Saudi FM criticizes Palestinians

Saudi Arabia's foreign minister on Wednesday blamed Palestinian divisions for Israel's onslaught on Gaza, a reflection of U.S.-allied Arab governments' anger at the Hamas militant group.

Saud al-Faisal made the comments at an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers in the Egyptian capital, convened to try to put together a joint response by the deeply divided Arab nations to the Israeli offensive, which has killed more than 370 Palestinians and sparked outrage across the Middle East.

This may be old news, but in response to anyone who claims the Palestinians are firing "home-made" rockets with no explosive heads, they are in fact using antipersonnel munitions, made in China:

The army official said the rocket that struck the school in Beersheba was manufactured in China, is heavier than the Qassam and can "potentially cause much greater damage." He said the rocket contains metal pallets that can spread out across a radius of up to 100 meters (about 328 feet) from the point of impact.

Lucky Charms

The first boxes of Lucky Charms cereal contained marshmallows in the shapes of pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, and green clovers. The lineup has changed occasionally over the years, beginning with the introduction of blue diamonds in 1975. Purple horseshoes joined the roster in 1984, followed by red balloons in 1989, rainbows in 1992, pots of gold in 1994, leprechaun hats in 1996, shooting stars in 1998, and hourglass in 2008.

Ask 'em to stock the machine with Ammo. 34X the caffeine concentration of Mtn. Dew.

A 1 ounce bottle of Ammo contains 171 milligrams of caffeine:

Ammo is an energy shot that comes in three flavors: Fruit Punch, Citrus, and Blue Raspberry.

The drink should be diluted into 16 ounces of liquid. As for downing the bottle in one hit, the manufacturers claim they "do not support or recommend it" although it is safe to drink.

Burris has resume on mausoleum.

There, Burris, whom embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich appointed to succeed President-elect Barack Obama in the Senate on Tuesday, has erected a granite mausoleum listing his many accomplishments.

Under the seal of the state of Illinois and the words "Trail Blazer," Burris, 71, has listed his many firsts in granite, including being the state's first African-American attorney general and the state's first African-American comptroller.

The memorial also notes that Burris was the first African-American exchange student to Hamburg University in Germany from Southern Illinois University in 1959.

There appears to be enough room to add "U.S. senator" to the memorial, but Burris may never get a chance to serve in Washington.

He can also add first African-American appointed Senator by an Impeached Governor.

Now that I no longer work for them, I can tell you all, I was the financial controller of Sequoia Voting Systems for four years. If you recall, the Venezuelan ownership of the company was the subject of a thread here a while back.
I reference that to tell you about the contracts that Sequoia had with the city of Chicago and Cook County, together worth about 55 million bucks.
I cut checks to more hangers on, do-nothing worthless pieces of shit, because that's what Sequoia had to do get the contracts. I'm damn glad to be done with that company and its willingness to buy off whoever had their hands out in that wonderful city known as Chicago.

I share that sentiment. Boston really is a haven for moonbats and corrupt politicians. It really is a city that wants to be New York or Chicago and can never be due to its size. The inhabitants do talk funny. But it is still the same "big city" that I thought was the biggest place in the world when my family made the yearly trip to Boston from New Hampshire when I was a kid.

It really is a beautiful town IMHO. I hate having it be the punchline that it so deserves to be.

Considering how many Minnesota votes went for Obama, it's an indication of Franken's lack of support that the vote is as close as it is. If the Secretary of State wasn't helped into his seat by Acorn & Soros, we wouldn't be in this mess. I figure we'll find out what really happened in about 20 years...

I wish there was some way of clipping Soror's ability to finance this crap. He has done more to hurt this country than anyone I can think of. This, dispite the fact that he made his money precisely because of what opportunities this country provided his poor orphaned ass.

That's certainly true. I'm tired of them playing Mr. Nice Guy. They need to take off the gloves and hit back. There is certainly enough fodder for them to aim at.

The ONLY way I'd ever consider giving them another freakin' dime is after the entire Hamas leadership is dead/out of commission permanently, and the money would come in the form of checks cut to the various construction agencies which would be retained by me based on experience and cost.

when i listen to talk radio i can immediately tell the libs , who call in, by their voices. after just a few words.
they are petulant, bitchy, shrill. and that's the men.
they don't inspire confidence when they try to defend their positions.
weak voices. bitter. and angry.
i imagine they all look something like bill ayers and walk like the guy who subway muggers would cull from the herd. (weak body language)
they'd give up their money so quickly.
and lash out later at a safe target. pres. bush or someone.
lib men are pathetic. and sneaky.

Strange isn't it how they do seem to fit that pattern. I thought it was my imagination and perception of them until I retired from the Army and really stated to look at them. None of them leftists ever look like John Wayne instead all seeming to fall into the Marcos Moulitsas clone look.

Baghdad Bob, per Wiki:
Although questioned by American authorities, al-Sahhaf was released, and there has been no suggestion of charging or detaining him for his role in the Saddam Hussein government. He is now living in the United Arab Emirates with his family./em>

They are missing the ski masks, dynamite sticks, molotov cocktails and kalashnikovs for the IRA leprechauns.

"They're always after me Lucky Charms! What? Why do ye always laugh when I say that?"

Drive by post, busy day for me today.
I just watched today's MacNeil/Lehrer News Hour, and they used the very same IDF footage featured on an earlier thread today, the ones of the IDF blowing the tunnels, followed by secondary explosions.

HOWEVER, I noted that in every case (repeat in EVERY) case PBS cut away from the footage before the secondary explosions (which we all noted were often bigger than the first explosion) detonated.

But PBS did have some handy footage of foodstuffs being transported through the tunnels.

I find this abhorrent and an abrogation of even the most basic type of journalistic standards. I have written to them to let them know. I suggest we all do the same. PBS.org.

You know, much as I support Jerusalem in their endeavors, I really think that they need a much better spokesman department.

All sorts of possible replies are running through my head since last night when they rejected the French proposal for a cease-fire. Something along the lines of:

"We appreciate the concern that the French have for peace in the Middle East, and their pursual thereof. However, we would like to take this opportunity to remind the French that they would not have considered this an acceptable option on D-Day. And, as such, they are being the most inconsiderate fuckwits for even presenting such a stupid and insulting offer. We would further like to remind the Quartet that they did not think that bombing an entire nation into ruin was too high a price to pay for the elimination of Nazism on their doorstep - a goal, I might add, that we are now trying to enforce as well. We have no doubt that the modern French would very well have considered a possible truce with Adolph Hitler thanks to their nuanced modernity, but that we savage and barbaric Israelis have a few decades to catch up with these new notions of fairness. Until we do, please do not be alarmed that we are merely following in your footsteps. You are, after all, the ones who defined the path we are treading on.

We will use the term "Unconditional Surrender" as freely as did the Allies over sixty years ago, and we will do anything it takes to achieve this goal. Please understand, it is not we who are spitting in the faces of the French, but history itself. After all, such a hypocritical stance could have only come from the most self-important assholes with their heads up their ass."

What a piece of shit...

US Prof. to Iran: Let me prosecute Israel

A US professor has offered the Iranian President a plan according to which he would open a legal case against Israel.

Francis Anthony Boyle, a professor of international law at the University of Illinois told Fars news agency on Wednesday that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had received his plan for filing a lawsuit against Israel.

According to US professor, 1.5 million Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip are subjected to gradual genocide which is supported by the US and the EU and this would provide him with a legal basis for his case.

Iranian Judiciary Spokesman Alireza Jamshidi on Tuesday announced that Tehran had set up a tribunal to bring the perpetrators of the Gaza offensive to justice.

"Under Articles 8 and 146 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, all countries are legally entitled to launch an investigation into the crimes committed by Israel in Gaza because Israel has jeopardized peace and committed genocide in the coastal region," Jamshidi said.

Yeah. You really have to wonder what would have happened if Obama hadn't had the entire MSM in the tank for him. While I'm as upset as anyone that BHO got elected, in some ways you have to be amazed that it was as close as it was. Obama had the edge in fundraising by an order of magnitude, and a free ride from the MSM. About the only person in the Donk Party that didn't fall to their knees before the New Messiah was Hillary Clinton.

I still can't understand why she took the Sec State position. that looks like a mistake to me.

Is she a lock-in for that position? Or is there a chance that seven page document meant for vetting, can screw things up? I mean, Bills skirts are not real clean for dear wife to take a position that so obviously conflicts with moneys he has taken over the last few years.

Because the leaders of Israel have adopted the ghetto mentality that the founders of the state hoped to lay to rest, on a worldwide scale. They are so poleaxed by the fact that the world does not accept them as being just another country, but still looks at them as mere Jews, that they are completely flummoxed and willing to go almost anywhere, and kiss almost any ass, to be accepted.

Agreed, but not all. Netanyahu certainly doesn't think that way. Why doesn't he slap them around and shout at them a bit and tell them the world has changed already? I was going more along the Machiavellian lines of waiting until her Senatorial replacement had been confirmed then the Obama team would inform her she was unqualified to assume the Sec State position due to the seven page vetting document based on Bills antics.

This would remove her from the Obama administration all together. She would not be a Senator, thus removing her platform to launch a 2012 Presidential campaign. She would effectively be defanged.

PBS.org.

And we all know what'll happen: absolutely nothing, because the left-wing useful idiots at PBS and the rest of the MSM know exactly what they're doing by demonizing Israel and lionizing the Gazans (I refuse to use the P-word to describe them). I'm certainly not gonna give any of the MSM Fifth Columnists any indication of their perceived propaganda success...

Well I do think it's a shame that the Cuban people (those that remain, that is) have had to live under communism for so long. BUT - Eastern Europe freed itself from the yoke of Communism and, indeed, so has Russia, the Ukraine, etc.
When the Cuban People have had enough of communism, they'll follow the lead of the Eastern Europeans and make themselves free.
We've had an embargo on Cuba for most if not all of those 50 years, have done our best to isolate them from the rest of the world and the Cuban People didn't seem to care - or at least not enough to overthrow Fidel.
Maybe next year.

tehran has set up a tribunal to bring the 'perps' to justice?
come and get them, assholes.

According to a Marine Pilot:

In addition to communicating with the local Air Traffic Control
facility,
all aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian
Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute 'heads up' if they will be
transiting Iranian airspace.

This is a common procedure for commercial aircraft and involves giving them your call sign, transponder code, type aircraft, and points of origin and destination.

I just flew with a guy who overheard this conversation on the VHF
Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai.
It's too good not to pass along. The conversation went something
like this...

Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft at (location unknown), you are in
Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'

Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not
depart our
airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em
up, I'll wait!'

Air Defense Radar: (no response ... total silence)

They really didn't, with apologies to Lech Walesa

re: #549 buzzsawmonkey

I watched the Kos video, and the song at the end says that peace will come "when the refugees return to Tel Aviv."

Tel Aviv, of course, was founded and built by Jewish Zionists on an empty beach. Let it never be forgotten that the Leftists, just as much as the Arabs, consider every single piece of Jewish presence in the Land of Israel to be a "settlement" that must be extirpated.

Damn them all.

I too watched most of the video, and I too found it very disturbing, however I do not share your sweeping conclusions.
In my view, these particular leftist moonbats who organized and led the SF demonstration may be Leftists but they are Antisemites and pro-Arabs first, and we know from history that Antisemitism and pan-Arabism trumps leftism, rightism or any other ism.

Ironically, the Zionist movement was organized and implemented by leftist Jews. The early twentieth century settlers, the kibbutz movement and the Labour Party may all be fairly characterized as Leftists.

What evidence is there which would allow one to jump to the conclusion that all or even the majority of American leftists are anti-semitic or favour the destruction of the State of Israel? Can one fairly conclude that those depicted in the video are representative of all or most leftists in America?

I would like to think not.

SF Holocaust memorial vandalized

Police are looking for a man who they say spray-painted graffiti on San Francisco's Holocaust memorial.

Witnesses say they saw a man on Monday spraying red paint on the memorial, located near the city's scenic Legion of Honor museum.

Police say the tagger wore a white bandanna, carried a black messenger bag and fled in a car waiting nearby. Police did not describe the content of the graffiti, which city officials said was removed Tuesday.

City director of cultural affairs, Luis Cancel, said removing the graffiti costs between $6,000 and $8,000.

Cancel said the graffiti made reference to Israel, but did not know exactly what had been written.

The incident was at least the second time in recent months that the display of 11 life-sized figures was vandalized. Earlier this year, swastikas were drawn on the bronze sculpture using a black marker, and a swastika was scratched into a plaque near the statues.

Mayor Gavin Newsom issued a statement condemning the vandalism.

Casey Luskin Wrote:

“Bicycles have two wheels. Unicycles, having only one wheel, are missing an obvious component found on bicycles. Does this imply that you can remove one wheel from a bicycle and it will still function? Of course not. Try removing a wheel from a bike and you’ll quickly see that it requires two wheels to function. The fact that a unicycle lacks certain components of a bicycle does not mean that the bicycle is therefore not irreducibly complex.”

When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be Dean Martin.

Cocktail in one hand, a cig in the other, babes hanging around all over the place...

Such a role model.

I would have loved to go out with Dean Martin. Not have a relationship, mind, just go out to dinner with dancing later. Talk about charm!

I've always viewed the origins of Zionism as hyper-rational and pragmatic, with only small appeals to religion or even tradition, as much a response to anti-semitism as any kind of thing in itself.

Other leftists, as such, I'd hate to think necessarily are anti-semitic in particular, as much as anti-religious generally, and as "The Jewish State" that puts them against Israel, more like the modern left tends to romanticize the primitive and hate any kind of power - other than its own, of course.

re: #795 buzzsawmonkey

Rocky Horror was an easy way for people not qui-i-i-i-i-ite into the sexual madness of the 70s to flirt with it in safe pantomime. Though I did know someone who could certainly not be accused of celibacy who was a huge devotee of the film.

It was interesting that while some of the dress-up brigade would cross-dress, very, very few of the boys would dress as Franknfurter; they would either go for a male character or a female one. The bisexuality of the Franknfurter character was apparently more threatening than the wholesale pretend of straight-out drag.

gosh, had I known any of this I may have been tempted to see the movie!...

NOT!

I'm not sure why you feel that that is exculpatory. At the end of the day, they want to snuff people in wholesale carload lots for having the temerity to disagree with them on anything more than trivial matters. was Hitler really worse than Stalin? Was Stalin worse than Hitler?

Where does Idi Amin fall on that scale?

Hey, I'm not exculping anybody, just saying there are some flavors of left-ism that I don't think come with any commitment to antisemitism.

The wretched like Hitler, Stalin, or Idi Amin are horror shows before they are left, right, or center.

re: #810 buzzsawmonkey

Zionism was wholly impractical when it was conceived; the idea that this scattered people might recombine as an independent nation was considered madness by the more assimilated, and gross blasphemy by the more religious. The one seeming shred of rationality was the notion that maybe reconstituting as a nation would erase the roots of antisemitism--but events have certainly disproven that.

The people who pioneered the modern State had no experience in agriculture, and moved to the inhospitable land to begin agricultural settlements. Their initial attempts failed miserably, and for many years they existed on donations from those who had not gone to build the land. Though the early Zionists tried to break with tradition, having grown up in a far more Orthodox milieu than exists today in all but a few enclaves, they were actually far more actively Jewish, despite their irreligion, than many Jews today.

Yes, but what I'm talking about is Enlightenment rationality, as much a secular flight from religion as any kind of realization. And the Zionists weren't clear if they were going to see a nation until centuries had passed, if ever. Only the first world war and the passage of the land from the Ottomans to the British, and then the horrors of the holocaust, caused Israel to become a nation when it did. By your own arguments, it was certainly not the most religious groups who sponsored Zionism.

A book I read a year or three ago, "One Palestine, Complete", told the story pretty well.
