U.S. military sets high-stakes missile-shield test
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military is set to run a "realistic" test Friday of a system built to knock out long-range missiles that could be fired by North Korea or Iran, the Pentagon said.
The drill, over the Pacific, will be the first since September 2007 involving an attempted intercept by the sole U.S. shield against long-range ballistic missiles.
Boeing Co is prime contractor for the system, called the ground-based midcourse defense. It is part of an emerging, layered shield against missiles that could be tipped with chemical, biological or nuclear warheads.
"Target is representative of the type we would expect from a country like North Korea or Iran," said Richard Lehner, a spokesman for the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency.
"It is also realistic in terms of distance involved, trajectory, speed and timeframe, i.e., about 30 minute flight of threat missile," he said in an emailed reply to Reuters.

But you'd be disappointed.

Muslim: All other religions that worship idols are wrong.
Non-Muslim: In what way?
M: They bow down to lumps of rock. Can't you see that's wrong?
N: And when *you* pray, what do *you* pray to?
M: We pray to Allah!
N: So since Allah is everywhere, it doesn't matter which way you face?
M: We must face Mecca.
N: And if you're *in* Mecca, which way do you face?
M: We face the Ka'abah
N: And what *is* the Ka'abah?
M: It's this huge rock...

Did you know...
The Obama campaign slogan "Yes we can" was stolen from a large, multi-national corporation. In the mid 1970's the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (the logging, lumber manufacturer, and land owner) used "Yes we can" as their logo/slogan. They had it plastered on everything they produced.
I don't know if they still own the copy-right or trade-mark.
There's only one reply to "Yes we can" and that's "NO YOU CAN"T!"

Would it be funny if the Pres elect snubbed the SC and refused to make with the Nirth Cert? Would they be able to overturn the election if he did? And more importantly does that make Biden the new Pres Elect or would GWB remain in office until a special election could be held?

Interesting way to put it. If you look at Intrades values for 0bama as president, you can see 0bama's stock break out about Sept. 28-29.
Funnily enough, if you look at the Dow Jones Average since that date, it's lost about 25% of its value!

My study of astronomy and astrophysics was the clincher. There is absolutely no way that the light from galaxies millions of light years could make it through space that fast.
Didn't I read somewhere in the last two weeks that scientists have confirmed Einstein's formula E=MC^2. That settles it for me.
On a theological basis there is no danger from Old Earth Creationism. The only thing I take out of Genesis is that Adam and Eve were real people. As for when they were created it is not important.

And now, a funny Christmas poem I've enjoyed since I was a kid:
It was Christmas eve night in the poorhouse,
and all of the paupers were there.
I stepped in because it was snowing,
and snow always screws up my hair.
By the pot-bellied stove, sat a pot-bellied man.
He spoke with some lumps in his throat.
His story was sad, and his diction was bad,
and here is the song that he wrote:
"I once was the jolliest fat man,
with roses in all of my cheeks.
I'd load up my sled every Christmas,
and go on a drunk for 2 weeks.
"My friends said they saw me on rooftops,
and sliding down chimneys at dawn.
With my reindeer in hand, I would glide 'cross the land,
and wake up on somebody's lawn.
"One morning, my wife left this message:
'Each Christmas, I've spent by myself.
I'm sick of your stupid traditions,
So I've run off to Spain wit' a elf.'"
Just then, the old man started dying!
He screamed, "May the Lord take my soul!"
I went through his wallet, to see who he was.
His address read simply: "North Pole"
So the next time you go by the poorhouse,
if by the poorhouse you go,
just take off your hat, to a dead guy who's fat,
and whisper a silent "Ho, ho".
1 free upding to the first poster who can tell me where this is from.

Withdrawn. Now to quals. M16 . better than most. Colt 45. On my hip boarding every day. Always threw one shot short at the range. 12g shotgun. Don't come near. good lefty too. Carry now? No. and miss it.
we could meet for some skeet/trap shooting. there's a range up at the 14/5 interchange that's nice, and they have decent beer on tap for afterward.
could even loan you a long stick if you don;t have one, or they rent.
there's a pistol range too.

don't mind him: he lives by the ocean... here in The Valley, it's high 60/low 70's in the days, low 50's at night, unless it's raining. we usually get one or two cold snaps when it will get near or below freezing at night, and the occasional winter wind storm, where it's windy and cold as opposed to the Santa Ana's which are warm, at least in the day time.

Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.
WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank,
D-Mass., predicted that 2009 will be the "best year" for public policy since the
New Deal.
Speaking before the Consumer Federation of America Thursday, Frank said
Congress would pass a regulatory overhaul comparable to the antitrust laws of
the late 19th century and the creation of the Securities and Exchange Commission
in 1934.
Democrats will tighten consumer protections for credit cards, put "very tough
rules in" to govern subprime lending and give "appropriate liability" to the
institutions that securitize mortgage loans, he said.
Frank said the economic crisis has run counter to the philosophy first
espoused by President Ronald Reagan that "government is part of the problem." He
said the goal would be to diminish excessive risk-taking within the context of
investor and consumer protections.
"This has not become an anti-capitalist society," Frank said. "I think we can
make the argument, as the New Deal did, that in fact we are being very
pro-market."
Frank said that securitization - used to repackage mortgage loans and sell
them to investors as bonds - has "good aspects" when done right but can also
lead to abuses.
Frank predicted that legislation to tighten consumer protections in the credit
card market and to crack down on mortgage lending abuses would become law. He
also said bank regulators would adopt a code of unfair and deceptive practices.

Awww. This is sooo nice: NATO Makes Everybody Happy
The summit of NATO foreign ministers ended yesterday in Brussels. For Russia, the main result of the meeting was that Ukraine and Georgia did not receive membership action plans and the decision was made to renew relations with Russia. NATO General Secretary Jaap de Hoop Scheffer called Russia a key player in the international arena and said the Russia-NATO Council made it possible to work together on common problems, such as Afghanistan. Scheffer added that the renewal of contacts does not mean that NATO approves of Russia’s actions in the August war in the Caucasus or that it discounts Russia’s threats to point missiles at NATO member countries.
[...]
Georgian Prime Minister Grigol Mgaloblishvili told a session of the government in Tbilisi yesterday that “the irreversible process of Georgian NATO membership” has started, calling the yearlong action plan a mechanism for joining the organization. Lasha Zhvania, chairman of the Georgian parliament’s international affairs committee, explained that “A yearlong action plan will be provided every year and its results reviewed at the annual NATO summit. We see the possibility that, after one of those reviews, the alliance will make the decision to invite Georgia into NATO without a membership action plan.”
Every year Georgia's & no doubt the Ukraine's action plans will be reviewed and every year the Euro's will say 'Nyet! Kiene!'

Look for the market to open relatively flat today. The futures are just about even and the Nikkei os down .08% wile the Hang Seng is up 2.49%
The market is waiting for the November unemployment report (350,000 lost jobs is expected) and for more begging fromthe Big 3.
Now the Democrats want the White House to give the Big 3 the bailout.

Taken to School: An Interview with the Honorable Judge John E. Jones, III
Jane Gitschier
Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, Institute for Human Genetics, University of California San Francisco
[Link: www.plosgenetics.org...]
I once had a post-doctoral fellow who, upon discovering we had grown up a quarter mile from each other in a small town in Pennsylvania, commented on our shared experience with, “Well, you know what they say about Pennsylvania? There's Philadelphia, there's Pittsburgh, and there's the state of Alabama in between.” That blunt assessment (attributable to James Carville) certainly resonated when I first read about the Kitzmiller et al. v. Dover Area School District case in late 2004.
Dover, indeed, is a small town in south central Pennsylvania. At that time, the Dover school board instructed 9th grade biology teachers to read a statement that evolution is only a theory for the origin of species and to proffer an alternate explanation called “intelligent design” (ID). Tammy Kitzmiller, the mother of two students in the Dover public schools, together with a number of other plaintiffs and assisted by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), sued the Dover school district for an injunction against the statement and use of materials in science class as a breach of the First Amendment of the US Constitution.
At the bench during this remarkable trial sat the Federal Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the Honorable Judge John E. Jones, III. Jones, a Republican and a Bush appointee, was assumed by many and feared by others to be inclined to rule for the defendants. However, in a stunning Memorandum Opinion, Jones excoriated intelligent design, waxed eloquent about the meaning and practice of science, and, for the skeptics, restored faith in the fairness of the judicial system.
My call to the Judge's chambers in request for an interview was answered in vivo by his assistant, who suggested simply e-mailing the Judge directly. I did, and back came an immediate reply of “Happy to do it.” On the appointed July day, in near 100-degree heat, I drove from my father's home in Pottstown along country roads through the corn-laden, cow-dotted agricultural landscape that I love. But as I got closer to my destination, the state capital of Harrisburg, billboard outcroppings disrupted the fields' quiet beauty with warnings such as, “It's your choice – heaven or hell.” It appeared that I had arrived at the crux of the matter.

I guess they didn't grovel sufficiently the first time around.
From everything I've seen of what the Big 3 COE's had to say, they have very little idea of how to actually sell more cars. Their whole approach has been to describe how bad off they are and what the consequences will be if they close. They seem to think that more the most part things are just ducky, that the economy just went bad and they need to be carried by the tax payer until the economy improves and people start buying lots of cars again.
Basically, wait, sponge off the taxpayer and hope.
Wrong way round.
They need to be showing clear workable plans on how they are going to turn it around and so are worth saving from that standpoint.

re: #342 Babydoc
Minnesota Public Radio has Franken up by 4,658 with 98.8% of the vote counted.
Here's their explanation of the number:
The Secretary of State updates the numbers each day at 8 p.m. The margin between the candidates changes depending on which precincts are reporting their results on any given day.
Some other news organizations are displaying a count that shows a much smaller margin between the two candidates. They're looking at the votes counted in each precinct, and comparing the totals to the original election total that had Sen. Norm Coleman ahead by 215 votes.
Both approaches are based on figures from the Secretary of State's office, and both have one big problem -- the challenged ballots are not included in the count. That makes it quite difficult to say with any precision the margin between the two candidates.
Elections experts tell us the outcome of the recount won't be known until all counties finish their hand counts of the ballots, and the State Canvassing Board rules on all the challenged ballots.
So I guess that means that the remaining 1.2% of the votes must come from precincts that favored Coleman.

UAW tells Congress that bankruptcy is not a "viable option".
Big 3 beg for $34 billion from Congress
Repentant after a botched first crack at bailout pleas, the executives from General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC all agreed during Thursday’s session that a multibillion-dollar bailout deal would include a supervisory government board that could order major overhauls of the companies if deemed necessary for survival.
United Auto Workers union President Ron Gettelfinger, aligned with the industry in pressing for the aid, told senators that any kind of bankruptcy, even a pre-packaged one, was not “a viable option.” Gettelfinger said consumers would not buy autos from bankrupt companies, no matter the terms of the arrangement.
He also warned that without action by Congress: “I believe we could lose General Motors by the end of this month.” He said the situation was dire and time was of the essence.
Oh yeah?
Just watch.
How about this for a "viable option"? The UAW present a viable plan for doubling their labor productivity and cutting sick leave usage by 50% over the next 3 years, if they want to keep their jobs?

The Messiah is considered to be AWOL by fellow Dem's
Democrats Impatient With Obama to Weigh In on Economy
WASHINGTON -- Democrats are growing impatient with President-elect Barack Obama's refusal to inject himself in the major economic crises confronting the country.
Obama has sidestepped some policy questions by saying there is only one president at a time. But the dodge is wearing thin.
"He's going to have to be more assertive than he's been," House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., told consumer advocates Thursday.
Frank, who has been dealing with both the bailout of the financial industry and a proposed rescue of Detroit automakers, said Obama needs to play a more significant role on economic issues.
"At a time of great crisis with mortgage foreclosures and autos, he says we only have one president at a time," Frank said. "I'm afraid that overstates the number of presidents we have. He's got to remedy that situation."
Obama has maintained one of the most public images of any president-elect. He has held half a dozen press conferences, where he has entertained question after question about the economy, the mortgage crisis, and the flailing auto industry. He called for passage of extended unemployment benefits -- which has passed -- and even a stimulus package if possible before Jan. 20. But he has stayed away from trying to dictate remedies for the toughest problems Congress is confronting: the auto industry's troubles and how to spend the $700 billion bailout.
That's cause Obama is am empty suit who can spout scripted platitudes into a microphone, has never governed, and has no real idea how to govern.

The BIG3 bailout request would be just the beginning:
Detroit's Big Three Consider Bailout With Strings Attached
The Big Three automakers appealed to Congress for billions in emergency aid Thursday by touting overhauls to their business models, but skeptical lawmakers may be looking to impose even more-severe changes -- possibly including a corporate merger -- as part of the deal.
The latest developments come after a top economist warned that the $34 billion that General Motors, Ford and Chrysler are requesting is just the beginning. Lawmakers are divided over whether the government should intervene and how.
In the first round of hearings Thursday on Capitol Hill, Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, suggested the idea of a merger of Chrysler and General Motors as a condition of receiving government aid. The two companies' CEOs said it was worth considering.
"I'd be very willing to look at it," GM CEO Richard Wagoner said.
"The first job that would go would be mine," Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli said. "But if in fact that's the criteria ... I would do it."
All three executives, including Ford's Alan Mulally, agreed that a multibillion-dollar bailout deal would include a supervisory government board that could order major restructuring of the companies if deemed necessary for survival -- similar to the results in many reorganizing efforts under bankruptcy law.
Of course it would be just the beginning.
I think they ultimately will get a pre-packaged bail out that will include a merger of at least 2 of these firms, some form of a negotiated bankruptcy, and a big pay off tot he UAW for all the support to Obama during the election.
But right now congress is asking the White House to float loans and wear this whole thing for a while so Congress can buy time to screw around some more.
This is not that tough an issue to figure out, your average MBA student deals with case studies like this all the time.
Do you think these companies are viable in the long run or not? What are they planning on doing to make themselves more profitable in the future and sell more cars?
Let me make it simpler for Congress: If your cousin owned a coffee shop this screwed up, would you loan him some money out of your own pocket to make payroll for a few weeks?

Job cuts impacting the MSM.
NBCU To Cut 500 Jobs, Layoffs Begin at NBC News Bureaus
Breaking: TVNewser has learned NBC Universal will be cutting up to 500 jobs in a round of layoffs which are now underway at all levels of the company — television, film and parks. That amounts to about 3% of the workforce. An insider with knowledge of the situation says the cuts are expected to continue into next week.
Teague_12.4.jpgThe NBC News bureaus in Dallas and Los Angeles (Burbank) are already experiencing cuts, with the insider saying Dallas will experience more layoffs than in Burbank.
And,
Scripps putting Rocky Mountain News up for sale
DENVER (AP) - E.W. Scripps Co. says it's putting the Rocky Mountain News up for sale after losing $11 million on the Denver operation in the first nine months of the year. The newspaper announced the development on its Web site Thursday.
Cincinnati-based Scripps has owned the News since 1926. Since 2001, the News has been in a joint operating agreement with The Denver Post, owned by Denver-based MediaNews Group Inc.
Rich Boehne, president and CEO of Scripps, says the company's 50 percent share of the joint operating agreement's cash flow "is no longer enough to support the Rocky, leaving us with no choice but to seek an exit."
Which leaves an interesting question, what are out of work moonbats from the MSM to do for a new career?
Last I checked, Al Queda is not hiring cause Christian Amanapour, the BBC, NYT, NPR and the rest of the MSM is still working hard for them.
The Dem's are not running for any more offices right now, so they can't whore themselves out there at the moment.
And most employers are looking for people with actual marketable skills.

Well Georgie, you'd better point fingers at Obama then for the big drop that's coming in a little while when the bad unemployment numbers get released.
Based on the late sell off yesterday and that the futures are dropping now, I think somebody got a sneak look at the numbers before public release and the market is already discounting for the big number we will see.
I think you will see unemployment go up to 6.8% to 6.9% and about 400,000 more unemployed.

Faith for reasons still unknown
Like 'Bleak House fog' seems everywhere
The truth has faded into stone
And hope lies freezing in the midnight air
Though dark our days may seem
This is a different dream
Their freedom light don't shine at all
So I will light a candle for you
Keep it burning in the night
And pray that you are all right
I will light a candle for you
Little candle burning bright
When school yard heroes disappeared
The little girl, she stands alone
Oh I believe you if you say
A prayer can help to get her home
So I will light a candle for you
Keep it burning in the night
And pray that you are all right
I will light a candle for you
Little candle burning bright

I got to see Robert Bidinotto speak last night. He is fantastic.
The theme of his talk was generally that the positive American sense of life is still in tact, McCain lost the election by supporting the bailout, and the best way to reach people is through story telling. Understanding the principles of freedom is not enough -- being able to translate those principles through stories (e.g. John Stossel or Ronald Reagan or Joe the Plumber) is how you effectively continue to sow the seeds of liberty. I really enjoyed it -- and suggest you seek him out as a speaker if you have the opportunity.

Here we go with the socialism/communism already from Obama:
Obama laying the groundwork for health reform
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President-elect Barack Obama has begun laying the groundwork for overhauling the troubled U.S. healthcare system, reaching out to interest groups and building grass-roots support for the huge undertaking.
Obama, who takes office on January 20, is using many of the Internet tools employed in his election campaign to engage the public. His Internet site [Link: www.change.gov...] asks people to submit ideas for changing the costly and inefficient system that leaves tens of millions uninsured.
"Every American is feeling the pressure of high health costs and lack of quality care, and we feel it's important to engage them in the process of reform," said Obama transition team spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter.
"Change starts from the ground up, and we believe that's true on critical issues like healthcare reform as well."
Obama's coordinator on healthcare, former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, will participate in a healthcare reform debate in Colorado on Friday that is expected to begin detailing the plans for change.
During the campaign, Obama pledged to bring health insurance to millions of uninsured Americans and spend about $50 billion to make U.S. health records electronic.
You watch, he will paint socialized health care as an economic stimulus move.

The real problem is a growing lack of primary care doctors. Doc morale is down (mainly because the government keeps jerking them around with paperwork), more of them are specializing, and fewer young folks are even wanting to go into medicine. We're going to be facing a real Primary Care doctor shortage by 2025.
Emergency Departments are full - not of uninsured people, but of those quite capable of paying. They just can't get into see their doctors in a reasonable time frame, so the go to the hospital. Massachusetts is already seeing that happen.
The care providers is where the real problem lies.

They are changing the definition.
I have family in Ireland where they have nationalized health care.
They have not been able to get in to see a doctor or dentist in years.
Any time they have had a significant health problem, they come over here, stay with me, and pay cash at a local doctor/hospital to get the problem handled.
I remember a few years back on of my relatives in Ireland was diagnosed with a malignant growth in her colon.
They told her she would be dead in 2 years if it was not taken out.
They also told her that the waiting list for an operation was 3 years long...
She came over here, had the operation a couple of months later, recovered here, and is doing fine to this day back home in Ireland.

Yes, you are correct. When I call for an appointment, I am usually able to get one with the "nurse practitioner" before I can get one with a doc.
Now, I don't mind seeing a nurse practitioner for most things. But every now and then I feel like I need the doctor.
Here in Baton Rouge, one of the hospitals has set up a network of "walk-in" clinics that are open until 10 pm; the longest wait I ever had at one was about an hour. These seem to be helping out with emergency room overuse.

$25 / barrel would mean producers cap wells and a lot of petroleum would stop coming to the market until prices increased again.
During the time when supplies were insufficient to meet demand he scenario would be scary.

People who never go to a doctor (unless they arrive in an ambulance with full lights and siren) will go see the doc about every little thing if it is "free". I was speaking to an Emergency Care doc who said this guy came in with a broken nose - the patient knew that it was just broken, but the daughter saw blood, panicked, and called the rescue squad - and once they had his nose patched up, the guy says "I've got Medicaid, Doc, so give me a EKG to make sure the ol' ticker is working good. Oh, might as well throw in a blood test, too, since I'm not paying for it!"

There's another side to this to consider.
These oil producing countries have become addicted to petrodollars flooding in to keep their economies going. They just can't sit back and wait for prices to go up.
They have to produce and keep taking the product to the market and they know it.
Oil is also fungible, so there is the risk that if they don't produce it, somebody else will and take the product to the market and take over market share.

So when regional office schedule the physical they Scheduled At WBMC. When I tryed to reschedule it they told me it would be a 4-5 week period of time before I'd be seen if I wanted to reschedule at the closer Hospital. On top of that I arrived 15 minutes early only to be seen 1.5 hours late but on the plus side they got me an outside consult for my MRI's and was lying on the tray in 15 minutes.

I was born with a heart defect. But Emory has one of the best Adult Congenital Cardiac Care programs in the South! So I go about every six months, but I'm doing great and they usually send me home in a few hours.

/idiots.
My only experience with the VA was to get my ear evaluated (my right ear was blown out from the blast) as to hearing loss.
They said it was normal.
I never bothered with them again... I don't like blind doctors.
When I retired, they gave me the option of a DOD disability retirement or to work through the VA (don't recall the details), I chose wisely, it seems.

Speaking of Chris Matthews love affair with Obama, this is from the from page of his website for the Chris Matthews Show.
CHRIS MATTHEWS, host:
Could this be the big one? Times are desperate. Will the mountain of crises
our country faces let Barack Obama do great things, and with all the crises
will even Republicans see that historic steps are required? The honeymooners. Will Obama's focus on the economy postpone the inevitable culture wars? As long as Obama doesn't hit the usual tripwires on gay rights and abortion, will critics on the right give him his honeymoon?
And, finally, isn't it ironic? The radical right tried during the campaign to
turn Barack Obama into an international terrorist, but now it's Obama who has the real terrorists waging preemptive war. Could they be really scared of this guy?Hi, I'm Chris Matthews. Welcome to the show.
News flash to Matthews: The Dem's have been in control of Congress for 2 years now, so they own the problems out there. 2 years ago the economy was doing real well.
Terrorists scared of Obama?
My gosh Matthews, they have done nothing but laugh at him, threaten him and attack since the election.

Yes, anything unpleasant will do. We all know its not the dog's fault. But they don't learn with reason, either.
Another way, would be to (if its not too far or dark) is to let out a low growl and bare your teeth. (Trying to establish dominance over the dog and letting her know the big dog doesn't like what she is doing.) Works wonders if you can hit the right note.

Back home in time to see my daughter off to middle school. I'm just tired of being fat, weak and out of shape. Plus this was a great stress buster during the elections and round of layoffs that my company just went thru. Never in jeopardy and I knew that I wasn't, but still isn't pleasant to know that one of the team members are gonna get the axe thru no fault of their own. Well, here's today's blather from the moonbat (genus; fakus christianus) that I've been dealing with on another site. Not to excuse every jewish behavior for 60 years, but the KD hotel was British military housing, was it not? Did a lot of civilians die in that? Regardless, no one celebrates them or the Stern Gang or holds them up as heroes for children to emulate, etc... That says a lot.
You say that I dont make a difference between targetting non-combatants and accidentally hitting them. This could not be farther from the truth. The Israelis have targeted non-combatants repeatedly. The Irgun blew up the King David Hotel. The Stern Gang commited atrocity after atrocity. Ariel Sharon himself stood guard over a massacre at Sabra and Shatila as Palestinian civilians were slaughtered by his allies.
What I am trying to say is that neither side has the moral high ground here.
A student looked me in the eyes today and said, "You dont think Im evil, do you?" I looked back at him and said, "no, I dont." He followed up asking me why my country continues to stereotype him and his people as being violent and bloodthirsty.
Most people at Sabeel are well versed in both sides of the struggle. They see the truths on both sides. From there, they seek to make steps towards a just peace. To my eternal frustration, I see no such awareness among most American Christians. Israel regularly invites Christian Church leaders as well as politicians to come to Israel to see the "truth." The truths that they show are usually half truths at best.
Half truths on both sides of the conflict lead to "Israel bashing" or "Arab bashing" as the case may be. Part of what I want to do (on both sides of the conflict) is to put an end to these half truths.
When I look at the American media, I see only half truths (and crooked ones at that). For this reason, I am quite tollerant of people in America who balance the media by criticizing Israel for a change. Likewise, in the Middle East, I try to balance things in the other direction. Their media is overwhelmingly anti-Israel. I try to help my Arab friends see the broader picture.

Well he was Defense Minister when the Christian Phalangists went into the Palestinian Refugee Camp after the assassination of their leader. What exactly Sharon knew or did not know about the events of that night are disputed. Sharon was probably in Jerusalem. But he was the Officer in Charge, so he did bear responsibility for the security of the area. I believe an Inquiry Board in Israel found him " Indirectly" responsible. Sharon of course disputes that.

Don't know if this has been posted yet but:
Guitarist Satriani accuses Coldplay of plagiarism
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rock guitarist Joe Satriani has sued British band Coldplay, accusing the Grammy-nominated stars of plagiarizing one of his songs.
Satriani's copyright infringement suit, filed on Thursday in Los Angeles federal court, claims the Coldplay song "Viva La Vida" incorporates "substantial original portions" of his 2004 instrumental "If I Could Fly."
The 52-year-old guitar virtuoso is seeking a jury trial, damages and "any and all profits" attributable to the alleged copyright infringement.
Coldplay, whose soaring atmospheric tunes are often compared to those of Irish rock band U2, received seven Grammy nominations on Wednesday, second only to rapper Lil Wayne.
Among its mentions were nominations in the key record and song of the year categories for "Viva La Vida," which comes from the band's chart-topping album "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends."
The song is credited to the band's four members, singer Chris Martin; bass player Guy Berryman; guitarist Johnny Buckland; and drummer Will Champion. The title was inspired by a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
The Satriani track comes from his album "Is There Love in Space?" Further comment from Satriani's attorney, or reaction from Coldplay's management was not immediately available.
