A delightfully bizarre mondo-tiki rendition of the Trio classic “Da Da Da,” from the album Senor Coconut: Around the World. You can’t go wrong mixing German art-rock, Louis Prima, and hot chicks. (Mildly racy.)

I've never understood what the point of that quote is supposed to be, but in some dark corners of the web, moonbats recycle it endlessly. I think it's supposed to prove I'm a racist because I used the word "Caucasian," referring to Rachel Corrie, who was, of course, Caucasian. Is that a racist code word now?

The point I made was that she was being exploited as a "martyr," by the ISM and Hamas/Fatah, specifically because she was more Western in appearance and presumably more appealing to the Western audience. There's racism in that, sure -- on the part of the groups exploiting Corrie's death.

A rare example of good reporting from the MSM...
Q+A: Egypt in tight spot enforcing blockade of Gaza

Cairo believes that if it left the Egypt-Gaza border wide open Israel would wash its hands of responsibility for ensuring the Gazans receive enough to keep them alive -- food, water, medical supplies, electricity and other essentials. Egyptian diplomats say that Israel would seal the border with Gaza on its side, diverting all trade and traffic through Egypt.

The burden would be a drain on Egyptian resources and the authorities might find it hard to prevent an influx of Gaza Palestinians seeking work and housing.

In one worst-case scenario Israel might hold Egypt responsible for any attacks on Israel launched from Gaza, forcing Egypt to act as Gaza policeman -- a role fraught with danger. Egypt's presence in Gaza between 1948 and 1967, and its inability to impose full control on Palestinian groups there, helped drag Egypt into war with Israel in 1956 and 1967.
...
THE ISLAMIST FACTOR -- ...

Egypt also fears that Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood will cooperate behind its back, adding to the internal security threats which are Cairo's main concern.

A delightfully bizarre mondo-tiki rendition of the Trio classic “Da Da Da,” from the album Senor Coconut: Around the World. You can’t go wrong mixing German art-rock, Louis Prima, and hot chicks.

When the girls appear in gorilla suits, near the start of the video, I thought they were going to start klonking each other on the head with drumsticks, Ernie Kovacs-style -- being a clever cross-cultural reference from "Trio," the makers of the original song, to "Nairobi Trio," the gorilla-suited music box figurines from the Ernie Kovacs Show.

But no.

I was sorely disappointed. That just took off the gorilla suits. It had nothing to do with a clever Nairobi Trio reference.

For that reason alone, and also because I actually prefer unadorned original song, musically, to this tropical version, I'm going to have to give this one a thumbs down.

I await all "minus" votes!

WOW...check this out from Aaron Klein...

Sources: Palestinian leader begged Israel to hit Hamas

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and his office today slammed as "barbaric" and "unnecessary" Israel's air strikes in Gaza, but according to top diplomatic sources in Jerusalem, Abbas for months now has been petitioning Israel to launch a massive military raid against his Hamas rivals in Gaza.

The sources, speaking to WND on condition of anonymity, said Abbas and his top representatives have waged a quiet campaign for months asking the Israeli government to target Hamas in Gaza just before his term in office is scheduled to expire on Jan. 9.

Hamas leaders have repeatedly warned they will not recognize Abbas after the 9th, and that they will launch a major campaign to delegitimize the PA president and install their own figures to lead the Palestinian government.

Abbas hopes a large-scale Israeli military campaign in Gaza would distract Hamas from attempting to undermine his rule, the diplomatic sources told WND.

"It's an open secret among the diplomatic and military brass," one Israeli diplomatic source said. "The campaign from Abbas for us to attack Hamas in Gaza has been intensive."

Bwahahahahahaha!

On "proportionate response"...
The Palestinians have launched over 2,713 rockets and mortars and 306 other attacks from Gaza alone. That's over 3,019 attacks.
Israel's response today

Following mid-morning bombings, in which some 60 warplanes struck more than 50 targets in just a few minutes, Hamas fired more than 70 rockets and mortars into Israel killing one person and injuring four, according to a new Israeli army toll.

Not even close. The vast majority of Palestinian attacks simply fail but it's not for lack of trying.

Only towards the end of the article is the reader informed of a Muslim connection. Oh, and what would a typical MSM report be without a smattering of relativism included in the final dish?

"Forced marriage affects men and women from all over the world and across many cultural groups," says Dr. Mohammad Talib, professor of contemporary South Asian studies at Oxford. "Historically, forced marriages also occurred among members of the British aristocracy."

A comment from the master moron here:

Hamas kills one Israeli, Israel kills over 220 Palestinians and wounds some 700 more. Hamas abides by the ceasefire for months, Israel imposes a vicious siege upon a civilian population composed primarily of children, restricting access even to basic necessities like food, water, electricty and medicines. Israel occupies Palestinian land, refuses to withdraw and continues to colonise and annexe its most valuable areas. Hamas...er..

There is no "tit for tat". There's a brutal military occupation, which only survives thanks to our support, and there's some (pretty feeble) resistance to that occupation.

If you try to talk sense into these people, they'll yell in your face, call you an idiot. I could throw history book after history book at them; analysis after analysis too and they would say, "Well that doesn't make sense cause that conflicts with my own selfish worldview!"

UN Ambassador Shalev defends IDF Gaza op in letter to Ban, UNSC head

In an urgent letter to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the head of the UN Security council, Israeli UN Ambassador Gabriela Shaleb on Saturday night defended Israel's decision to embark on a military operation in the Gaza Strip in order to put an end to rocket attacks on the South.

"Israel is taking the necessary military action in order to protect its citizens from ongoing terrorist attacks originating from the Gaza Strip and carried out by Hamas and other terrorist organizations," Shalev said, adding that Hamas "holds the sole responsibility for the latest events."

Israel, she continued, "has exhausted all means and efforts to reach and maintain quiet and to respect the state of calm… Israel's response is aimed solely against the terrorists and their infrastructures in the Gaza Strip. It is not intended against the civilian population. Israel is committed to prevent a humanitarian crisis."

Shalev asserted that "No country would allow continuous rocketing of its civilian population without taking the necessary actions to stop it."

Right on!

Gotcha!

It's called an informant plant. The Odessa narcotics unit illegally compelled an informant to plant drugs on Yolanda Madden. The informant testified in federal court he planted the drugs on her and he passed a polygraph confirming the same. Yolanda also passed a polygraph along with a hair follicle and urine test. Our broken criminal justice system ignored the evidence and railroaded her through court sentencing her to 8 years in prison.

Her father hired KopBusters, a new reality show produced by NeverGetBusted, whereby Barry and Candi along with their detectives set up stings across America to catch crooked Kops.

KopBusters rented a house in Odessa, Texas and began growing two small Christmas trees under a grow light similar to those used for growing marijuana. When faced with a suspected marijuana grow, the police usually use illegal FLIR cameras and/or lie on the search warrant affidavit claiming they have probable cause to raid the house. Instead of conducting a proper investigation which usually leads to no probable cause, the Kops lie on the affidavit claiming a confidential informant saw the plants and/or the police could smell marijuana coming from the suspected house.

The trap was set and less than 24 hours later, the Odessa narcotics unit raided the house only to find KopBuster's attorney waiting under a system of complex gadgetry and spy cameras that streamed online to the KopBuster's secret mobile office nearby.

The attorney was handcuffed and later released when eleven KopBuster detectives arrived with the media in tow to question the illegal raid. The police refused to give KopBusters the search warrant affidavit which is suspected to contain the lies regarding the probable cause.

The team of eleven freedom fighters wore red "Free Yolanda" shirts as they clashed with the police demanding answers for the illegal raid and the drug plant. The police would not comment but later stated they were trying to charge KopBusters with a crime.

It is not illegal to grow plants under a light in your home but it is illegal to lie on an affidavit and plant drugs on a citizen. This operation was the first of its kind in the history of America. Police sometimes have other police investigating their crimes but the American court system has never dealt with a group of citizens stinging the police. Will the police file charges on the team who took down the corrupt cops? We will keep you posted.

The Nation: Crazy Economic Theories

Here's a good piece reminding me why I don't swing left when it comes to the economy. Summarized: higher taxes, more unionization, "green" economics (also forcing our trading partners into "green" policies), and billions, if not trillions, of dollars of new spending we can't afford.

My favorite line in the article (get ready for this):

American workers shouldn't be forced by their employers to understate the number of hours worked or be locked in the warehouse so they can't leave on time. Workers often make only $2 and $3 an hour.

Guy should write for The Onion.

We better hope people like this don't get to make policy over the next 4 or 8 years. The only good that could come out of it is that whoever is President would be a one-timer. I'm sick of tired of all this massive spending that we can't afford and will most likely never be able to pay back, and the fact that these people put their full trust in the government to get this right. You all know the bad that would come out of policies like this: massive unemployment, increased protectionism, massive decrease in revenue for the government, and an all-around bad time for all of us.

Luckily it's The Nation which is, in itself, basically a joke.

I think JCM summed it up the best. Regardless of what happens and how this ultimately turns out, it will be interesting to watch.

Seeing as the Odessa police are refusing to turn over the warrant in question, they seem to realize they may have put themselves into big trouble.

I found out about this story via this Coyote Blog entry, which also talks about a story involving Maryland teens who create fake license plates on glossy photo paper using other people's plates, and then zoom through speed cameras.

Belmont quotes the timesonline:

The strikes on Gaza yesterday were unparalleled. Israeli warplanes screamed in from the sea across Gaza in wave after wave, pounding at least 30 security compounds in the strip controlled by the Hamas government.

At 11.30am Israeli time, the first wave of 60 F16s screamed low over Gaza, launching rockets at 50 targets. Israeli military sources said a total of 100 missiles were fired at Hamas police stations, command centers, training bases and illicit manufacturing warehouses.

In the second wave, 20 Israeli jets returned, following up intelligence received from drones in the skies over the Strip. They launched 50 missiles aimed almost entirely at militants who had come out with makeshift rockets to hit back.

Outstanding.

Show these savages what time on target really means.

Sixty armed F-16s coming out of the ocean to fire on targets, should sear something into the psyches of everyone in Gaza. Pity such a horror is necessary.

The left have to distort reality in order to sell their snake oil. Millions of private businesses across our nation function profitabliy and ethically without the unions. the unions are the way the socialist democrat party sneak socialism into the workplace. After all, unions are just a version of socialism.

It's the same reason the left cannot be honest about "Card check" - they call it "right to work" but it really is removal of the secret ballot so that union bosses can intimated their way into the door. The union business model destroyed GM and Chrystler by forcing all sorts of socialist crap in the door. like paying people to do nothing all day etc... The democrat party is in bed with the union business model because it will destroy America. Socialism and communism love a vacuum.

With all of the strict work rules and regulations, unions are unnecessary
They are a step backwards.

As King Hussein of Jordan taught it in 1970, that level of force was about 10,000 casualties. Might need a few more now.

I believe the increased quality of life that would results for the other 2,000,000 Gazans (or however many there are), would be more than sufficient compensation. As it is now, they're all damned for life.

"Supplier Integration" - genius! The democrat party and the union thugs surely hate that idea. It makes too much sense.

yep. the UAW business model -- Forcing efficiency to move overseas.
(and paying people to do nothing back at home)

Just remember that when the democrats whine about jobs moving over seas. chances are the democrat party and their unions had something to do with it.

union + democrat political power = we are screwed.

Guy should write for The Onion.

We better hope people like this don't get to make policy over the next 4 or 8 years. The only good that could come out of it is that whoever is President would be a one-timer. I'm sick of tired of all this massive spending that we can't afford and will most likely never be able to pay back, and the fact that these people put their full trust in the government to get this right. You all know the bad that would come out of policies like this: massive unemployment, increased protectionism, massive decrease in revenue for the government, and an all-around bad time for all of us.

Luckily it's The Nation which is, in itself, basically a joke.

What a weird article. Pages 1 and 2 seem to have been written by different people. Anyway, it appears that the writer hasn't figured out that globalization has changed the rules of the trade game forever.

Well he caught Henry smoking a joint one day and fired him.
He went on to Canned Heat that had a widespread documented drug problem. Alan' Blind owl ' Wilson was found dead in Laurel Canyon of a Heroin overdose. The history of the band was rife with tragedy

Of course, it's not exactly the case that all the problems were resolved, but they haven't much bothered Jordan again for over thirty years.

For times like these
Full Original Serenity Prayer
by Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

Conures can be really sweet birds.

I think so.
While visiting again today, the clerk let the little sun conure out, and he nibbled on my watch. Really great bird, but expensive. If he's there at the end of January, I might buy him.
I was so happy to see someone else there today visiting the lonely birds. She brought her own pet bird with her on her shoulder. She was interested in the in the shy black/multi-colored bird (with sad feathers) (a green cheek(?)) Anyway - she told me about his place:

The U.S. on Saturday blamed the militant group Hamas for breaking a cease-fire and attacking Israel, which retaliated with strikes of its own during what became the single bloodiest day of fighting in years.

This is for perhaps the last time that the U.S will be acting as Israel's friend in situations such as this for some years. If I will miss Bush for anything, then it will be for his support for Israel. The next four or more years we are going to be putting up with Obama's bullshit at home and abroad.

I've never been one to demand U.S assistance and aid. Israel managed to survive without any U.S assistance for 20 years before America started sending economic aid, and while the amount of aid Israel receives from the U.S is high, when you consider how little it receives from most other countries, it virtually balances the overall amount of aid it garners in comparison to other nations.

It certainly helps, though.

Alas, one of many places that vies for the title of Armpit of the World. You just don't hear much about the others.

A few years ago, Gaza was used in casual conversation to describe a place that was violent, lawless, and just plain awful. Ex: "Downtown LA looked like Gaza."

But in the past couple of decades, political correctness and a growing sympathy of the LLL with Pali terrorists has made that comparison less common, especially in newsprint and the like.

The Arab countries told them to get out, because they would destroy Israel. Gaza was just another Palestinian town until Egypt herded all the Pali's it told to run in there when those upstart Jooz whup their ass.

One great example:

APPEAL BY THE HAIFA WORKERS' COUNCIL
TO THE ARAB RESIDENTS OF HAIFA
TO THE WORKERS AND OFFICIALS

For years we have lived together in our city, Haifa, in security and in mutual understanding. Thanks to this, our city flourished and developed for the good of both Jewish and Arab residents, and thus did Haifa serve as an example to the other cities in Palestine. Hostile elements have been unable to reconcile themselves to this situation, and it has been these elements which have induced conflicts and undermined the relations between you and us. But the hand of justice has overcome them. Our city has been cleared of these elements who fled for their lives. Thus, once again, does order and security prevail in the city and the way has been opened for the restoration of cooperation and fraternity between the Jewish and Arab workers.

At this juncture we believe it necessary to state in the frankest terms: We are peace-loving people! There is no cause for the fear which others try to instill in you. There is no hatred in our hearts nor evil in our intentions towards peace-loving residents who, like us, are bent up work and creative effort.

Do not fear! Do not destroy your homes with your own hands; do not block off your sources of livelihood; and do not bring upon yourself tragedy by unnecessary evacuation and self-imposed burdens. By moving out you will be overtaken by poverty and humiliation. But in this city, yours and ours, Haifa, the gates are open for work, for life, and for peace for you and your families.

British report:

Haifa remains quiet. Yesterday produced a noticeable change in the general atmosphere and businesses and shops in the lower town were open for the first time in many days. Traffic started to move normally around the town and people returning to the places of business filled the streets. In fact, Haifa presented a more normal appearance than it had done for a long while. Some Arabs were seen moving among the Jews in the lower town and German Colony area and these were allowed free and unmolested passage. An appeal has been made to the Arabs by the Jews to reopen their shops and businesses in order to relieve the difficulties of feeding the Arab population. Evacuation was still going on yesterday and several trips were made by 'Z' craft to Acre. Roads too, were crowded with people leaving Haifa with all their belongings. At a meeting yesterday afternoon Arab leaders reiterated their determination to evacuate the entire Arab population and they have been given the loan of ten 3-ton military trucks as from this morning to assist the evacuation.

They are dangerous barbarians because they are forced to be dangerous barbarians by the elders of their society. They can't make that kind of distinction. When those toddlers in the pictures you mentioned were being strapped with suicide bombs, they probably had no idea what was going on.

There is an age when someone is no longer an innocent child, but it's far beyond the age of toddlers.

I do not think said children either capable of critical thought or irretrievably evil. I do however, view them as a danger in view of the environment in wich they are being raised. I'm not saying they should be killed (though in time we will need to kill some of them once they grow up). What I am saying is that we need to be aware of the dangers posed by people raised in such a way and keep them away from us.

The 'indoctrination' I am guilty of is that i am doing my best to instill in my children that they can accomplish any good they put their minds to. I teach them they are children of God. They should love all those around them for they are God's children also. I love them.

Night all. Going to play games with family. Prayers for Israel and any Palestinians who truly want a truly peaceful solution that doesn't include launching rockets or killing anyone.

Yeah, but France provided a lot of what Israel needed back then. That is, before that motherfucker DeGaulle decided to cast France's lot with the Arabs.

Hi Killgore-husband and I were watching the news from Israel. It was wicked. They had some photos of the spots in Shitistan that were it...the Israeli intelligence in this was kick-ass. Looks like the Egyptians gave their OK as well, and they have closed the Rafah terminal-they don't want a flood of Palistinians. But, there are a number of other cities that are under alert..from 10 to 45 seconds to get into shelters when they hear the red alert.

IAF Release Video Of Airstrike On Underground Rocket Launcher.

The Israeli Air Force has released footage from one of today's airstrikes on an underground rocket launcher.

The two captions in Hebrew that come into the video state the underground launcher, was between civilian homes. The second pointed out an exploding rocket as a result of the direct hit from the plane.

Civilian casualties could be decreased if Hamas wasn't using human shields.

And when I was in high school, I had a teacher who's father had been in the SS. He'd been Devil's Guard in Vietnam. She wasn't teaching us to hate America or to hate Jews, let alone teaching the religious wonders of murder-suicide.

Islam is pretty unique in that.

Ain't it the truth. It's a case study even the most skilled sociologists couldn't crack.

Completely. My wife went to a meeting with other 'expats' and they were talking about the subject of 'circumcision'. One of the 'ladies' piped up and said, "Some cultures do it to the females also...It's no big deal either way. I just wouldn't do it to any of my kids from now on."

So glad I wasn't there.

we were jumping off the top into a small pool and a little kid following me around told me about the grottos behind the falls...I asked where and he pointed to a spot so I swam out and ducked under the falls...the water just pounded me as I tried to find the caves...I could only see sunlight and blue water...I was running out of breath and started to panic...the water was pushing me this way and that and just at the end I popped up and my head cleared the rushing falls and I was in!...I pulled myself up on a small ledge and pondered my near death while the water gushed down in front of me...scared me to death really...I was flat out of air...I love Jamiaca!

Yeah, but France provided a lot of what Israel needed back then. That is, before that motherfucker DeGaulle decided to cast France's lot with the Arabs.

True, Israel did receive assistance from France in its early years and even earlier from some Iron Curtain countries...combined with the Arab boycott and the real lack of other countries with economic ties to it though (along with the regions almost complete isolation from any valuable natural resources). Israeli economic aid was not substantial or even greater in regards to aid other countries receive.

Out of all the land in the world and in the Middle East that God could have given to the Jews, he gives them the only one without any oil or special resources.

I am SO tired of watching this show

The Palis lob shitty missles indiscriminatly into Israel, caring not where they land
After time, the Israelis retaliate with their superior fire-power and intel
The "World" condemns Israel for disproportinate response.
Israel bends to the pressure and stops.
The Palis are thrilled if they kill or capture even ONE Israeli soldier/ civilian at the expense of "their" own (even though it is their doing that their own are dead)
REPEAT REPEATEDLY!

Hmm, had to Google the name, and you're right, he's one noxious little twit. I don't suppose it ever occurs to him to open a history book before he opens his fat pie hole. "Palestine" has never belonged to the "Palestinians."

It's not really surprising that there are people like Eric Margolis who care far more for emotion-laden sophistry than for intellectual rigor. What's disappointing is that major newspapers afford them columns to spit their ignorant poison.
