Egypt Fires on Palestinians Breaking Through Border

Egyptian border guards have opened fire on Palestinians who broke through the Egyptian border to escape Israel’s attacks on Gaza.

An Egyptian security official said there were at least five breaches along the nine-mile border and hundreds of Palestinian residents were pouring in. At least 300 Egyptian border guards have been rushed to the area to reseal the border, the official added on condition on anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press.

A resident of the Gaza Strip side of the border, Fida Kishta, said that Egyptian border guards opened fire to drive back the Palestinians.

Residents have also commandeered a bulldozer to open new breaches.

Palestinians reported several people were wounded by the gunfire.

Israeli aircraft earlier bombed the border area in an apparent attempt to destroy cross border tunnels used to smuggle weapons and contraband into the Gaza Strip.

Egypt doesn't want to HELP the palis, they just want the Jews to vacate Israel, and give them "their" land back. One thing that often gets overlooked; If all of these Arab and Muslim countries were so compassionate for the plight of the poor palistinians, why don't they offer them solace and protection within their own countries?

Answer: They don't really care about the plight of the Palestinians, they just want a quick and convenient way to rile up their own population (the JOOOS are killing our poor Palestinian brothers! Rise Up!), and actually HELPING them doesn't achieve that.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 27 Dec. 28/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A prominent nationalIslamic civil rights and advocacy group today condemned Israeli Egyptianattacks on theGaza Strip that left more than 200 people dead and called the death toll a"massacre carried out using U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons." Ahem.
The Jerusalem Post had this report, earlier:
"IAF jets struck 40 smuggling tunnels connecting the Palestinian and Egyptian sides of Rafah, a Gaza Strip border town which has become a main entry point into Gaza of weapons, dynamite and other smuggled military equipment and consumer goods. According to reports, the bombing took a total of four minutes."
Doesn't look much like an 'apparent attempt' to me, especially taking into account that no foreign journalists are allowed into Gaza - and the people in Jerusalem might, just might, have perhaps access to some better sources.

there was another lizard in another thread who had the best suggestion - its going to be a ring of steel around gaza - cutting off the egypt border.. and with only the sea as an escape route.

artillery will be moved in , and an ultimatum served.

then the carpet bombing starts.

that sort of scenario would minimise IDF casualties, save for the offensive to take the southern border - which will be costly, no doubt about it.

It simply amazes me the way Israel is to solely to blame for the suffering that the Pallies bring on themselves. It is Israel who must open it's borders (and expose its people to the violence of these savages). It is Israel who must allow humanitarian supplies (and military contraband) to enter Gaza.

One never seems to hear about the Islamic "brothers" in Egypt who limit movement of these homicidal bastards in the same way. In fact, as this incident shows, often in more severe ways than the Israelis do.

73 mjbrutus  Sun, Dec 28, 2008 1:33:15pm

One other thought. We hear the term "collective punishment" an awful lot these days coming from the savages and their apologists to condemn Israel. We hear that the "innocent" are suffering on account of a few bad actors. Hamas was overwhelmingly ELECTED by the Pallies to represent them. The voters knew precisely what Ham-ass stood for and knew full well their goals and tactics.

Their hysterical cries are those of a wimp who kicks an MMA heavyweight in the kishkes, expecting to get sympathy after the inevitable beat down to follow. Sadly, there are many outside even the twisted hell-hole of the Islamic world who rush to shed tears for them.
