New at zombietime:
Operation First CasualtyAnti-war protest and street theater
San Francisco, November 28, 2008
The anti-American group "Iraq Veterans Against the War" decided that the day after Thanksgiving would be a good time to stage an anti-war protest and street theater in San Francisco's Union Square -- because California's most crowded shopping district on the busiest day of the year would provide the largest audience for their antics. I place "Iraq Veterans Against the War" in quotation marks because it's quite evident to anyone who sees them in action that few of their members are actual veterans, and they only claim to be veterans to give their ridiculous tales the tone of authority. They named their action "Operation First Casualty" after the famous quote "The first casualty of war is truth." In this case, however, the first casualty was common sense, not only because 95% of the passersby who happened to witness portions of the protest were completely mystified as to its purpose, but also because IVAW were protesting to end a war that's already over.

FOX News had an interesting documentary about press coverage and the presidency.
One part that caught my eye was the section about the Iranian hostages and the 1980 election. Every night you would turn on the news, and see something like "Day 273", meaning that the hostages had been held for 273 days.
While this did tend to keep people updated, it also inadvertently dramatized Carter's failure to get the hostages back. I didn't think about it at the time (Hey, I wasn't even a teenager yet), but it couldn't have been good for his re-election.

Why is it that the bastards on the left are never vetted and held up to scrutiny (except here perhaps) but on the right we have to be lily white. Of course the answer is the bias of the MSM.....
The left consists of nothing but hypocrites and imposters and it drives me nuts that they get away with it.....

But before you scoff too much, try this. Have someone ask you a narrowly focused political question and then have them write down your answer verbatim. Try to sound intelligent as you might in an actual interview with a reporter.

That's a fact. I regard misspeaks like that example as amusing but that is the extent. Kind of like BOs 57 state comment. The problem is in distinguishing when it is a misspeak or a freudian slip like Obamas "8-10 year" administration remark.

Beloit College Mindset List for the Class of 2012:
The class of 2012 has grown up in an era where computers and rapid communication are the norm, and colleges no longer trumpet the fact that residence halls are “wired” and equipped with the latest hardware. These students will hardly recognize the availability of telephones in their rooms since they have seldom utilized landlines during their adolescence. They will continue to live on their cell phones and communicate via texting. Roommates, few of whom have ever shared a bedroom, have already checked out each other on Facebook where they have shared their most personal thoughts with the whole world.
It is a multicultural, politically correct and “green” generation that has hardly noticed the threats to their privacy and has never feared the Russians and the Warsaw Pact.
Students entering college for the first time this fall were generally born in 1990.
For these students, Sammy Davis Jr., Jim Henson, Ryan White, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Freddy Krueger have always been dead.
• Harry Potter could be a classmate, playing on their Quidditch team.
• Since they were in diapers, karaoke machines have been annoying people at parties.
• They have always been looking for Carmen Sandiego.
• GPS satellite navigation systems have always been available.
• Coke and Pepsi have always used recycled plastic bottles.
• Shampoo and conditioner have always been available in the same bottle.
• Gas stations have never fixed flats, but most serve cappuccino.
• Their parents may have dropped them in shock when they heard George Bush announce “tax revenue increases.”
• Electronic filing of tax returns has always been an option.
• Girls in head scarves have always been part of the school fashion scene.
• All have had a relative--or known about a friend's relative--who died comfortably at home with Hospice.
• As a precursor to “whatever,” they have recognized that some people “just don’t get it.”
• Universal Studios has always offered an alternative to Mickey in Orlando.
• Grandma has always had wheels on her walker.
• Martha Stewart Living has always been setting the style.
• Haagen-Dazs ice cream has always come in quarts.
• Club Med resorts have always been places to take the whole family.
• [Link: WWW...] never stood for World Wide Wrestling.
• Films have never been X rated, only NC-17.
• The Warsaw Pact is as hazy for them as the League of Nations was for their parents.
• Students have always been "Rocking the Vote.”
• Clarence Thomas has always sat on the Supreme Court.
• Schools have always been concerned about multiculturalism.
• We have always known that “All I Ever Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”
• There have always been gay rabbis.
• Wayne Newton has never had a mustache.
• College grads have always been able to Teach for America.
• IBM has never made typewriters.
• Roseanne Barr has never been invited to sing the National Anthem again.
• McDonald’s and Burger King have always used vegetable oil for cooking french fries.
(To be continued . . .)

Somehow, even knowing it that it could happen, and was in fact likely to happen, deep down I felt that there had to be some sort of protection mechanism built into the world that would preven something this bad from occurring.

Yep!
Not that this tale has much to do with anything------
Back in the mid 80s our unit deployed to REFORGER from Ft Hood, TX to Northern Germany. The section NCOIC brought a stuffed toy duck along as a joke. Shortly after arrival the duck disappeared. But for the next three months while we were there we kept getting these communiques and photos of the duck. The photos usually involved the duck being blindfolded and bound with a gun pointed at its head. I think the "kidnappers" were the Peoples Liberation Army of something or other. But, these photos had backgrounds of scenery all over Europe. It kept people amused for the three months though.
It was finally returned as we were turning the vehicles back in prior to redeployment, when someone noticed the duck was tied spread-eagled to the grill of a five ton truck. Happy ending.

The camps where militants learn to commit atrocities around the globe
PAKISTAN is a haven for terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Taiba with dozens of training camps hidden across the region.
Muslim extremists from Britain and other countries have travelled to the camps to receive instructions on how to make bombs, shoot guns, kidnap and torture and plot atrocities against Westerners.
Most of the al-Qaeda terrorist training camps in Afghanistan were destroyed in the international military action that followed the September 11 attacks in the United States.
However, terrorist training continued in remote regions of Pakistan and Kashmir. Many of those trained by al-Qaeda returned to their home countries, including Britain, where they joined existing networks or established new, loosely-knit groups.

One of the central messages of the Obama campaign was that anyone who doesn't vote for him is a racist. The MSM drove that into our heads at every opportunity, too, and I actually think most voters, and certainly most black people, came to believe it.
I have to confess that I look at black people differently now, knowing that it's almost certain that they just voted to put a despicable racist anti-American pig in charge of my country. And knowing that they'd very possibly be offended and hurt if they knew that I voted for McCain.
As for the gay thing... Obama and McCain had exactly the same position on gay marriage. And I don't know of any other gay issue on which they differed. Yet if you voted for McCain, you hate gay people. Weird, huh?

NEW YORK — Gay is the new black, say the protest signs and magazine covers, casting the gay marriage battle as the last frontier of equal rights for all.
It's all coming unraveled.

It's sad, isn't it? Over the last six years, the Code Pinkos and Hollywood turds have used the word fascist to the point where it loses most of its impact and significance.
Yet how would you describe a state worker who uses a state database to look up information on a citicizen who asked a question that made a political candidate look bad on TV?
How would you describe threatening letters and white powder being sent to churches because they backed a certain ballot measure (that passed)?
Sounds like fascism-lite to me, but I get the feeling we're in for at least four more years where- like it or not- we'll probably get to sample a few heavier, domestic varietites of fascism.

I agree completely! And we should not let people forget about the massive propaganda campaign waged by the USSA Pravda Press especially during the last six months. We should remind people that all featured news from the mainstream media is coordinated with the DNC when needed.
The USSA Pravda Press has a lot to answer for if the US pulls the world into a great depression simply because they wanted to get their guy elected (I'm pretty certain that the subprime collapse was engineered as an "October surprise").

I can never be quiet in situations like this. I mainly just ask a lot of questions:
"What exactly is a racist?"
"What exactly is a Nazi?"
And it's really not difficult to splay open ad hominems for the bunk they usually are. And most people aren't used to having them scrutinized. After using this approach with several people I associate with, they have either upgraded their arguments or shut up.

Yeah, I've also responded to people like that quite a few times, too. They're usually quite surprised, because they were expecting the usual response of "yeah, those damned Republicans, they're all Nazis." Obviously, they're eventually forced to admit that Republicans aren't all Nazis, that McCain voters aren't all racists, and that they actually have no idea what the word "fascist" means. Although I suspect that, as soon as I walk away, they're muttering," wow, who knew that guy was a fascist Republican racist Nazi?"
I just find that sometimes it's difficult to keep it real when the mindless Obamabots are my family members, or my superiors at work. And then, for the rest of the day, I feel lousy.

Agreed. I live in Mass, so it's very prevalent here. But it is fun to watch them implode. I had a supervisor (not mine) at work admit she's a hypocrite for some of the beliefs she held and the statements she made, and it didn't bother her at all. One of her employee's mouth was on the floor over her admission. I just shrugged my shoulders and said "typical liberal, hypocrite to the bone" Silence all around me because they had all followed the thought process, too.

Why is it that the bastards on the left are never vetted and held up to scrutiny (except here perhaps) but on the right we have to be lily white. Of course the answer is the bias of the MSM.....
The left consists of nothing but hypocrites and imposters and it drives me nuts that they get away with it.....
A necessary function in civil society is being performed by people who insist on doing it wrong.

Codes for Armageddon: A new president to hold nuclear launch 'football' - prior to relinquishing 'the football' to the UN for safe-keeping.
On Jan. 20, an unobtrusive military officer carrying a small leather-bound metal briefcase will follow President George W. Bush up to Capitol Hill. After the inauguration ceremony, he will accompany President Barack Obama back to the White House.Inside the attaché, known as "the football," are the codes to identify and authenticate a presidential order that could launch nuclear weapons and ignite a global holocaust.
And that, as they say, oughta take care of that.

Some of them had not heard about the terror attacks in India - they were out shopping. They're young. What can I say?

From Andrew Breitbart-Washington Times:
On the evening of Nov. 26, the biggest names in Bollywood walked the red carpet at the Bombay premiere of "The President Is Coming," a comedy about six 20-somethings vying to win the right to shake hands with President Bush.
Among those in attendance at the star-studded premiere Wednesday evening was Bollywood's "new heartthrob" Imran Khan, who proudly posed for paparazzi donning a T-shirt with Mr. Bush's face sandwiched between the words "International Terrorist."
Mr. Khan - a member of India's Muslim minority - chose not to mock international terrorists who kill in the name of Allah. He and his co-religionists know the deadly results for those who do.
At the precise moment Mr. Khan and hundreds of others making their fortunes in the multibillion-dollar Indian movie business were watching "The President Is Coming," only a few blocks away, 10 20-something Muslim extremists began a horrific three-day terror spree.
I guess actors are the same everywhere. But it's interesting to note:
Ironically, the Bollywood crowd is in the minority in India, where a majority approve of the U.S. behavior and more people like Mr. Bush than don't. Indians lean 45 percent to 34 percent in favor of Mr. Bush, according to a Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) poll taken earlier this year.

Look for a down day on the market as the futures are pointing down about 2%.
While the "Black Friday" sales numbers were up 3%, that was on mostly deep-discounted stuff, so the profit margin will be less for those retailers.
I wish the Chicago Bears were doing as well as the bears in the market.
Hang on, it will be really rough for a while.

Things have gone from bad to worse for the New York Football Giants. Contrary to initial reports which assumed Plaxico Burress was the only player at the Latin Quarter nightclub, many outlets are now reporting former Pro Bowl linebacker Antonio Pierce was not only present but also stashed Plaxico’s gun in a shady location currently being described as “somewhere in Jersey.”
Here are a list of other things currently found somewhere in Jersey: wiggers, guidos, abortion clinics, Giant Stadium, and Kevin Smith fans.
According to The New York Daily News, Pierce is wanted by police for questions, but he’s unavailable as the Giants are currently playing the hated Washington Redskins. At press time, the linebacker had one tackle.
Police have also revealed a third member of the Giants was present during the shooting, but this mysterious onlooker has not yet been named by anyone.
from [Link: www.cinemablend.com...]
Hopefuly its just made up but if Pierce stashed the gun it probably wont be good for him.

That's a fact. I regard misspeaks like that example as amusing but that is the extent. Kind of like BOs 57 state comment. The problem is in distinguishing when it is a misspeak or a freudian slip like Obamas "8-10 year" administration remark.
This is also where the double-standards kick in. As you said, it's unrealistic to think that BO honestly believes there are 57 states or that presidential terms last 10 years or that his Kenyan father liberated Poland with Patton. The press treats these accordingly as nothing more than slips of the tongue and the stories disappear from the MSM after a day as non-issues.
Sarah Palin won't name an individual newspaper she reads or some disgruntled McCain adviser says she thinks Africa is a country and doesn't know who's in NAFTA. Equally implausible as BO's verbal gaffes above and also most likely the result of slips of the tongue. But the press goes around for months reporting that she's illiterate, she doesn't know basics of North American geopolitics and they go around asking questions like "What do you think of the fact that Sarah Palin doesn't know that Africa isn't a country?"

Next Year In Birobidzhan? Stalin’s Siberian Zion
Since the destruction of the Second Temple by the Romans in 70 AD and their subsequent banishment from Palestine, the Jews had been without a national home until the founding of Israel in 1948. Right? Wrong.
The Soviets beat the Zionists by a few decades, and organised a Jewish Autonomous Region, improbably located on the Russian-Chinese border beyond Mongolia. Even more improbably, that region’s ‘Jewish’ status has survived stalinism, wars, deprivation and the fall of communism. But few Jews still reside in what was once billed as a future judeo-socialist utopia. Birobidzhan’s history remains, as one of the more bizarre footnotes in the struggle for a Jewish homeland.
But sure enough, some folks are a mite skeptical.
Is it just me, or does the Jewish Autonomous Region look exactly like West Virginia? Another place that isn’t particularly suited for Jews like me!

Being male, I am facinated with maps.
Naturally, being male, I'd never deign to actually follow one, you unnerstand. That'd be almost like asking directions.
From Pickin’ Cotton to Pickin’ Presidents
The bottom map dates from 1860 (i.e. the eve of the Civil War), and indicates where cotton was produced at that time, each dot representing 2,000 bales of the stuff. Cotton was King back then, and mainly so in the densely cultivated border area between Louisiana and Mississippi, and in an equally dense band of cotton cultivation starting west of the Mississippi-Alabama line, tapering out across Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. Other cotton centres are the areas around Memphis and what appears to be Lawrenceburg in southern Tennessee.
The top map dates from 2008, and shows the results of the recent presidential election, on county level. Blue counties voted for Obama, red ones for McCain (darker hues representing larger majorities). In spite of Obama’s national victory, and barring Virginia, North Carolina and Florida, all Southern states (i.e. all states formerly belonging to the Confederacy) went for McCain. The pattern of pro-Obama counties in those southern states corresponds strikingly with the cotton-picking areas of the 1860s, especially along the Louisiana-Mississippi and Mississippi-Alabama borders (the pattern corresponds less strikingly and deviates significantly elsewhere).

For any lizards so lazy as not to have composed their annual Christmas newsletter, do as I shall and simply steal one.
Hard to do better than the old Scaryduck, I'd say.
Dear [Insert name here]!
Whew! What a breath-taking year it's been for all of us! Once again, we've been busy, busy, busy, and we've hardly got the time to put pen to paper!
Once again, I've been able to flex my muscles, and despite turning forty-two this year, my four gold medals from Beijing were the talk of the front AND back pages of all the papers! They said it couldn't be done, but I managed separate golds in rowing, cycling, AND the 100m races both in the pool and on the track. The world records were a nice bonus, too, and Her Majesty was SO graceful as she handed over the CBE.
Next time, she told me, it'll be a knighthood. So I gave her a wink and said "Same time, next year, then!" and we both laughed and laughed and made a joke about the poor lollipop ladies and footballers who only get an MBE. Keep it to yourself - this kind of thing is supposed to be hush-hush!
The whole thing didn't quite go to plan, as those pesky Russians tried to spoil it for me by invading Georgia, knowing FULL WELL that my peacekeeping efforts would be compromised by my efforts for Queen and Country in Beijing. Little did Vladimir Putin know that my charming wife drives just as hard a bargain, something he only found out as her cock-punch unerringly found his groin, ensuring an early Russian surrender.
Our friends in Washington were so impressed by her diplomacy that they cancelled last month's election, and appointed her as President of the United States, for life. How she's going to balance that with in her Am-Dram with Kenneth Branagh, her career as a neuro-surgeon AND running a busy home is anybody's guess!
In the meantime, Scaryduckling has taken her GCSEs two years early, and used her new-found skills to solve the world financial crisis, by making everybody give all the money back - a solution which somehow eluded the so-called finest brains of our civilisation, and forced Alistair Darling to go on television to admit he is the King of the Gits. All this while embarking in a major stadium tour of Europe, supported by Radiohead AND a reformed Beatles!
The lad Scaryduck Junior's also gone from strength to strength, wresting golf's Ryder Cup away from those uptight American wallahs, and posting a record-breaking round of 18 in the Open Championship. All the prize money's going to come in handy as he designs and builds the Space Shuttle replacement for NASA. He'll get his homework done as soon as he and his genetically-modified monkey butler come down from orbit!
And as for Lucy Minogue, our darling little King Charles Cavalier – she pulled out of Crufts this year – which she has won three years in a row – in a much publicised spat over alleged cruelty in dog shows. It was her own decision, and we back her fully over her well-aimed cock-punch on the boss of the Kennel Club. We laughed and laughed! We didn't miss the prize money, though, as she was clever enough to strike oil in our back garden whilst burying a bone – rolling back the global price of oil and solving the UK's financial woes into the bargain. Good dog!
PHEW! That's just about it from us. Hope you had a good year, too. Though, frankly, we couldn't care a shit.
Blissfully yours,
Lord S Duck of Smugsville OBE CBE VC (and bar) KFC Ph.D
And this one has the advantage of fewer exaggerations than the usual fare.

If he has a permit, it's a bit odd that they'd be wasting resources on the case, given that no one other than he was hurt. The article says he's facing felony charges. I would be surprised if an accidental discharge where no one was hurt would lead to felony weapons charge, if the person who had the accident had a carry permit.

Finger seems in order (we'll know when the wrap comes off), throbs a bunch and she's decided she doesn't like her pain drug (makes her sick to her stomach) so she's been making due with OTC stuff.

All our security arrangements are in the front," he said. "They planned everything. I believe the first thing they did, they shot a sniffer dog and his handler."

Success and failure are not necessarily mutually exclusive, but it is true that we run the risk of failure if we do not succeed.
Conversely, if we do not fail we chance success.
We may have one as well as the other simultaneously in some instances. As in the case below based on true events:
An elderly gentleman of 96 years took the Viagra pill last evening given to him on his 96th birthday by his loving son of 75. The consumed pill worked. The old bloke saw it was a success, but its purpose for further service was a failure since the gentleman's wife had passed away shortly before their loving son's 74th birthday.
In summation: we run the risk of failure even when initial success is achieved if all components are not present for ultimate success; therefore, with ultimate success we never run the risk of any failure.

Yes, the gas price is cheap, but back in 2005 when I was commuting, it was between 1.95 - 2.35, depending on the time of the year. So I think it's amazingly cheap. I have a friend who works in the oil business, and when it hits times like this he goes back and finds a job in the computer sector. He bounces back and forth, depending on how oil is doing. I have no idea... the Conservatives have a minority gov't, more seats than any 2 of the other 3 parties in parliament. If all 3 opposition parties can agree to a coalition gov't, they could bring down Harper's gov't. They are trying to make an issue out of the economy & Harper's response to it. Harper's response is to carefully consider what sort of stimulus spending, where, when and how to act. The liberals & NDP & Bloc want the gov't to suddenly spend a pile of money on all their favorite pet projects & programs.
Harper can be a rather stiff in his manner, and overly logical in his presentation, not very warm & fuzzy. The opposition is trying to portray that as "insensitive & out of touch". Most of the media in against Harper, so the coalition idea is getting a lot of help.

Consider first an op-ed article in Sunday’s Los Angeles Times by Martha Nussbaum, a well-known professor of law and ethics at the University of Chicago. The article was headlined “Terrorism in India has many faces.” But one face that Nussbaum fails to mention specifically is that of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Islamic terror group originating in Pakistan that seems to have been centrally involved in the attack on Mumbai.
Becauase professors of law and ethics in Chicago are the real experts on terror and Islam - not the people who actually have to deal with it daily because they are surrounded by 500 million Arab Muslims.
This is because Nussbaum’s main concern is not explaining or curbing Islamic terror. Rather, she writes that “if, as now seems likely, last week’s terrible events in Mumbai were the work of Islamic terrorists, that’s more bad news for India’s minority Muslim population.” She deplores past acts of Hindu terror against India’s Muslims. She worries about Muslim youths being rounded up on suspicion of terrorism with little or no evidence. And she notes that this is “an analogue to the current ugly phenomenon of racial profiling in the United States.”
So jihadists kill innocents in Mumbai — and Nussbaum ends up decrying racial profiling here. Is it just that liberal academics are required to include some alleged ugly American phenomenon in everything they write?
Jim Leach is also a professor, at Princeton, but he’s better known as a former moderate Republican congressman from Iowa who supported Barack Obama this year. His contribution over the weekend was to point out on Politico.com that “the Mumbai catastrophe underscores the importance of vocabulary.” This wouldn’t have been my first thought. But Leach believes it’s very important that we consider the Mumbai attack not as an act of “war” but as an act of “barbarism.”
These are the people that think they know what's better for Indians and Israelis than the Indians and Israelis do. All the way from New Jersey

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. I guess the US and NATO was doing something right in Afghanistan for November. Only one US servicemember was killed in action in Afghanistan in the past month, a significant drop over prior months.
Guess the Taliban realized that they were losing bigtime and the US still wasn't going anywhere. Oh, and the weather doesn't favor the Taliban either.
And the US has actually increased the number of troops in Afghanistan to take the fight to the terrorists, who have to be wondering when they will be able to slip out from the pressure exerted by the Afghan and US/NATO forces.

Still pissed about India.
Getting more pissed as the (young) day carries on - the MSM doing it's thing.
The one that gets me the most is that while watching the live coverage of the terror attacks I mentioned to my wife that maybe the MSM should stop showing film of hostages being rescued from windows, film of hostages signaling from windows, and other info that they know.
Then I go online this morning and read how CNN broadcast the position of 2 British hostages, who then said the terrorists (who saw the broadcast) took an elevator back downstairs to search for them.
Of course they would never ever do that if it was a terror attack in the US, right?
Do you think the MSM would be showing so many dead bodies if the bodies were American victims in America?
Typical paternal western liberal racism.
Otherwise, I'm psyched to be back at work.

Close. The actual back and forth, via imdb:
Doc Holliday: And you must be Ringo. Look, darling, Johnny Ringo. The deadliest pistoleer since Wild Bill, they say. What do you think, darling? Should I hate him?
Kate: You don't even know him.
Doc Holliday: Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.
Wyatt Earp: [to Ringo] He's drunk.

Johnny Ringo: Age quod agis.
["Do what you do" meaning: "Do what you do best"]
Doc Holliday: Credat Judaeus apella, non ego.

Johnny Ringo: [pats his gun] Eventus stultorum magister.
["Events are the teachers of fools" meaning: "Fools have to learn by experience"]
Doc Holliday: [gives a Cheshire cat smile] In pace requiescat.
["Rest in peace" meaning: "It's your funeral!"]

The evil man behiind the Mumbai terror plot?
Bill Roggio notes that both the Pakistani armed forces and a gigantic criminal/jihadi gang have been implicated in the latest attack on India. The sole surviving gunman in the Mumbai attack, Ajmal Amir Kasab has fingered the Pakistani Navy and the Dawood Ibrahim criminal network for providing assistance and training for the Mumbai assault team, according to India Today, quoting police sources.
Dawood Ibrahim turns out to be one of those supremely powerful people who very few in the West have heard of. He also typifies the interchangeable nature of crime, government and the Jihad among the Muslim communities of South Asia. According to Wikipedia, Dawood Ibrahim “was No. 4 on the Forbes’ world’s Top 10 most dreaded criminals list of 2008″ and is widely believed to have been the man behind the Mumbai terror bombings of 1993. He is wanted by the United States and the United Nations and reportedly lives, unsurprisingly enough, in Karachi.
The Muslim exile from Bombay has thrown in his lot with al Qaeda and other jihadists, according to the U.S. and Indian governments, and has become one of the world’s most wanted terrorists.

Bollywood actor Imraan Khan poses at the premiere of "The President is Coming" in Mumbai on November 26, 2008 in his "Bush International Terrorist" T-shirt and skinny arms. (Reuters)
While Imran, a member of India's Muslim minority, was viewing his new film in a "Bush the terrorist" shirt, 10-15 Islamic terrorists went on a killing spree a few blocks away.
BREITBART: Six degrees of Imran Khan
Azam Amir Kasab, the sole surviving terrorist, told his saviors, "I was told to kill to my last breath." The 21-year-old Pakistani stated that the group's goal was to kill 5,000 people. Overall, at least 174 people died and more than 300 were injured.
Mr. Khan might have been spared only because Kasab and his cohorts failed to reach their death quota. His fellow Bollywood actor Ashish Chaudhary wasn't so lucky. His sister and her husband were killed by indiscriminate gunfire sprayed into Tiffin restaurant at the Oberoi-Trident hotel.
"It's shocking, really shocking. I still can't believe that my dear sister and brother-in-law are now no more. I am completely shattered," Mr. Chaudhary said.
Priorities.

Right there is the main reason that I distrust the Mohammedans on the issue of terrorism. The perpetrators of this atrocity were unquestionably Mohammedans. Hundreds of people lost their loved one to these cowardly jihadis. So naturally the Mohammedan comunity manages to say that Mohammedans are the real victims here.
In a word, No! It'd maybe be one thing if this were an isolated incident, but it is not. As a matter of fact this was not as big an atrocity as some things that the Mohammedans have done. Whining that the world somehow oppresses them isn't an option anymore. Or, more accurately, it shouldn't come into play.
Not all Mohammedans are terrorists, but it seems like most Mohammedans support terrorism to one degree or another. So we should quit trying to fight them but not hurt their little feelings. If you hurt their feelings Mohammedans will kill you, so don't fuckin' dare to call them violent.
Yeah, we'll see if that dog will still hunt. It certainly shouldn't, but the West has a hard time understanding beliefs that stray too far from accepted doctrines. At some point, it's going to tip over, and when it does, the Mohammedans won't have the luxury of worrying about their precious little feelings.

More on Dawood,
The ISI then made Dawood an offer: If he relocated to Pakistan's port city of Karachi and kept working with the ISI, it would guarantee him control of the nation's coastal smuggling routes. For 12 years now, Dawood has called Pakistan home, where he is believed to own shopping malls, luxury homes, and shipping and trucking lines that smuggle arms into India and heroin into Europe. India's FBI, the Central Bureau of Investigation, puts D Company's annual income in the hundreds of millions of dollars and says it has up to 5,000 members.

Good morning lawhawk! Uh, where are Al-Q and the Taliban think they're gonna go? Head of Pakistan seemed REALLY PISSED OFF at the Mumbai attacks and claimed that they were brought about by Al-Q, the Taliban and "rogue" elements of the ISI (which he promised to root out) to bring about a war between India and Pakistan.
Pakistan has to deal with multiple threats and none is larger than India loaded for bear after getting bloodied over the weekend in such a spectacular fashion. It's in Pakistan's best interest to try and diffuse the situation and to get things under control - whether it's giving up all their leads and other useful intel to the US and Indians, or going after the Islamists involved directly. They have to balance that with the Islamist threat that remains ongoing, and the threat that the Pakistanis would take 100,000 troops off the line in the Frontier Provinces to engage the front along the Indian-Pakistani border was a very direct and blunt way of saying that the Pakistani government needs space to operate although it doesn't exactly absolve the government of complicity. That complication is the last thing that the Indians, Pakistanis, or the US and Afghans can afford right now.
India has to upgrade their intel services, their counterterror response, and the local response was an abject mess - when Mumbai doesn't even have a SWAT team to speak of, you know there's a big problem. And it's going to take time for that to be resolved, even if the central government expands the Black Cats (which takes time to train as well).

Obviously they share a common enemy because extremists in any form are a threat to the Pakistanis as well as the Indians," Rice said. (Reuters)
Hum, then why do they all seem to get their training in Pakistan? I see Rice knows as much about this as she does about The Palestinians?

It's a bad situation. If India deploys troops towards Pakistan, then Pakistand would be forced to pull troops out of the tribal region in response - loosening their already brittle grip on the area.

They'll probably move some troops to the Paki border, the Pakis will move some troops of their own to the border, they'll eyeball eachother for a few weeks, and then they'll all go home.
Life is pretty cheap in that neighbourhood.
This would be bad from a GWOT perspective and may be exactly what the Terrorist savages want. If the Paki's redeploy troops, they will come out of the Tribal region, which will give Al Qeada a freer hand to move, train, etc.

Lahore is the most pro-Western city in Pakistan. It is a large and diverse country. Al Qaeda & even more so, the Taliban, sitll have considerable support in much of the country.
The point you make about the Predator drone missions is very telling: they have hit several big targets lately so the US must be getting good intel from somewhere. The Pak gov't is helping the US, while making feeble protests for domestic consumption.
