Gitmo Terrorists Want to ‘Confess’

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, is apparently planning to make a full confession in his Guantanamo tribunal in hopes of getting the death penalty.

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba – The alleged mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks and four co-defendants told a military judge Monday they want to immediately confess at their war-crimes tribunal, setting up likely guilty pleas and their possible executions.

The five said they decided on Nov. 4, the day President-elect Barack Obama was elected to the White House, to abandon all defenses against the capital charges. It was as if they wanted to rush toward convictions before the inauguration of Obama, who has vowed to end the war-crimes trials and close Guantanamo.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two others said they would postpone entering pleas until the military determines their two co-defendants are mentally competent. “We want everyone to plead together,” he said.

Mohammed and another defendant have said they would welcome execution as a path to martyrdom…

They just withdrew the plea, until the two legally represented terrorists are tried. They want to see if they get the death penalty if they are convicted first. These asses are representing themselves.

Another reason I'm against the death penalty. You allow people who want to die as martyrs their wish. Just let them live the rest of their lives in jail.

I know in the criminal justice system that locking away for life is cheaper than execution. Maybe this isn't the case in military tribunals? Even if it costs more I'd want them in jail forever and ever.

Anyone who has made a decision to prosecute jihad to the limit, accepting the risk of martyrdom, is by this insane definition, insane. It's insulting, in the end. Watch for a jihadi attack on the judge who fails to sentence the martyr to death...for that judge has insulted the faith that brooks no insult.

OT, though not entirely:

A very good Mark Steyn piece on the moral confusion over the Mumbai massacre:

Spread a rumor that a Koran got flushed down the can at Gitmo, and there’ll be rioting throughout the Muslim world. Publish some dull cartoons in a minor Danish newspaper, and there’ll be protests around the planet. But slaughter the young pregnant wife of a rabbi in Bombay in the name of Allah, and that’s just business as usual. And, if it is somehow “understandable” that for the first time in history it’s no longer safe for a Jew to live in India, then we are greasing the skids for a very slippery slope.

They want to make a big propaganda show of their executions- they must be denied that opportunity. If they must be executed I think the old KGB method would be best:

Send them for a series of marathon interrogations. Move them each, separately, from room to room repeatedly. Then, at a random time as they are moved to yet another room the executioner sneaks up behind them and shoots them in the back of the head with a pistol.

A man is riding through the desert on his camel and finds a sudden urge to have sex. Realising that there are no women around he turns to his camel. Just as he tries to position it, it turns around and bites him on the balls. He gives up and carrys on riding.

A few days later he gets the same feeling all over again, still there are no women around so again he is forced to rely on his camel. However, as he tries to position it, the camel bites him on the balls again. As before he gives up and carries on riding. A couple of days later, he reaches a small village only to find 3 gorgeous looking blondes in the back of a mini cooper. One of them gets out of the car and approaches him.

"Excuse me" she said "but could you fix our car, as we have just broken down, we'll offer you anything in return?"

Knowing alot about mechanics the man takes up the offer and agrees to fix their car. An hour later, the man had fixed the car and all three blondes walked up to him.

"Thank you very much, thats great!" said the first blonde.

"Well what do you want us to do?" said the second.

Given that much, if not all, of the evidence against KSM and the rest of this scum was obtained through: 1) sources that the military/CIA will not reveal due to opsec; 2) enhanced interrogation techniques; or 3) other tainted sources, is there any way that a US court will do anything other than turn them loose? And probably grant them residence in the US, as it would be inhumane to turn them over to foreign governments that might mistreat them?

Late to the thread...

I say kill 'em. String 'em up.

I don't buy the meme that their deaths will create martyrs and aid recruiting to the cause.

At worse, it will simple move some Muslims from the "silent supporter" category to the "active participant" group... and I'd rather let the enemy reveal himself than let him remain hidden among us.

The enemy is not only the active terrorists, it is all who believe in the ideology that claims "all belongs to Allah." I doubt that the deaths of these terrorists would cause a person to abandon the belief in freedom of religion -- a Muslim who truly believed that wouldn't be stirred to action by these deaths.

The only change would be to those who currently support the goals of jihad -- the rebirth of an aggressive caliphate -- to take a more active role in today's war.

Enrage the hidden jihad supporters and expose them. Reveal the extent of jihad ideology. Stop hiding behind a pc veil... the truth shall set us free.

I don’t believe in martyrs any more than I believe in the tooth fairy. The religion that these terrorists want to martyr themselves over isn’t worth it (any more than any other was or is); it’s just a religion and not a spiritual journey into anything that would do any good in this world for anybody. I say, let them live. Deny them their “martyrdom”. Instead, close Gitmo, throw them into the general population at Leavenworth, Attica, Soledad, or Folsom, et al. That may just give them a view of this great nation of the United States where we relegate those who would screw the rest of us decent folks over for their own gain.

My Pop, who suffers severe dementia, would tell you in a lucid moment, “nobody leaves this world alive”. So for these wanna-be martyrs, let them live their lives out. Forty years from now, when nobody in the future generations remember who they were or what they “martyred” themselves over have forgotten them, their natural passing will be unremarkable.

Thanks for listening to Grandma, and have a nice day

373 descolada9  Mon, Dec 8, 2008 1:17:37pm

Personally, I'm betting that no matter what happens to these guys they are still going to be hailed as martyrs, whether we execute them or not. Personally, the last thing I want to see happen is that they get into jail and start converting people to Islam, or we have to build a special prayer room for them.

The best would be to give them life sentences and then have an "accident" on the way to the prison.

374 BLBfootballs  Mon, Dec 8, 2008 1:20:34pm
Mohammed and another defendant have said they would welcome execution as a path to martyrdom...

Let's give it to 'em.

Let's give it to 'em.

Well, who can blame them! So, life in Leavenworth, without parole it is then: at hard labor, stuffing pork sausage links and cleaning out the MP dog kennels.

No plea bargain for you, assholes! Throw 'em in with the hardened domestic prison population!

OT: shaggy-dog-story:
Of course, the result is rigged - one test dog was a Border Collie!

. Dr Range says other animals need to be studied to really show how animals naturally exhibit jealousies or cooperate.

"I'm sure that it's not something that evolved with the dogs, we will have to test it in wolves and other cooperating species," she said.

Yeah. Dr. Range, test it on wolves and hyenas, but let the border collie watch through a two-way mirror. I want to see teh puppeh roll over and laff when you pull back a bloody stump from teasin' 'Shenzi and Bonzai'

Another reason I favor killing Khalid is that I used to live in Gitmo and I don't want him stanking up the place.

Throbert's old house in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

I attended kindergarten and first grade on Gitmo, circa '76-'78, and after all these years I have no trouble picking out my house from a satellite photo. It's easy to spot, actually -- because Gitmo has a limited amount of "family housing," we happened to be on a distinctive circular cul-de-sac, and our house had a large backyard overlooking the water, with several banyan trees that I used to climb! The banyans are obviously still there, though it appears that the sickly cluster of coconut palms has been removed -- they used to be at the far edge of the backyard, right before the retaining wall and the steep drop down to the sea.

You can see what appear to be small detached garages between some of the houses -- these were originally built as private lunchtime dining rooms and (if need be) emergency overnight sleeping quarters for Cuban maids, cooks, gardeners, etc., back in the days when large numbers of Cuban workers would commute daily on and off the base. Normally they weren't supposed to stay overnight on base, but if severe rain closed the roads, for example, they could stay in these quarters. By the '70s, however, these structures had long since been converted to storage sheds shared by neighborhood families.

I'm surprised to be saying this, but having had a look at Obama's transitional moves and appointments, I think he's telling the truth. He has ticked off a lot of people on the left, so far.

Fingers crossed.

"Triangulation" worked for Billy Jeff, supposedly, so why not "go with what worked". That could explain why so many former Clinton people are being signed up (including an actual Clinton).

re: #378 Throbert McGee

When my dad was "deployed" to Pearl Harbor in the 1960s, we didn't get to go with, damnit. (He was a crewman/instructor on a P2V and normally was based at Los Alamitos.)

383 irongrampa  Mon, Dec 8, 2008 2:19:27pm

So execute them, bury the corpses in an umarked pit and be done with it.

384 Tazzerman  Mon, Dec 8, 2008 2:22:20pm

Oh man, I've just GOT to add my two cents into this macabre post..

Definitely keep the bastard alive. By all means BUT, every time there's a bombing, anywhere in the world, make sure that he is flown there immediately to help pick up all the body pieces and parts. Every one of them. I want to see his face has he handles the torn and bloody limbs of some poor dead child or mother.

Afterward, he doesn't get to wash himself before he's put back into his crate.

Killing him is too good and way to quick.

385 Cheechako  Mon, Dec 8, 2008 2:34:46pm

Hang them. Use the body disposal method from the movie Fargo to create some pig slop. Then feed the pigs. Make a video of the process to show future prisoner's what's going to happen if they don't talk.

As long as we keep them alive there's always a chance that terrorists will try to capture a large number of Americans, i.e cruise ship or large building, etc., to hold as ransom to get them freed. With a large niumber of hostages the pressure will be imense to let them go.

That's too bad. Within my functional memory, all my dad's overseas assignments were accompanied, so I had to was lucky enough to spend eight out of thirteen school years abroad:

Gitmo (Kindergarten - 1st grade)
Ankara, Turkey (3rd - 5th)
Okinawa (6th - 8th).

In retrospect, the entire family agrees that the Turkey years were TEH KEWLEST, although it didn't always seem so when my sister and I were kids -- because Ankara, at the time, was sorely lacking in many American-style amenities, such as TV shows in English, and McDonalds.

It was a big treat for American kids in Ankara to visit Incirlik AFB, just because it had TV with American cartoons and sitcoms, along with an indoor wooden rollerskating rink and an actual Burger King and a Baskin-Robbins and so forth. And when I was in third grade, a girl in my class somehow or other contracted malaria, the lucky duck -- which meant she and her family got a free flight (on a comfy C-9!) to Wiesbaden, Germany, with more American-style everything than any place in Turkey, including Incirlik (which is, by the way, pronounced "in-JEER-lick," and roughly translates as "Figsville," from Turkish incir, "fig.")

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, is apparently planning to make a full confession in his Guantanamo tribunal in hopes of getting the death penalty.

GRANTED! Where's my pistol?!

Their useful idiots seem to think that these thugs are not guilty and just victims of torture. They express admiration for Omar Khadr.

Comments are closed but if we can get a bunch of Lizards to register ( takes 1 minute) to vote against these creeps I'd be ecstatic.

Thanks in advance.

Would it be cruel and unusual punishment if after execution the bodies were beheaded; both parts wrapped in pig and dog skins; then cremated and the the two separate piles of ash scattered - head over the Pentagon and body over the Twin Towers site?

There is some argument about whether this would stop them with the virgins. So let them worry about what awaits them on the other side. It would also serve as a warning to any potential Islamic terrorists relying on the Justice system to ensure their martyrdom.

391 deegee  Tue, Dec 9, 2008 12:35:31pm

Oops. That should be three parts. The equipment for enjoying the virgins would be the third. Just flush that down a Gitmo toilet.

No, it wouldn't
