It ain't Friday but WTH.
A woman was very distraught at the fact that she had not had a date or any sex in quite some time. She was afraid she might have something wrong with her, so she decided to seek the medical expertise of a sex therapist.
Her doctor recommended that she see the well known Chinese sex therapist Dr. Chang.
So she went to see him. Upon entering the examination room Dr. Chang said, 'OK take off all your crose. The woman did as she was told. 'Now get down and craw reery, reery fass to odderside of room.'
Again the woman did as she was instructed. Dr. Chang then said, 'OK, now craw reery, reery fass back to me.' So she did.
Dr.Chang shook his head slowly and said, 'Your probrem vewy bad. You haf Ed Zachary disease.
Worse case I ever see. Dat why you not haf sex or dates..' Worried the woman asked anxiously 'Oh my God, Dr.Chang, what is Ed Zachary Disease ?'
Dr. Chang sighed deeply and replied, 'Ed Zachary Disease is when your face look Ed Zachary like your ass.'

My wife's dog thinks cats (and small dogs) are chew toys. But I have to give credit to the cat. We have had a very rainy year and we live very close to a river and that means rats. That cat will go out and kill the river rats that come near here. Problem is he leaves them on the back deck.

I finally found out how to definitively explain the Bail Out:
Once upon a time a man appeared in a village and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each.
The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at $10 and, as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He next announced that he would now buy monkeys at $20 each. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.
Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so scarce it was an effort to even find a monkey, let alone catch it!
The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50 each! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would buy on his behalf. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers: "Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has already collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each."
The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys for 700 billion dollars.
They never saw the man or his assistant again, only lots and lots of monkeys!
Now you have a better understanding of how the
WALL STREET BAILOUT PLAN
WILL WORK !
It doesn't get much clearer than this...

Iraq will need a US troop presence to help build up its military forces past the newly agreed three-year deadline for the withdrawal of American soldiers, a senior Iraqi official said on Thursday.
Ali al-Dabbagh, spokesman for the government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, said some U.S. forces could be needed for 10 years but told reporters that the terms of any extended presence would be negotiated between the next Iraqi and US governments. (Reuters)

I truthfully don't mind the presents. The problem is he brings them in during the dead of night and they attract all sorts of wildlife. Skunks, Raccoons, Fisher Cats, Coyotes, etc. And that drives the dog mad. He is an Akita and when he hears something on or near the back deck he goes crazy. He has got skunk killing down to an art. The last few he killed he has not even got sprayed. He sort of does the Ninja thing on them, rips them to bits and leaves the carcass. BUT, I have to clean the stinky mess up.

An Afghani refugee is here in the US and doesn't feel well so he goes to see the doctor.
The first doctor finds nothing wrong but the condition persists and the Afghani goes to another doctor. Same result.
Finally in desperation he goes to see an old Jewish doctor.
The doctor immmediately recognizes the problem and instructs the man to do the following:
1) Go home and defecate and urinate in a bucket.
2) Sit over the bucket with a towel draped over the head
3) Inhale deeply.
4) Come back and see me in 2 days.
The man goes home, follows the remedy and amazingly feels better.
He returns to the doctor and gratefully asks him what the problem was.
The doctor replies "You were homesick"

I truthfully don't mind the presents. The problem is he brings them in during the dead of night and they attract all sorts of wildlife. Skunks, Raccoons, Fisher Cats, Coyotes, etc. And that drives the dog mad. He is an Akita and when he hears something on or near the back deck he goes crazy. He has got skunk killing down to an art. The last few he killed he has not even got sprayed. He sort of does the Ninja thing on them, rips them to bits and leaves the carcass. BUT, I have to clean the stinky mess up.
I hated those presents. Loved the cat, but hated the dead birds. My pooches chase squirrels, but have never caught one, except for one time, my cattledog, who had been chasing them futilely for years, stumbled across a recently dead one a couple of years ago. She came out of the woods with a dead squirrel, stiff as a board in her mouth. She was SOOO proud to have finally caught one...It was disgusting.

Not sure how it was unifying for the Party for Powell to endorse Obama over the Party's candidate. Or is he referring to the Democrat Party?
It would sure be nice to see some small-town values in places like Chicago, where big-city values seem to be pretty anti-citizen and pro-corrupt politician.

Powell's full of it.
Gov. Palin, to some extent, pushed the party more to the right, and I think she had something of a polarizing effect when she talked about how small town values are good. Well, most of us don’t live in small towns. And I was raised in the South Bronx, and there’s nothing wrong with my value system from the South Bronx.
The GOP needs pushing to right, the classically liberal right. Powell's is snarking on Palin being a hick. Small town values? Responsibility? Self sufficency? Liberty? Limited Government?
Powell endorsed a damn Marxist for pete's sake. Powell wouldn't know small town conservative values if they bit him on the ass.

zombie Thu, Dec 11, 2008 4:25:04pm |
I saw a disturbing yet sociologically interesting bit of moonbat behavior last night.
I was at a holiday office party at a company that is VERY left-leaning in its general demeanor. Safe to say that everyone there was a moonbat.
It was one of those "bring the whole family" office parties, so several people had brought husbands, wives, children, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc.
As happens in many modern offices, everyone was supposed to bring an inexpensive gift for one of those "Secret Santa" gift exchanges that are essentially kept anonymous, to avoid people playing favorites and engendering any inter-office resentments.
But this one had a twist. After everybody had opened their (randomly chosen) novelty gifts, sitting around a looong conference table, a pair of dice was passed around from person to person. If you rolled a double (two fours, two threes, etc.) you had the option of: trading gifts with anyone of your choosing; taking someone else's gift; giving any your gift; or forcing someone to give their gift to someone else. I murmured to the manager in charge of this game, "Doesn't this have the possibility of arousing bad feelings or resentments?" No way, he said, we do it every year; it's loads of fun!
So the game went around the table, rapid fire.
Here's the incident that fascinated/horrified me:
A four-year-boy was one of the people at the table, and by good fortune he had opened one of the few "kid-friendly" novelty gifts, a bendable "action figure" toy. He was very happy with it. Directly across the table from him was a 8-year-old boy who had also gotten a fairly decent gift (a card game), but had expressed dissatisfaction with it.
Well, after the dice had gone around the table once or twice, the 8-year-old rolled a double, and immediately reached across and grabbed the 4-year-old's action figure, which he coveted. The 8-year-old jumped up and down with excitement, and the 4-year-old was crushed, but did not cry. The four-year-old's mother, however, sitting right next to him, was aghast that someone would take her son's toy, even if the rules of the game allowed it. She glared across at the 8-year-old and his mother, who was sitting right next to him. When the dice came around to the 4-year-old's mom, she rolled a double as well, and reached across the table and yanked back the action figure and gave it to her son. The 8-year-old turned red as a beet and turned to his mother, saying, "Mom! She took my toy!" The 8-year-old's mom said "Well, maybe we'll get it back."
Keep in mind that was just a small vignette in a room filled with 60 other people shouting and laughing and trading presents back and forth. Only a few people (such as myself) were noticing what was going on with the two families.
Well, you can imagine what happened over the next ten minutes. Both boys and both mothers got in a furious competition to see who could roll doubles and thereby snatch the toy back. I was appalled at the mother of the 8-year-old for not admonishing him for being so greedy and taking something from a 4-year-old.
Back and forth the toy went several times, the anger and the insensity rising each time. The 8-year-old even took to cheating, rolling the dice 2 or 3 times in quick succession during his turn, if he thought no one was looking, in his attempt to roll a double.
With 30 seconds to go, the 8-year-old had the toy and was grinning. The game had riisen to a frenzy pitch all around the table. On the very last roll of the dice, the 4-year-old's mother rolled a pair of sixes, leapt up, grabbed the toy, and instead of giving it finally back to her son, flung it across the room where it landed in the lap of some random other participant in the game, who looked up mystified, "Keep it! Don't give it away!" ordered the four-year-old's mother.
The 8-year-old then literally burst into tears and started sobbing and punching his mother's leg in frustration. They left the room hurriedly. The 4-year-old's mom, hot-faced gathered her son, and fled.

Only the adults played. The kids had pre-assigned other cousins to bring a small ($5) toy for. One year my son had his same-age cousin, who had him. They unwrapped their gifts. They were the same small plastic Bob-The-Builder truck; both boys were happy.
Anyway, the game died. Don't remember why.

What harm is it for an small child to "beleive" in Santa? I cherish the memories of the look in my sons eyes at this time of year when he "beleived" He's 14 now, and he's very well adjusted, has great interpersonal and social skills, a tremendous imagination, and he really enjoys seeing young kids that beleive, even to the point where he volunteers to be a Santas Helper at our churches "Breakfast With Santa"

Good heavens.
I am reminded of my Navajo cousins, when they were little boys. We'd gone to the circus, and they all had balloons. Keep in mind that these kids were not rich and did not have a ton of worldly goods.
One of the boys lost his balloon, which floated into the air. He started to cry, and one of his brothers immediately offered his own ballon and said he would share, which brought smiles to both faces.
I went downstairs and found an old toy in good shape - a lion troll (cute). I took it up and gave it to the boy to replace the balloon. He smiled - his mom (my first cousin) said it was too expensive, and I said nonsense - I'm happy to share it with him. His brothers all smiled, happy he had a toy.
Compare and contrast.

What he is really saying is that Whitey Need Not Apply.
In the early '80s I applied 3 consecutive years to the Seattle Fire Dept. Each year they hired a class of 30. Each year they had over 6000 applicants for those positions.
Each year I place in the teens, but being white male I needed a top ten finish. meanwhile they would go into the high 300's to make the quotas.
Since then I check "other" and write "American."

I have tried to let people know that if my child misbehaves I need to know now, because I only have until they are bigger than me to instill the basics of decency. You would be suprised how many people are surprised and relieved when I thank them for letting me know and have him apologize/make retribution.

One action figure of questionable ownership, an indulged older child, and a younger child, and two mothers = a recipe for disaster.
If I had been the mother of the 8 year old I would have insisted that the younger child be allowed to keep the toy.
If I had been the mother of the younger boy, I would have insisted that the older boy keep the toy - and then left immediately with my child. It's too much to ask a 4 year old to understand why a toy was taken away from him - if the other person isn't willing to share the toy.
Not a good game for children - and it does not teach them the christmas spirit.

A while back, when I worked at the downtown office, I was walking around the Inner Harbor at lunch one Christmas season. It was very Christmassy - cold, snow, etc., and Santa's House (gorgeous) was set up. I looked in the window and saw Santa - and it was that magical Santa I remember from my childhood. It WAS Santa. re: #215 JCM
No, Virginia, There is No Santa Claus
Virginia, your little friends are right. They have not succumbed to the mysticism of a mystical age. They refuse to believe anything which contradicts what they know, and they know that reindeer can't fly and that one man could not deliver toys to all the world's children in a lifetime, let alone one night.
When your friends think like this, it demonstrates that the human mind is grand, and that in this great universe of ours man is a giant, a genius. Only man, of all life we know, can conceptually grasp the magnificent world about him, the whole of truth and knowledge.
No, Virginia, there is no Santa Claus. Santa is a make-believe character, created for children like you in a spirit of love, generosity and devotion. He is a product of the uniquely human power of reason.
One of the ways we use this power is to have fun rearranging the things we know into things that cannot be. But the true beauty of this power is that it alone, and not faith, is the light which fills the world with toys, candy, books, houses, clothes, schools, medicine, love and all of the values that make life joyous and fulfilling. So if you renounce reason in favor of faith, you renounce all these wonderful things.
Believe in Santa Claus? You might as well believe in fairies! To do either you must give up reason, and with it your ability to distinguish what is real from what isn't.
This ability is your most important asset; your life and happiness depend on it. When you understand this you will know why you should shun anyone who tells you that the less evidence there is for something, the "more true" it is.
Sometimes confused people say that there might be fairies dancing on your lawn because you can't prove that fairies aren't there. What these people don't understand is that it's up to them to prove that fairies might be there, yet this is what they can never do. Proof requires evidence and there can be no evidence for the existence of the non-existent. This principle applies not only to claims that fairies might exist, but to any arbitrary claim, including the one that there is an unknowable, supernatural world.
You know you must look inside your baby's rattle to see what makes its noise; faith, hunch or "intuition" will not provide the answer. This same reliance on "sense and sight" will equip you better for life than the united physical strength of all the strongest men that ever lived.
Hold to this reliance through all your days. If you do you will be able to push aside the curtain of ignorance and enjoy the poetry, love, romance, music, science and all the other glories of this world. There is no other world, Virginia, nothing else real and abiding.
A real Santa Claus? Of course not! He lives in imagination only, and for as long as he does he can make glad the heart of childhood. For a thousand, nay, 10 times 10,000 years from now, he may survive as a wonderful fantasy, unless man, using his faculty of reason, conceives of a better one.

re: #187 zombie
It is always the parents, young children know only what they are taught and mimic behavior they see daily. I had a job, a limo job several years ago, where I went to pick up a family at a skating rink. I was to take them to the beach, then home. In a stretch limo. They own several companies, which everyone would know if I named them. When I picked them up, mom and several children, I realized that their trip to the rink was because the 8yo daughter was training to try and make future olympics. They were from NY and the kid wanted to train w/ Nancy Kerrigans coach, who lives here on the Cape. By the time we pulled out of the parking lot, I was horrified down to my toes. I heard the mom start ragging on and gossiping viciously about the other skaters to her daughter and her other children, and their friends. There were about 5-6 kids. I took them to the beach, and waited. About an hour later, one of this woman's sons, about 10, came back to the limo, and went to open the back door. He was covered in sand. I told him ""hang on, don't open that door, lets get the sand off of you first" He looked me in the eye, and said, I don't have to if I don't want to. Well, I'm not his mom, as he soon found out. I looked right back at him and said "son, this is MY car not yours, and if you do not wish to run home behind it, you WILL brush off the sand, 'cause you are not getting in otherwise". He looked at me, and started brushing off the sand. Did not utter another word. When we got back to the house in Osterville, (Very exclusive, 3 mil house) The kids took off running to the back yard. Mom went into the kitchen, where the maid and the 8yo's bodyguard were. The kids threw the cover off of the jacuzzi attached to the pool,, and the 8yo girl started ordering everyone in the jacuzzi. I went into the kitchen, and told the mom the kids were getting into the pool without supervision, to which she replied to me, and I shit you not, "It is OK, it's her house". I about fell over. I was then sent with the bodyguard to get chinese food. He was a cool dude. I asked him about the house, and the way the kids talked to their mother, not to mention the way she let them behave. He was also horrified, and said they were very difficult to work for, because he so disapproved of the way the family unit operated, the inmates were in charge of the asylum. I asked about the house, and it did indeed belong to the child, it was purchased when she refused to train anywhere but here, so that she did not have to live in a Boston hotel and commute to the Cape. That was 10 years ago. I shudder to think about how those kids have turned out.

My niece had bought this special gift and she said, "I want to be sure that Unca razorbacker gets this one, it suits him so well."

Who would help grown men peel the focus from the baby Jesus on his birthday? Who could it be, I just don't know. Could it be.. Satan!
Now you sound like Fred Phelps...
/// ;-P
Freddie's take on Christmas...
"Santa Claus Will Take You to Hell""You'd better watch out, get ready to cry,
You'd better go hide, I'm telling you why
'cuz Santa Claus will take you to hell."He is your favorite idol, you worship at his feet,
but when you stand before your God
He won't help you take the heat."So get this fact straight: you're feeling God's hate,
Santa's to blame for the economy's fate,
Santa Claus will take you to hell."Don't leave your kids with this red fright
Just like the priests he'll rape 'em at night
Oh Santa Clause will take you to hell."You tell the children he is real,
You know that's just a lie,
To justify your own vile sins
That's the only reason why."So get this fact straight, you're feelin' God's hate
Santa's to blame for the dead soldier's fate
Santa Claus will take you to hell."

re: #248 razorbacker
For years we played a game at my in-laws home at Christmas where each adult bought a gift (under $10) and we'd sit around the room and open them in decending age order. You open your gift, then the next person could swap your gift for their unopened gift.
My niece had bought this special gift and she said, "I want to be sure that Unca razorbacker gets this one, it suits him so well."
When I opened the gift it was a pair of bright yellow lounging pants with little pictures of the Oscar Meyer wienermobile on them.
Every blessed adult in that room swapped in their turn for those pants.
There is a gift like that at all these events. One year, Mrs. Hawk and I brought a Viking themed Nutcracker as the gift and that thing went through everybody's hands.

Terrible. They shouldn't have adults playing that game much less kids. On a related note I was wondering earlier about the whole Santa thing. Is it really worth telling kids that Santa is real? Couldn't people just tell kids that it's a fun pretend story from the beginning?
Why do you have to be a killjoy? My husband is a rabbi. He has a big fluffy white beard and is somewhat, er, rotund. He gets a big kick when little kids see him at Walmart or CVS and point and giggle, and he says, "You better be good!" and they giggle and hide behind their mommas.

BOOO!
But the idea that you have 8+1 magical flying reindeer and a sleigh that somehow holds enough toys for the entire world is intriguing.
Maybe Santa actually runs a Berlin Airlift-style operation from the North Pole, dropping precision strike gifts down chimneys which then detect and land other Christmas trees!
Hmm, I'm guessing you'll probably enjoy this. :-)

Exactly. Although the mother's didn't set a good example, children should not have been included in that game. They should have just given them each a gift and let the drunk adults fight over the chia pets.

Good article. One of the keys to pre-emption is good intelligence. My fear is that governmentally, particularly after January 20th we will be even more vulnerable. I saw a Democratic congresswoman on some security committee talking about interrogation and her ideas were truly scary. She was making the case for following the Army's manual on interrogation - which of course is geared towards dealing with legitimate prisoners of war. The gist is that they should not even be made uncomfortable. In the case of captured soldiers I agree. In the case of potential terrorists - what are you kidding me? Ideas like this woman has are dangerous to all of us. She is writing checks that we will have to cash in blood, just so she can look in the mirror and feel all good about herself. People like this should be given nothing more dangerous than nerf toys to play with and sent off to a corner of the room. Leave the big issues to the adults...

Freedom riders were early 1960's civil rights protesters in the South. A number of years ago I was working for an FBI contractor transferring old fingerprints (from 1950's-1980's booking files) to digital databases - the AFIS Program. Quite a number of cards from Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Birmingham listed the charge as "freedom rider". I suppose that was against a local ordinance. We've come a ways since than.

And a good example is what happened to the Dalton Gang at Coffeyville, Kansas. From Wiki:
The gang could have kept themselves busy with train robberies, but Bob Dalton wanted to make sure his name would long be remembered. He would, he claimed, "beat anything Jesse James ever did—rob two banks at once, in broad daylight." On October 5, 1892, the Dalton gang attempted this feat when they set out to rob the C.M. Condon & Company's Bank and the First National Bank in Coffeyville, Kansas. Since the locals were aware of what they looked like, they wore fake beards. But they were still identified by one of the townspeople.
While the gang was busy trying to hold up the banks, the people armed themselves and prepared for a gun battle. When the gang exited the banks, a shootout began. There were three townspeople shot, and Town Marshal Charles Connelly was killed when he ran into the street after hearing gunfire, returning fire before he died killing one member of the gang. Grat Dalton, Bob Dalton, Dick Broadwell and Bill Powers were killed. Emmett Dalton received 23 gunshot wounds and survived. He was given a life sentence in the Kansas penitentiary in Lansing, Kansas, of which he served 14 years before being pardoned. He moved to California and became a real estate agent, author and actor, and died in 1937 at age 66. Bill Doolin, "Bitter Creek" Newcomb, and Charlie Pierce were the only members left of the Dalton Gang, although none was present at the Coffeyville shootout. Speculation later suggested that there had been a sixth man holding horses in an alleyway and that he had escaped, and that man was believed to have been Bill Doolin. However, that has never been confirmed.

Heard a good interview on Dennis Miller a week or two back - with the author of a book (can't remember either name or title - big help I am) the gist of which was studying and debunking the myth of the Wild West and it's violence. Author cited homicide studies from the 1870's and 80's comparing frontier towns and Eastern towns and the homicide rate was much lower out west. Our image of the west is totally framed by Hollywood and it passes my common sense test that armed people out west were probably fairly polite to each other.

Patriot Guard Riders, of which I am one. A whole lot of veterans, on Harleys has a calming affect on assholes. We also screen the family from seeing Phelps and his things. I won't call the people.
Who were the guys who came into DC for the 4th of July? Rolling Thunder, or something? Anyway, they all went right past my house - for like two hours! It was AWESOME. People had cars pulled over on the sides of the roads, and were out on the shoulder filming the procession. Naturally, it was barely a blip in the local or national media. (I at least expected a snarky "Uneducated Redneck 'Patriots' Spew Carbon Emissions While Contributing to D.C. Smog Problems" column from the Washington Post).

Our image of the west is totally framed by Hollywood and it passes my common sense test that armed people out west were probably fairly polite to each other.
could be...read up about Las Vegas, New Mexico in the 1880s in terms of sheer gun violence...they learned as time went by...most violent crime out here is between Hispanic gang bangers...it is very backward in some regard because people are armed and thus...cautious...I love it here

WA is very good on self defense.
Recent case...
Prosecutor will not file charges. The guy hears people breaking into cars at his apartment. He goes out on his balcony with a rifle, one of the perps reaches into his waist band, guy shoots and kills the car prowler.
Now even to me it's a iffy shoot, marginal. But WA give the benefit of the doubt to the person defending.

If you have a Penlight/small LED lite, check to see if one of the pins to your power cord are bent. Missus did that to me once. I used a small jewelers screwdriver and fine needle nose pliers to straighten it-fortunately without breaking it off.

The best Christmas gift I ever received was the year I didn't want anything for Christmas except to be forgiven for something I had done. Someone pressured me to name something I wanted. I said, "how can you top redemption?"
Well- I was happy that Christmas. It's not about the material.
Ding me down if you want, but I could give two shits about Santa.
In my upbringing we didn't have Santa...my parents told us the angels brought our presents. They'd put them out on Christmas Eve while we were made to stay in a different part of the house and then my Dad (who was the angel) would tinkle a bell, signaling that the angels had come.
Only Santa reference was on Dec 6, St Nicholas (sic) Day - get some candy stuffed in your shoes...

Bugger the thug huggers.
That should be on a t-shirt
from the link:
Gisele Bundchen wears him on the runway, Johnny Depp wears him around his neck, and Benicio Del Toro becomes him in the new, highly acclaimed, two-part epic film from Steven Soderbergh, Che. Ernesto "Che" Guevara, the revolutionary who helped found communist Cuba, is the celebrity that celebrities adore. And be it Madonna, Rage Against the Machine, or Jay-Z, musicians really dig Che.
It’s something that baffles Cuban jazz legend Paquito D’Rivera. “Che hated artists, so how is it possible that artists still today support the image of Che Guevara?” Turns out the rebellious icon that emblazons countless T-shirts actually enforced aesthetic and political conformity. D’Rivera explains that Che and other Cuban authorities sought to ban rock and roll and jazz.

Maddona and Johnny Depp love Che. such A-holes.
“He ordered the execution of many people with no trial.” Che served as Castro’s chief executioner, presiding over the infamous La Cabana prison. D’Rivera says Che’s policy of killing innocents earned him the nickname—the Butcher of La Cabana.

more about Che's and Mao's useful idiots:
Che, Castro, all the communist regimes idolized only one thing that Mao personifies—violence.” Kai Chen grew up in China under the reign of Mao Zedong. Although he won gold medals for China’s national basketball team, Chen’s was far from the celebrity life of an NBA star. Says Chen, “You have no right to talk, and you have no right to think.”
The punishment for questioning Mao’s authority was often death. The Black Book of Communism estimates that Mao is responsible for the deaths of 65 million people—a figure that dwarfs even Hitler’s body count. “Mao is a murderer,” says Chen. “The biggest mass murderer in human history.”
And yet, like Che, Mao’s image is becoming an increasingly popular way to move merchandise. You can buy Mao t-shirts, mugs, caps—you name it. Near Chen’s Los Angeles home there’s even a restaurant called Mao’s Kitchen. “Can you imagine a restaurant called Hitler’s Kitchen?” asks Gillespie.
American leftists are serious fucktards.

And now for something completely different:
A burglar broke into a house and shined his flashlight around looking
for valuables.
He picked up a CD player when a strange, disembodied voice echoed from the dark saying: 'Jesus is watching you.'
He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked off his flashlight and
froze. When he heard nothing more he continued. Just as he pulled the
stereo out he heard: 'Jesus is watching you.'
Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically. Finally, in the
corner of the room his light beam came to rest on a parrot.
'Did you say that?' he hissed at the parrot.
'Yep,' the parrot confessed, then squawked, 'I'm just trying to warn
you that he's watching you.'
The burglar relaxed. 'Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?'
'Moses,' replied the bird.
'Moses?' the burglar laughed. 'What kind of people would name a bird Moses?'
'The kind that would name a Rottweiler Jesus.'

Looks like those moms need to take a look at the Toddler's Creed and then have a look at themselves...I hope they went home and after their idiotic rage subsided, they were mortified with their behavior, but I very much doubt it.
The Toddler's Creed
If I want it, it's mine.
If I give it to you and change my mind later, it's mine.
If I can take it away from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine, it will never belong to anybody else, no matter what.
If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine.
If it looks just like mine, it is mine.

Spare O'Lake Thu, Dec 11, 2008 8:27:06pm |
By sheer coincidence I heard an interesting interview on the radio this evening. A Jewish female author was plugging her book, and she related what she saw as an interesting biblical example of secular independent morality.
Following God's stated intention to kill all the inhabitants of Sodom, Abraham displayed an independent moral position which was not derived from anything that God had dictated.
Abraham stood up to and took on God concerning what Abraham considered to be His intemperate sentence. He then proceeded to negotiate with God to reduce the cost of sparing the population from 50 down to 10 righteous men.
Abraham's desire to save the Sodomites and his heroic efforts to do so demonstrated a non-religious based morality. In this biblical story God started out as the harsh unmerciful one, while Abraham was the voice of compassion, mercy and reason.
Food for thought?

That's actually fun, I had a little kid come right around the corner face to face with me, while holing mommy's hand. I could see his face suddenly change and looked really astonished (of course the red hat with white trim I wear every year at this time for my "spirit" really helped) I looked him right in the eye and asked him "have you been good?" the wide eyes and the little head nodding as fast as he could bout made me pee myself, trying not to laugh. The mother winked at me as she went on, with the little kid looking back over his shoulder the whole way...
