This kind of cowardly arson is disgusting.

I hope they catch whoever did it and punish them accordingly.

But, I thought all the hate in this country was from the right? Sure seems like the left is the hate filled side...

Arson + Hate Crime.

Hope the perp spends a long time in jail.

If Sarah Palin is "no longer a threat to America now that she's back in Alaska," as liberals so quaintly put it, why do they still do stuff like this?

/rhetorical

6 BeerDrinking_VictoryMonkey  Tue, Dec 16, 2008 1:51:31pm

Let's not jump to conclusions that a "liberal" did this. There's no suspect yet.

A church has to be in the southeastern US for it to be a hate crime. Nothing to see here.

I don't understand how somebody could get away with this and not be spotted pouring gas (or whatever flammable liquid it was) all over the church when people were inside. At any rate I hope they catch the sick f#$% who did this. Any suspicions it was all about you Sarah? She actually handled that question quite well, and apologized to the pastor once again if it were somehow connected to her (like there is any doubt).

There is a creepy obsession on the Left about this woman.
She is their "great Satan". The effigy on the noose, the c^^t t shirts worn by kids . I don't think there has been anybody better representing what the Left stands against than Palin. Palin brings out the worse in them. It is almost like as if she is the one through whom we see the lunacy of the Left. Chasing a woman with pitch forks and torches like a witch hunt by moonbats.
Even rebuplicans are afraid of her. Was McCain right that she really was a maverick?

I think so.

But had this been Reverend Wright's "Chickens Coming Home to Roost" church , the outcry would have been deafening.

And there were women in the church at the time the fire was set scrap booking? Sounds like an attempted murder charge to me.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about! But it sounds very entertaining.

I'll leave it to you to wander through the wiki. Basically the Greater School Northern Buddhists (China, Tibet, Japan, Korea) split off from the older schools that survived in South East Asia as Buddhist influence declined in India. The Northern schools called the Southern schools the Lesser but it is much more complicated than that. Something like Bolsheviks versus Mensheviks.

The church fire was a Republican false-flag op, just like 9/11!
/

Yup. That's what I thought right off. In fact, I'll bet it was started by her soon to be son-in-law. You see, he's a Methodist and just couldn't stomach being married in a Baptist Church, and so he hired a couple of guys from the local Marine Reserve Depot and they dressed up as hippies, after using copious amounts of Rogaine, and paid some junkies to buy some gasoline for them, and then early the very next morning, when it was still night (this is Alaska, ya know) the dressed up as Indians and threw the tea over board . . . I mean they poured the gas all around the church and flipped their bics . . . but since they were Marines, they used Zippos.

/there ya have it.

Again, I'm in the middle on the gay/church issue. I would hope the gay community would respect the church views on their life style and not disrupt a service for example and I'd hope the church would respect private adult behavior in their own bedroom. That's why I support civil unions, but not gay marriage. A civil contract with all the benefits is one thing, but the word "marriage" is pretty much a special deal to those of faith and I get that.
I don't see how giving committed gay couples the right to visit their partner in the hospital is a threat to anyone for example.

- I'd love to see Todd open a can of whoop ass on the arsonist almost as much as I'd love to see him meet John McCain in a dark alley in some Democrat machine-controlled city in the Lower 48.

- Have the leftazoid rumors started yet that Trigg actually started the fire to seek revenge against his mother/grandmother for spending too much time on the campaign trail?

GeorgeP922 Folks, this church was an extremist church. This church supported speaking in tounges, faith healing, and even folks practing witchcraft.

I guess to a liberal elitist, an 'Alaskan' accent (much like a southern drawl) is "speaking in tongues"

These were from Breitbart:

I will never be tolerant of Christians or their teachings…..EVER…Your savior is **nt licking swami **ck…..your to busy pouring money into mega churches to realize it

Your God Is Dead December 15th, 2008 - 2:03 pm

and daniel if you ever wanted to be included into a liberal society, all you have to do is act like it. Stop being a racists homophobe, who only wants to see white people advance…white people have had plenty of years to advance….if you haven’t its too bad…I finger **cked the Virgin Mary…she’s a squirter

YOUR GOD IS DEAD December 15th, 2008 - 2:15 pm

PHOENIX (Reuters) - The Mexican government has opened a special call center in Arizona to provide a sympathetic ear for citizens caught up in crackdown on illegal immigration in the desert state.

And we allow an entity that is trying to willfully subvert the laws of this nation to set up shop?

They have the ACLU on their side as well

I cannot understand why the ACLU would want bail for illegal aliens? Once you release them, they do not come back, unless of course, they get pinched for another crime.

Illegals killing cops, illegals killing people while drunk and on drugs, the illegal on illegal crime is off the charts...they should not be here in the first place, and the fact that they are cut loose (or used to be) once they make bail, so they can continue breaking the law makes me ill.

re: #182 IslandLibertarian

Ok it seems that some people around here need a bit of an education on what Kristalnacht was.

KRISTALLNACHT – THE NOVEMBER 1938 POGROMS

Seventy years ago, on November 9–10, 1938, the Nazis staged vicious pogroms—state sanctioned, anti-Jewish riotsagainst the Jewish community of Germany. These came to be known as Kristallnacht (now commonly translated as “Night of Broken Glass”), a reference to the untold numbers of broken windows of synagogues, Jewish-owned stores, community centers, and homes plundered and destroyed during the pogroms. Encouraged by the Nazi regime, the rioters burned or destroyed 267 synagogues, vandalized or looted 7,500 Jewish businesses, and killed at least 91 Jewish people. They also damaged many Jewish cemeteries, hospitals, schools, and homes as police and fire brigades stood aside. Kristallnacht was a turning point in history. The pogroms marked an intensification of Nazi anti-Jewish policy that would culminate in the Holocaust—the systematic, state-sponsored murder of Jews.

This is NOTHING like Kristalnacht!

A couple other notes here as well.

Arson is not uncommon in Alaska, but it's usually a business, not a church as focus.

High school kids in Alaska are notoriously wild, and have been known to drive trucks through high shools and malls, kidnap Mayor's paintings for ransom, drink before they are legal, and other wild things, all while still being pretty conservative in political views.

Regardless who done it, they need to find the sunsabitches and throw the book at them.

"Oh I just want to visit my loved one in the hospital!" OK, get off your arse and do it then! You don't need to be married, unioned, blood oathed, super secret hand shaked, nothing. In fact, I visit strangers ALL THE TIME in the hospital (soldiers returning from Iraq - I also sneak in cookies, please don't tell on me).

The next tear jerker "I just want to leave my loved one my estate" OK then, write a will and knock yourself out. If a person can leave their cat or dog everything they own, by George, you can leave a person whatever you desire in a will.

I whole heartedly agree with your second paragraph. But what you seem to ignore is the white Christian's majority here in the United States as of now. That doesn't make the "mocking, humiliating, bullying, taunting, or even assaulting" of Christians acceptable or correct...but its a far path from the turning point towards the Holocaust.

I drop in on the AFA site now and then to see which of my favorite TV shows they are trying to get off the air. Every time I drop in, they are boycotting someone for supporting the "gay agenda" Things like equal rights for gay couples, and the rest. They always have a church guy ranting about the gay lifestyle. That's what I meant about the church in the bed room. I'm not gay, but but if I were, I'd feel the same way about the church opinions about my lifestyle as I do about their attitude about what I watch or read.

ah. Yes, I believe that The Left (and even some on the Right) definitely have it out for the religious (especially the Christians). I don't forsee outright attacks on them however, as white Christians hold too much power here in the U.S. Like the Islamists, they will use your good nature, "turn the other cheek" mentality, and the laws of the U.S. against you.

My 17 year old thinks differently. Maybe its nurture? She feels like me. I do not care one bit what goes on in a bedroom between two consenting adults. I don't want to be forced into accepting the lifestyle.

I have a great friend who is gay - we talk about this a lot. Surprisingly, he says the gay activists have hurt the cause more than helped. He doesn't understand the desire to advertise sexual orientation so blatantly - to him, its a private act that should be kept private. Imagine that.

He opposes gay marriage, because he opposes divorce. He is really a great person to get a perspective from.

Do they usually pour the accelerant around all the entrances while people are still inside when committing all these "wild things"?

The mentioned stunts usually fall within the normal range of wild teens. Been guilty of much of it myself...way back.

Setting her church on fire, is an extreme example.

re: #273 Iron Fist

I guess it is possible that this wasn't related to Palin. I wonder how many church arsons there were in Alaska this year? I wouldn't suspect that it'd be very many. If this were a black church in, say, Alabama, we'd be pretty sure it was members of the Krazy Kracker Klub or their fellow travelers.

It would be possible that we'd be wrong. I remember something about a church arson that was staged by the pastor somewhere in the past 15 years or so. I don't remember enough detail to find it, though.

I think that it is probable that this was directed at Palin. Probably by Krazy Kos Kidz, DUers, or their fellow travelers. If I were the cops, I'd be watching for some idiot to take credit for it. His way of "sticking it to the MAN".

In fact, Clinton's campaign speeches notwithstanding, it turned out that most deep-south arson attacks against black churches were the work of local firebugs, sometimes members of the congregation. It's all too easy to forget that arsonists do this for fun. They don't have to have a political reason. They just like to see stuff burn, and if that stuff includes people, well, so?

Not all evil is political.

re: #274 vapig

If we are going to disagree, then let's disagree about something that we actually disagree about.

I agree that there is a direct inequity against white Christians in this country.

What we disagree about however is the following.

I don't believe that the attacks will ever become violent to the extent that those against the Jews in Germany were. The Anti-Religionists (we really cannot call them "Left" as there are many even here on LGF who consider themselves "Right") will continue to do what they have already been exceptionally successful with and simply use the laws of the U.S. against you, and politely schooch you out of your rights one PC ruling/statement at a time.

This is why I can simultaneously believe that you could lose your equal rights yet at the same time not be at risk for an attack based on the fact that white christians have a super majority.

An interesting question however is: How would the Country actually respond if it did happen. When I start to think about it, I will have to agree with you that I'm not too sure they would care all that much. This Country, Left and Right are going very Anti-Religion. This I agree. They just won't go violent because they don't realize how anti-religious they are, and thus can't be so direct about it. They confuse themselves into thinking they are being "equal" or "tolerant", or "fair", or other buzz words which have had their meanings perverted. Thus, their fight is and will continue to be a slow push towards secularism or "human rights", or other non religious PC buzz words.

Yeah, I agree it's probable that it was politically motivated.

"School Children Set to Become Junior Wardens

School Children Set to Become Junior Wardens A group of 30 pupils from an All Saints school are gearing up to become Wolverhampton’s first Junior Wardens.

The whole of year 5 from Grove Primary School, based on Caledonia Road, will participate in the scheme which is being run by the ABCD Neighbourhood Wardens in conjunction with West Midlands Police. Funding for the project has come from the West Midlands Police Community Initiatives Fund. Sergeant Glen Moseley from the All Saints Neighbourhood Policing Team secured the funding to buy uniforms and stationary for the Junior Wardens.

The aim of the scheme is to promote citizenship and to raise the young people’s awareness of their community, environment and the difference they can make. The junior wardens will undertake a series of lessons teaching them about different aspects of safety and how to be observant about what is going on around them. They will receive talks from a number of different people including West Midlands Fire Service, Police Community Support Officers and the council’s environmental team.

Senior Warden Simon Hamilton, who has organised the scheme said: “This is a great opportunity to teach some of our young people to think about what is going on the local area, how they can improve their environment and how to help prevent crime. We are extremely grateful to the police for funding this scheme and I hope that this is something that other schools can undertake in the future.”

There was a UK TV programme on recently where local government environmental officer went into primary school and told the children to grass on people they saw not picking up dog litter.

As this scheme is funded by the state, I wonder how long these children will be do this and other forms of snooping for the government?

The left here is also violent. It's what they do. If they feel the time is right, they will kill to make a better world. They believe that breaking a few (million) eggs to make their utopian omlette is perfectly acceptable.

342 Randall Gross  Tue, Dec 16, 2008 3:20:17pm

Five church members were inside when the blaze started but they were able to get out safely after the fire alarm sounded.

The church, just off the Parks Highway on the western edge of town, conducts Sunday services attracting up to 1,000 people. Church members include many well-known Valley residents, including Palin, Rep. Carl Gatto, R-Palmer, and Mat-Su Borough Mayor Curt Menard and his wife, Sen.-elect Linda Menard, R-Wasilla.
Palin's ties to the church have sparked widespread speculation about whether the person who lit the fire was motivated by that connection. However, Steele said that idea remains in the realm of pure speculation.

"At this point, there is no information that we have that even points in that direction," he said.

At the church Tuesday, a somewhat bleary-eyed Rev. Larry Kroon was meeting with his staff and trying to sort out when the church would be usable again. The senior pastor said services could be held inside again as early as mid-January but it would depend on a variety of factors, including whether the blaze affected the building's structural integrity.

It will reassemble tomorrow at 9:00 a.m until 5:00 p.m., with a 12:45 p.m. -- 1:45 p.m. lunch break while oral arguments are heard before the Minnesota Supreme Court (the Chief Judge and an Associate are also on the five person canvassing board).

I haven't built a rifling machine yet. So i bought a rough turned blank. Finish turned it. Crowned the muzzle, chambered it and then threaded it to screw into my action. All other parts save a couple of screws were made from scratch. And all hardening (except the receiver block which was machined from hardened and tempered 4140 alloy) was done in a forge I inherited from my Grandfather. Scope is an old Weaver from the 60's which I sent to Weaver in El Paso for refurbishment. I have taken 4 deer with it so far. Chambered in 30-40 Krag. Weighs 5.5 pounds with scope and sling.

I am very impressed...I wont insult you questioning it's accuracy, I'm sure it is!...a fine accomplishment...thanks for the skinny and good shooting

Dang, at first I thought this was an article about the East German Stasi.

Ok Russia didn't have a 1st Amendment which even at its worst interpretation would protect your individual right to practice religion. (so far)

Also, Russia was a Socialist Governmental fully controlled country, where the purging of religion from the populace was state sanctioned and purposeful. Even on our worst day here in the U.S. that just isn't the case.

If you are going to be worried, and you probably should, you should concentrate on the actual slow, PC, every day attack on your rights as a religious person. It will be done by PC, not guns!

You keep ignoring my Russia (turning into the USSR) analogy. That was ONE people. That was left against right. It was the Godless against those of the faith. Those of the faith lost - violently.

The left here is also violent. It's what they do. If they feel the time is right, they will kill to make a better world. They believe that breaking a few (million) eggs to make their utopian omlette is perfectly acceptable.

The ends justify the means to them. They see no evil in it. To them, they are removing the evil.

They'll have to take away all guns first.

It's a slow taking away of freedoms and more importantly, the taking away of the right to speak your mind without fear. Sure, you can speak out, but then your church gets burned down, or vandalized, or your car keyed.

How many people do you think keep their opinions back because they aren't willing to take on the fight? (As opposed to not having a political fight in the middle of a family gathering, which I practice.)

The "purge" will take place, it just won't be violent. If you are predicting a Christian revolution of those who refuse to be pushed to the fringes, and disenfranchised; then I presume two things (1) it will be too late before they realize what has happened, or (2) they will use violence (as is your prediction) and in that case they will be treated like criminals, but most likely termed "Christian terrorists" and the Gov. will act accordingly (Need a silver lining?: the MSM will finally use the world Terrorist)

Burning churches, bombing banks . . .

I read about this on the Draft Sarah Palin for VP site. I read that several of the posters there are donating to the church.

In other terrorist activities, if you're keeping up on the Oregon bombing case, I just read that a second person has been taken into custody, and the guy is the first guy's father! That has to be a first. As a parent, I always think of the pain that the parents of these criminals feel, and in this case, well, that doesn't really apply. Better check on the mother--maybe she set Sarah's church on fire.

I'm not too worried about slow PC attacks, especially if it's running Vista. It'll ask you 20 times if you want to allow the attack and then crash before actually attacking. I'd be much more worried about fast MAC attacks.

LOL- Never looked at Vista's performance issues as being its best defense against viruses - no CPU or memory left over to run the virus!

Brilliant!

AFA is the American Family Association

AFA

They target anyone that they feel promotes the gay life style and their group is a powerful force on the religious right. BTW, I too condemn the extreme gay activists, but merely supporting gay rights is not something that threatens the church in my opinion.
Let me be clear, no one, not just gays should mess with anyone's faith or even lack thereof.

A holocaust or genocide? No. But may I remind you of the swat team on the steps of the LDS temple in Los Angeles? It's a slow taking away of freedoms and more importantly, the taking away of the right to speak your mind without fear. Sure, you can speak out, but then your church gets burned down, or vandalized, or your car keyed.

How many people do you think keep their opinions back because they aren't willing to take on the fight? (As opposed to not having a political fight in the middle of a family gathering, which I practice.)

The Catholic church has already lost their participation in social services adoptions in Massachusetts. What would have happened in California? Hopefully, we'll never know.

I agree with what you are saying 100%. In fact, not too long ago there was an editorial (or letter) in the LA Times that actually argued for what you are pointing out. They stated that those who are going to disagree with them (not knowingly making this stupid of an argument) should know that they are going to get into a fight, and better be ready for it, or not speak up and say hateful things at all. They went on to add that they should accept that fighting for your job afterwards, being attacked on the street, etc., is just the cost of free speech.

OT: No ’wife of the year’ award for this Hyde Park woman

A Hyde Park woman was arrested Sunday night for allegedly trying to suffocate her husband after getting into a heated argument about her phone-card use.
The victim’s son told cops his mother pushed her husband into the bedroom and began smothering him with a pillow despite knowing he had a cold.

Another son told cops his mother later grabbed the victim and threw him into a wall, even though he suffered from a bad back.

Omme R. George was charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery.

The kind of slime that would burn down a church is the same kind of slime who would kill a priest. They hate Christians and Christianity. In this case, they hate Sarah Palin and what she stands for. They underestimate, however, what Christians in North America are capable of doing and withstanding.

Arson is arson and murder is murder. Whether it's a church or a priest shouldn't matter. Also, the penalty for, say, drug dealing next to a church shouldn't be any more severe (it is in my town) than it is next to my house. Schools are a different matter.

re: #414 Eowyn2

Yes me too, and I think it is well rooted in present day American society. People today in the West like to push towards what they want to be reality, and away from what has actually been proven to work in the World. They think that removing religion from society is "tolerant" and will improve the Country. Because of their lack of history, they don't know that such has usually been the final blow to any society.

re: #417 IslandLibertarian

As is occurring now, religion will be pushed further, and further out of society. Where it was once only that The Church shouldn't have too much say within the Government, it became no actual overlap of "church and state", which became no mention of Religion at all within the Gov, which became "its discriminatory to mention religion in public", which has leaked into private conversation (ie: businesses saying "Happy holidays", which has further leaked into thinking religion is something you can only do in private and should even be kept out of your personal voting and decision making. There won't be a violent purge of religious people, they will just be mocked, shamed, and culturally pushed to the fringes, then to non existence.

I respect your points on this, too. I just say "marriage" is not the panacea to all that is wrong with the situations you raise. Heck, look at the Terry Shaivo(sp?) situation. Setting aside her medical condition, the fact that a guy who mishandled her court settlement funds and was living with another woman was able to make decisions over the parents simply because he was "married" to her had ethical questions all over it. There is no easy answer to this, really.

I've seen people married to soliders killed in action get to chose where to bury them over their families knowing full well they were cheating on the guy and on the verge of divorce the whole time they were gone. Humans are flawed, sometimes horribly so.

Personally, I don't care who is gay, straight or otherwise. I, being from Massachusetts all my life strenuously objected to the way we were forced into the gay marriage law. It was apparent, from polling, that the citizens of Mass overwhelmingly were against the measure, so the SJC legislated from the bench. The people turned in 5 X the number of signatures to bring a referendum to ballot, but the legislature, in clear violation of the state constitution, flatly refused to let the people vote. The explanation I heard from my state senator was that they knew the people would, and I quote "Make the wrong decision, so we cannot allow a vote" That was state senator Rob O'Leary. I was at the meeting, and stood up and said to him, "Senator, you represent us, the voters who put you in office. How dare you tell us how we should think, or that you get to judge how you think we would vote.. We tell YOU how to vote. You do NOT vote YOUR conscience, You vote ours when you are in session, and just like us, you get one vote at the ballot box TO vote your conscience". He would not respond to me, and stopped the Q&A after that.

In addition, I can remember when the manifestoes of the then-burgeoning gay rights movement vocally advocated the destruction of marriage entirely--and it was not that long ago.

Well, if I remember correctly, one of the ways to destroy marriage was to promote gay marriage. Why get married if anybody can do it? What makes it special?

By making sure that civil unions and even straight partnership receive all the perks that were once reserved for married couples the institution has all but collapsed in Europe.

But to you point - I really wish the state was out of the marriage business altogether. For legality - civial unions all around. If you are religious - marriage.

re: #314 WrathofG-d

Very interesting discussion, I think I found most of it on this thread. The great danger for any unpopular group is the human ability to rationalize, the human reluctance to apply impartial ethical standards. That is why we need conscience formation that instills empathy and embeds love of truth, love of justice, love of mercy.

If those standards are part of our cultural inheritance for the majority of people, there is hope that savagery can be fought back, forced to retreat behind the barricades of law and reason. If too few have these qualities instilled, no matter how intellectually brilliant or how materially wealthy our society is, then savagery will ultimately rule.

The human default setting is Might Makes Right. Society must constantly check and reset the defaults to ensure the future of civilization. Otherwise the future looks like this: "Imagine a boot stamping on a human face, forever."

I am really ashamed to admit this, but we had a lovely wedding reception when our dog bred with the pooch next door. He had a nifty bow tie, she had a cute veil, we all had champagne and cake. (Good grief! It's true!)

Now I've heard everything.

Another thought. Why haven't these tax benefits been revoked owing to the barring of women becoming priests? Isn't that discrimination based upon gender?

Yeah well, what most people still dont realise is that the same people who had frickin stormtroopers outside the front of polling booths pre-election is the same guy who is now lining up to take control of the country. He's from the Chicago side of politics. If you cant buy it or bury it .. burn it down. And this linky in the links section talking about a 1 million rebellion, well .. thats just ASKING for trouble. This guy comes out swinging with a baseball bat, and he's not a baseball player. We seem to think that a guy that has managed everything he has done in such a short period of time is flying on luck. He's flying with a heck of a lot of power behind him. Power that wants to get things done that most people aint gonna like.

re: #482 buzzsawmonkey

Your post reminded me that humans are funny critters. Some gays not only want acceptance of their lifestyle as equal to ours, they want it to be better.
I'm reminded because of the nearby Gallaudet university for the deaf. The students there tossed out the university President because she talked as well as signed and thus was not worthy. Some even opposed surgery to restore hearing because they felt that demeaned their deafness.
Some gays want more then equal validation for their lifestyle, most just want acceptance. Like the fruit cake religious nut that hold antigay protests at the funerals of of our brave soldiers, some gay fruit cakes dress up in drag and invade a church service. Neither extreme should be accepted in a civil society as reasonable behavior.

Absolutely. I didn't even like the pink bumper stickers because not only are her looks of no importance to me, neither is her sex.

Ditto Janet Reno. I am typically frustrated at those that mention only her looks (Or Michael Moore, or Hillary, etc.) Their looks are the very least of their sins.

Find the damned arsonists and attempted murderers of innocent children and women. Expose their motive and hate.
Prosecute them to the full extent of the law for their crimes.
Greta will stay abreast of any further developments and blast the story throughout the attentive media and we can help by getting this coverage out in the blogosphere.
I hope Gov. Palin has increased security details around her home and workplace.

re: #9 Charles

Let's not jump to conclusions that a "liberal" did this. There's no suspect yet.

Such caution would seem well advised. Perhaps the perp is some lone fool with an issue about local zoning laws or a vindictive ex-husband. No less likely It could be another sad example of the failure of America's inadequate psychiatric commitment laws. If that is so, it may well be that some political agitator may have come close to earning this year's ignominious "Rev. Al Sharpton - Freddy's Fashion Mart Award" (1) for 2008.

Let us hope and pray that however that we are not witnessing an instance outright political/religious terror. Such would be a frightening consequence of the years of hate filled vitriol, slander and demonization unleashed by the Left against Pres. Bush and his political allies.

(1) in 1995, a black Pentecostal Church, the United House of Prayer, which owned a retail property on 125th Street in Manhattan, asked Fred Harari, a Jewish tenant who operated Freddie's Fashion Mart, to evict his longtime subtenant, a black-owned record store called The Record Shack. Sharpton led a protest in Harlem against the planned eviction of The Record Shack. Sharpton told the protesters, "We will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business."

On December 8, 1995, Roland J. Smith Jr. (aka Abugunde Mulocko), one of the protesters and a recently released mental patient, entered Harari's store with a gun and flammable liquid, shot several customers and set the store on fire. The gunman fatally shot himself, and seven store employees died of smoke inhalation. (adapted from Wikipedia)

I believe that the activists had a slogan at that time:

"A Molotov cocktail, the flash of a match

And your honky Jew store is a pile of ash!"
