We discovered a bug in our Ajax commenting system this morning, and the fix involved changing several important files.

And you know what that means: time to reload the page.

  • Comments do not necessarily reflect the views of Little Green Footballs.
  • Obscene, abusive, silly, or annoying remarks may be deleted, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their views by Little Green Footballs.
  • Posts that contain phone numbers, street addresses, email addresses or other personal information will also be deleted, as will posts that consist only of a variation on the word, "First!"
  • Comments that advocate violence will be cause for immediate banning with no appeal.
  • Disagreement and debate are welcome, but insults and abuse are not, and may cause your account to be blocked.
  • REMEMBER: posting comments at LGF is a privilege, not a right. Abuse that privilege, and your account will be blocked.

I found yesterday that the links in my profile to my posts were extremely limited. Instead of links to comments made within the past seven days, it shows only links from today and a few from yesterday.

Just opened my email, and LGF disappeared! Maybe an AOHell glitch, rather than an LGF one-but AOHell does use IE for new webpages...I'm just curious as to the WHY. The two left parties want to control parliment. They would need the support of the Bloc Quebecois to do it though( a separtist party.) The new government has barely sat down and they want to over throw it and put themselves in power. We just went through our federal elections 6-7 weeks ago.

re: #85 Charles

What browser?

Whoa! Charles? I just got that message flashed (Firefox 3.0 whatever, latest and greatest) when my mouse and I had a little disagreement.

In other words, my mouse sent me back to the last thread, and, when I clicked forward, the red message flashed.

If you like, I'll do it again.

Bad Language? Oh, on your part from frustration-I see. Pick up the phone, call your local FBI office, and explain what you want. If no local office, look for an 800 number. Govt is inefficient, but it can be worked around. Good Luck.

Thanks. I think that is what I'll have to do.

not anti-officer per se, just generally underwhelmed with a large number of them that i dealt with over the years, from all sources. the Academy ones were either very good, or very full of themselves.

might have just been my luck, but i met more of the later than the former.

OK, i WILL agree with you Navy Officer and Naval Academy Graduate Jimmy Carter was the biggest loser I've ever saluted as my President!

Chief Executive Officer of the USA Jimmy Carter thought Robert Mugabe would make a great president.

Did anyone see where Archibishop Desmond Tutu stole my wording about Mugabe turning Zimbabwe from Breadbasket to Basket Case?

Well, that proves it's coming from the PJ Media code.

When Peanut was running, I reached out to my 'Swabbie' friends, and was told he was asked to "request' early departure from the Navy-after 4 years! He was an Annapolis grad, but was so hated by shipmates (Officer and enlisted), they ALLOWED him to leave after only 4 years of a 6 year (minimum) commitment. Obviously, I didn't vote for him, but had to serve under him...:>(

Sensitive subject. I honor both officers & enlisted. Me old dad was a mustang, or one who was first enlisted, got himself booksmart using GI Bill, then went to Naval Academy and became an officer.

I love & honor all who serve!

no offense meant on my end... and good for your Dad. there's probably many sailors who remember him as their best officer.

me? i'm the trooper who bought and carried a GPS (after they became available) simply because i was tired of poorly trained and flat wrong people who happened to out rank me insisting that we were someplace other than where i said on the map because of said rank disparity.

after they pulled rank i'd simply point out that yes i was just a lowly SP4, and they definitely out ranked me, but that billions of dollars of technology agreed with me...

the poisonous looks that i got after they read the display was worth every penny that Magellan cost me, but i never had to go there twice with any of them. %-)

It was odd, I must say. It flashed up for me, but it didn't stay.

Since technical issues are definitely not my forte, I have no idea what happened.

127 Lee Coller  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 12:57:49pm

Charles,

Here's a bug I've heard others report, and it happened to me yesterday. I ended up with a thread that had repeated comments (with the same numbers). What I think happened was that I clicked the new comments button, it then went into the spinning wheel mode, and while that was happening I posted a new comment. When the refresh was done I had repeated comments, including the one that I had just posted.

I'm guessing that's not an easy fix (and probably not even worth doing).

maybe that's the source of the error message i'm getting at AoS right now:

We got rid of many, but you always had 1 or 2 ROAD (retired on active duty) Aholes anywhere you went. Best bet was to confront them, cower them, and they'd never bother you again. This was especially important to do, if they worked in Admin/Personnel areas...true fact.

144 Charles Johnson  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 1:14:05pm

Well, it's fixed here at LGF, but you may still see it at other PJ network sites.

All I did was take the code that would normally be generated by the PJ Media Javascript, and embed it in the page as normal HTML.

They must be monkeying around with their code.

Odd. I logged out and saw the red version, logged back in and refreshed, and got the blue version.
