There's some perspective, there. Just so I won't be deleted, I'll just say, "That makes me mad." Basically, that's what I expect from Americans.

Another example - years ago, I lived in DC. As I came out of the Safeway one day, there was a crazy guy in the parking lot, trying to break into a lady's house. Men who just happened to be there (about eight or ten of them), surrounded the raving lunatic and kept him at bay until the cops arrived.

I realize these guys were sneaky, armed, and trained, but I keep wondering if it would have initially gone down differently in a U.S. city - right at the start, before the authorities could get there. Just a thought.

Well, here's the thing. It's sad if we have to bring every citizen up to speed on military matters. That's how they live in Israel. That's how many populations have lived, over the centuries and millenia, at least learning where and when to run, when they couldn't defend.

We in the west, in recent centuries, have tried to isolate war from the general population. The Moslems think they are clever in not doing so. Well then. We can fight our fight, or we can fight their fight. As long as we do fight, I think they will lose either way. I'd prefer we fight our fight, and that means using our major weapons against their overall societies. But, apparently, we hesitate to do so. I understand that. Perhaps it's worth a try.
