McKinney’s Hamas Rescue Fail

Wacko ex-Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney’s mission to rescue Hamas has ended in failure, and right on cue, she’s screaming about the brutality of the Israeli Navy. (Getting turned away by Israel was exactly what they were hoping for, of course.)

A boat carrying international peace activists, including former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, and medical supplies to the embattled Gaza Strip sailed back into a Lebanese port on Tuesday after being turned back and damaged by the Israeli navy, organizers of the trip said.

The boat, which set off from Cyprus Monday wanted to make a statement and deliver medical supplies to embattled Gaza. The trip’s organizers said the boat was clearly in international waters, 90 miles off the coast of Gaza, at the time of its close encounter with the Israeli navy.

“Our boat was rammed three times, twice in the front and one on the side,” McKinney told CNN Tuesday morning. “Our mission was a peaceful mission. Our mission was thwarted by the aggressiveness of the Israeli military.”

Yigal Palmor, a spokesman for Israel’s Foreign Ministry, denied there had been any shooting although the two ships had made “physical contact.”

Palmor said there was no response to a radio warning to the Dignity, and the vessel then tried to out-maneuver the Israeli patrol boat, leading to the collision.

This boatload of antisemitic morons should consider themselves lucky they weren’t sunk.

It does look like she was rammed, but I'd guess that it was by accident (on the part of the Israeli navy, not those on the boat) because the boat turned in front of a larger vessel.

Hey she had this comin, the woman has been living off of her looks for too long!

39 Ford_Prefect  Tue, Dec 30, 2008 8:54:42am

CNN.com's take on the incident:

The boat was carrying boxes of relief supplies, volunteers and journalists to Gaza, the Palestinian territory now subject to an intense Israeli bombing campaign.

Israel launched airstrikes against Gaza on Saturday in what Defense Minister Ehud Barak called an "all-out war" against the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which has ruled the territory since 2007.

The Palestinian death toll has topped 375, most of them Hamas militants, Palestinian medical sources said Tuesday. At least 60 civilians have been killed in Gaza, U.N. officials said.
advertisement

Hamas has responded with volleys of rocket fire aimed at southern Israeli towns, which have left six Israelis dead -- five of them civilians.

Note that the language used to describe Isreal's actions is much stronger than that used to describe Hamas's. Also they claim that Hamas's actions are in "response" to Isreal's. Could their bias be any more obvious?

It's interesting that the moonbats say they were "rammed" and that the Israeli navy says that the ships collided when the moonbats tried to maneuver around the naval vessel. And guess who's version made it into the headline?

McKinney relief boat hit by Israeli ship

(The original headline read "reportedly attacked," so the new version is less sensaltionalistic, but still misleading.)

And here's what Elder of Ziyon says about this:
"Just for context: The Free Gaza boat was supposed to have 3 tons of medical aid. During the past three days, Israel has sent 186 trucks filled with aid to Gaza - plus ten ambulances. Each truck, from past experience, holds between 10 and 20 tons of material.

Which means that for all the noise the FGM makes about how necessary their trip is to help Gazans, their "aid" equates to roughly 0.1% of what the hated, lying Zionist enemy has given while under direct attack from Gaza. Proving yet again that the off-key moonbats' purpose is not to help Gazans (they could coordinate sending aid through Israel, as Jordan does, or through Egypt, which sent 72 trucks of its own) but to hurt Israel through PR."

I think the most important objective for the Israeli military in preventing this boat from reaching Gaza is that it is carrying several journalists. Israel is doing all it can to prevent the world from knowing what it is doing to Gaza (not just "Hamas" as some of our sick friends like to insist, but the 1.5 million people, fathers and mothers, daughters and sons, who live in Gaza). Genocide is not pretty, and it would hurt Israel's image if more reporters were on the ground.

136 mijacat  Tue, Dec 30, 2008 9:13:43am

Rammed? Bull.

The piece of crap Congresswoman LooneyToon was in is a yacht. The design of a yacht is civilian, meaning it's made of lightweight materials, likely a fiberglass or other composite hull and wood or relatively lightweight (i.e. thin) metals for the "ribs", if there even are "ribs". (I've forgotten the correct term...)

The piece of military hardware the Israeli Navy was in is a warship, albeit a smaller one. The design of a warship is military, meaning it's made of tough materials, intended to shrug off small arms and direct contact with enemy hulls.

(whistles "one of these things is not like the other")

If one is living in a glass house, one does not pock with Mr. Bulldozer.

She's an idiot, the whole thing was a media stunt, and the only thing the Israelis should have done differently was to seize the yacht and dump the crew (in nice prison jumpsuits) in Jordan.

In other words, it was not a "ramming" but an accidental collision. A head-on ramming by the bows of a Navy boat would have sunk the moonboat. The damage would have reached below the waterline.

QED

I suspect that if the IDF had really desired to "ram" this boat for maximum damage, the boat would not now be on its way back to Lebanon.

My unit in Vietnam was chasing an NVA unit. We came into an area that had been abandoned by the NVA unit. It had well dog fox holes, with firing steps, and would had given our unit problems had they stayed and put up a fight. While searching the area, we found bloody clothing and NVA uniforms, food stores of rice, and empty medication bottles. The medication bottles had a nice little message on them.

DONATED TO THE PEOPLE OF NORTH VIETNAM

BY THE AMERICAN FRIENDS SERVICE COMMITTEE.

Sickening, absolutely sicking. The people you were protecting were using that protection to aid the enemy. At the same time the Friends Service Committee was claiming pacifist intentions. Those pacifists only help prolong the war, and kill people.

But in their holier than thou snobbery they never think of that.

Please, not that comparison. The Dunkirk flotilla was composed of brave people risking their lives in defense of freedom and against fascism. This is the opposite.

I liked Pat's idea but the "Dunkirkian" didn't sit well.

Perhaps a better military analogy would be Gallipolian where the plan met defeat before it got past its first stage.

Big job for MAACO though, ... might have to send out for a few hundred extra pounds of Bondo.

From the Shehag's URGENT EMAIL ALERT

From the Free Gaza Movement:

(This is the sixth boat that the Free Gaza movement has sent to Gaza ... in a symbolic effort to end the seige of Gaza. These are small boats, and they do not cross into Israeli waters at all. This Israeli attack on the boat, which occured in international waters, cannot be described as 'self defence' by any stretch of delusional imagination. CNN has report on this--it helps that one CNN reporter is on board-- : [Link: edition.cnn.com...] )

===
URGENT! Israeli Navy Attacking Civilian Mercy Ship! TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY!

The Dignity, a Free Gaza boat on a mission of mercy to besieged Gaza, is being attacked by the Israeli Navy in international waters. The Dignity has been surrounded by at least half-a-dozen Israeli warships. They are firing live ammunition around the Dignity, and one of the warships has rammed the civilian craft causing an unknown amount of damage. Contrary to international maritime law, the Israelis are actively preventing the Dignity from approaching Gaza or finding safe haven in either Egypt or Lebanon. Instead, the Israeli navy is demanding that the Dignity return to Cyprus - despite the fact that the ship does not carry enough fuel to do so. Fortunately, no one aboard the ship has yet been seriously injured.

There are 15 civilian passengers representing 11 different countries (see below for a complete list). At approximately 5am (UST), well out in international waters, Israeli warships began surrounding the Dignity, threatening the ship. At 6:45am (UST) we were able to establish brief contact with the crew and were told that the ship had been rammed by the Israeli Navy in international waters, and that the Israelis were preventing the ship from finding safe harbor. We heard heavy gunfire in the background before all contact was lost with the Dignity.

It is urgent that you TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION!

You're right. I think most warships have a bulb under the bow which would have punctured the hull of the Moonbat.
They probably had a helmsidiot who thought a boat can turn on a dime.

They don't think it through. Even if, as in Dusty's case the supplies don't directly aid the enemy troops. One pound of flour in a the hands of civilians in an enemy country is one pound of flour more for the enemy troops.

Second they don't understand, the best way to save lives in a war is maximum violence, all out war and end it quickly.

"After the boat did not answer the radio, it sharply veered and the two vessels collided, causing only light damage," Palmor said.

The Israeli spokesman accused the international activists of "seeking provocation more than ever."

I agree with MarineGrunt

Israel navy should have removed all passengers on that boat, stick an Israeli flag on the stern, tie the rudder and head the boat to gaza at slow speed, and let the moonbats see the results

Now. Do you think that McKinney & her people would have bothered to talk to Israeli officials first, to see if they'd let them pass, to bring medical aid?

Well, no. Besides. McKinney & her people were only doing it because they hate Israel's reasoning to exist. Anyone that does such a thing, is only doing it to help their own cause. Not to really help any innocents.

Well. let's look at the (apparent) record of the good ship Dignity;

1. Fails to respond to repeated radio warnings and challenges while attempting to enter a legal Maritime Exclusion zone offshore of an active warzone. Under maritime law and naval ROE, this technically immediately upgrades you from "unidentified contact" to "valid target".

2. Claims to have been repeatedly fired upon by naval vessels. More likely, there were repeated warning shots, probably from small arms, to get their attention (since they obviously weren't paying attention to their radio). Again going back to maritime law and ROE, only one warning shot is required to satisfy legal restrictions; after that, you are assumed to be deliberately ignoring the warning, and are (again) a valid target.

3. Claims to have been rammed repeatedly. An Israeli Hetz or Reshef class patrol craft displaces upwards of 450 tons, is about 190 feet long, and is mostly steel. The Dignity is 65 feet long, mostly fiberglass, and probably is under 30 tons. A deliberate ram by the Israeli vessel would have had about the same result on the Dignity that the IJN destroyer Amagiri had on John F. Kennedy's PT-109 in the Blackett Strait. Instead, the damage is consistent with the Israeli statement that the Dignity's helmsman attempted to "shoulder aside" the Israeli vessel while the latter was motionless. Any appreciable forward speed by the Israeli ship would have resulted in the Dignity being cut in two, due to simple physics. The logical conclusion is that Dignity's commander and/or helmsman not only doesn't have a basic knowledge of maritime law, they also must have flunked physics in high school.

It all boils down to this; McKinney is, as stated above, a liar. Then again, she may simply be living in her own fantasy world. Which, for her, would be business as usual.

cheers

How can they get it so completely wrong?

1. They believe they are perfect. (The product of meaningless "self-esteem" strokings in school.)

2. They believe that the world should be run by those are superior, as they perceive themselves to be. (This is why they prefer authoritarian governments, especially those based on socialist principles).

3. Since the rest of us repeatedly refuse to give them absolute power over us, they conclude that we are all stupid and/or evil.

4. It is, therefore, their "holy mission", to reform the world (i.e., make it obey them) and punish the rest of us for our "unrighteousness".

Note that at no point in this mental process do they ever consider the possibility that they might be wrong about something. Because both their dogma, and their own colossal, narcissistic egos, tell them that they are absolutely incapable of error.

This is why I long ago gave up trying to reason with moonbats. It's very much like trying to talk a drug addict into detoxing while they're high. They simply won't listen to anything they don't want to hear, and being stoned (or eternally indignant about everything) makes them feel far more important, vital, attractive, powerful, etc., than they really are, or ever have any hope of being.

Lets not forget that the captain of the Moonbat supposedly has a Masters license from Britain.

Aside from failing to maintain a listening watch on the radio, a lookout, avoiding a collision with a less maneuverable vessel, colliding with a stationary vessel, entering a published maritime exclusion (war) zone, and having the ugliest passenger ever to float on the ocean, how many other violations would be worth yanking his ticket?

Rather than pull the passengers off and send the boat to Gaza, how about handcuffing them and sending the boat? After all, it's all humanitarian supplies, right?

BTW, how is it that Israel has been able to be attacked with 200 rockets a day for years, but there is no food or medicine?

Overkill. That tub-o-shit would be completely taken out with one hit from a simple RPG-7.

10 or so rounds of .50BMG would do it too.

re: #244 Spiritualized

Aren't there any rich Israel supporters that could fund an anti-Moonbat boat? Or simply block them from leaving Cyprus?

All I see is this endless parade of morons in their little jihad dinghies.

Anything a pro-Israel boat could do (against the moonbats) would be illegal under international law...

Which only matters to the righteous.

McKinney and her ilk -
What happened to them in their lives that has kept them from appreciating this country and the privilege of their citizenship, and keeps them from recognizing that Israel is one of only a handful of countries in the world which have a similar level of freedom, productivity, and privilege?

How can they get it so completely wrong?

Because they have had it entirely too easy in their lives, never had to worry about where their next meal comes from (especially wrt Rosanne), never had to worry about their safety, their health, their physical security. You don't see Somalis, Rwandans or Sudanese on those boats, do you?

I doubt they ever will.

She sure dodged the question about the captain of the divinity trying to wiggle past the blockade, typical of course.
She can cry about how aggressive the Israeli Navy was all she wants, But they showed restraint in not sending her and the rest of the moonbats to a watery grave.

284 Miss Molly  Tue, Dec 30, 2008 11:52:17am

So now Cynthia has gotten the boat wrecked as well. Who gets to pay for the repair of that boat? Where did Cynthia get all the money for medical supplies, boat, etc to put on this show? I'm sure someone gave her the money. I would just like to know who that person or organizatiion was. And would they chip in a little more money to send Cynthia to an inexpensive beauty salon.

Just remember, Cindy, "God don't like ugly." And I'm not talking about your appearance, which is ugly enough.

294 dave fitz  Tue, Dec 30, 2008 12:39:08pm

Ok, I just checked Roseanne's blog as linked by Irish Rose (#248)upthread.

Why are we still trying to reason with these people? The whole blog reads like the disconnected ravings of a paranoid schizophrenic with a severe Thorazine deficiency. It's all just shriekingly mad crap.

I think what we should do every time a major incident occurs is to save screenshots of RosyCrazy's blog and similar items and send them to Rush or similar friendly voices as examples of how the L-3 actually think. If we can't reason with the Friends of Hamas and other nutcases, let's at least show the undecided vast majority just what kind of brainstatic they'll be siding with if they go that way.

#253 by eon gets it exactly right- this is not a political battle we are fighting; it is a learned sickness, a twisted vision. No amount of logic will break those megalomaniacal delusions of adequacy. The right response should be mockery, derision and ridicule.

McKinneys' good friend and wannabe shipmate Rosanne Barr is having a meltdown on her blog.

What is it with the Jews in this country who betray their own people?

Seriously, I don't think Roseanne is typical of anyone.

Woman's got mental problems. Giant ego and lots of money are preventing her from getting help. End of story.

296 SanFranciscoZionist  Tue, Dec 30, 2008 1:06:50pm

So now they're in Lebanon? I imagine they'll hand the supplies over to a, er, local charitable organization, leave the boat for repairs, and fly out commercial. Hope everyone has passports with them.

Aiyaaah.

Well, the Huff & Puffers are saying what a heroine she is. How brave, how caring.

I read the list of some of the people aboard and some were peace activists who wanted to monitor the situation! How in the world can that be considered bringing aid to the suffering? These people were trying to make a big show and have people feel sorry for them. They were not trying to get to Gaza for humanitarian aid. No, they are just looking for more ways to show the world how evilll the USA is. They are no help to anyone.

299 David IV of Georgia  Tue, Dec 30, 2008 1:38:27pm

Aiding enemies is never "a peaceful mission" unless it is in accord with international agreements such as Red Cross and Red Crescent have.

A Yacht? What did she expect? It's like taking a knife to a gun fight. In this case it's a war with missiles and rockets . Some folks have no common sense.

Reminds me of the time in my youth when I threw a rock into a big Yellow Jacket nest. And no I didn't blame the Yellow Jackets for stinging me. :)

Dear Israel,

Next time, please open fire. I don't say that because I think that Cynthia McKinney is a nutcase and an all around horrible human being, but because these external protesters create a danger to Israel. It is much the same way as in "The Great Escape" when the Allied forces who were in prison camps were trying to create a third front of war for Germany to engage in. In the same way, these protesters create a separate front for Israel and distract the Israeli forces from the terrorists.

Furthermore, those from the United States who engage in trying to help terrorist organizations like Hamas or Hezb'allah should either be jailed upon their return to the United States or have their citizenship revoked.

302 Caboose  Tue, Dec 30, 2008 2:52:49pm

That is all and HAPPY HUNTING!

So the question is still unanswered, did they even bother to coordinate this relief effort with Red Cross and Red Crescent... I believe this group thought they could just cruise right into the Gaza port with no clearance, in an active war zone...for a volunteer medical mission?
She and her FreeGaza group are most fortunate they were not blown out of the water!

1 When you want to get aid to the wounded, you do so through Israel: This was a publicity stunt. It was nothing else.

2 India has plenty of "guts". And they are intelligent enough to recognize a staged production by Al-Quaida designed to engineer a military distraction that would force Pakistan to withdraw troops away from hunting Al-Quaida in Pakistan in order to fight with India over something Al-Quaida actually did.

3 Nobody was fooled by McKinney, except you.

311 Hindu Infidel  Tue, Dec 30, 2008 7:59:02pm

Quite a bit bitter are we?

1. Are you serious? Send aid through Israel which had blocked all humanitarian aid for quite a while. I agree with going after Hamas but blocking humanitarian aid - thats inhuman.

2. Hah, the pakis got you fooled again. Do you really think they are serious about fighting their own creation - the taliban. You really must have loaded up on that factsheet from Nigeria saying that terrorism begins and ends with Al Qaida

3. Agreed, I could have been fooled by this stunt. I posted before digging deeper into the news

4. Well, I guess we should give billions more to Paki so that they could fight "Al Qaida" and "Taliba" Arent they our major non-NATO ally

5. Agreed. Piece of advice for you - dont trust all your non-NATO allies

6. No freaking idea

Because they had no intention of delivering any aid to the Palestinians or they would've gone through Egypt instead of broadcasting that they were going to "defy" the Israeli Naval blockade.

Israel has been giving medical aid to the Palestinians (see comment #70).

A bit of research into the bills this former Congresswoman tried to get passed in Congress and the idiotic statements she has made over the years easily confirms that 1. She is indeed a moron, and 2. She is rabidly anti-semitic.

A Hamas victory would allow Iran to have a proxy on Israel's southern border. That is not acceptable to Israel, so it has to prevail over Hamas. The blockade is part of Israel's response to Hamas' rocket fire.

323 sfcmac  Fri, Jan 2, 2009 10:37:20am

Too bad the Israelis didn't let the crazy bitch into Gaza, then simply dropped some rockets on the location.
