Compo and Sardeshmukh: Oceans a main driver of climate variability - it’s the heat AND the humidity.
Evidence is presented that the recent worldwide land warming has occurred largely in response to a worldwide warming of the oceans rather than as a direct response to increasing greenhouse gases (GHGs) over land. Atmospheric model simulations of the last half-century with prescribed observed ocean temperature changes, but without prescribed GHG changes, account for most of the land warming. The oceanic influence has occurred through hydrodynamic-radiative teleconnections, primarily by moistening and warming the air over land and increasing the downward longwave radiation at the surface. The oceans may themselves have warmed from a combination of natural and anthropogenic influences.

Koskidz scammed by berries...
BEWARE: Scam perpetrated on lefty blogs
On December 6, someone posted a diary titled, "Today, I found out we have nothing." It was a long sob story that elicited the usual sympathy and offers of help from kind-hearted Kossacks.
Someone in the comments smelled a scam and checked it out. That someone was correct.
But here's the deal: the company that the scam artist diarist was traced back to had a product being advertised on many of the lefty blogs including TalkingPointsMemo, fivethirtyeight, Atrios and the Huffington Post as a weight loss wonder drug. And it was much worse than just trading on the sympathy of generous individuals.
...
I may have made a leap, based on other comments, that linked Popvent to the acai berry scam. If so, I apologize. However, based on the googling skills of smarter Kossacks than me, Popvent appears to be a bit shady. And the acai berry scam is real.

Who's on first?
"Who's on First? is a comedy routine made famous by Abbott and Costello. The premise of the routine is that Abbott is identifying the players on a baseball team to Costello, but their names and nicknames can be interpreted as non-responsive answers to Costello's questions. In this context, the first baseman is named "Who"; thus, the utterance "Who's on first" is ambiguous between the question ("which person is the first baseman?") and the answer ("Who is the name of the first baseman.")."
It was more fun before Wiki explained it.

And, why are the oceans heating up? Could it be Al Gore's bigass heater constantly kicking on in his Mansion is causing El Nino, Le Nina and El Guapo? Or, could it have something to do with the big fireball in the sky we see rising in the east and setting in the west each day? Either way, we should tax the crap out of the USA for causing the sun to be so bright!

An F-18 fighter jet pilot ejected from his plane moments before it crashed into a San Diego neighborhood Monday, sparking at least one house fire. The jet crashed shortly before noon as it prepared to land at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. The crash occurred two miles from the base, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.

Actually fairly well since they probably won't need any of the bailout money if the economy comes back in a couple of years. The Focus gets better mileage than the Camery in either gasoline or hybrid. The are going for one car model one platform worldwide like Honda does with the Civic. They started the restructure before the economy put GM and Chrysler's back against the wall. The new F-150 is a hell of a nice truck too.

I was "assigned" a Pinto as a missionary many years ago. We drove out to Canoncito Navajo reservation. It was 110 degrees. As I was getting out of the car my partner said to roll up the window (I was a greenie). I didn't because it was so hot. We went into the hogan for an hour or so, came back out and there were 2 goats in the car and lots of "pebbles". He said: "I told you to roll up your window!" I said: "You didn't say why!"
The Pinto stunk forever. They all do.

MPACUK lets the mask slip...
Understanding The Philosophy Of Muslim Violence
We know it will get us in trouble with the media; make us targets for the government elites who want to hide this from you. We are prepared to pay the price. Most Muslim groups in the UK are still silent, or worse apologising, so they can get the 'moderate' medal of dishonour from their masters. We prefer the truth - no matter what they call us.
...We will no longer be part of the deliberate attempt to keep the public confused on the issue of terrorism. We will not be part of the apologetic Muslim leaders who blame their own community for terrorism. We will not condemn, nor allow ourselves to be condemned by governing elites who are more interested in a political stunt than saving lives. No more politics and propaganda when it comes terrorism - its the truth and nothing else.
That said, if you want to know why Muslims - or any human being - turns to violent ends, then watch this:

Once upon a time; to be conservative was the unspoken comportment of the day in popular American society. Nowadays, we find ourselves on the outside looking in. At one time, the hippie-liberals were the ones flinging poo (or worse) upon the walls of the Dean's or some ROTC office.
The liberals, their media, and the government are now The Establishment. Their Establishement is that of pro-goverment ignorance of the constitutional form of government. Gone are their ideals of; "leave me alone man!" The former hippies who now have all the power are coming after the rest of us with: "you can't be trusted with liberty".
Now conservative types are on the outside, with a simple premise: Constitutionally limited government. We have the radical "old" idea of freedom, liberty and self-sustinance. We are on the outside, not really so much wanting to "go-in" (except for maybe Bill Kristol). As wanting the liberals-leftists to come outside and observe how their house looks from the street.

I received an email from a friend and co-worker who is stationed at one of the smaller outlying FOB's (Forward Operating Base)in the North about something that happened out there that is, in my opinion, newsworthy. Some local Iraqi's shot a boar in town. Now normally when a boar is shot the carcass is just discarded as rubbish due to religious belief about pork products. Sometimes these carcasses end up the hiding spot for IED's. Neither of these things happened this time. Instead, the Iraqi's gave the boar to the soldiers at this FOB for them to roast. This is a huge gesture in part by the Iraq's to the US Military. The Iraq's did not have to do this at all, but wanted to as they heard that our troops at this outlying FOB do not have the greatest of food available to them. They do not have a contracted chow hall like the bigger bases in Iraq do, so they don't have nearly the selection or the preparation facilities that you see at the larger basses (baked beans are a staple out there from what I am told). Another thing that this story shows is the spirit of giving. The local Iraqi's had no reason to give this boar to these soldiers, but saw that they could use it and gave it to them as a kind gesture and to say thank you for staying and giving them (the Iraq's) a chance for a future.
Now if that is not an inspiring Christmas Story I don't know what is.
TrueSoldier has an LGF nic, but I don't recall what it is he might not have posted since his deployment.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but the rainbow has nothing to do with the covenant of circucision. It is to indicate that G-d will not again destroy the earth by flood; as the spiritual says, "God gave Noah the rainbow sign; won't be the water, be the fire next time."
Circumcision is its own sign.

The reason that the switch is happening is not because of any desire for the gub'mint for the masses to have clearer reception or anything...the FCC is taking the frequency spectrum that currently is your analog TV audio and video and they will auction portions of this frequency spectrum to cell phone companies for voice and data transmission. The gub'mint will make several billion dollars from this.

Interviewer:
The notion of a "guitar solo" has preconceptions based on it; people automatically refute it because it's supposed to be self-indulgent or "for musicians." It's almost like things become iconographic and somehow lose their value for outsiders.
