Is CNN Going to Ignore a Staged Video?

Media • Views: 4,337

I just did a spot for PJTV on that staged video from a Gaza hospital, and some questions that came up:

Why hasn’t CNN made any kind of statement about this? They yanked the video from the page where it was posted, so obviously they know there’s a problem. Are they just hoping the whole thing will blow over, and counting on the rest of the media to let it?

Whatever happened to the idea that news organizations should correct, admit, and take responsibility for errors? Is CNN more worried about the political fallout, or the loss of access to Gaza, than they are about their credibility?

Again, here’s the page where the video was posted; there’s no explanation or retraction for promoting what is almost certainly pure Hamas propaganda: Toll of conflict strikes home as cameraman finds brother dead - CNN.com.

They may have removed the video player from their page, but the video itself still resides on a CNN server, and I saved the link. Here’s the video, playing from a publicly available URL on a CNN server:

FLV Video

UPDATE at 1/9/09 3:05:27 pm:

The Daily Kos Kiddies jump up to defend this propaganda, even after CNN has pulled the video offline (gotta love it): Daily Kos: LGF, Michelle Malkin ran a story on a ‘faked video’.

My question to you is, how callous do these people have to be to assume that the boy is not dead and claim that the video is a forgery? Even if the video was staged after the fact, how could they be sure that the boy was not actually dead?

I never claimed the boy wasn’t dead. I don’t think there’s clear evidence on that either way; but in the original post LGF reader “Last Mohican” argued that there wouldn’t have been any reason to fake the CPR compression in such a delicate way if he were actually dead. That has since been confirmed to me both at LGF and in half a dozen emails from doctors and EMT folks, some going into great detail—and that is far from the only thing wrong with the scene.

If the boy was actually killed, that’s a terrible thing and I certainly don’t enjoy seeing children die.

But if Mahmoud really was a victim of the violence in Gaza, it’s despicable (not to mention highly unethical) to pose and stage a scene with his body like this. Ghoulish. Obscene. The kind of thing terrorists do.

A point that never occurs to the Daily Kos hivemind.

CNN busted running phony Gaza propaganda, doesn't fess up

Down the memory hole goes fake video run by CNN to tug on viewers' heartstrings, following its debunking by clear-headed observers. The "most trusted name in news" lacks the integrity to fess up for channeling Palestinian propaganda, though.

The network was caught running an obviously faked video of a Gaza Palestinian supposedly being treated in the wake of an Israeli attack, supposedly recorded by a camera man who was his brother. The problem was that the "doctor" who playing the role of an emergency room physician administering CPR had not a clue what the real thing looks like. Little Green Footballs exposed the fraud, so CNN pulled the video from its website without explanation.

CNN regrets that a video was inadvertently posted on its website. The video had been thoroughly vetted, and earlier discredited. A technical difficulty resulted in the inclusion of this video.

They had lost their credibility before this, and nothing happened. It is now at the point where the MSM have turned into propaganda machines entirely. I doubt they really care that they were "found out". They got the message out they wanted to. Now they can deny and obfuscate when called on it, but is anything going to happen to them? Get arrested? No. Lose jobs? Only the peons, so who cares. Be shut down? Of course not.

Since almost 100% of the media is already in the tank for the Palis, why should CNN really care?

Knowingly present a staged "death" and then play it up? That is not only dishonest, it's borders on illegal. It tells me where their sympathies lay.

I think it's entirely possible that the video was staged in some way, and that if that's the case then CNN fell for it because they let bias trump scrutiny (thus the video's disappearance upon more-skeptical scrutiny, it seems). But I've not seen anyone assert the network knowingly presented a fake death.

I don't think it rises to the level of Rathergate, but it certainly doesn't help their credibility.

Lee. No this is actually WORSE. CBS News, after intially denying it (because they couldn't believe some unwashed masses like us could actually be right and actually upstage Dan Rather's 'Journalistic Knights") did the right thing and retracted the piece and apologized ON AIR, however uncontrite Dan Rather was.

CNN HOWEVER KNOWS THEY'VE BEEN CAUGHT RED-HANDED IN A LIE AND ARE TRYING TO COVER IT UP.

If this tape was subpoenaed evidence and they were caught doctoring it before handing it in to a judge, they'd be arrested for obstruction of justice.

The coverup is worse than the crime, always.

If the video is a fake -- and while we can't be sure, it does seem so -- I hope CNN comes away from this more skeptical of Palestinian agitprop. And if I had my way they'd go back and research the story fully then report their findings. But I won't bate my breath.

Cog, the part I asked you about yesterday still stands. What Killgore was able to identify is a massive part in all of this.

You can't tell me, they do not have some inclination that Ashraf Mashharawi just might possibly be a less than credible source?

Again, I have tried to always be thoughtful, and respectful with most everyone here.

This is out and out propaganda. Call it what it is. No different than omitting things for Saddam, or showing terrorist sniper porn, they are being an accomplice to a fight against western civilization.

They are obligated to make sure their sources have some fucking credibility. Furthermore, there is no way to just blow this off, when we can see in the matter of an hour or so, a Last Mohican was able to question the validity, and Killgore was able to make those connections.

No excuse.

LGF, Michelle Malkin ran a story on a "faked video"

My question to you is, how callous do these people have to be to assume that the boy is not dead and claim that the video is a forgery? Even if the video was staged after the fact, how could they be sure that the boy was not actually dead? Regardless of your stance on the confict, we know that there have been civilian casualties on both sides; an Israeli baby was hit by shrapnel from a Qassam rocket, and (what I assume are UN or Red Cross) estimates (because they're being run by reputable news sources) peg the Palestinian civilian death total at over 700, 250 of which are children. With so much tragedy on both sides of the conflict, how can Malkin et al. sleep at night while belittling this loss and human misery?

I don't think Miss Malkin ever claimed the boy isn't dead and Charles certainly didn't. Personally i'd guess the boy did die but there's no proof either way.

Actually, the original speculation is that the boy in the video was alive and pretending/acting:

"So the question is, were they re-enacting the resuscitation scene by repeating their actions on a corpse, because the child had died earlier? It’s likely that the answer is no, that child is still alive, and is just an actor pretending to be a child who was killed. Why do I say that? Because the big guy in the white coat, if he’s really a doctor, nurse, nurse’s aid, EMT, or any sort of health care provider at all would be entirely aware that tickling the boy’s sternum doesn’t really look like actual chest compressions. If the boy was dead, the man would have done a more convincing job in compressing the chest. The taps on the chest that he’s doing are the sort of thing you see in bad TV dramas, when you don’t want to make the poor actor playing the victim uncomfortable by really pushing on his chest. I think the man in the white coat knows this child is actually alive, and is making the simulated chest compressions gentle so as not to hurt the child. My guess is that he assumed the videographer, like those on better TV shows, would have been smart enough not to film as far down as the man’s hands on the chest."

According to FAS IDF fields the following UAVs.
Hermes 450
Hermes 1500
Hunter
Pioneer
Scout
Searcher
Sniper

None are listed as being armed.

I assume IAF has some MQ-1 Predators which the US uses extensively. But none of the sites that list equipment confirm that.

Guided Air-Surface missiles the only listing is for the:
Gabriel III

Based on the available information Israel is not fielding armed UAVs. The UAV's are used for surveillance, target acquisition, and bomb damage assessments.

Let's go beyond that and assume a Gabriel III is loaded on a IAF UAV.
The Gabriel has a a 150kg (330lb) high explosive warhead. Or take a Predator with a AGM-114 Hellfire. The Hellfire is much smaller with a warhead depending on model of around 20lbs.

If the the Gabriel had been fired there would not be much left of the house.
If a Hellfire had been fired, the AP version would have punched a hole in the roof, if the fragmentation version had been used everything on the roof including the kids would have be shredded completely.

The claims of the cameraman do not match with known IDF weapons systems.

If the boy was actually killed, that's a terrible thing and I certainly don't enjoy seeing children die, whatever the reason.

But it's even more despicable to pose and stage a scene with his body like this. Ghoulish. Obscene. The kind of thing terrorists do.

Of course the kiddiez at Kos are unable to get that little point.

Not to mention the high professionalism of his "brother" to keep the film rolling the whole time! I know that if my little brother were injured and dying, I would definately want to capture it all on film for a CNN paycheck.

Who is verifying just exactly who is dead in Gaza? The Israelis state what they did each day, but the numbers don't add up to the claims being made by the Gazans All of these children, women, and civilians. Who is verifying these claims?

268 Last Mohican  Fri, Jan 9, 2009 2:57:03pm

Charles, thanks for reposting the CNN video. It's obviously a much better version than the one that was posted on YouTube, and this time I managed to screen-grab a high-quality version, to go along with the one I got from Channel 4's version.

This was the first time I got good enough audio quality to notice the snippet of audio in which Dr. Gilbert and the infamous chest tickler speak with one another, in English. The tickler asks, with an Arabic accent, "he died?" Gilbert nods, and says, "yeah." Somebody off-camera says, also with an Arabic accent, "look at the [something -- maybe 'line']." Gilbert turns to the monitor screen behind him and points to one of the tracings on it. The tickler says "flatline." And then Gilbert says "extreme bradycardia."

No additional proof that this is all fake is needed at this point, but the conversation is pretty strange. For one thing, it's unlikely that anyone with any experience in performing resuscitations in a hospital would ask "he died?" That's because it's not as if a patient is alive one moment, and then something happens to make him dead the next moment.

The whole reason you call a code and start doing chest compressions is because the patient has no pulse. You keep doing the chest compressions for as long as the patient has no pulse without them, and meanwhile you keep injecting drugs and/or administering shocks until the heart (hopefully) starts pumping again. The tracing on the monitor is your clue to what needs to be done next, but it doesn't indicate whether the patient is "dead" or not. If a long enough while has elapsed without a pulse, the doctor in charge officially declares that he or she is giving up, that the heart is never going to start pumping again, and that the patient is dead. So he or she "calls it" -- pronouncing the patient dead, and noting the official time of death. It's pretty much as depicted on "ER", which actually gets this part quite accurately. If there were any question about what was taking place, a participant in the code might ask "are you calling it?" or "are we giving up" or something like that. I.e., are you declaring the code over. But not "he died?"

Maybe I'm reading more into this than is warranted. The chest tickler is apparently not a native English speaker, and maybe he just isn't posing the question the way a native English speaker would. But it does suggest that maybe the man isn't actually a health care provider at all, but just some sort of production assistant who's helping to make the video. So maybe he's not being more convincing not because the boy is alive and he doesn't want to hurt the boy, but just because he has no idea how to do convincing chest compressions. Maybe that actually is a corpse that he's pretending to do chest compressions on.

269 Bubbaman  Fri, Jan 9, 2009 2:57:27pm

Before y'all speculate on the child's status, I urge you to play the video repeatedly and stop it frame by frame. He would have been buried the same day (or is it, within 24 hours?) by Muslim custom.

At an absolute minimum, there had to be transit time to the hospital from the home, treatment time at the hospital, then transit time to the cemetary. At some point in there (before the hospital or afterwards), he was filmed in the home.

You're correct, a lack of rigidity at the cemetery, in and of itself, doesn't prove he was alive.

Gaza Conflict Moves to Virtual World

On Facebook, the pro-Hamas group "Stop Genocide in Palestine" has more than 117,500 members. On the other side, "I Support the Israel Defense Forces in Preventing Terror Attacks from Gaza" has more than 65,000 members.

Messages like "death to the Jews" and "we can't wait to murder you" have been posted to the group, he said, but since positing pro-peace messages to the site in Arabic, Leyden said things have toned down considerably.

Facebook on Thursday removed a Web site called "Hitler Took the Right Decision With Jewish People," saying the group violated its policies.

Talking about whether this boy was really dead or not is not showing a lack of compassion for the many innocents in Gaza that are getting injured or killed. Every innocent death is a tragedy.

However, when your government is a terrorist organization and their tactic is to force Israel's hand and cause them to invade so (1) they can kill more Jews, (2) they can cain sympathy from the world (who already hates Israel by-and-large) by scenes of innocent deaths.

The way to make more innocent deaths: use them as human shields. The way to gain sympathy: show the carnage, and when necessary, fake it.

Why are people surprised with this? This is the most basic tactic they have been using for decades.

292 MJ  Fri, Jan 9, 2009 3:00:16pm

Richard Landes wrote, way back on Dec. 31, the following:

Get me a Massacre: Up next — the Kfar Qana of Operation Cast Lead

Whether by Israeli accident or Hamas engineering, expect a spectacular civilian massacre in the coming days, followed by an orgy of Pallywood photography, amplified by a compliant Western media, and even greater fury in the streets of the Muslim and Western world. It’s in the Hamas playbook… and will be until the media gets sober. Here’s the background, and the obscenity that will probably be played.

Barry Rubin has laid out the various endgames open to Hamas, and how, when all else fails, it’s the media reserves you draw on to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. And it’s an old story: Arafat called the Western media, busy drinking at the Commodore Hotel in Beirut under the protection of his mafiosi while his “guerillas” participated in a civil war (1975-82) that killed 100,000 civilians, his best division.

The pattern has long been clear, and most recently carried out with explosive effectiveness in the Lebanon war of 2006… when Israel is winning, get yourself a civilian massacre. Make sure that you have shocking civilian casualties that rally all the key players to your side — the other Arab nations and groups and individuals who are secretly, quietly rooting for your defeat, but who, once the images of dead children appear on the TV screens, watch the Arab street riot, and eventually can’t avoid siding with you, the “victim”… the European leaders and diplomats who piously kept an even-handed approach in the hopes that Israel might swiftly decapitate the snake… and the journalists and talking heads who have been chomping at the bit to jump on Israel for their disproportionate response.

At that point, as in the weeks after Kfar Qana, the Israelis have lost the media war: the pressure to withdraw grows daily; the damage to Israel — and to any Jew who dares defend her — becomes unbearable. For the terrorist organization that targets both its enemy’s and its own civilians, just sit back and watch all your pieces fall into place....

Supposedly, he quickly administered a precordial thump to himself, before he lost his blood pressure and passed out, and he managed to restart his heart.

I don't believe it actually happened.

In my mind, Occam's Razor does.

I can't imagine that they would leave the boy's wrapped in a bloody sheet after the hospital visit, would they? If the home scene is prior to the hospital, why are they sitting around the room with a severely injured child and not immediately on their way to the hospital? The whole film just raises a ton of questions.

On Topic (and you can see why):

To all the delusional leftists and Hizbullah (Hizballa / Hezbollah / Hizballah) supporters, it appears that Nasrallah's "divine victory" is more like another crushing defeat:

[Link: www.ynetnews.com...]

Asharq Al-Awsat reported that Dahiya, a Hizbullah stronghold in Beirut that was heavily bombarded by the Israeli Air Force during the Second Lebanon War, is still in ruins. Only 20% of the structures that had been destroyed in the war were rebuilt, and 80% of the neighborhood's displaced residents have yet to return despite Hizbullah's promises, the newspaper added.

Therefore, a Hizbullah attack on Israel may be viewed by its supporters as a reckless move and hurt its popularity in Lebanon. A new war may also affect Iran's status in the country, which is of great importance to Hizbullah.

Israel just marked another √ on long checklist of victories.

In the summer 06 war the general consensus seems like nobody won, except some 45 billion shiites who managed to convince themselves that they defeated Israel while being buried under bunkers and rubbles underneath their homes.
The problem is that the media has been parroting the same liberal mantra from the "world community" and the whines of terrorists to make Israel look like it surrendered, when in fact it was a couple of steps away from eradicating the iranian Hizballah tentacle.

The CNN, BBC and many many others continue the tradition of allowing big fish fascists, liars, terrorists and their supporters continue demonizing Israel, today. Only this time Israel seems to have learned a lesson or two from the ungratefulness of media bias. A very partial indication to that is the current defense minister that doesn't look like a street clown.

Unfortunately, I can 'hope' that Obama does not go weak in the knees, but he probably will. Hamas is just trying to hang on for 11 more days and then get a bailout plan of their own from Washington.

Last Mohican (#268),

The very fact that these palestinian doctors are speaking in English is proof that this is a stage play intended for Wester media consumption.

The root of the problem is awful Public "education" system and the Teachers' Union that controls it. If private schools were as prone to failure, they'd go bankrupt. The fact that the Government controls the public education just means that their credit rating won't be downgraded to "junk" values, nor will bad teachers be fired.

The current system is a dismal failure. It has been for at least all of my lifetime. Throwing money at the problem just means that bad teachers not only don't get fired, they get a raise.

I expect Obama to be awful when it comes to education policy. Who's he appointed for Education? Did he dig up Larry, Moe, and Curley and appoint them? All I rember was it was a stooge.

Dead on, as usual. Sickened me yesterday when Education spending was one of the big points in his economic speech. We don't need more spending...we need actual teaching and a curriculum that's worth teaching.

I have spent some time in Afganistan very long ago. Let me tell you, men there value their livestock, wives and children. In that exact order, from most valued to least valued. I bet it is similar in many countries of middle east.

There is no hamas member walking around in gaza these days without having one-two children by his side as a shield, and the children volunteer for that!
Families flock to rocket launcher installations like we (well those who vote) flock to voting booths or to parks and lakes on a hot summer morning.
Everyone there is brainwashed. Then America accepts some of them as refugees to live in the States, and they live here for dozens of years and still show same wild animal rage at their demonstrations.

I actually think the boy could have been alive - the extremely well UN-fed hamas PR guy closed his eyes, extended his arm, grabbed the first boy from the swarm, asked him to act dead, donned scrubs and attempted to earn an Oscar.
Well on the other hand, the boy could have been really dead, and the PR guy was careful with CPR because he did not want to desecrate the dead body too much?
In any case, the Norwegian doctor should be punished somehow for taking part in this charade.

Mads Gilbert is worse than a "goober."

Mads Gilbert is described on his Wikipedia page as a “Communist politician as a member of the party Red“. The Red party was previously the Workers Communist Party, which supported Pol Pot:

AKP openly endorsed the Khmer Rouge of Cambodia, and when that party’s forces invaded Phnom Penh, Klassekampen had “Long live the free Cambodia” as their front page headline. Support from AKP endured in spite of the killings which were reported during Pol Pot’s rule which AKP at that time considered to be lies, and AKP had delegations visiting the country.

Mads Gibert himself supports terrorism. This is what he told a Norwegian newspaper, the Dagbladet, a couple of weeks after 9/11:

If the U.S. government has a legitimate right to bomb and kill civilians in Iraq, then there is also a moral right to attack the United States with the weapons they had to create. Dead civilians are the same whether they are Americans, Palestinians or Iraqis.

Do you supports the terrorist attack on the United States?
Terror is a bad weapon, but the answer is yes, within the context I have mentioned”

Some here have asked why the Hamasniks would bother to fake a scene like this when their human shield tactics have provided a ready supply of authentic child casualties. It's a good question.

I think it may have been an ad hoc effort to take advantage of a certain set of circumstances: With the Norwegian war criminal and a handy cameraman both on the scene, and knowing about the former's high media profile, someone may have decided to recruit a handy kid and produce this little drama right on the spur of the moment.

Yeah, I don't make too much out of the fact that everyone is speaking in English. English is the universal language in many fields these days, but especially in medicine, and doctors all over the world have to learn to read scientific articles and often textbooks in English. At most international medical meetings, the presentations are all given in English. With a Norwegian doctor and Arab staff, I'd expect that they'd speak to each other in English, unless the Norwegian spoke Arabic.

I don't have time to read all the comments here like I used to (many years ago). So maybe someone's noted this, but in downtown Chicago right now an estimated "5,000" (likely inflated number) are marching on the Israeli Consulate chanting: "Free, Free Palestine: Yes We Can!" This is so twisted and Orwellian and bizarre ... I really have no other words. Just thought I'd share that.

388 Harry Tuttle  Fri, Jan 9, 2009 3:22:17pm

What does this mean?

"Senior Bush administration officials are preparing to ask lawmakers for the second half of the $700 billion financial rescue package despite intense opposition in Congress and then have President Bush use his veto if the request is voted down, three sources familiar with the matter said."

He is going to veto it if they vote down the measure?

Have I woken up in the bizzaro world?

But there is a threshold where keeping silent makes things worse. Once the other MSM networks start reporting on it, for example, then they will have to make an official response. When/if that comes, count on it to be official sounding and not enough.

The Red Cross has been in the leftist, anti-American, anti-Jewish, pro-islamist tank for a long time. I haven't given them money in years.

Hey the Red Cross said there was no Holocaust:

"As reports of extermination camps began to spread in 1944, the Red Cross visited the Theresienstadt ghetto in Czechoslovakia at the invitation of the Nazis. The Nazis cleaned up the ghetto by lessening overcrowded conditions by sending prisoners to Auschwitz and adding a bank, shops and schools.
The ruse worked. The Red Cross reported that allegations of extermination camps were unfounded...."

It's always been a Jew-hating organization. They wouldn't accept Israel into the International Red Cross for decades because Israel insisted on using a red Star of David as their symbol. They still can't just use the Star of David alone unless it's inside another symbol.

No one seems to question this.

This is not new stuff, folks. It is the old blood libel, alive and well and living in the Arab world, from whence it is dutifully reported by CNN.

Hey, who are you to question CNN's extremely reliable sources?

The Hamas Press Secretary told them over the phone.

Interesting story juxtaposition:

1. "More than 100 members of one extended Gazan family were allegedly herded by Israeli soldiers into a house that was subsequently shelled, killing up to 30 people and leaving others wounded and living with the corpses for three days."

2. "Hamas has stepped up efforts to eliminate Israeli informers, killing more than half a dozen since the start of Operation Cast Lead 14 days ago. It has also cracked down on rival Fatah members, placing hundreds under house arrest and killing or maiming others, according to Israeli media. "

The Red Cross has been in the leftist, anti-American, anti-Jewish, pro-islamist tank for a long time. I haven't given them money in years.

As I understand it, for many years, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) wouldn't allow the Jewish and later Israeli Magen David Adom (MDA, Red Star of David) into their group. Their reason was that the MDA used a nonstandard symbol, a star rather than a cross. Of course, all along, the ICRC had allowed the membership of Red Crescent societies from Muslim countries.

ICRC finally allowed MDA into their group only in 2006, but they made a point of simultaneously recognizing the Palestinian Red Crescent Society at the same time.

I'm also reminded of Zombie's excellent exposé of the fake "IDF attack on a Lebanese ambulance" incident, which the ICRC refused to comment upon.

The question has no bearing on the veracity of the tape. Only on my own personal curiosity about how such a thing comes together.

I vote A.

The *shallow compressions* aren't necessarily the issue..with children, compressions are quite a bit shallower than with adults. The applying of ? patches after looking at the monitor is mighty odd, as they appear to be EKG patches for attaching the monitor! The child is wearing an O2 mask, which you can see if you go thru the frames slowly. To my eyes, CPR is being performed not on the child himself but on the blanket that covers him, and it appears the compressions are being performed on his abdomen, not his chest.
I have done my fair share of CPR compressions (RN ret.) and this just all looks wrong.

interesting point I had not seen brought up before. It's not like they are airline pilots or ATCs and have to speak English on the job.

420 ceemack  Fri, Jan 9, 2009 3:36:41pm

The attempts at "reviving" the boy are clearly fake.

It also seemed to me that the boy was alive, not dead.

I can point to specific evidence that the CPR was faked--no effort at ventilation, too-gentle compressions, compressions delivered too low on the torso.

There's also the fact that once they took the boy home, then took him to the cemetery, the "blood" on the sheet was still red and not brown.

I can't point to anything specific like that about the appearance of the boy, except to say that he seemed to have too much color in his skin and seemed to have too much tension in his muscles--it seemed to me as though he was holding his head up partly on his own. But I've only seen a couple of corpses, so I'm no expert.

It would be bad enough to stage something like that with live boy. But to stage it with the corpse of a child...that would be truly sick.

It's worse if the kid is dead - which is a reasonable presumption.

It means they desecrate their dead, staging and playing with the corpse like a doll, for nothing but propaganda points.

But acting stupid on camera with a dead child annoys me worse than killing a child in the first place.

Ah, the old "fake but accurate" defense.

The point is, if PART of the story is a lie, then you have to assume ALL of it is a lie. The burden of proof then falls on the Palestinian bulls@$tters to prove the rest of it.

Its up to the LIARS to prove the kid is dead.

Its then up to them that the kid was in fact killed by Israelis, and not by a stray Hamas bullet or bomb (as have already killed multiple Palestinian children).

re: #235 jcm

I also read that their process before sending a bomb is to telephone the residents and tell them they have terrorists or munitions in their midst and to get out because the building they're in is next. At which time apparently the civilians in the building are often sent to the roof to try to deter the Israelis from bombing. And then there is a fire cracker flashbang dropped to one corner of the roof, which generally causes the civilians to get off the roof and out of the building. And then they take out the building. So what part of that process would result in the tiny damage shown on the roof and injure or kill someone? I don't see it...?
