that worships suicide terrorism with a link to HLF on CAIR's site. The group and its ideology should now be shunned. The RICO suit just filed against the national organization displays CAIR's inner workings, foisting non-attorney's on beneficiaries for legal matters and covering up doing so.

The presence of many Scowcroft/realists "lets Talk to Iran" types bodes very well. It is my belief that Iran can and will detonate a nuclear warhead with a year's time. Having followed the clerical regime's behavior for 30 years, I can categorically state that if these barbarians have nuclear weapons, a nuclear war with them is a certainty. The only way you win a nuclear war is if the other side doesn't have the bomb or can't hit you.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I am seriously beginning to wonder if the half of the country populated by morons knows or cares about socialism/nazism as long as they "get their check"

"Conducting" is when you draw "designs" in the nowhere -- with your stick, or with your hands -- which are interpreted as "instructional messages" by guys wearing bow ties who wish they were fishing.
