New at zombietime:
Operation First CasualtyAnti-war protest and street theater
San Francisco, November 28, 2008
The anti-American group "Iraq Veterans Against the War" decided that the day after Thanksgiving would be a good time to stage an anti-war protest and street theater in San Francisco's Union Square -- because California's most crowded shopping district on the busiest day of the year would provide the largest audience for their antics. I place "Iraq Veterans Against the War" in quotation marks because it's quite evident to anyone who sees them in action that few of their members are actual veterans, and they only claim to be veterans to give their ridiculous tales the tone of authority. They named their action "Operation First Casualty" after the famous quote "The first casualty of war is truth." In this case, however, the first casualty was common sense, not only because 95% of the passersby who happened to witness portions of the protest were completely mystified as to its purpose, but also because IVAW were protesting to end a war that's already over.

FOX News had an interesting documentary about press coverage and the presidency.
One part that caught my eye was the section about the Iranian hostages and the 1980 election. Every night you would turn on the news, and see something like "Day 273", meaning that the hostages had been held for 273 days.
While this did tend to keep people updated, it also inadvertently dramatized Carter's failure to get the hostages back. I didn't think about it at the time (Hey, I wasn't even a teenager yet), but it couldn't have been good for his re-election.

Why is it that the bastards on the left are never vetted and held up to scrutiny (except here perhaps) but on the right we have to be lily white. Of course the answer is the bias of the MSM.....
The left consists of nothing but hypocrites and imposters and it drives me nuts that they get away with it.....

But before you scoff too much, try this. Have someone ask you a narrowly focused political question and then have them write down your answer verbatim. Try to sound intelligent as you might in an actual interview with a reporter.

That's a fact. I regard misspeaks like that example as amusing but that is the extent. Kind of like BOs 57 state comment. The problem is in distinguishing when it is a misspeak or a freudian slip like Obamas "8-10 year" administration remark.

Beloit College Mindset List for the Class of 2012:
The class of 2012 has grown up in an era where computers and rapid communication are the norm, and colleges no longer trumpet the fact that residence halls are “wired” and equipped with the latest hardware. These students will hardly recognize the availability of telephones in their rooms since they have seldom utilized landlines during their adolescence. They will continue to live on their cell phones and communicate via texting. Roommates, few of whom have ever shared a bedroom, have already checked out each other on Facebook where they have shared their most personal thoughts with the whole world.
It is a multicultural, politically correct and “green” generation that has hardly noticed the threats to their privacy and has never feared the Russians and the Warsaw Pact.
Students entering college for the first time this fall were generally born in 1990.
For these students, Sammy Davis Jr., Jim Henson, Ryan White, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Freddy Krueger have always been dead.
• Harry Potter could be a classmate, playing on their Quidditch team.
• Since they were in diapers, karaoke machines have been annoying people at parties.
• They have always been looking for Carmen Sandiego.
• GPS satellite navigation systems have always been available.
• Coke and Pepsi have always used recycled plastic bottles.
• Shampoo and conditioner have always been available in the same bottle.
• Gas stations have never fixed flats, but most serve cappuccino.
• Their parents may have dropped them in shock when they heard George Bush announce “tax revenue increases.”
• Electronic filing of tax returns has always been an option.
• Girls in head scarves have always been part of the school fashion scene.
• All have had a relative--or known about a friend's relative--who died comfortably at home with Hospice.
• As a precursor to “whatever,” they have recognized that some people “just don’t get it.”
• Universal Studios has always offered an alternative to Mickey in Orlando.
• Grandma has always had wheels on her walker.
• Martha Stewart Living has always been setting the style.
• Haagen-Dazs ice cream has always come in quarts.
• Club Med resorts have always been places to take the whole family.
• [Link: WWW...] never stood for World Wide Wrestling.
• Films have never been X rated, only NC-17.
• The Warsaw Pact is as hazy for them as the League of Nations was for their parents.
• Students have always been "Rocking the Vote.”
• Clarence Thomas has always sat on the Supreme Court.
• Schools have always been concerned about multiculturalism.
• We have always known that “All I Ever Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”
• There have always been gay rabbis.
• Wayne Newton has never had a mustache.
• College grads have always been able to Teach for America.
• IBM has never made typewriters.
• Roseanne Barr has never been invited to sing the National Anthem again.
• McDonald’s and Burger King have always used vegetable oil for cooking french fries.
(To be continued . . .)

Somehow, even knowing it that it could happen, and was in fact likely to happen, deep down I felt that there had to be some sort of protection mechanism built into the world that would preven something this bad from occurring.

Yep!
Not that this tale has much to do with anything------
Back in the mid 80s our unit deployed to REFORGER from Ft Hood, TX to Northern Germany. The section NCOIC brought a stuffed toy duck along as a joke. Shortly after arrival the duck disappeared. But for the next three months while we were there we kept getting these communiques and photos of the duck. The photos usually involved the duck being blindfolded and bound with a gun pointed at its head. I think the "kidnappers" were the Peoples Liberation Army of something or other. But, these photos had backgrounds of scenery all over Europe. It kept people amused for the three months though.
It was finally returned as we were turning the vehicles back in prior to redeployment, when someone noticed the duck was tied spread-eagled to the grill of a five ton truck. Happy ending.

The camps where militants learn to commit atrocities around the globe
PAKISTAN is a haven for terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Taiba with dozens of training camps hidden across the region.
Muslim extremists from Britain and other countries have travelled to the camps to receive instructions on how to make bombs, shoot guns, kidnap and torture and plot atrocities against Westerners.
Most of the al-Qaeda terrorist training camps in Afghanistan were destroyed in the international military action that followed the September 11 attacks in the United States.
However, terrorist training continued in remote regions of Pakistan and Kashmir. Many of those trained by al-Qaeda returned to their home countries, including Britain, where they joined existing networks or established new, loosely-knit groups.

One of the central messages of the Obama campaign was that anyone who doesn't vote for him is a racist. The MSM drove that into our heads at every opportunity, too, and I actually think most voters, and certainly most black people, came to believe it.
I have to confess that I look at black people differently now, knowing that it's almost certain that they just voted to put a despicable racist anti-American pig in charge of my country. And knowing that they'd very possibly be offended and hurt if they knew that I voted for McCain.
As for the gay thing... Obama and McCain had exactly the same position on gay marriage. And I don't know of any other gay issue on which they differed. Yet if you voted for McCain, you hate gay people. Weird, huh?

NEW YORK — Gay is the new black, say the protest signs and magazine covers, casting the gay marriage battle as the last frontier of equal rights for all.
It's all coming unraveled.

It's sad, isn't it? Over the last six years, the Code Pinkos and Hollywood turds have used the word fascist to the point where it loses most of its impact and significance.
Yet how would you describe a state worker who uses a state database to look up information on a citicizen who asked a question that made a political candidate look bad on TV?
How would you describe threatening letters and white powder being sent to churches because they backed a certain ballot measure (that passed)?
Sounds like fascism-lite to me, but I get the feeling we're in for at least four more years where- like it or not- we'll probably get to sample a few heavier, domestic varietites of fascism.

I agree completely! And we should not let people forget about the massive propaganda campaign waged by the USSA Pravda Press especially during the last six months. We should remind people that all featured news from the mainstream media is coordinated with the DNC when needed.
The USSA Pravda Press has a lot to answer for if the US pulls the world into a great depression simply because they wanted to get their guy elected (I'm pretty certain that the subprime collapse was engineered as an "October surprise").

I can never be quiet in situations like this. I mainly just ask a lot of questions:
"What exactly is a racist?"
"What exactly is a Nazi?"
And it's really not difficult to splay open ad hominems for the bunk they usually are. And most people aren't used to having them scrutinized. After using this approach with several people I associate with, they have either upgraded their arguments or shut up.

Yeah, I've also responded to people like that quite a few times, too. They're usually quite surprised, because they were expecting the usual response of "yeah, those damned Republicans, they're all Nazis." Obviously, they're eventually forced to admit that Republicans aren't all Nazis, that McCain voters aren't all racists, and that they actually have no idea what the word "fascist" means. Although I suspect that, as soon as I walk away, they're muttering," wow, who knew that guy was a fascist Republican racist Nazi?"
I just find that sometimes it's difficult to keep it real when the mindless Obamabots are my family members, or my superiors at work. And then, for the rest of the day, I feel lousy.

Agreed. I live in Mass, so it's very prevalent here. But it is fun to watch them implode. I had a supervisor (not mine) at work admit she's a hypocrite for some of the beliefs she held and the statements she made, and it didn't bother her at all. One of her employee's mouth was on the floor over her admission. I just shrugged my shoulders and said "typical liberal, hypocrite to the bone" Silence all around me because they had all followed the thought process, too.

Why is it that the bastards on the left are never vetted and held up to scrutiny (except here perhaps) but on the right we have to be lily white. Of course the answer is the bias of the MSM.....
The left consists of nothing but hypocrites and imposters and it drives me nuts that they get away with it.....
A necessary function in civil society is being performed by people who insist on doing it wrong.

Codes for Armageddon: A new president to hold nuclear launch 'football' - prior to relinquishing 'the football' to the UN for safe-keeping.
On Jan. 20, an unobtrusive military officer carrying a small leather-bound metal briefcase will follow President George W. Bush up to Capitol Hill. After the inauguration ceremony, he will accompany President Barack Obama back to the White House.Inside the attaché, known as "the football," are the codes to identify and authenticate a presidential order that could launch nuclear weapons and ignite a global holocaust.
And that, as they say, oughta take care of that.

Some of them had not heard about the terror attacks in India - they were out shopping. They're young. What can I say?

From Andrew Breitbart-Washington Times:
On the evening of Nov. 26, the biggest names in Bollywood walked the red carpet at the Bombay premiere of "The President Is Coming," a comedy about six 20-somethings vying to win the right to shake hands with President Bush.
Among those in attendance at the star-studded premiere Wednesday evening was Bollywood's "new heartthrob" Imran Khan, who proudly posed for paparazzi donning a T-shirt with Mr. Bush's face sandwiched between the words "International Terrorist."
Mr. Khan - a member of India's Muslim minority - chose not to mock international terrorists who kill in the name of Allah. He and his co-religionists know the deadly results for those who do.
At the precise moment Mr. Khan and hundreds of others making their fortunes in the multibillion-dollar Indian movie business were watching "The President Is Coming," only a few blocks away, 10 20-something Muslim extremists began a horrific three-day terror spree.
I guess actors are the same everywhere. But it's interesting to note:
Ironically, the Bollywood crowd is in the minority in India, where a majority approve of the U.S. behavior and more people like Mr. Bush than don't. Indians lean 45 percent to 34 percent in favor of Mr. Bush, according to a Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) poll taken earlier this year.

Look for a down day on the market as the futures are pointing down about 2%.
While the "Black Friday" sales numbers were up 3%, that was on mostly deep-discounted stuff, so the profit margin will be less for those retailers.
I wish the Chicago Bears were doing as well as the bears in the market.
Hang on, it will be really rough for a while.

Things have gone from bad to worse for the New York Football Giants. Contrary to initial reports which assumed Plaxico Burress was the only player at the Latin Quarter nightclub, many outlets are now reporting former Pro Bowl linebacker Antonio Pierce was not only present but also stashed Plaxico’s gun in a shady location currently being described as “somewhere in Jersey.”
Here are a list of other things currently found somewhere in Jersey: wiggers, guidos, abortion clinics, Giant Stadium, and Kevin Smith fans.
According to The New York Daily News, Pierce is wanted by police for questions, but he’s unavailable as the Giants are currently playing the hated Washington Redskins. At press time, the linebacker had one tackle.
Police have also revealed a third member of the Giants was present during the shooting, but this mysterious onlooker has not yet been named by anyone.
from [Link: www.cinemablend.com...]
Hopefuly its just made up but if Pierce stashed the gun it probably wont be good for him.

That's a fact. I regard misspeaks like that example as amusing but that is the extent. Kind of like BOs 57 state comment. The problem is in distinguishing when it is a misspeak or a freudian slip like Obamas "8-10 year" administration remark.
This is also where the double-standards kick in. As you said, it's unrealistic to think that BO honestly believes there are 57 states or that presidential terms last 10 years or that his Kenyan father liberated Poland with Patton. The press treats these accordingly as nothing more than slips of the tongue and the stories disappear from the MSM after a day as non-issues.
Sarah Palin won't name an individual newspaper she reads or some disgruntled McCain adviser says she thinks Africa is a country and doesn't know who's in NAFTA. Equally implausible as BO's verbal gaffes above and also most likely the result of slips of the tongue. But the press goes around for months reporting that she's illiterate, she doesn't know basics of North American geopolitics and they go around asking questions like "What do you think of the fact that Sarah Palin doesn't know that Africa isn't a country?"

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Mine was great! Thanksgiving was delicious. We had an 40 inch HD television delivered on Friday. Sunday was my birthday (39 again!). And my wife and I took our two and a half year old daughter to have brunch with Santa! A great weekend all around.
Today is about 40 degrees on the way up to the mid 50's and the wet weather is clearing up here in CT.

Our local weather station had some funny commercials a while back.
They would go up to a random person on the street and ask them what they thought about one of the anchors. One time, they asked about a weather lady whose name I forget and the guy said, "[Soandso's name]? She's on MY doppler radar!"
