Love Keith, but he's no Janis Joplin... or Ella Fitz!

My plan was to go out for a nice brisk stroll during each halftime of the three football games today, but the first two have been such klunkers that I up and left in the middle of them....

He's one of the most athletic, whole-body pianists I've ever seen! To hold that position, half-standing, hunched over the keyboard... for the full duration of the song... WOW!

Between the turkey and this song, I'm so mellow that I fear my skin will slide off my bones. Thanks for sharing this, Charles.

Summertime - possibly my all-time favourite tune. Miles Davis, Ella, Sarah Vaughan and now Keith Jarrett. Thanks for the heads up. BTW - I also like the Billy Stewart version.

Or Herbie Mann, who did a very cool version of Summertime...

re: #13 Brooklyn
And you can listen to him doing a version of it (not the one I remember, but good anyway) right here!

re: #14 Brooklyn

Actually, the one from "Herbie Mann, Live At The Village Gate" is much better, but I don't think you can find that one free online...

re: #7 Jimmah

Or Nina Simone

Thank all the Gods for that!

Miles: Are you black?
Jarrett: No.
Miles: No man. You lying. You've got to be black.
Jarrett: I'm working on it.

Interesting that for all of Miles' self-professed racism, three of his most productive collaborations were with white guys: Gill Evans, Bill Evans, and Jarrett.
