The Arab Street is Raging

Arab protesters are taking to the streets to demand action from the corrupt dictators and sheikhs and emirs who rule them: Arab protesters demand response to Gaza.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Protesters burned Israeli and American flags on Sunday in a string of Arab countries and demanded a stronger response from their leaders to Israel’s attack on Gaza.

Arab silence is behind the bombings,” read a banner held by one of several thousand people who turned out in the Sunni Arab city of Samarra north of Baghdad.

“Arab silence is behind the bombings”

That's what Hamas is crying about...

Palestinians: Arab World Conspiring Against Us

Hamas is accusing the Arab world of remaining silent about the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip, which has so far killed more than 270 Palestinians, sources in Gaza say.

Palestinian factions in Gaza are accusing Arab states of conspiring against the Palestinians and linked Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni's visit to Egypt on Thursday with Saturday's assault on Gaza.

'Umar Suleiman, Egypt's intelligence chief, informed several Arab states about the pending attack, which was intended to pressure Hamas into accepting a truce without preconditions, the London-based Al-Quds Al-'Arabi reported.

Hamas sources told the paper that Suleiman reassured Hamas on Friday that Israel would not attack, and Hamas therefore did not evacuate its security headquarters.

Hamas is accusing Egypt of deceiving its leaders and making Hamas fall into an Israeli trap.

Even before the operation began on Saturday, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum told The Media Line that Egypt and other Arab countries were being unhelpful.

"Until now, unfortunately, Arab formal decisions have failed to protect the Palestinians from the occupation attacks and failed to take a real resolution to lift the embargo," Barhoum said.

"There is no justification for the formal Arab countries to be silent about crimes committed in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem. The Arab people always support the Palestinian legitimacy and lifting the embargo but the formal Arab countries prevent them from directly contacting Palestinians in Gaza."

Hahahahahaha!

The self-hating, Saudi-financed, pro-terrorist J Street is also fuming:

STATEMENT BY Jeremy Ben-Ami, Executive Director, on Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza

While this morning's air strikes by Israeli Defense Forces in Gaza can be understood and even justified in the wake of recent rocket attacks, we believe that real friends of Israel recognize that escalating the conflict will prove counterproductive, igniting further anger in the region and damaging long-term prospects for peace and stability.

Respecting Israel's right to defend itself, we urge leaders there to recognize that there is no military solution to what is fundamentally a political conflict between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.

Today's IDF strikes will deepen the cycle of violence in the region.

Retaliation is inevitable, though we don't know how far the violence will spread or how many more Israelis and Palestinians will die and suffer in the days and weeks to come.

We call for immediate, strong diplomatic intervention by the United States, the Quartet and allies in the region to negotiate a resumption of the
ceasefire which dramatically reduced violence and preserved quiet for over five months.

The United States, the Quartet, and the world community must not wait -- as they did in the Israel-Lebanon crisis of 2006 -- for weeks to pass and hundreds or thousands more to die before intervening. There needs to be an urgent end to the new hostilities that brings a complete cessation to the
rocket fire out of Gaza and that allows food, fuel and other civilian necessities into Gaza.

The need for diplomatic engagement goes beyond a short-term ceasefire. Eight years of American neglect and ineffective diplomacy have led us directly to a moment when the prospects of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict hang in the balance and with them the prospects for Israel's long-term survival as a Jewish, democratic state...

Maybe some clever Lizards can come up with a better term than "Arab Street". Good start, AKAK. With some exceptions -maybe in Dubai- the real Arab Street is a filthy alley lined with flowing sewage and crowded with screaching morons either picking your pocket or itching for a confrontation at the drop of a hajib. I know the reference isn't literal, so please don't start calling me names, I just get the same picture every time I see the term 'Arab Street' printed and it just makes me want to wretch. Those of you who have had the 'pleasure' of visiting the region know what I mean.

Traitor MK Ahmad Tibi and the rest of those marching with Pali flags in Israel's streets should be stripped of their citizenship and packed off to Gaza.

BTW - Pali-liar Mustafa Barghouti said in an interview on Fox that 150 children in Gaza were killed. Major BS. Verbal Pallywood. Even al-Beeb had to admit that the majority of those killed were "militants" and the airstrikes were precise.

33 lostlakehiker  Sun, Dec 28, 2008 10:44:50am

They get funding from Iran and elsewhere. The funding is contingent on their continuing to attack Israel.

It's a job, making rockets in your home and shooting them off at Israel until you have a work accident or the Israelis bomb your factory or launcher and kill you.

It's a lousy job, but somebody in Gaza has to do it or the next shipment of rocket parts won't come. Gaza cannot feed its multitudes from its farms. It has no interest in agriculture, and it destroyed the greenhouses the Israelis left behind when they evacuated Gaza. The work of a proper Hamasite is breaking things, not growing them.

That's why the call their style of attack, Hamasite bombing.

He's not yet the President. What would you say if he commented with his opinion instead of just monitoring. The one President at a time concept sounds right to me, since doing otherwise would only mean to many cooks in the kitchen. The most he could do is state that and support Bush.

BINGO - you win. Saw a "tight" shot of a "Demonstration" in Lebanon - looked like no more than 2-3 Dozen People. From all I understand, the Lebanese are NOT in love with the "refugees" - having refused them citizenship for the last 60 years and more recently decimating one of their "camps" - so no surprise here.

I'm kinda surprised we haven't heard Shrillery mouthing the "Both sides must cease their violence. This is not acceptable. Blah Blah Blah." speech yet.

As for what BHO would/will do is anybody's guess. My guess is that he'll leave it to Shrillery and the Clinton admin has-beens/never-weres to do a tap dance with Mahmoud "the moderate" Abbas.
