CNN’s Staged Video Updates: The Norwegian Connection

Media • Views: 5,212

European LGF reader “morning star” points out another interesting connection between the Norwegian doctor Mads Gilbert, and “freelance photographer” Ashraf Mashharawi:

Please note that Mads Gilbert knows or is part of a group in his home town Tromsoe in Norway, who long have planned to make a film together with Ashraf Mashharawi (the famous “freelance cameraman” in the video).

See

http://www.tromso-gaza.no/styrereferat081008.pdf

and

http://www.tromso-gaza.no/styrereferat081111.pdf

This group, which promotes friendship between Tromsoe and Gaza, also met Ahmed Mashharawi, a film maker with whom Ashraf Mashharawi has worked together, at a film festival.

This means Gilbert and Mahharawi probably knew each other before this incident.

And more connections surface; here’s a 15-minute documentary at the Danish site counteract.tv, titled “From the Camp.“ The credits contain several names that will be familiar if you’ve followed the threads:

Cameraman & Director: Ahmed Mashharawi
Script: Raid Dawoud
Editing: Ashraf Mashharawi
Narrator: Paul Martin

I think the real issue should be, "how much so-called medical treatment in Gaza is faked?"
The people of Gaza need to be able to see this footage.
They also need to be shown what real life-saving medical treatment looks like.
They might turn, en masase, against their Hamas Sharia overlords, if exposed to such truths.
You never know....

The antisemitic tradition is alive and well in Norway.

Norway - a paradigm for anti-Semitism

This video is the tip of an iceberg - as shown by the further links here in this thread.
Together with the 'protests' around the world, and with the general propaganda coming from Hamas over the last years, it reminds me very much indeed of the staged protests and the campaigns run by the communists in the 1920s and 1930s.

How that worked, and who was involved is described in this excellent book:
Double Lives: Stalin, Willi Munzenberg and the Seduction of the Intellectuals (Paperback)
by Stephen Koch (Author)

Get your hands on a copy while you can - it makes chilling reading and gives the blueprint for what we're seeing today in regard to Israel.

Sorry to all the people who think that this was an "accident" or an "oversight" by CNN, but I think you're all a bit naive.
CNN has made no secret of the fact that they consider Israel to be an "evil" entity. To think that they would broadcast a segment with the potential to sway viewers one way or the other without considering the possibility of fraud is to deny the last few decades of CNN policy.
They knew (that it was fake), they lied (at least by omission by not including the links between the "filmers" and the "doctor" and Hamas). They are an active part of the propaganda branch of Hamas.

I'm truly saddened at the decline of the msm's credibility.
Is it too much to ask the media outlets to just report the truth, and let the chips fall where they may?

Apparently it is!

viva the blogosphere.

There are still outlets where you can find the truth.

I actually feel sorry for dupes and submenials, that haven't got 'the memo' yet, and still put blind faith in (former) credible msm news outlets.

Me thinks the first (or last) couple of newspapers that get the truth right, will survive.
Even in the internet news age.

Pallywood Productions presents "Ashraf and Mad's Agitprop Adventure." Nutty Norwegian Marxist Mads Gilbert teams up with Hamas death cult knucklehead Ashraf Mashharawi to bring the UN, the IRC, and the rest of the Loony Left the latest in anti-Israeli agitprop. Special guest appearance by the Green Helmet Guy. Narrated by Baghdad Bob and Christiane Amanpour. Tune in tonight on CNN!
117 jaunte  Sat, Jan 10, 2009 11:42:18am

I've been watching some YouTube videos of Mads Gilbert complaining about poor conditions and lack of equipment at Shifa Hospital. Note this from his Wiki bio:
"Gilbert has broad range international experiences, in particular from locations that merge medical and political issues. Actively involved with solidarity work concerning Palestinians since the 1970s, he has served as a doctor during numerous periods in Palestine and Lebanon. His efforts have been central to the efforts that have lead the city of Tromsø, since 2001 a twin town of Gaza, to claim to be the city that has sent more health workers to Palestine than any other the world."
Gilbert simply passes on the impression that the Israelis are responsible for the lack of healthcare materials and skills in Gaza, failing to notice the:
-Priorities of the palestinian leadership
-Priorities of the palestinian arms smugglers
-Priorities of the 'solidarity activists'
None of which include a concern for healthcare if it interferes with assisting the propaganda effort of a designated terrorist organization.
Gilbert chose to help make this staged video and many others which further the efforts of Hamas, which cement his role as that of a propagandist, rather than a healer.

Hey Paul Martin - since you are reading this, tell any Gazan who isn't with Hamas that they will never get peace while Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Al Asqa Martyr Brigades keep targeting Israeli citizens.

Tell them, there will always be checkpoints while the threat of suicide bombs exists.

Tell them, there will be military action until Hamas can't attack Israel any more.

Tell them that peace is possible (it happened between Egypt & Israel and between Jordan & Israel), but it will only happen when they stop trying to destroy Israel.

That's the only exit from the misery they live in.

It's logical. Why would Israel establish a state for people who want to kill them? Why would they have no security from people who want to kill them? Why would they allow people to rocket them?

Explain this f**king simple truth to them.

OT, in more staged pro-islamist news:

Antonio Banderas the Spanish actor who lives in Malibu, California with wife Melanie Griffith, went to the Arab Emirates to get funding for a movie about the last Islamic ruler of Spain, "Boabdil" or Abdullah.

Mr. Banderas, who may be socialist/communist, is a native al Al-Andalus and is ingratiating himself with rich Islamists, many of whom party hard in Al Andalus, the heart of communist Spain.

Mr. Banderas has a film production company in Malaga, Al Andalus, and an animated pictures company in Granada, Al Andalus.

Source: 29 Oct. p. 22 issue of Hola!/Hello! magazine vol. 3352.

Banderas was suppose to stay in a film about Ataurk. There was some speculation that he dropped out from pressure by Greek Americans. While there was certainly pressure from them, there was also threats from
Islamists who didn't want a sympathetic movie about the man who all but banned Islam from his country.
Banderas is a coward.

Note in the NYT how they don't identify the Islamist threats on Banderas and just refer to them as "others".

Apology to a Plate Glass Window

Alas, dear friend! I am so sorry that you had to shatter. From that day you were loaded on the truck gleaming and clear and placed in the front of a London shop, you were part of city life. Witness and reflection in one of the great cities of the world.

Now you lay in pieces on the street, a crude board taking your place, brown ugly and not transparent at all. Windows are the thing that make cities. Letting in life and letting people see, opening spaces and minds to the endless possibilities of man. Sadly, today, my broken friend, was your last. You see, there are a few million people called Jews. We are this old people who returned to our ancient homeland in large numbers. This deeply offends some people, especially the ones that think Stalin and Hitler weren't such bad guys. Some of these even feel that Stalin and Hitler did not go far enough, especially with regard to us Jews.

But history taught us, Window, that, if we did not wish to perish, we would have to stand together and fight. We gathered in our ancient homeland, our enemies claim we aren't even really Jews, even though every last one of our scattered ancient tribe's priests has a unique gene, that no other people else has; it is odd for history to have to be validated by genetics but I don't write to broken pieces of glass too often, so work with me on this one. For 61 years now, waves of hatred have risen against our hope and dream of living in peace in the land of our fathers. Most of the people around us are as sick and tired of the wars as we are but there are still a lot of people who believe that words in their Holy Books command them to murder every last one of us.

About three weeks ago, some of these die-hards declared an end to a truce they were sort of observing with us. I say sort of because they really never ceased fire and they spent the time arming themselves to the teeth. Well they started doing what they call "resistance." What the means is they began shooting military rockets into Jewish civilian areas without caring who or what they hit. Now there are such things as the Laws of War and this violates all of them. They did not care, after all, they declare their plan to kill every Jew in the ancient homeland and that was not going to happen without violating said Laws of War.

Now the Jews had a decision, they could use their military might and beat these guys or evacuate every place in range of the missiles. The problem with Plan B was the enemy was getting more missiles and longer range missiles. So, Plan A. Now the Jews have done a lot over the last 15 years to try and make peace with the other people in the area. They gave up and pulled out of lands taken in defensive wars and offered to give these in the cause of peace. This led the more crazy of our enemies to think us weak instead of peaceloving.

Imagine their shock when these people found out we were not going to give into their murderous desires but defend ourselves. They say we are cowards and weak and historically doomed to fall to their knives and to deter us, they hid in civilian areas; we bend over backwards to obey the Laws of War. We figured out our personal safety requires a REALLY good army that is led by a very bright capable officer corps. Well these guys had been thinking about what to do about the rocket people and came up with a plan. After asking them to stop, our Army hit the rocket people harder than few people have ever been hit in history.

And that, poor Window, is why you lay shattered on a London Street. The friends of the rocket people, who never met a war crime against Jews they did not wholly approve, are very angry we are fighting back and, frankly, kicking their ass all over hell and creation. Good point, but at least there was some kind of resistance somewhere. The French weren't all collaborators at first.

These days, they couldn't muster a Resistance if they tried; and they wouldn't try, anyway.

The famous French Resistance was in the high hundreds before the liberation and in the hundreds of thousands after the liberation. Similarly it is a little known fact that so many Germans were keeping a Jew in the basement that there was a critical shortage of Jews in Germany during the War. The government had to meet this popular demand by going out to find and import Jews to satisfy the millions of kind hearted citizens.

Nasty and good. The bit about all those Germans hiding Jews was obviously phony, anyway. Germans were a law-abiding folk; if the authorities said round 'em up, they would.

Wherever they survived, some Pole, German, Russian or Ukrainian, even a few Arabs, saved these lives. This is not to forgive the guilty and the indifferent, rather it is to try to make any discussion of the Holocaust start with remembering the righteous.

The WSJ has dropped the ball on this one. Noted Palestinian apologist and lawyer George E. Bisharat opines that Israel Is Committing War Crimes

The United Nations charter preserved the customary right of a state to retaliate against an "armed attack" from another state. The right has evolved to cover nonstate actors operating beyond the borders of the state claiming self-defense, and arguably would apply to Hamas. However, an armed attack involves serious violations of the peace. Minor border skirmishes are common, and if all were considered armed attacks, states could easily exploit them -- as surrounding facts are often murky and unverifiable -- to launch wars of aggression. That is exactly what Israel seems to be currently attempting.

This fool is arguing that since Hamas is not trying to _invade_ Israel that there is right to self defense.

Needless to say this tool lives in San Francisco. The Wall Street Journal should be ashamed.

Look, as one whose family was (except for a very few) fortunate enough to be out of Europe during the war, I am of course appreciative of those Righteous Among the Nations who did help Jews to survive.

But the simple fact is that many of the folks who claim they hid Jews, or who say their parents or grandparents did, are probably mistaken or lying. It's their way of somehow absolving themselves of their own feelings of guilt.

re: #9 lifeofthemind

CNN got punked, assuming they were ignorant stooges, or did their producer know? In that case they got Mapled.

"Mapled" is the appropriate term here, in that the fishiness of the CPR technique was evident to amateurs with only most basic training in CPR -- just as one didn't need any advanced or specialized knowledge of typography to be suspicious of the Rather memo.

In both cases, the testimonies from experts in the appropriate fields have only served to (massively) confirm what sharp-eyed amateurs had already suspected to be the case: that the tummy-tickling being applied by the Palestinian "medic" was totally inconsistent with effective CPR practices. The tickling is, however, consistent with either of two hypotheses:

(1) The child and the medic were both actors, and the "medic" was naturally trying to avoid harming the child with more realistic compressions;

(2) The child was already quite dead, by whatever cause, and the "medic" was an actor who was squeamish about touching a dead body. (A real medic who was knowingly participating in a fraud would've had no reason to refrain from more realistic CPR -- a corpse won't be bothered by cracked ribs.)

And if public opinion against the video continues to grow, count on CNN to use the same defensive tactic as used by Rather and Maples -- claiming that the fakery could not have been at all apparent to anyone but a team of experts, and that normal "due diligence" in vetting a news story before airing does not and cannot involve calling a team of experts as the routine practice.

Wherever they survived, some Pole, German, Russian or Ukrainian, even a few Arabs, saved these lives.

I can't remember his last name (Yitzak something) - he wrote 'A Surplus of Memories' - he was a Jew in the Warsaw ghetto underground. He wrote that it took only one person to kill a Jew - but it could take a lot more to just try to help a Jew get food.

But they are letting go the criminal Hamas leaders who came through the border in ambulances. Shouldn't they be in jail and held for war crimes trials for shooting rockets onto civilians in Israel, not to mention their human shield policy. If they let them go, they will keep poisoning and are good to go in murdering civilians another day.

279 Ayatollah Ghilmeini  Sat, Jan 10, 2009 12:19:40pm

Why we should disbelieve the report breaks down into three reasons:

- Past experience that leads us to question the reliability of the sources
- Evidence the soruces are deeply biased
- Incongruities in the video that western medical experts claim to show staging.

The press has shown time and again to have falsely blamed Israel, from Jenin, to the Rusted Ambulances of 2006 and the al Dura blood libel, a pattern of press manipulation by Israel's enemies is readily apparent. It is known that all major terror groups have propaganda arms with specific orders to lie about casualties and fabricate atrocities to undermine support for Israel. Israel is not perfect, in her wars civilians have died and in some cases she has improperly or pointlessly inflicted casualties. Most western military experts agree that Israel takes enormous steps to avoid civilian casualties.

If the man in the report is the same fellow who operates Hamas website, he must be viewed with deep suspicions. It cannot be automatically said he is lying but the burden of evidence must shift. Hamas could not even tell the world they were part of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood until AFTER Sheikh Yassin was killed. Honesty is not their long suit. There is also no question that UNRWA and its workers have actively collaborated with Hamas and anti Israel groups over the years. Weapons have been found on their premises time and again; UNRWA personnel have lied about activities on their facilities and they have a disturbing ability to hire only the most radical people as teachers and workers. UNRWA's false accusations after Jenin were never retracted. If the CPR was indeed feigned, the man knew or had to know. Given his far Left leanings, his reliability should be assumed to be close to zero.

Lastly, I don't know much about CPR but the tummy tapping in the vid is not going to do much. I have to believe the medicos on this blog who say its not effective.

re: #248 Throbert McGee

(1) The child and the medic were both actors, and the "medic" was naturally trying to avoid harming the child with more realistic compressions;

Could I add one further possibility to your list?

(3) The child was already quite dead, and was a close relative of some Hamas-hole standing in the room, holding an AK-47, and the "doctor" was understandably squeamish about applying massive force to the kid's corpse under the circumstances, if you get my drift.

The media is a collectively fucking stupid.

Hamas is not only responsible for a few murders, but they are also responsible for thousands of counts of ATTEMPTED MURDER.

In our justice system, attempted murder is considered a serious crime almost as serious as murder itself and entails severe punishment.

Attempted murder encompasses the same actions and intent as an actualized murder, the difference being the actor's incompetence or unfavorable circumstances.

Therefore where is the disproportionality? If attempted murder is almost as serious a crime as completed murder, then a few hundred dead Palestinians (of which at least some are attempted murderers) vs. thousands of attempted murders of mostly innocent Israeli civilians seems quite proportional.

re: #51 pre-Boomer Marine brat

Trivia "pursuant" -- isn't the Norway rat the largest in the rat family?

This is tricky to answer -- it depends on how strictly one defines "rat family."

I'm pretty sure that the "Norway rat" is the largest in the Rattus genus, whose members are sometimes regarded as the "true" rats. And beyond doubt Rattus norvegicus the most widely-distributed, the most "self-domesticated" and the most "important" of the rat species. ("Important" both as destructive pests throughout the millennia, and much more recently as a model laboratory species.)

And because pet rats were originally descended from animals originally domesticated for lab use, R. norvegicus is the best-represented rat species in pet stores worldwide, though they're not the only rat to have been domesticated on purpose by people who considered them desirable pets.

P.S. One more piece of trivia: despite its name, the Norway rat is probably of Asian origin -- it's from Norway as much as the turkey is from Turkey or the guinea pig is from New Guinea.

This, Sir, is no CPR

300 RaiderDan  Sat, Jan 10, 2009 2:12:49pm

CNN apparently has learned NOTHING about RatherGate.

They are actually trying to defend this obvious fraud that they broadcast. They truly have doubled down on stupid.

I can guarantee you that in CNN's Standards and Practices handbook (and like CBS News they have one) there probably is a line in there which says "CNN will not broadcast any scene which appears staged, reproduced or reenacted."

So, the next step for LGF is finding that CNN handbook on standards and practices.

Secondly. Its time for Surgeon General-nominee Dr. Sanjay Gupta and to answer for this obvious fraud.

Now I doubt Dr. Gupta had anything to do with this, but President-elect Obama chose Dr. Gupta to be the nation's surgeon general for the most part based on the reputation of Dr. Gupta's work at CNN and CNN's heretofore previously unblemished reputation for broadcasting factual news, especially on the topic of public health.

Dr. Gupta should answer this question during his Senate confirmation:

"Dr. Gupta, President-elect Barack Obama has submitted your nomination the United States Senate as Surgeon General of the United States. Your credentials for such a position are primarily based upon your sterling work as Chief Medical Correspondent for the Cable News Network, and the news credibility of your network around the globe.

Now, your network has broadcast video which appears to show an obvious staged pantomine of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR as part of a story involving the alleged death of a 12 year old child in the Gaza strip. Your network is standing by this video as authentic and not staged, however it felt compelled to REMOVE that particular segment as part of the video after bloggers and others began questioning it.

In your opinion, seeing today this full segment, and as a Doctor, neurosurgeon, and as Chief Medical Correspondent for CNN, is this the proper way to perform CPR?"

"If it is not, does it appear faked? Can you tell us today as CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent WHY it withdrawn, without a correction or explanation?"

"If you believe that this is a staged event, why did it appear on your network? Can you tell us today whether you would stand behind this piece today as a journalist as being accurate?"

Can you also understand the embarrassment we would have as Senators in confirming you as Surgeon General if it later came out that this particular piece of video YOUR network showed was determined to be faked and you told us as a doctor and a journalist it was accurate?"

If CNN doesn't retract this video, Dr. Gupta should not be confirmed as Surgeon General, as he is willing to stand by an obvious fraud by his employer. CNN may unwittingly be pulling down Dr. Gupta as Surgeon General nominee, and contributing to yet another black eye for President elect Barack Obama.

ftr Paul Martin's quite reputable company also produced or co-produced House of War (for CNN), about Afghanistan, Good Morning Mr Hitler, Battle for the Holocaust (for C4) - a look at who benefits from remembering the holocaust, Babitzky's War (about Chechnya), and Damned in the USA among other films with a liberal-progressive interest. Presumably he has quite an address book in the Middle East as well as with C4 and CNN.

#284: If that is truly the case, my anger at the Palestinian EMT/nurse/paramedic/doctor faking compressions is misplaced. If he had no choice but to cooperate with the Mads Doctors in his "Big Lie" or risk death, he made a difficult choice of survival over integrity.

Either way, it shows the absolute depravity of Hamas.

[Link: edition.cnn.com...]

They quote the hospital administrator as saying:
"Raafat Hamdouna, administrative director at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, said Friday that "Mahmoud Khalil Mashharawi, a 12-year-old, was brought to the hospital, and he was breathing, but he was hit in the head and all over his body by shrapnel. He died later in the hospital. He was treated by the Norwegian team. When he was brought in, he was breathing. The team did their best to save him. I am not really sure if they even tried to rush him to the surgery room, because he was badly hurt."

If he was hit in the head, there would have been blood, bandages, and massive swelling. I saw no evidence of that in any of the photos. The more they talk, the deeper they dig themselves.

There was a blanket covering up much of the boy's lower half. I can't help but think this was to hide whatever injuries he actually had. The footage certainly doesn't tally with the descriptions given.

He had an intravenous drip in his left arm, and I think that was where the noticeable blood on the bed came from. I'm not a medic. Is it normal for people to bleed that much from a drip?

The man in green in the video: Would it be normal for medics wearing short sleeved scrubs to wear long sleeved clothes underneath? Also, anyone think he may just a little bit look like the man photographed for the Bedless in Gaza story on the World News And Features website?

This is Martin's latest report for the BBC: The unmeasurable price of war It covers the boy's death, amongst other things.

version three;(from your link)

On the sixth day of this current war I could not get hold of Ashraf on the mobile phone.

Later, in tears, he told me why. His youngest brother Mahmoud, aged 12, and his 14-year-old cousin, were told it was too dangerous outside Ashraf's family home in the deserted side streets. So the children played innocently on the family home's flat roof.

Then an unmanned Israeli aircraft fired two small rockets.

Ashraf rushed upstairs and took the boys to hospital.

Now remember, this is the building that has "scores of women and children"

here is another quote from Mr Martin;

They died, he said, when this man was picking up this kid from the nursery school. Uri was taking off, aiming to kill what he defined as terrorists. "I always carry these photos with me on a mission," he explained, "to remind me that when I hunt down a terrorist I am protecting people like these."

Unfortunately when I read the comments on LGF my machine freezes, so I haven't had a chance to read every single comment. However, my wife made what I believe to be a good point. Rigor Mortis sets in approx 3 hours after death, and although it may take 36-72 hours to fully manifest, surely the boys limp head/neck at the cemetry would not have been possible if he had been killed several hours previously?

And one other point - in the middle of a war zone with your enemy dropping bombs, indiscriminately according to the Palestinians - goes and 'plays on the roof'. Or were they playing with explosives?
