That was funny. Someone spent like, oh, six minutes on that, tops.

2 JammieWearingFool  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:40:22pm

I'd tickle her ivories.

3 poopeedoo  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:40:45pm

Sarah in the key of B(eauty).

5 LoFlyer  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:43:39pm

Where was the humor? Besides that the piano drowned out half of what Palin was saying, was that it?

6 BlueCanuck  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:44:13pm

re: #5 LoFlyer

Actually the piano was paced to her speaking. Really cool.

7 Bob Dillon  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:44:25pm

Cute.

8 Silhouette  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:44:43pm

It was okay, but it was no Theme from the Charlie Brown Christmas Special.

9 godfrey  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:45:17pm

Cool!

Do one for Biden.

10 JammieWearingFool  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:47:02pm

Can someone set The Wizard of Uhhhs to music?

11 Shug  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:47:15pm

Sarah makes my Hoagy Carmichael stand to attention

12 godfrey  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:47:25pm

She was kinda pantonal, yeah. But who would actually speak like a tune by Hoagy Carmichael?

13 Aye Pod  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:48:22pm

That was funny.

They should've replaced Katie Couric's voice with Charlie Brown's school teacher's.

16 Peter Verkooijen  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 2:49:09pm

Not really funny, but fascinating. Has this ever been done before, improvising music to prerecorded spoken word? It's a concept with endless possibilities.

Obama's lead speechwriter (you didn't think he didn't have one, did you?) is a guy named Jon Favreau. Here's a pic. He issued an apology.

I'll have you know that Biden is a self-made man. That's good. That way no one else has to take the blame.

26 Ojoe  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 3:00:18pm

Whoever is playing the piano has a great future when the movies go silent again.

27 opnion  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 3:02:15pm

re: #23 godfrey

Wow. You know, Biden has an IQ greater than all of ours, combined.

For a guy who thinks that FDR took to the TV airwaves before people had TV's & before Roosvelt was actually president, Biden has a real inflated notion of his own intellect.

28 godfrey  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 3:03:27pm

I miss the big anxious diminished chords, though. Those always get me riled up.

I read about this yesterday, and didn't click the link. I wish I had. Now, I can't hear it.

No, we have not figured out why videos will not play sound. Or, more accurately, the Male has not figured it out, and hasn't really looked that hard.

At least the music library can and does play. I guess that will have to do.

Dianna, there is a volume setting on the actual video, also. Check that. Mouse over the vid to bring up the control bar while it is playing. All vids have a separate volume control.

re: #31 Killian Bundy

Cause I have heard several of his sound bites where he tauts his own ego & diminishes others.

Believe me Dianna, you are blessed in not having sound for this vid...

38 Smilla  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 3:11:04pm

Further to my previous post on this video in the previous thread, this is Camille Paglia on Palin:

I like Sarah Palin, and I've heartily enjoyed her arrival on the national stage. As a career classroom teacher, I can see how smart she is -- and quite frankly, I think the people who don't see it are the stupid ones, wrapped in the fuzzy mummy-gauze of their own worn-out partisan dogma. So she doesn't speak the King's English -- big whoop! There is a powerful clarity of consciousness in her eyes. She uses language with the jumps, breaks and rippling momentum of a be-bop saxophonist.

Right on, Camille. Pity you couldn't see so clearly about 0bama, but you almost make up for it on Palin.

39 hous bin pharteen  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 3:12:19pm

Real good game.
USC is beating UCLA. Even as the visiting team USC coach insists on wearing thier home jersys. He is peanlized one time out per half.
When he played Notre Dame last week , he had no problem with his players blocking ND coming out for warm ups & taunting them.

You gotta love radical leftists. Like Ayers was just "into" the anti-war scenes. Just a peacekeeper. Not a terrorist. But they shut the hell up after the North Vietnam genocide. Its wrong to fight for and save civilans, like Afghanistan, Iraq, South Vietnam, etc. But its okay with them if you massacre millions of people for there leftist polical ideas.

Zimbabwe introduces 200m dollar note

INFLATION-wracked Zimbabwe plans to introduce a 200 million dollar note just days after a 100 million dollar note came into circulation, the government has announced.

The 200 million dollar note, announced in a notice in the government gazette on Friday, will bring to 28 the number of notes put into circulation by the central bank this year alone, as the country struggles with the world's highest inflation rate of 231 million per cent.

On Thursday the central bank introduced 100 million, 50 million and 10 million dollar notes while at the same time increasing withdrawal limits for individuals and companies.

The 100 million dollar note is worth only about $US14, and its value erodes by the day.

They've finally fixed the bugs in GTA 4 so I've had a chance to play a bit. Highly recommended if you're a fan of the series. They kept this version pretty edgy and the game is huge. There's also a lot of added content of the radio (you can even watch TV in the game). This version has an Eastern European theme so there's a lot of cool Russian rap music that you've never heard before.

I was out running with fellow cadets and we spotted them practicing, so stopped to have a look. And that was 20 years ago, and he sill looks the same!

You noticed that the summer after they raised the minimum wage, there were a bunch of newspaper articles about how high school students couldn't find a job..

Gee Wonder Why?

They have cleaned it up a little. It's a little more PC than previous episodes but it's still pretty good. I'm really addicted to the open style of gameplay. GTA games have spoiled all the other games for me where you just run down hallways and shoot monsters. I really like Lazlo (the DJ) and this time he got Opie, Anthony, Ron and Fez to do characters in the game so I really like that too.

121 The Other Les  Sat, Dec 6, 2008 4:01:30pm

What most people don’t realize is that The Matrix is really a remake of the 1969 East German film Wirklichkeit ist eine Illusion, also lassen Sie uns sprechen Rätsel, Eintragfaden-Polizei und Tanzkampf (”Reality is an Illusion, so Let Us Speak Riddles, Shoot Police and Dancefight”). This film was made in response to the large number of philosophically obscure European films released in 1968 and the East German communists didn’t want to be left in the dust by their Western opposite numbers (It’s the RED pill for a reason).

Unfortunately the East German censors were either not “read in” on the project or they didn’t care and they refused to approve of its release and the film was placed into storage until the fall of the East German communist government in 1989. After a very short limited release a number of VHS copies of the film made it to Los Angeles and the rest is history.

(Yes, I’m kidding.)

They seem to have taken out some of the racial stereotypes. I just started playing but I noticed that you can't pick up prostitutes in the game anymore. Maybe that comes later in the game or they took it out all together. Also I notice that people don't really die when you beat the snot out of them. What I found disheartening about the Palin debate was the utter lack of journalistic responsibility by the media in their pit-bull attacks of Palin. If Hillary had been nominated VP and her daughter pregnant, they would of been cheering Chelsea on to have more babies. Meanwhile many women found themselves turned off by Palins "macho" female personae that is so beloved by the feminists that NOW immediately denounced Palin as not being "a real women" because of political ideology.

Hi {goddess} - I sure hope not - remember you're talking to a techtard here!

Right click on Taskbar->Start Menu Tab->Classic Start Menu. Now you will not be able to tell the difference between XP and Vista.

Talkin about games...

Fallout 3

Great writing and voice acting in this game. Particularly like Malcolm McDowall as 'President' John Henry Eden, whose voice is usually heard from the floating 'eyebots' that patrol settlements in the wastelands. "I'm your President, and I think it's time we had a little chat..."

Thank you very much - but I must say nice things about Best Buy - after they tried on 3 different occasions to fix this 20 month old computer, with no success, they gave me a credit for the FULL purchase price, so all I have to pay for is the data transfer!

Hey y'all - just a quick virtually drive by posting - but Best Buy, via the Geek Squad, is delivering, setting up and doing data transfer to my NEW computer tomorrow! I'll be off-line for a while I suspect, since it's a VISTA and I have very little knowledge of the VISTA system (but couldn't find an XP anywhere).
Whoo-Hoo - Christmas comes early for realwest! LOL!

You will like Vista when you learn about it. I love it.

re: #188 LoFlyer

What I found disheartening about the Palin debate was the utter lack of journalistic responsibility by the media in their pit-bull attacks of Palin. If Hillary had been nominated VP and her daughter pregnant, they would of been cheering Chelsea on to have more babies. Meanwhile many women found themselves turned off by Palins "macho" female personae that is so beloved by the feminists that NOW immediately denounced Palin as not being "a real women" because of political ideology.
/It truly sux mates!

it is nonsensical. "feminists" are tied in a knot. they can't even explain why they don't like her. i have actually told some one my friends, "if you don't like her, you don't like me." that shuts them up.

She does indeed. Sarah Palin challenges all their preconceived notions (and the fact that they hold preconceived notions while protesting that they don't) about what a feminist/woman/mother/female politician should be. They hate her so much it's embarrassing. Their jealousy is plain to see - she truly *has it all.*

re: #16 Peter Verkooijen

Has this ever been done before, improvising music to prerecorded spoken word? It's a concept with endless possibilities.

It was done many time in early jazz, but probably the most famous example is from Steve Vai's recording "Flexible", a track called "So Happy". It is a stunning display of technique and virtuosity.

The liner credits for the track are hysterical. "Jailhouse Rape Moans, Unbalanced Whitney Midget". Fun stuff right after Vai left Zappa's band.
