JWF Post About Trig Palin Brings Out the Nirthers

Charles Johnsonfollow me on twitter
US News • Fri Dec 19, 2008 at 9:10 am PST • Views: 315

JammieWearingFool notes that Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol is due to give birth tomorrow, and says the timing casts serious doubt on Andrew Sullivan’s obsession with the idea that Bristol gave birth to Trig Palin.

(And in the comments for his post, Nirthers are attacking me for refusing to join in with their loony conspiracy theories.)

The Troofers have no shame.
They will not see an apology as relevant to anything in the Universe.

Their explanation will now be that Trig was born premature.

12 nyc redneck  Fri, Dec 19, 2008 9:17:05am

i think it was sarah palin's choice to have her child.
people w/ downs syndrome are living healthy productive lives.
some living into their 60's and 70's today.
many are employed and taking fine care of themselves.
i think these people attacking sarah and her daughter are really attacking the choice that was made to have the baby.
fck them.

22 jwb7605  Fri, Dec 19, 2008 9:18:53am

I particularly like this comment:

You guys are a little simple, this proves nothing. Trig was Bristol's baby, but Palin claimed it was her's, then realizing that they wouldn't be able to cover it up forever, Palin got pregnant, hid it during the campaign, and now is giving birth to the cover-up baby which they'll claim is Bristol's to cover-up the fact that Trig was really Bristol's baby.

I'm a little winded after typing that last sentence, I need to go lie down.

24 LGoPs  Fri, Dec 19, 2008 9:19:26am

Sad thing is that the truth really doesn't matter to so many people. What will remain in their minds is a vague echo of the original accusation and that's what will set their disposition toward Palin in the future - and based on these types of scurrilous attacks, that disposition will be negative.
The original attack is all that matters. That this is done deliberately and with malice is a testament to the vileness of modern liberals. And then they call us mean-spirited...bastards.

25 DistantThunder  Fri, Dec 19, 2008 9:19:33am

Sorry for the quick OT, but...

With economy in shambles, Congress gets a raise

A crumbling economy, more than 2 million constituents who have lost their jobs this year, and congressional demands of CEOs to work for free did not convince lawmakers to freeze their own pay.

Instead, they will get a $4,700 pay increase, amounting to an additional $2.5 million that taxpayers will spend on congressional salaries, and watchdog groups are not happy about it.

In the beginning days of 1789, Congress was paid only $6 a day, which would be about $75 daily by modern standards. But by 1965 members were receiving $30,000 a year, which is the modern equivalent of about $195,000.

Currently the average lawmaker makes $169,300 a year, with leadership making slightly more. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) makes $217,400, while the minority and majority leaders in the House and Senate make $188,100.

This fucking pisses me off! Their salaries should match their performance!

35 lawhawk  Fri, Dec 19, 2008 9:20:25am

Whither Andrew Sullivan? He's been claiming that Sarah covered for Bristol's birthing of Trig. This would be a repudiation of that pretty soundly, but he's going to stand by it.

What about his employers at The Atlantic or anyone else that picks up his scribblings? Don't they care or realize the damage he's done to their reputations by peddling this crap? Guess not. They've got a conspiracy to fulfill.

What is it with Andrew Sullivan and vaginas anyway?

A few years back he was all in a tizzy over the abuse of prisoners at Gitmo. The particular incident that really upset him was smearing fake menstrual blood on the captives to humiliate them. Sully found that just too, too horrible. And now he's obsessed over whose vagina a particular baby came out of.

He's got a real issue there.

On the long list of things currently provoking my outrage, this is pretty low. It's a 2.8% nominal increase; doesn't even match inflation, in fact not even close.

I second Walter on this one. State employees in Georgia got 0% and the cost of our benefits went up. I can live with that given our budget circumstance and being a citizen as well as an employee of the state, but it doesn't sit well to watch our professional plutocrats give themselves raises in rocky times. (On a side note my colleagues and I have saved the state multiple times our agency budget including salaries in process improvements we have facilitated accross state agencies).

So what has congress done for us lately?

What is it with Andrew Sullivan and vaginas anyway?

A few years back he was all in a tizzy over the abuse of prisoners at Gitmo. The particular incident that really upset him was smearing fake menstrual blood on the captives to humiliate them. Sully found that just too, too horrible. And now he's obsessed over whose vagina a particular baby came out of.

He's got a real issue there.

The left is obsessed with genetalia and excretion of bodily fluids.

Can't agree. Voting oneself a raise during bad economic times is arrogant and callous. Doesn't matter if it cost the taxpayer $2 or $2B. It's wrong. If they got paid $40K + room and board, you wouldn't have professional politicians.

Lot at Pat Buchanan, another right nut case. Look at some of the VB like groups and folks (Robert SPencer), more nuts.

Look, whether we like it or not, there is a hell of a lot of people on both sides who are jumping the shark, and turning into, if anything, armchair fascists.

It seems to me that the COLA raise they get was put in place to get around the constitutional amendment that prohibits the voting of ones-self a raise while in office. This is much like side-stepping the constitution to allow Lloyd Bentsen (SP?) and Hillary to become an appointed official whose salary was increased due to the vote of the party involved.

I don't think we should be allowing Congress to be side-stepping the constitution in this manner which is why I am a huge proponent of voting them all out and starting fresh.

there are many more things to do here in the wintertime than drugs.

For years I've been aching to go to Alaska, and not to do drugs.

I clipped this out of travel alaska:

"Alaskans don't hibernate like bears; winter's when the fun begins and you're officially invited! Whether you desire endless white solitude or endless activities and events, we have it all - from wildlife to wildly good times.

We're not in the dark - as widely thought. We bask in 6-13 hours of daylight sandwiched between a ton of twilight on one end and endless dawns on the other. And with average temperatures around 20°F, winter enthusiasts can enjoy Alaska in complete comfort.

Immerse yourself in Native culture, check out the wildlife, take a horse-drawn sleigh ride or drive your own team of sled dogs. Enjoy all varieties of skiing, and then there's snowboarding, skating, hockey, ice fishing, snow machines, winter carnivals and festivals - and did we mention great food, extremely entertaining indoor stuff, world-class accommodations and outstanding deals!"

This whole theory demostrates just how strange the left thinks the right is, how they fundamentally don't understand us.

This was all to "cover up" the fact she was pregnant? Why would the pregnancy be something to cover up? Do they think we are in the 1950's where girls were so ashamed to get pregnant young that we would send her away or something like that? No. Its now pretty normal and people have recognized the moral failing of hiding it away like that. Its not to say that getting pregnant as a teenager is a good thing. it is not. but it just isn't treated like that anymore.

So the theory is Sarah Palin went through all this trouble and risked getting caught, all to cover up a non-scandal.

And while i appreciate what Jammie Wearing Fool is trying to do, bluntly, anyone who believes this is beyond logic, especially Andrew Sullivan. They have transformed the other side into all powerful monsters, and no amount of logic would do any good. there are cases where reasonable questions can be asked, and there are cases where there are no reasonable questions left.

The saddest moment of this whole silly thing was when they pointed at a picture of Bristol and she had a little normal fat and they said she looked pregnant. what do you think that did to that girl's self-esteem? it was a shameful moment in a silly "scandal."

154 mefolkes  Sat, Dec 20, 2008 9:38:27pm

For those who insist on dragging the drug charge against Bristol's future mother-in-law into this discussion, it should be noted that the drug involved was oxycontin, not something that is grown or "cooked" at home. It is also often involved with people who have a legitimate pain problem, rather than "zeroes" who just want to get high. But the Left isn't concerned with making distinctions. They have often felt free to lump vets who got hooked on morphine from their war wounds in with "recreational" drug users. Mrs. Johnston's arrest details are being kept under wraps for now. We don't know if she was in pain and needing more than her doctor prescribed, if she was desperately trying to get the medication for someone she cares about who has a legitimate pain problem, or if she was just a sleaze who wanted to make easy money. Whatever the details turn out to be, the arrest of Mrs. Johnston has absolutely nothing to do with Gov. Palin's ethics or ability to handle jobs with great responsibility. As others have pointed out in this thread, the Left has generally turned a blind eye to Obama's admitted "recreational" drug use, so it remains a mystery why this fringe drug arrest story is of any importance to them.
