My husband said I should not celebrate someone going to prison...hell with that, I'm celebrating! (He hates OJ as much as I do, btw.)

19 dainn  Fri, Dec 5, 2008 12:41:16pm

I watched OJ's plea for mercy from the judge. Summary: I didn't do it, but if I did, I didn't know it was a crime, and we didn't mean to be violent, what with all the guns and stuff.

The judge did an excellent job of explaining that her sentence had nothing to do with the previous trial, which is good because that is what all us civilians were thinking: the double murder is finally going to spend some quality time looking for the killer behind bars.

I hope he serves all 16. We will all get to revist OJ in 5 years when he is elgible for parole, and every year thereafter until he's released. So OJ remains a pillar of our modern culture!

He is a violent man. He will do something to screw his parole chances. My dad, who is a corrections officer, says he may not make it thru the sentence alive, as most guys in there loved their moms (he murdered the mother of his children) and most of them had violent fathers, and someone doing life without parole will not like the fact he got away with what he did, so they cannot be punished further. Jailhouse murders rarely draw a death sentence.

Please tell me what she has ever done to deserve this besides being born to a certain person?

Senator Sweet Caroline?

Another Senator Kennedy? The crazy speculation about Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat may not be so crazy after all. A Democrat who would know tells ABC News that New York governor David Paterson has talked to Caroline Kennedy about taking the seat, which was once held by her uncle, Robert F. Kennedy. It’s not exactly shocking that Paterson would reach out to one of the most highly respected public figures in New York, but this is: Sources say Kennedy is considering it, and has not ruled out coming to Washington to replace Hillary Clinton in the Senate.

Paterson needs to get rid of his biggest Democratic primary rival, Cuomo. Appointing him to the U.S. Senate is the way to do it. I've seen Cuomo speak, and although he's not as bright as his father, he's more circumspect about going after Wall Street.

re: #39 CapeCoddah

He is a violent man. He will do something to screw his parole chances. My dad, who is a corrections officer, says he may not make it thru the sentence alive, as most guys in there loved their moms (he murdered the mother of his children) and most of them had violent fathers, and someone doing life without parole will not like the fact he got away with what he did, so they cannot be punished further. Jailhouse murders rarely draw a death sentence.

Dinged up not because I desire OJ to suffer, but because you're right. Also, consider the racial hate that first trial stirred up. If he's in a mixed population, some whiteboy is going to shank him.

The ensuing riots, inside the prison system and perhaps outside, are not something to which I look forward.

That and the fact that his parole hearings will be less about his conviction and more about the double murder. It won't be like the Manson family parole hearings: they were convicted of murder.

Minn. baby sitter admits using child in porn film
Yahoo! Bookmarks Print Fri Dec 5, 9:35 am ETMINNEAPOLIS – A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to answering an online advertisement for baby-sitting work and then using the client's child to make a pornographic video.

In a plea deal with federal prosecutors, Aaron Jay Lemon admitted Wednesday to producing the video. The 23-year-old from Little Canada also admitted to coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct.

The plea agreement says Lemon filmed the child in St. Paul after seeking the baby-sitting job through Craigslist. St. Paul police say the victim was a 2-year-old girl.

The U.S. attorney's office says the case was part of a project that encourages agencies to investigate the sexual exploitation of children over the Internet.

The office says Lemon faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.

I've always maintained that OJ's probably a coke- or meth-head. Both the Simpson/Goldman murders and the holdup reek of speed-freak impulsiveness, irrationality and overkill. He summoned the elevator on the 7th floor. It arrived. He entered the car. Pressed the button. It went down just a few feet, and got stuck part-way down to the 6th floor. After many hours of futile banging and yelling, he pried open the inner elevator doors and somehow got them to stay open. He could then see, from the back, the exterior doors leading to the 6th floor. (But only the top half of them.) On his stomach, reaching down, he was able to pry open the exterior 6th floor doors. He then tried to wriggle out through them to the 6th floor landing, but the doors must have suddenly opened all the way, and he fell down to the edge of the 6th floor doorway, and then backwards into the open shaft, which was exposed underneath the stuck elevator car.

That's good. Still, I believe that you can't carry in national forrests, correct? Or some buildings in national parks that might be considered federal facilities?

Get's confusing real fast.

Nope you've always been able to carry in National Forests. You can even HUNT in national forests.

Of course, many have always carried in National Parks without any problem. There's a reason they call it "concealed" carry.

(from the aticle)

"Once again, political leaders in the Bush administration have ignored the preferences of the American public by succumbing to political pressure, in this case generated by the National Rifle Association," said Bill Wade, president of the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees.

"This regulation will put visitors, employees and precious resources of the National Park System at risk. We will do everything possible to overturn it and return to a commonsense approach to guns in national parks that has been working for decades," Wade said.

I think Wade was Superintendant of the Shenandoah National Park when two lesbians were killed while camping. I suspect that if they had been carrying they would not have been "put at risk."

There are some nasy people living around that park (think "deliverance") but thing have improved greatly in the last 20 years.

London church hosts anti-Israel carols
December 5, 2008
(JTA) -- An Anglican church in London hosted an evening of anti-Israel Christmas carols.

The "Bethlehem Now: Nine Alternative Lessons and Carols for Palestine" event, sponsored by a group called Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods & Open Bethlehem, took place Nov. 26 at the St. James church in Picadilly, in London's West End. The money raised, about $15 per ticket, went to charities in Bethlehem.

A chorus called Pax Christi performed. According to British media reports, the "Twelve Days of Christmas Carol" was rewritten as: "Twelve assassinations / Eleven homes demolished / Ten wells obstructed / Nine sniper towers / Eight gunships firing / Seven checkpoints blocking / Six tanks a-rolling / Five settlement rings / Four falling bombs / Three trench guns / Two trampled doves / And an uprooted olive tree."

So-called Jews hosting Xmas celebrations, singing Xmas songs, in a Church... Wow, so they are so off Halacha, I don't know where to start.

"Once in David's Royal City" became "Once in Royal David's City / Stood a big apartheid wall / People entering and leaving / Had to pass a checkpoint hall / Bethlehem was strangulated / And her children segregated."

After complaints from the current and past Archbishop of Canterbury as well as from Jewish groups, the church's rector said he would "think twice" before hosting a similar event.

Happiness is contagious: study

They needed a study for this? Of course!
So chuck all your friends who may not be happy
due to an illness or loss or some other troubling
event in their life and just hook up with happy,
happy, happy people. You don't want to be drained
by "energy vampires" as the new agers say.
Just be selfish, keep in contact with only happy people
and let others who may be down on their luck
or need a helping hand just rot
in the land of misery. Fucking new
age psychologists. Their worthless studies
are destroying what used to be known as common human decency.
Today it's all : me, me , me. Pick up any book by these
new age guru vampires who suck your wallet dry
while they wash your brain with happiness.

I'm proud of CapeCoddah, but we keep a single CC because, when you pay cash you lose your bargaining ability if something goes wrong.
Like the time I bought a fridge and it didn't start cooling!
the place we bought it from tried to pass the buck (good analogy hmmm).
So the CC company threatened to stop doing business with the place I got it from unless they took the bad one and replaced it in 24 hours or less.
They did.
I don't have a bank card, just the CC and pay it all the way off every month.

Yeah, we have a Visa tied to the checking account for that. But, the money has to be in the checking account, and is debited directly out. No monthly bill, same protections.

Well, either you're closing your eyes
To a situation you do now wish to acknowledge
Or you are not aware of the caliber of disaster indicated
By the presence of a pool table in your community.
Ya got trouble, my friend, right here,
I say, trouble right here in River City.
Why sure I'm a billiard player,
Certainly mighty proud I say
I'm always mighty proud to say it.
I consider that the hours I spend
With a cue in my hand are golden.
Help you cultivate horse sense
And a cool head and a keen eye.
Never take and try to give
An iron-clad leave to yourself
From a three-reail billiard shot?
But just as I say,
It takes judgement, brains, and maturity to score
In a balkline game,
I say that any boob kin take
And shove a ball in a pocket.
And they call that sloth.
The first big step on the road
To the depths of deg-ra-Day--
I say, first, medicinal wine from a teaspoon,
Then beer from a bottle.
An' the next thing ya know,
Your son is playin' for money
In a pinch-back suit.
And list'nin to some big out-a-town Jasper
Hearin' him tell about horse-race gamblin'
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no!
But a race where they set down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey'boy
Sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil?
Well, I should say.
Friends, lemme tell you what I mean.
Ya got one, two, three, four, five, six pockets in a table.
Pockets that mark the diff'rence
Between a gentlemen and a bum
With a capital "B,"
And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool!
And all week long your River City
Youth'll be frittern away,
I say your young men'll be frittern!
Frittern away their noontime, suppertime, choretime too!
Get the ball in the pocket,
Never mind gittin' Dandelions pulled
Or the screen door patched or the beefsteak pounded.
Never mind pumpin' any water
'Til your parents are caught with the Cistern empty
On a Saturday night and that's trouble,
Oh, yes we got lots and lots a' trouble.
I'm thinkin' of the kids in the knickerbockers,
Shirt-tail young ones, peekin' in the pool
Hall window after school, look, folks!
Right here in River City.
Trouble with a capital "T"
And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool!
Now, I know all you folks are the right kinda parents.
I'm gonna be perfectly frank.
Would ya like to know what kinda conversation goes
On while they're loafin' around that Hall?
They're tryin' out Bevo, tryin' out cubebs,
Tryin' out Tailor Mades like Cigarette Feends!
And braggin' all about
How they're gonna cover up a tell-tale breath with Sen-Sen.
One fine night, they leave the pool hall,
Headin' for the dance at the Arm'ry!
Libertine men and Scarlet women!
And Rag-time, shameless music
That'll grab your son and your daughter
With the arms of a jungle animal instink!
Mass-staria!
Friends, the idle brain is the devil's playground!

People:
Trouble, oh we got trouble,
Right here in River City!
With a capital "T"
That rhymes with "P"
And that stands for Pool,
That stands for pool.
We've surely got trouble!
Right here in River City,
Right here!
Gotta figger out a way
To keep the young ones moral after school!
Trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble...

Harold:
Mothers of River City!
Heed the warning before it's too late!
Watch for the tell-tale sign of corruption!
The moment your son leaves the house,
Does he rebuckle his knickerbockers below the knee?
Is there a nicotine stain on his index finger?
A dime novel hidden in the corn crib?
Is he starting to memorize jokes from Capt.
Billy's Whiz Bang?
Are certain words creeping into his conversation?
Words like 'swell?"
And 'so's your old man?"
Well, if so my friends,
Ya got trouble,
Right here in River city!
With a capital "T"
And that rhymes with "P"
And that stands for Pool.
We've surely got trouble!
Right here in River City!
Remember the Maine, Plymouth Rock and the Golden Rule!
Oh, we've got trouble.
We're in terrible, terrible trouble.
That game with the fifteen numbered balls is a devil's tool!
Oh yes we got trouble, trouble, trouble!
With a "T" Gotta rhyme it with "P"
And that stands for Pool!

Oh Yeah - GO ARMY! We're overdue! Besides, I'm getting real tired of my retired Navy Bro-in-law, my niece (Annapolis Class of 2005) and my Grandson (Annaplois Class of 2010) calling me after the game.

Nam Vet US Army 67 - 70

My favorite game of the year. I have a friend who not watch any other sport if you paid him. He tunes in every year for the Army Navy game every year.

USS Independence 81-85
GO NAVY!

Wow. I've just came across some of the most beautiful switchblade knives I have ever seen. Damascus steel, exotic handle materials like Mastodon tooth, absolutely gorgeous workmanship. The cheap ones are running about a grand.

Wah.

that's more than a knife. it's become sculpture.
did you get you one?

499 nyc redneck  Fri, Dec 5, 2008 3:17:09pm

it was just a matter of time until OJ got caught breaking the law again.
he is a sociopath. he got away w/ murder.
i bet the thought kidnapping and armed robbery were a piece of cake.
i'm sure he thought he would walk on those charges too.
finally he got a little real justice.

(i hope the goldman family has some peace in their lives.
and can move on from the monstrous OJ.)

re: #417 vxbush

The birth certificate is important. I hope that the full "long form" can be released to the public. I have a bit of a hard time having a private foundation get to look at it, but the rest of us can't when the government of Hawaii says they will not release it to anyone. The next piece is to release his college applications and any travel me may have done on an Indonesian passport after age 18. My read of the law in the finding of
307 U.S. 325
59 S.Ct. 884
83 L.Ed. 1320
PERKINS, Secretary of Labor, et al.
v.
ELG. ELG v. PERKINS, Secretary of Labor, et al.
Nos. 454, 455.
Argued Feb. 3, 1939.
Decided May 29, 1939.

seems to indicate that a minor born in this country can reside abroad and be treated as a citizen of that country providing they return to the US by the age of majority and assume the duties of US citizenship and still be considered a natural born citizen. Important in the context of Berg's argument about Indonesia. However I may be interpreting ELG v Perkins wrong. However, what is true is that if he listed himself as a citizen of either Indonesia or Kenya on his college applications, or used an Indonesian passport after age 18, he would have violated the conditions described in Elg v Perkins and certainly not even be a citizen at all.

The born abroad thing is only important in the context of the prevailing rules that required his mother to have lived in the states for 5 years after the age of 14.

Anyway, I think it is in the best interest of Mr. Obama to clear the air on this stuff unless he has something to hide. Otherwise his presidency will be continually undermined by doubts as to its legitimacy.

Yeah he was quite a case. I knew somebody who played pro football and who was on one of the superbowl teams. His comments about OJ were basically unprintable as far as his skirt chasing psychopathic behaviour.

504 Empire1  Fri, Dec 5, 2008 3:28:56pm

I wanna choke a lawyer. Not necessarily to death, tempting as that is after having to put up with his prolix vorbosity for the past week -- but definitely enough to shut him the *&$% UP!

And no, I'm not off jury duty yet, even though today was supposed to be my group's last day -- thanks to that lawyer, and nothing ever starting even close to on time. Anything less than an hour late was/is a pleasant surprise. Right now I have a strong urge to do something violently antisocial, so I suppose I'd better go find some dragons to trash so I can relax for the weekend.

There was a bombing in Pakistan today and we had some really bad job news, yet the top posts here are about OJ and Plaxico.

I hate to say it, but in some aspects, LGF is becoming MSM.

If we were becoming the MSM (aka MFM) all of our avatars would become lemmings...that would be the first clue.

Here's a little diversion for a Friday evening - a guy calling into Roger, Rick and Marilyn's Morning Show witnesses an accident - a man hit a car with four little old ladies, who in turn start beating the heck out of this guy.

Lesson: if you hit a car with old ladies in it, be humble and respectful. Or else.

re: #160 3 wood

By the way for those who care, the DOW ended up 260 points today.

Oil is down to $41.48

10 year treasuries are at 2.69%

I bought gas today for $1.61 a gallon.

3wood -

I would be happier if the closing price/bbl began with a "3" - seems that it is the fate of Primarily Petroleum Based economies to become totalitarian mischief makers. Less income = Less mischief.

I listened to the OJ statement and I kind of believe him. He thought he was repossessing his stuff. wow - he has to go die in jail because of a lack of common sense and the fact that he was acting like a cowboy to get some stuff back fro some ex friends.

Seems harsh if the judge wasn't doing a make up for the murder trial - seems pretty clear that it is in fact a make up sentence - wonder if that gives his lawyers some room for appeals.

re: #283 WrathofG-d

I've erased four sentences trying to comment. Shameful. Why don't they just go ahead and be good, honest Leftist atheists? They are hollow. I'd rather they threw out the trappings and lip-service to faith and just go ahead and be social activists or community organizers. Jackasses.

For anyone interested, here's a poll from MSNBC asking whether we should take In God We Trust off our currency.

513 Rancher  Fri, Dec 5, 2008 10:47:36pm

It's only 33 if the judge has him serve consecutively instead of concurrently. If hes allowed concurrent sentences he'll be in 18 years(the longest sentence for the worst charged crime) and eligible for parole in 6 I believe.

Rustler

514 Rancher  Fri, Dec 5, 2008 10:51:31pm

re: #509 RickJ
Kidnapping and using deadly force is hardly repossessing his stuff. If he truely wanted to get his stuff back legally he would have involved law enforcement. He didn't know it was former friends who had his stuff he only had heard someone in Las Vegas did from what I heard.

515 Rancher  Fri, Dec 5, 2008 10:54:48pm

re: #514 Rancher What he did was more vigilanteism than repossession. He gathered a posse went to confront people. If 3 people walk into a store to rob it but only one has a gun they are all just as guilty under the law of making lifethreatening threats to the store owner. Just like all 3 are equally guilty if the one idiot shoots the clerk.
