I went to 3 years of high school (graduated) in Germany. And was in Morocco for 3 years when I was a little kid. At the Olympic Games in 1972, The Germans were ready to move on the Palestinains while they were still inside the Olympic Viliage. Morocco can be a bit much as well. I was there for 3 weeks and was emotionally exhausted by the time I left. People there are so poor and eager for tourist money that I would hire a guide for the day just to keep the other guides away. One day I was walking down a back alley which ended up being the women's entrance to a mosque. A woman gave me a hand gesture that I dubbed "the Moroccan finger wag". Even in her burka I could tell I was pissing her off. I adopted the gesture whenever people were bothering me and it worked like a charm! Even the Peace Corps people I was traveling with were very happy to learn the gesture.

I always thought, if it weren't for the money drain, a smart strategy to burn up everyone else's oil, then when they are out, we have ours yet. It's paying them all that money that puts a hole in that strategy, but now at $50/bbl oil, it may be smart.

I am astounded at the apparent confusion of this rescue operation. Though, we really don't know what's going on the live feed suggests chaos. Perhaps it is the intent of the Indian forces to create this impression - disinformation - but it sure doesn't look good.

I have/had people that I work with (US citizens, along with Indian citizens that are there right now).
