Carter Looking for More Thugs to Hug

Apparently not satisfied with meeting only with Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, America’s most disgraceful former president Jimmy Carter is now looking for an opportunity to hug the murderous thugs of Hezbollah: Carter, in Lebanon, says ready to meet with Hezbollah officials.

Carter made the comments upon arrival in Lebanon where he will assess whether his Atlanta-based Carter Center would take part in monitoring next year’s parliamentary elections.

Asked whether he would meet with Hezbollah officials during his five-day visit, Carter told reporters that it was up to the militant group, which the U.S. considers a terrorist organization.

“I am going to meet with all of the political parties as possible,” Carter said. “I understand that several leaders of Hezbollah said they were not going to meet with any president or former president of the United States, so I don’t know yet.”

A Hezbollah official told The Associated Press the group had no immediate comment on Carter’s remarks but said it might issue a statement, most likely on Wednesday.

I actually dreamed that CBBHO appointed Carter to be his special envoy to the Middle East.

22 lawhawk  Tue, Dec 9, 2008 12:44:19pm

Has there been a time in the past 20 years where Carter didn't seek out thugs to hug? I can't recall any.

I guess we've got to ask the same questions that were asked back when he visited Hamas. Is he operating at the behest of anyone in the incoming Obama administration, passing on messages and the like, engaging in diplomacy, etc., beyond merely "talking".

Besides, what exactly is he hoping to hear from Hizbullah? They aren't abiding by UN SCR 1701 and disarming, so what can he possibly hope to hear. Hizbullah seeks Israel's destruction, and has coopted the Lebanese government. They are the proxy army for Iran.

How's that for symmetry. Carter refused to protect US interests by taking on the Iranian regime for their invasion of sovereign US territory - the US embassy in 1979, and now he's openly hoping to talk with Iran's proxy terror army Hizbullah.

And watch for Carter to throw Israel under the bus at every opportunity, claiming that everything would be okay if Israel just rolled over and made concession after concession in the name of peace.

23 jorline  Tue, Dec 9, 2008 12:44:39pm

I will always hold respect for the President and all former Presidents, but Carter does not live up to that due respect.

Give him an acre of land and a bag of seeds to sow...have a nice life Jimmy.

Hezbollah already told Jimmy he can't come over and play. They don't want to meet him.

This of course is a negotiating strategy designed to extract maximum grovelling from Carter. To borrow from Churchill, "We already know what he is, were just negotiating the price."

"I understand that some of the leaders of Hezbollah have said they were not going to meet with any president or former presidents of the United States," Carter said upon his arrival at Beirut airport, adding that he would meet other leaders.

A Carter spokesman confirmed a meeting had been requested with Hezbollah, whose guerrilla army fought a 34-day war with U.S. ally Israel in 2006. "They said they were not able to meet," Carter spokesman Rick Jafculca said.

Blame the Joos.

Carter's four years are still having repercussions in all of our wallets (community reinvestment acts, "free" housing for humanity) causing global disasters and death world wide.

If any surviving Zimbabweans who are old enough to remember 1979 could turn back the clock, they wouldn't have voted for Carter's preferred Marxist candidate Mugabe, who has turned their once rich, breadbasket country into a gulag basket case.

I remember several years ago when an LGF operative attended a CAIR dinner for Khatami and wrote about it. Get this:

The next question: You will be meeting w/President Carter during your visit. How do you think you and Carter can work towards peace between the West and the Middle East?

Answer: President Carter’s invitation reached me too late. My schedule was already in place and could not be changed, so I will not be meeting with him. But President Carter does many good works helping to relieve poverty, blah blah blah.

Now Khatami may not be a much of a thug compared to the other mullahs, but he ain't no good guy. So the answer to your original question is NO

re: #22 lawhawk

I really think that Carter believes that his escapades and adventures in other countries are more a Christian outreach than a political one.

Otherwise, short of being mentally ill, there would be no other explanation for his continuing to put out his hand to some of the most evil men and governments in the world.

He basically doesn't represent any government, any agency or any NGO. He is a member of those "Elders," which is a new little "club," but other than that, he is a lone player.

Nope, I think he has been motivated by a very liberal Christian mindset, and he will never stop.

There's more! The little "!" is a report button. You can use it to report nasty, trollish comments. Or you can use it to report a comment you'd like to recommend for Charles' reading enjoyment.

And the "heart" can be used to save something to your own personal faves, which you can "tag" with your own personal categories to find things easier.

We are indeed so very very spoiled here.

Someone, somewhere the other day predicted that Bush 43 would do as Carter and Clinton did in an attempt to 'salvage' his reputation.

I'll bet that he doesn't. I'll bet that W is comfortable in his own skin, doesn't feel any need to defend his record, and simply goes back to Texas and lives his life with his loving wife.

Which will drive the Bushitler crowd absolutely nuttier.

Screw 'em. I'd rather that he handled a whole lot of things differently, but I'll always honor him for protecting our country. Unlike Carter, or Clinton.

I sure hope that I don't have to add Teh Obama to that list.

Great idea. Meet with a group declared to be a terrorist organization by the USA, Israel, Canada, England, Australia, and even the Netherlands.

In June 2006, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State David Satterfield disclosed that Hizbullah cadres had attacked U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq. Hizbullah units claimed responsibility for operations against coalition forces and Iraqi security personnel as early as the latter part of 2005.

In June 2006, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State David Satterfield disclosed that Hizbullah cadres had attacked U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq.

In his testimony before the Armed Services Committees of the Congress on April 8, 2008, General David Petraeus, the commander of the multinational forces in Iraq, reported that the Iranian Qods Force, with the assistance of Lebanese Hizbullah’s Department 2800, was training, arming and guiding the “Special Groups” in Iraq.

Maybe Hizbullah will reject him like Mugabe of Zimbabwe did last month.

It is all a ruse, Carter is in fact a high ranking spy for the United States. A former Naval officer, his time as President was only for cover.

The plan is to get close to Nasrallah in order to spill some of his cologne on him. The Cologne is really a tracking beacon for Israeli missiles. The special ones like was used on the Ambulance in Lebanon (you probably forgot about that incredible technology).

If you check very carefully, you will see that every thug and dictator that Carter has visited has had something bad happen to them, at some point after his visit. It is not always right away, it can sometimes take years, but always some kind of bad experience.

Carter, James Carter...

Good point. And that still supports my contention that his motivation is not political, but a personal religious calling.

I think we miss that when we examine Carter and his escapades. I'm not saying this is a good trait he has, but I think it can explain a lot of things that never seem to make sense.

And yes, if his desire to spread his moral beliefs has turned into a religious obsession, then it is a mental illness.

I confess that I kill feral cats. Studies show that cats kill on average 3 small animals per day. I'd rather have the animals than a bunch of feral cats running around the property.

That said, when the weather got cold I was complaining about a stray that has taken up living under the back deck. Mouthing off about how 'it wasn't even my cat'. Wife pointed out that I'd been feeding it for over a year, and if it wasn't my cat then whose cat was it?

So I went and bought a heating pad and built the poor thing a place to stay in a 5 gallon bucket so it don't get wet and cold.

I know, I'm going soft.

So be it.

My sympathy for your loss. I have noticed that dogs will protect cats in their home, they are part of the pack, even while chasing cats out of the home. Similarly cats tolerate dogs in their home since they are part of the furniture.

I'm sure that's part of it.

The press (deservidly) pilloried the Republicans when they lost their way between 2000-2006.

Somewhere, there is a go-getter politician who is connecting the dots to expose the corruption on the Democratic side of the aisle. IMO, there is a treasure trove to be exposed in BHO's Billion dollar fund raising apparatus, but it will take risk to go after it. Remember, Newt Gingrich made his name by exposing funny pay-offs to then Speaker of the House Jim Wright.

Not according to David Axelrod:

While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a "kingmaker," Axelrod said, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

Catch and release traps? Why would I release feral cats on my neighbor's property? I'm sure you're not proposing that I pay $60 bucks to the pound so they can hold them for two weeks and then kill them.

Deer scent? Have you any idea how expensive that's going to be to cover 34 acres?

Your right, of course. Shooting them humanely is the only solution. Otherwise they just become someone Else's problem. They can't be tamed, so will have to be destroyed anyway. Just shoot and keep it quiet. Feral cats kill large amounts of game birds, rabbits, squirrels, whatever they can catch and kill, even if they don't intend to eat it. Thats just the way it is.

Others on the potential "Hug a Thug" list would include boxing tonsils with Hugo Chavez, meeting with Raoul Castro in public, sipping coca tea with Evo Morales and giving a humanitarian award to Hosni Mubarak.

It would be nice if Bush would revoke Carter's passport during his last days in office.

Another great article on this subject from Christopher Hitchens:

"Inconvenient Truths"
[Link: www.slate.com...]
The media's disingenuous failure to state the obvious.
Christopher Hitchens Dec 08, 2008

"...Here are the known facts: If you are a Lebanese politician or journalist or public figure, and you criticize the role played by the government of Syria in your country's internal affairs, your car will explode when you turn the ignition key, or you will be ambushed and shot or blown up by a bomb or land mine as you drive through the streets of Beirut or along the roads that lead to the mountains. The explosives and weapons used, and the skilled tactics employed, will often be reminiscent of the sort of resources available only to the secret police and army of a state machine. But I think in fairness I must stress that this is all that is known for sure. You criticize the Assad dictatorship, and either your vehicle detonates or your head is blown off. Over time, this has happened to a large and varied number of people, ranging from Sunni statesman Rafik Hariri to Druze leader Kamal Jumblatt to Communist spokesman George Hawi. One would not wish to be a "conspiracy theorist" and allege that there was any necessary connection between the criticisms in the first place and the deplorably terminal experiences in the second..."
