Since moonbat ideology is based on the notion of hating America and everything it stands for, how will they cope with the fact that their candidate now runs America?
Consequently, I predict that moonbattism will soon begin to fracture and disintegrate.

Moonbattism arose in the aftermath of 9/11. Prior to that, it was either regular ol' liberalism, or run-of-the-mill communism.
9/11 fused the two into an insane ideology that we call moonbattism.

To further explain why I place Wilson ahead of LBJ. Wilson's administration started the expansion of the Federal government that would culmonate in the Great Society. That expansion was temporarilly halted by Harding and Coolidge, but started to ramp up again under Hoover. FDR had many Wilsonites in his administration (sound familiar?) who thought they could plan as well in peace as they had in war. A fair number of the FDR people then found their way into LBJ's Great Society, where they tried to finish the job. Without Wilson, there is no FDR nor LBJ.

Since moonbat ideology is based on the notion of hating America and everything it stands for, how will they cope with the fact that their candidate now runs America?
Consequently, I predict that moonbattism will soon begin to fracture and disintegrate.
The jury is out on the conclusion. Instead of you prediction, there is an alternative that goes like this......
President Obama is a victory for the culture of victimhood. The victimhood priests and priestesses will be in positions of power throughout the government and 'the victims' will be getting more and more of the spoils of their victory.
The victimhood culture will not disinigrate, but everything else will.
If this prediction is correct, it's may be time to ask, "If you can't beat em, should you join em?"

Obama and Biden will secure all loose nuclear materials in the world within four years. While working to secure existing stockpiles of nuclear material, Obama and Biden will negotiate a verifiable global ban on the production of new nuclear weapons material. This will deny terrorists the ability to steal or buy loose nuclear materials.

Iran
Barack Obama supports tough and direct diplomacy with Iran
...Iran to stop their illicit nuclear program, support for terrorism, and threats toward Israel. Obama and Biden will offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization, economic investments, and a move toward normal diplomatic relations. If Iran continues its troubling behavior, we will step up our economic pressure and political isolation. In carrying out this diplomacy, we will coordinate closely with our allies and proceed with careful preparation. Seeking this kind of comprehensive settlement with Iran is our best way to make progress.

Great article at "The New Majority":
It hurts. . .
Stay at home voters cost McCain the victory, NOT "Obamania".
How much of a role did the stay-at-home Republicans play in the defeat of John McCain? A good deal more of a role than “Obamania” played among the eagerly-heralded freshet of new college-age and black Democratic voters. When the numbers were tallied up, the actual increases in new Democratic voters among young people and blacks were surprisingly minimal. In the first place, although voter turnout in 2008 increased from 122 million to 127 million in 2004, that increase was short stuff compared to the increase – some 20 million – who showed up at the polls in 2004 over 2000. The number of black voters in 2008 nudged up, but only slightly, from 11% of voters in 2004 to 13%; and the under-30 vote moved upwards, but only marginally (less than 1%). The significant number was the fall in turnout by Republicans. In Ohio, the election’s bellwether state, Obama outscored McCain by 51% to 47%. But Obama’s majority was not a product of more or newer voters (in fact, he tallied only 45,000 more than John Kerry in 2004). It was because 275,000 Ohio voters who had voted for George W. Bush failed to vote for McCain, as overall voter participation in Ohio dropped 13% below the predicted level of 80%. “There seems only one plausible explanation,” concluded Michael Massing, “Many Republicans stayed home on election day.” The same trend prevailed nationally. While more minority and under-30 voters turned out in 2008, “this increase was offset by a drop of several million in the number of white voters.” They saw nothing to vote for, and they stayed home.
Possibly, they were discouraged by the omnipresent shilling for Obama by just about every mainstream media outlet. People aren't going to get up and wait in line three hours to vote, if they think their vote won't matter.

It's hard to believe that ther's someone with less class than the Clintons in the White House. But then I forget, this is the first genuine "hate America" President. If we thought the trashing of the White House in 2001 was bad, imagine if the Obamas need to be evicted in 2013? They may try to burn the house down.

re: #197 Lizard by the Bay
Sometimes I'm tempted to put FDR in the "all-time worst" category, but that wouldn't be fair in light of his later success as a wartime President.
FDR's wartime performance balances his depression performance. Overall, I'd rank him as mediocre based on the average of the two performances. During war, and once he lost the anti-business attitude (due to the need to win the war), he performed remarkably well. However, his 100 days and New Deal (gee, those sound so familiar now, who did I just hear them from?) aided and abetted the depression and made it worse than it needed to be. His anti-business attitudes and persistence on using lucky numbers were nothing short of moronic when the country needed a pro-business atmosphere and rational thinking.
I fear we may see some of this from BHO in the coming months.

Personally, I'm convinced that a stronger Republican candidate would have taken more votes, though I am not quite sure who this theoretical candidate would have been. No, what I meant was, before, 4 years ago, when I was still working for the DOE, a full time job, I still ran lights for all the shows (which paid) and occasionally acted in some of the shows (which paid) and off and on help design/build sets etc.
So, I got paid at the theatre for all my work, it just wasn't a full time salary as I am getting now. But of course now, I do a lot more, everything from cleaning bathrooms to running the shows.
So, if I go back to a programming job, I'll still have time to satisfy my love for live theatre but, be making a decent wage. At that point, any money from the theatre is fun money. Like for Europe.

Well, maybe some hope and change. I just got a phone call from a prospective employer, who I did an initial interview with almost 2 months ago. They want to see me as soon as they can set up a meeting with the team.
Programming job, and only 3 miles from where I live, in Golden. Er, Obama had nothing to do with this. It's my own hope and change. Since our audiences have slacked off a bit at the theatre because of the economy, I badly need something else to fall back on NOW, in case the theatre can't hold on to me.
I would simply go back to performing certain duties at the theatre on a per show/per need basis, like what I was doing before.

Great article at "The New Majority":
It hurts. . .Stay at home voters cost McCain the victory, NOT "Obamania".
Possibly, they were discouraged by the omnipresent shilling for Obama by just about every mainstream media outlet. People aren't going to get up and wait in line three hours to vote, if they think their vote won't matter.
That drives me nuts. The only way their vote won't matter is if they actually act on that thought. Then it does come true.........surprise.... ya freakin' numbskulls.
I live in California and I goddam voted. By that reasoning we ought to cede everything to the Democrats and just stop trying.....but then we also need to STFU and stop complaining about the results......

Jobs are getting really tight in the Denver Metro area. I can actually live on 10 dollars an hour salary, but even those kind of jobs are disappearing. That's what I am living on now. obama is going to make allies with the folks that matter in this world - not whats happened in the past.

re: #29 zombie
Since moonbat ideology is based on the fundamental notion of being an oppressed victim, how will they cope with the knowldge that they are now in change of the country -- that they are now the oppressors?
Since moonbat ideology is based on the notion of hating America and everything it stands for, how will they cope with the fact that their candidate now runs America?
Consequently, I predict that moonbattism will soon begin to fracture and disintegrate.
I hope you're right. However, considering the moonbats I know, it's also highly likely that they will see this as their time to purge society of "reactionary elements". Think speech codes, laws banning everything they dislike (from guns to eating meat) and "voluntary service programs" to make sure everybody is singing from their hymnal.
My guess is that whatever The One thinks will happen, his supporters on the left (including the Pelosi-Reid crowd in Congress) are already licking their chops in keen anticipation of 48 months of nonstop revenge.
And I don't see him having the intestinal fortitude to tell them "no". More likely, he'll rationalize it as "it was bound to happen sooner or later, and everyone will thank us in the long run". After all, he has already convinced himself that he will go down in history as The Man Who Changed The World.
But I doubt he has any idea what the world he creates will really look like.

And yet, except one person, all those I talked to said exactly the opposite. If they voted it was because of Palin, and those that didn't really thought about it after the choice of her as running mate was made.
The person who said he disliked Palin was an Obama voter from the get-go, and would NEVER have voted for McCain no matter what.

re: #295 Alouette
I would nominate Woodrow Wilson over LBJ.
Agreed. In fact, I've always considered one of the hallmarks of a genuinely "bad" Chief Executive to be a steadfast belief in the power of his rhetoric to "reform" other nations. A trait Wilson shared with Carter, and which I'm very much afraid is also true with The One.
Which is why my heart skipped a couple of beats when Biden made the famous "he will be tested" and "he'll do the right thing, even though it won't look like it at the time" remark. To me, one of the sure signs of someone too detached from reality to handle being POTUS is campaigning on their "crisis management" skills. Jimmy Carter did this, as did Bill Clinton. What this usually means is that the inDuhvidual in question will ignore developing problems in initial stages (when they could be easily dealt with) in favor of waiting until they blow up in a full grown stem-winder, because they believe that it is better for their "public" image to be constantly seen (echo chamber effect, please) Managing The Crisis!
The biggest drawback to same being that said inDuhviduals idea of "crisis management" is mainly concerned with admonishing people diplomatically, even when there is no evidence that the people causing the trouble know or care what our Fearless Leaders think of them. Rather like Wilson in the period from August 1914 to the Zimmerman Telegram, they tend to be permanently in what I call the "Ensign- Unleash The Testy Letter!" mode.*
/* Shamelessly stolen from the RHwebcomic "Nip and Tuck", specifically the "Roll Film/ Rebel Cry" serial- one of the best pieces of libertarian SF/space opera ever written, especially due to being just funny as h**l.
"Testy letters" cut no ice with Hindenburg or Kaiser Wilhelm. Anyone care to estimate their probable impact on Hamas, Ahmadinejad, & Co.?

What a sucky few months.
I just thank everyone here for helping keeping me somewhat sane during the past few months. I have been lurking, enjoying reading the comments here and hopefully I will get the courage to post more.

It's a ways off, but the 2010 census is coming. We need to have a little (legal) fun with it.
I'm sure they'll have the usual mishmash of racial categories, along with a 'fill in your own race' line.
I plan on writing in 'Human'. Or 'American'.
Some LOLcat spelling would be fun.

I've read the posting at LGF for several years. I've been reluctant to post any comments so this is my first. Please be gentle.
I have an oft neglected blog at [Link: nebraskarant.blogspot.com...] The story about the note left by President Bush for Barry is remarkably like the imaginary tale I wrote a couple of weeks ago. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

A little something for publishing geeks and DC-area lizards:
On Monday afternoon, while stopping by a Borders bookstore in suburban NoVa, I picked up a copy of DC's gay paper, the Washington Blade -- specifically, the "Special Inaugural Issue" that was distributed on Friday, 16 Jan. (Like the Village Voice and other non-gay "alternative newspapers," the Blade is a tabloid-format free weekly.)
Since the early '90s, the "adult" pages of the Blade with all the Masseur/Escort ads and 976 phoneline ads and adult-video-store ads as well as the half-page ad run every week by DC's "J/O Club" had been in their own self-contained section. This was originally done so that the Blade could be distributed to venues like public libraries and suburban chain bookstores minus this semi-pornographic content.
But in the 16 January issue, the "adult section" was no longer self-contained, but had been integrated into the regular page count. That is, adult pages were printed on the same sheets of paper (though not necessarily on adjacent pages) as regular "news" and (more importantly) paid non-adult ads -- thus making it a practical impossibility to remove the adult section for suburban venues.
I'm not sure if this was done as a nod to the dawn of the Glorious New Messianic Age, or for prosaic economic reasons. For those of you who aren't publishing geeks, note that a pull-out section necessitated that the paid adult ads plus unpaid adult content had to add up to a page count in some multiple of 4. Integrating the adult section means that if they only have, say, 5 pages of paid adult ads, they only need to come up with 1 page of unpaid adult content, rather than printing 3 entire pages of unpaid filler to create an 8-page pullout.
(LGF readers from the DC area may recall the name Karen Jo Gounaud, the self-styled "homemaker and pro-family activist" whose attempt to have the Blade removed altogether from Fairfax County Public Libraries led to the compromise of "segregating" the semi-porny content in a pull-out center section. Prior to that, if memory serves, the adult stuff had been at the back of the paper -- so that some of the NC-17 ads were visible on the exterior back page, and thus shared a sheet with the front page.)

Geithner Apologizes for Failing to Pay Taxes
[Link: www.foxnews.com...]
I just called and left a message for the Senate Finance Committee asking for the same tax deal this guy's getting.
Won't work, but I feel better.

I just wanted to know if Joe Biden is a smug prick, or if he just plays one on TV.

Don't leave messages, just be creative.
