What happened to the passengers indeed. Our friend Michael Horrocks was the co-pilot on the United flight that was the second plane to hit the WTC. That footage is so hard to watch knowing he's on there but probably dead.

The previous day he had been putting in a new brick walkway at his home, left-half done to finish when he returned. After 911 a few neighbors got together and finished the walkway for his wife and three children.

I've heard the conspiracists say the government bought off the passengers - or had them all killed. You'd have to kill people to keep them away from their spouses and children.

When tempted to "investigate" a potential troof, I make it a point to run the issue by the dumbest, most disinterested person I can find.

The result us usually that that person will make some comment that points out how silly the troof issue really is. Quite often, the reviewer will get sucked into the issue, though, so it does have downsides.

... and yes, there are (is) a troof issue out there that still leaves me questioning some things.

To suggest otherwise is to admit a conspiracy so vast that everyone from the people on board the planes to the Port Authority was in on it. Still, these troofers will claim exactly that.

The truth is simply too horrible for these people to care to admit - that Islamic terrorists carried through on their promises to wage war against the US and bring down the towers that were targets previously in 1993.

Upding for you. My daughter just graduated with a liberal arts degree from a religious school in Virginia. She and her new husband are very hard working, having worked all summer installing security systems in the inner city of Boston. She ran into lots of layabouts at both ends of the economic spectrum.

They are just finishing a 3 month hiatus, and are in fact enroute today to Dallas from Star Valley Wyoming, where my son-in-law's parents live. During that time they both did lots of ranch work helping his grandfather herd cattle, take cattle to market, and "the slaughter." The grandpa is a real 81 year old Wyoming cowboy complete with hat - he even wore jeans and a plaid shirt and cowboy hat to the kids wedding- right out of central casting.

She is having our first grandchild in July. These kids get it.

Upding for you. My daughter just graduated with a liberal arts degree from a religious school in Virginia. She and her new husband are very hard working, having worked all summer installing security systems in the inner city of Boston. She ran into lots of layabouts at both ends of the economic spectrum.

They are just finishing a 3 month hiatus, and are in fact enroute today to Dallas from Star Valley Wyoming, where my son-in-law's parents live. During that time they both did lots of ranch work helping his grandfather herd cattle, take cattle to market, and "the slaughter." The grandpa is a real 81 year old Wyoming cowboy complete with hat - he even wore jeans and a plaid shirt and cowboy hat to the kids wedding- right out of central casting.

She is having our first grandchild in July. These kids get it.

I've heard it said that each successive generation lives like their grandparents did. That seems to be true from what I've seen...

(2) To those who believe that the WTC towers (1, 2 and 7) were destroyed by controlled demolitions: this programme, broadcast last July, shows how complicated and time consuming the process of a controlled demolition is (see 27:24 minutes in to 32:11). An empty building marked for destruction by specialists takes weeks if not months of preparation, during which the entire structure is gutted while the explosives are placed. How exactly were the WTC towers rigged for demolition in such a manner that no one working in the offices within these buildings noticed anything unusual?

I was living in Oxford, England at the time. The John Radcliffe Hospital was designated for combat wounded evacuated from Kuwait/Iraq. Although I have no medical training, I wanted to volunteer to do jobs to free up the nurses. I called the staff office but was told that they didn't need any more help.

I was so disappointed that I couldn't help, but fervently thankful that we had so few casualties.

They can read, sort of, in a country where at latest estimates 14% of adults are functionally illiterate, unable to read instructions on a prescription and unable to read this here post.

What the troofer can't do is bring common sense to bear on questions that lack any immediate relevance to his own plans for the next week. Put him on a plane with four dudes-fitting-a-stereotype who gather in the aisle and bring out knives and guns. Your average troofer will not smile and ask if he can play with the shiny sharp things. He will get it, finally. He doesn't get it now, because trooferism is a wonderful rhetorical and face-saving device.

A troofer doesn't need to suffer embarrassment when the conversation turns to Benazir Bhutto, or Gaza, or energy supplies and Russia and Georgia. He doesn't have to demonstrate knowledge of current affairs, or insight, or even the ability to follow a line of thought. He just sweeps the pieces from the table with the arch declaration that "it was all a plot". And just like that, he gets this rush: those know-it-alls have been put in their places, by gum. He is the superior! He rules! And they sort of turn away, and drift off, and he is left to reflect on his own greatness and secret merit.

The death itself and the fact that Ashraf’s cameraman had filmed all the PREVIOUS events, and the subsequent return to the home with the body, and the funeral, would have been dramatic enough… in fact the hospital post-death concluding effort by the doctor(s) in no way enhanced the power of the filming - if anything it weakened it… just a body lying there and Ashraf mourning over his dead brother’s lifeless corpse would have been more powerful.

That means the Chanel 4 piece (and the Paul Martin's narration) lied when they said the possibly lifeless boy was wrapped in a shroud and cradled at home before going to the hospital.

Just fling the email out here like raw meat. The snapping of jaws, the tearing of claws. The carnage...

I figure Mr. Martin to a look at the current thread yesterday, saw the lion's den he was walking into and decided that he was needed elsewhere. I'll give him one for smarts, nada for balls.

Well, I'm gonna cut him some slack. Not everyone is born to be a lizard. More's the shame, maybe he could learn something by lurking for a while if nothing else, but I can see how it might be a shock to his system and obviously, whatever it is he's doing, he's very busy at it right now.

How can Bill clinton and obama not be terribly jealous of George W. Bush who has this wonderful iconic father - fighter pilot, hero, ambassador, CIA director, president, philanthropist, adventurer - and they had their own horrible fathers mess of their lives - and it shows.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but George HW Bush was a torpedo bomber pilot- IMHO these people were the bravest of all WWII Naval Aviators since they flew low and straight directly into the enemy's guns to deliver their payloads.

And yes, the relationships all three men had with their fathers is telling in how they conducted, or will conduct themselves as POTUS.

I found the part you quoted from his e-mail to be most strange. Most strange. Here he is saying, basically, that after some consideration, they wish they had sent out different pieces of the film, only those parts that would have the most emotional impact.

Strange to me that he would admit that the purpose of this story was to have emotional impact, rather than straight factual impact. Wouldn't that then be an editorial and not a news story?

How ironic. Last night the wife and I watched "Eagle Eye." Don't want to ruin it for lizards who haven't seen it...well, the writer and director can do that for ya...but the bottom line is that the all-powerful, unassailable villain of the piece...controlling everything in the whole freakin' world....

well, all it takes in the end is to poke it with a stick.
