I think it's still a tad too soon to be picking a Republican to run against Obama in 2012. We still don't know how bad or good Obama will be, and while I'm betting on bad, we don't know where he will be the worst: domestic or foreign affairs, for example.
I do think Sarah Palin would give him a real run for his money - she will have been govenor of Alaska for SIX years, she is immensley popular among the Republican base, will be smarter about interviews and debates than she was the last time around AND she is a SHE.
I think there may be a sense, if Obama turns out to be as bad as I'm afraid he'll be, that now that we've broken the "racial glass ceiling" it's more than past time we broke the "gender glass ceiling".

The last time Israel gave land back, they had built a large greenhouse on that land that was raising a lot of food. The Palestinians went in and took anything of value and destroyed it. I believe the reason the Palestinian leaders want their people to hate Israel is so the leaders can stay in power. To be entirely fair to the Palestinians, though, which I do not care to be mostly, it's not as though they can take advantage of Jordan's Law of Return--they ain't got one. Jordan won't give non-Jordanian Palestinians citizenship, educational access, work, etc. So Jordan does the average West Bank Palestinian absolutely no good, regardless of how rational it might be to call them a "Palestinian state".

Thing about being an American is that you can come from anywhere and join the team if you wish. Bring all your cultural stuff with you, too, we'll swap if you have any recipes worth learning.

(Regarding the 'chosen people' concept problem--I spent some time in college reading endless articles arguing that this was a hideous exclusionary concept. (Hanging with the other theology people.) Then I got into a wonderful conversation with a friend, a sweet moonbatty woman, who was doing reading on a tribe in the Amazon jungle whose spiritual leaders taught that they had been appointed by their gods to teach the Western peoples how to save the earth.
