Dramatic video shot by the boy's older brother shows doctors trying to save the boy, his grieving family and the first part of a burial, IsraelINN.com reported. The family said the boy and a 14-year-old cousin were playing on their roof when they were by a missile fired by an Israeli drone supplied by the United States. But IsraelINN.com said Charles Johnson's U.S. blog Little Green Fields uncovered several alleged discrepancies:

GWB became the scapegoat for many who were looking for easy answers, couldn't find any, and decided to dump on the man in the hot seat.
Sadly, his own persona kept him from being able to respond to his critics. This hurt him, but maybe also hurt the nation. Having a president who is able to articulate well and convince the hearts and minds of people is essential.
I don't think GWB was a very good president, but he was far from the worse and did (does) not deserve the crap that is often thrown at him.

Helen Thomas is senile old moronic bag.
Because I think that Obama, during the campaign, made many promises, as every president, potential president does to Israel, that they seem somehow bounded by their promises, promises to uphold all Israeli goals.I don’t see how the US can provide F-16s, gunships, Apache gunships, phosphorus, possibly phosphorus, and cluster bombs and so forth to kill helpless people, children who are starving to death. They control the checkpoints. They control the arrivals and departures, supplies and people. And the Americans—President Bush has remained silent to that suffering. He has blocked by a veto at the UN any stoppage of the warfare, and he continues to supply Israel.

There are some things that he has done that I disagree with, but then again, I don't walk in his shoes and very few citizens will ever know the secrets that he does.
I wouldn't want the job of President, and even if we disagree with the man or (one day) woman who holds that office, we still owe it the respect that it deserves.
We all see how the job ages the holder. I wonder the burdens that these men have carried on their shoulders. Some we know but there are countless others we don't and never will.
So I wish him well. He kept me and my family safe post 9/11, and I am sure he made decisions that would leave the vast majority of us pulling our hair out in helplessness.
Thank you to George Bush for taking on the heavy burden of the most powerful man on the planet.

What date do you think that Obama will propose legislation to make him "President for Life". How long before the dems in congress decide that there are not enough taxes being generated so they will decide to simply confiscate all bank accounts and then dole out money to families on a "as needed" basis.

With Obama coming on Tuesday I guess we are screwed, I wonder how long before sites like LGF & shows like Rush will be shutdown by new laws. What date do you think that Obama will propose legislation to make him "President for Life". How long before the dems in congress decide that there are not enough taxes being generated so they will decide to simply confiscate all bank accounts and then dole out money to families on a "as needed" basis.
It may be time to move out of the country.
There is already a movement afoot to repeal the 22nd amendment which would take away the 2 term limit for presidents.

Sorry, but I always thought that people who called Bush "stupid" were ignorant and mean-spirited.

My friends, who are against 'organized' religion are strangely silent when it comes to the islamic bad guys. But they sure can hate Bush. It'll be a relief not to hear every conversation started with the phrase 'our appointed President.'

Because of the election mess Bush never had a chance at being universally adored no matter how 'bipartisan' he was. At his first inauguration he had garbage thrown at him as well as Laura.
As an Army wife of 20 years and whose husband served in Iraq, I can't express enough how deeply I respect President Bush. There is plenty I disagreed with him over...but I'm no boot licking democrat, so it's not likely I'll ever agree 100 percent with any commander-n-chief.

That's depressing.Speaking of which. At my company they are going to have the inauguration on tv and invited the employees to take time off from work to watch.
Now, I was there for the 2000 and 2004 elections. There was no inauguration break on tv.
As I was getting out of my car a few minutes ago, I heard a promo on Sirius hawking their "17 channels of inaugural celebration" coverage.
The first thing I thought of was, "Would they be running that ad if it were McCain being inaugurated next Tuesday?"
I think we all know the answer...

It's really hard to say. If Gore would take military Generals advise in how to win and let them have complete control(keeping stupids politics out of military decisions) then things would have been similar. Strengths:

3. Assertive
Weaknesses;
1. No pardon to the border agents
2. Cronyism(Obama will out do him)
3. Lack of propaganda to support the war.

Things being what they are these days, I'm pulling for Obama to be a fantastic, stunning success as president. If he can heave the country to its rightful place, I'll happily eat a bakery's worth of humble pie and -- by gum -- I'll vote for him come 2012.
Of course, I'll be shocked if he pulls it off.
I do have to admit, though, that what he's done so far has been more centrist that just about anybody expected. Maybe he understands the country is a bit riled at the moment and unwilling to put up with nonsense.
Well, I expect him to suck like a supermassive black hole. We will see who is closer to right in 4 years, if we haven't perished by then.

Obama is a one termer. There is no possible way he can do what he wants to do and be in any position to get reelected in 2012. In 4 years, we will be worse off then we are today.
Keep in mind the media created a "teflon Man" out of him. What ever was thrown at him for issues didn't stick.

I was a Democrat. Not a moonbat. I've always been very patriotic and pro-military. I also voted for Guiliani again and again despite the sneers and jeers of my liberal friends and ex husband. So I guess I was always a closet conservative. What 'facing the reality' all came down to was realizing the profound evil of our enemies combined with the lily-livered, blame-America liberals that I was surrounded by. It was a true awakening.

Refused to enforce our border. Oversaw the biggest theft in human history with the bailouts. Sorry, but keeping the nation safe throughout his term does not even come close to making up for the blundering idiocy of the rest of his eight year administration. I'll go even further here and make a Bill Maher like statement: This nation would have been better off with another 9-11 than the economic meltdown and fiscal mismanagement alone that we have witnessed under Bush and his thieving cronies. The latter has far more immediate and long term negative consequences for our country and future. I wish I had a time machine to take back my two votes for this moron. Good riddance Bush, get lost in the tumbleweeds of Crawford.

I think he is a great president. He carried the weight of office Noblely and made some bold decisions and stuck to them. In a rabid political climate. He will be the instigator of a moderate Islamic influence if there ever is one.
Strengths:
1. Strong
2. Smart
3. AssertiveWeaknesses;
1. No pardon to the border agents
2. Cronyism(Obama will out do him)
3. Lack of propaganda to support the war.My whole office is taking the day off to go to an Obama party in Bellevue. I have to find a way to get out of it so I don't frown the whole time. President Obama had better crap gold or all his personality cult is gonna be devastated.
What about spending WAY too much money, and not defending our border? Wimpy regarding the border agents, but what about how he backed off from using the term "Islamofascist" after using it for about a day? (Not exactly bold, and sticking to it.)
A "great president" anyway? I dunno. Maybe.

Your watch is very close at hand. You will soon know what its like to have the weight of the world solely upon your shoulders. Keep us as safe as we've been for the last seven years. At times I could not tell the difference between the liberal left and our "real enemies". I think you will find that most conservatives will wish you well...call it self serving if you want. Personally, I don't wish you half of the problems and contempt that President George W. Bush has had to face. Most of all remember the world is not your playground, our enemies are not to be taken lightly and watch your back...your most vigilant critics will be from your side of the isle.

But it didn't end with those tragic deaths (those real people, with real families, by the way, who have to live with that memory seared far deeper than it can be for you or me). After that we went to War in Afghanistan, and then Iraq fighting terror. Our Military went to protect your freedom, and to spread democracy. Soldiers, Marines, Airmen lost their lives fighting for that - and forever will their families have to live with a memory. I lost friends, people I loved in this conflict. There is a real chance I'll get the money that I've lost back - but I'll never get my friends back. Get some perspective here.

Actually, a lot of the Katrina fiasco was another case of media "instant revisionism." If I recall correctly, Bush started urging Blanco (LA governor) to declare a state of emergency as early as Friday evening (Katrina hit on Monday). There was actually a lot of coverage that weekend of Bush urging the state of emergency, and I believe that Nagin (NO mayor) was in agreement, but Blanco wouldn't budge. Nagin actually had a press conference where he told anyone who was staying and heading to the Superdome to take at least three days' worth of food and water WITH THEM - and we know what happened with that. Then the storm hits Monday - as a Category 3 - east of New Orleans. All of the reporting - ALL OF IT - on Monday was that "New Orleans had dodged the bullet." Then late Monday, the canal wall breached (NOT the levee - the canal wall), and by Wednesday, the media had rewritten the whole thing.
In spite of that, your point is well taken - FEMA is not and never has been a "first responder," and every emergency handbook out there tells people to be prepared for at least 72 hours on your own. It's too bad the administration didn't explain it better, but I think they wouldn't have been heard....

re: #440 mfarmer1
But it didn't end with those tragic deaths (those real people, with real families, by the way, who have to live with that memory seared far deeper than it can be for you or me). After that we went to War in Afghanistan, and then Iraq fighting terror. Our Military went to protect your freedom, and to spread democracy. Soldiers, Marines, Airmen lost their lives fighting for that - and forever will their families have to live with a memory. I lost friends, people I loved in this conflict. There is a real chance I'll get the money that I've lost back - but I'll never get my friends back. Get some perspective here.
Fair enough. However, I feel that what has happened in the past few months with far outweigh all of that and more, negatively affecting far more people, perhaps for generations, perhaps even permanently jeopardizing our sovereignty and way of life than the current wars and the fallout from 9-11. That's all I am saying.

Actually, removing the 22nd amendment isn't such a bad idea. Not for Obama...if it were to happen whoever is President at the time should be excluded. Unfortuantly as soon as a President begins his second term he is almost instantly proclaimed a lame duck. It's not fair that so many congressmen with 20 plus years of service have so much more power amassed than the President. What would be even better are term limits on congress, since that will never happen removing the 22nd amendment would restore a bit of power to the presidency

I agree. First responders are local people who escalate to the Feds when something gets big. Not people who run away and avoid the issue while they loot.
The failure in New Orleans was clearly corruption and/or incompetence at the mayor and governor levels. One only need to look at the neighboring states for smarter people.

That's very true. I'm more and more reminded of the Carter years and his pessimism. I was in middle school at the time and my family owned and operated a funeral home where we also lived. Remember places of business were to keep their thermostats on 68 degrees? That was during the harsh winter of 78 and 79 and we froze our butts off. My dad went to the city council and tried to get exempted since we also lived in our business, but the request was denied.

I'm probably at odds with most here, but Bush can't get out of the White House fast enough as far as I'm concerned. Biggest spender of all time. Horrible leader. Destroyed the GOP.
Of course, as Dennis Miller says, "that's just my opinion, I could be wrong." Who knows, maybe after a few years or even months of Obama, the Bush years will seem like the good old days. We'll see.

I see you've been lapping up what the media is spoon feeding. Bush is far from the biggest spender of all time, that's just ridiculous. We had six years of robust economic growth under Bush and that's despite the media screaming recession for all 6 of those years. Saying that the country would be less damaged long term as a whole if we had had another 9-11 versus the fiscal fundamentals of our foundation being tossed aside wholesale by our elected officials does not mean I wish another 9-11 and death to our citizens. It means that the Bush Administration put all its eggs in one basket and let the country go to shit in the process. Gotta go, the guys in white coats are calling me.

My president is a good man.
We have all agreed and disagreed with his choices, views, and actions but I don't believe, even for a moment, that even the hardest-hearted critic of this man could believe, deep down, that he is and always has been a lover of this country that means everything to him. He has never had a moment of doubt in the greatness of America as a concept nor as a reality. There has never been a day he hasn't been proud to be an American and his love of our country inspires me to do all I can to remain to be a successful part of it.
That the White House staff will miss the gentle, good-humored leader who would always stop to greet every staffer is an inspiration to me.
That he is a man who sticks to his decisions and leads with firm authority inspires me to be clear in my actions as a father, husband, and citizen.
That he can hold his head high for the sake of those he leads inspires me to never look back, as the past might gain on me.
That he can move me look forward to the future is humbling in the face of all that may lay ahead.
Mr. President... the best thing I can do is try to be more like you, sir.
Thank you for your commitment to the country that is my home. I have never been prouder to be an American than this evening, sir. G-d speed you and love you and all of yours.

George Bush gave an eloquent farewell address tonight. Although he may be a liberal fiscally and may be criticized for reaching too far across the aisle to the Democrats, he kept America safe and secure throughout his 2-term Presidency.
Embedded in his address, Mr. Bush recalled lines from his speech following the grievous attacks on 11 Sep, 2001, "We will not waver...We will not tire...We will not falter...We will not fail". Mr. Bush kept that promise. Perhaps the most important and far-reaching promise any president could render; to secure the safety, well-being, and freedom of the people of America, and by extension, all countries whose citizens desire and define liberty to be the best they can be and to do the best they can do for themselves, their loved ones, and their country. And if Mr. Bush ever over-used one word, that word, peppered throughout all his speeches was "Freedom". May I say this: anyone accusing another of abusing that word "Freedom" is a fool!
I recall another speech by a Democrat, Mr. Zell Miller (Democrat- Georgia) delivered at the GOP Convention 01 Sep, 2004:
"I can identify with someone who has lived that line in "Amazing Grace," "Was blind, but now I see," and I like the fact that he's the same man on Saturday night that he is on Sunday morning. He is not a slick talker but he is a straight shooter and, where I come from, deeds mean a lot more than words. I have knocked on the door of this man's soul and found someone home, a God-fearing man with a good heart and a spine of tempered steel."
As a Canadian, I say thank you Mr. Bush, best wishes, and to quote that great comedian Red Skelton ending: "May God Bless".

Some of us here feel that Bush could have done so much good, but what good he has done (in a rather ham-handed, errr can't use ham, rather hummus-handed way, like making love to Islam right after 9/11) he rode roughshod over with both his managerial style ("trust me, an idiot hack like my friend Harriet will be a great Supreme Court justice") and his tendency to both want to be liked by Dems and his willingness to stab conservatism in the back to do it.

Ok, I'll bite. Where did I say that I wanted another 9-11?
See your #374
"This nation would have been better off with another 9-11 than the economic meltdown and fiscal mismanagement alone that we have witnessed under Bush and his thieving cronies."
Better, as in...
Better if we had 3000 more innocent deaths? Better if we had all the friends and families effected by 3000 innocent deaths?
Your paragraph above offers only two alternatives, another 9/11 or fiscal mismanagement.
You sir, according to your own statement, picked another 9/11.
Stupid piece of white trash shit, you are.

For me, the most important thing was the safety of this country.
And we have not been attacked, not for lack of people wanting to, or trying to, but because our President did what it took to make sure we weren't, regardless of what "people" had to say about it.

I hate to say it, but 3,000 deaths may pale in comparison to the shit that's coming down the road. Authoritarian states result in a much greater % of deaths and suffering than 3,000/300,000,000. We may yet yield a substantial part of our sovereignty to the U.N. and find criticism of Islam punishable by prison. We may find many consumer goods banned because of their effect on the environment. Advanced health care techniques and medicines may be banned because they're not available for everyone. Air travel may be nearly unaffordable to stop pollution. Conservative radio may be outlawed. Scary stuff.

President Bush did keep the country safe and if that is not the most important thing then what is. I hope someday we will learn of the many attempts to attack us that were not successful because the Bush players were able to stop them.
I am very much afraid it will be open season on Barry because he is so weak and he has this arrogant attitude that only he can make terrorists behave right after he makes the oceans stop rising.

I would pick another 9-11 if forced to choose. That still doesn't mean I want/wanted one for Pete's sake. The whole point is that Bush based his entire Presidency on "keeping us safe" and let the rest of the business at hand go to hell. And yes, 3000 innocent deaths I believe would pale in comparison to what has been done to this country with the bailouts, an equaling of the debt in three months which took two centuries to accumulate previously, etc. Nooooooo, I don't want 3000 innocents to die just to be clear. Nooooo, that doesn't mean that I think their lives are worthless and expendable. And it doesn't mean that there were/are/will be only two alternatives. How do you feel about the 300,000,000+ that now have to deal with the consequences of what has happened?
582 | rexatosis Thu, Jan 15, 2009 8:44:36pm |
I will miss President Bush, not because I agree with every decision he made, but because he understood his central constitutional obligation to the nation: To Protect the Union. He has been steadfast in his resolve and taken the fight from our shores to the enemy (if one wants to see economic destruction take a look at the history of fighting a war on one's own soil--see C.V. Wedgewood's "Thirty Years War." or Anthony Beevor's "The Fall of Berlin.") Presidents have to make tough decisions and follow through with those decisions. President Bush has done that. It is more than can be said for the vast majority of politicians in Washington on both sides of the aisle. I wish President Bush Godspeed as he leaves the White House.
583 | Ben F Thu, Jan 15, 2009 8:46:41pm |
He. Still. Doesn't. Get. It.
Heaven help us.
People given a free choice WILL NOT always vote for freedom. The Palestinian Arabs voted for Hamas. Hizb'alla did very well in the Lebanese elections, thank you very much. Virtually all Iraqi Shi'a voted for theocratic parties that want to implement shari'a, not freedom. And the Turks' elected leaders aren't anything for freedom-loving folk to cheer about either.
Even if we exclude the Islamic world, it's a dubious proposition. Consider Russia, where the populace favors autocratic rulers (there's actually nostalgia for Stalin).
Culture matters. American ideals, and even the ideals of the "Enlightenment," are not universal ideals. Blindness to that fact led to huge policy errors under Born-Again Bush; let's hope Obama has a firmer grasp on reality.

Over the last 8 years there were a lot of times that I disagreed with President Bush, but I am grateful for all the hard work that he did do when it came to keeping the country safe and the commitment he had to the armed forces. He had had no plans for international conflict when he came into office, but it was thrust upon him.
May you have a pleasant retirement, President Bush, all things aside, you have earned it.

I watched W's speech last night with a great deal of sadness. I am going to miss him a lot. Anytime I watch him speak I wonder "how can anyone hate this man?". What I am going to miss the most is his world-view, the limitless view of human potential, the pursuit of freedom for all human beings because it is a god given right. I fear that the era of "doing the right thing" is gone. My husband says that the Iraq war proved these ideas to be wrong, that people will not always accept democracy and freedom if it is given to them. However, if we diminish these values what will become of our nation. Americans are the most generous people in the world, because they believe in these basic ideals. Take them away and replace them with relativist drivel, and the dreams of our forefathers, the sacrifice of our soldiers will be wasted.
I don't think that Obama will be the end of the nation, but I fear his opportunism. He is not capable of "doing the right thing", when it may affect his public image. W didn't care about being popular, he just wanted to do his job the best way he could.

Thank You, President Bush, for your service, and especially, your conviction and composure while under fire.
Name me one Dem leader who could have displayed the courage and grace under fire, as has GWB, while sustaining the unrelenting and undeserved growls and howls from that most despicable mob - the MSM, the Dems, hollyweird, foreign allies, etc, that loathe the USA.
He was my Gov in TX and did a fine job, while working with the Dems. He cleaned up TX public education with their help, and lifted TX from the bottom of the US list to about 23rd. This revealed a man w/ a plan and the determination to execute it, without rancor.
First, he mandated that all teachers be tested for competency, and of course, the crowd of mainly minority teachers that screamed the loudest due to their questionable teaching credentials and certificates - were the ones that failed the mandatory Summer testing programs, and were flushed out the system. Then the precursor to "No Child Left Behind" was created with requirements in place to gage performance.
Now the Dems popo his US program that he worked w/ Uncle Teddy to pass, claiming that it causes "teaching to the test" by the usual bureaucrats and NEA types. As the tests gage reading and math, how wonderful that millions of public school children are at least learning the basics - along with how to hate the man who as President has done more for their education - than any Dem.
This little achievement is currently overlooked today, but, in time, it along with his resolve and major successes in his foreign policy, one crafted to protect the USA from demonstrative killers (the President's first duty under the US Constitution) will receive the recognition it deserves and silence many of his current detractors, IMHO.
Suffice to say - that when the USA needed most a man of character and conviction that would make the though decisions required to preserve this union in time of war - President Bush shouldered the mantle with courage, resolve, dignity, and the patience necessary to endure his critics for the greater good of this nation.
Contrast that to Bill Clinton, who waged his finger in anger at and lied to the American people over the high school high jinx he caught himself in, while he and his administration ignored repeated requests from our intel/military to capture, or kill a self-professed man at war with us, Osama Bin Ladin. Lay 911 at his feet, where it belongs and never forget the roles played in this sick chapter by Berger, Gorelick, Reno, Hillery, etc..
Also contrast GWB's repeated attempts to reform Fannie and Freddie starting in '03, that the Dems fought successfully for 3 years w/ party line votes, allowing Carter, B. Clinton, Raines, Frank, Dodd, Waters et al, to succeed in their illogical plan to provide home ownership (for votes) to those unable to afford it - at the expense of our financial system and now a global economic meltdown.
Yeah, they forced F&F to make the mortgages, and now how many IRAs, retirement accounts, jobs and legendary financial institutions are but a memory? Thank you George for attempting to avert this mess. History will revel these truths despite the attempts of the guilty and their media shills to obscure it.
Last night, in his farewell address, I was amazed at the composure and quite dignity displayed by President Bush. He's a far better man than I, for I could never remain so calm and composed for the sake of the success of his foreign policy and the security of the USA, in the face of such rabid, shrill, and destructive condemnation from those desperate for power.
I would have blown it with regular scorchers from the Oval Office that excoriated the worst of the jackals and hyenas, and pursued continued criminal charges against the NYT and any other media that revealed national security secrets, etc.. I would have fought the war at home against the abettors and appeasers of our enemies abroad - as hard as I executed it in foreign battles of war.
But that's just me. Thank you George!

President Bush is a failure, unless you consider the destruction of the Republican Party, the conservative movement, and the idea of limited government successes.
I voted for him twice, but now I'm disgusted with him.
Will he at least pardon Ramos and Compean? Doesn't look like it.
