I think the White House needs an exorcism, but to cast out the evil entity that moved in last Tuesday. Maybe there was more than one evil entity. I can just see WAB's head spinning around.
(NOTE- I'm not suggesting any actual action, except maybe making a nice animated "Exorcist" parody.)

In the alternative, they can simply hang a cinnamon broom over the doorway. This, at least, will make the room smell nice, versus burning sage which isn't a very pleasant odor. There may be a slight problem with the broom falling down and whacking Obama as it is fighting negative intrusions, but those are the risks you take.

Please be from The Onion... /damn!
I suspect it's not, since this process is rather common in the west here. My ex-wife, who was past Spanish and part Pueblo Indian, had our new house smudged with sage.
Where as I don't have any proclivities to the supernatural, I found nothing wrong with the process.
But, in the context that is being discussed in this article, I would say that a smudging of the White House, for the reasons stated, would not be in the spirit of what the ritual is all about.
Wrong motives all together.

Smudging is a purification ritual that not only clears away negative and stagnant energies but will also open up a space, inviting calm and serenity. I periodically give all the rooms in my home a good sweep with a sage wand. I will also sage the mattresses and cushions on our couches and chairs.I simply walk from room to room and sage any places I feel gunk might be hanging out (sink drains, kitchen cabinets, dresser drawers, etc.). If I were moving into a new home I would certainly give it a thorough smudging before moving in any of my belongings.
I would sage each room making sure I covered all four corners and also all closets and cubbyholes. I would also sage all entryways, doorways and hallways.
No worries. Barry will just break out the bong and clear all those negative energies away.

Any of a number of ornamental and medicinal plants in three genera of the mint family, Lamiaceae:
Salvia, a large genus
Common sage, a small evergreen subshrub used as a culinary herb
Perovskia, a genus of seven species, closely related to Salvia
Perovskia atriplicifolia (Russian Sage), a deciduous perennial grown as an ornamental
Phlomis, a genus of about 100 species of herbaceous plants, subshrubs and shrubs
Phlomis fruticosa (Jerusalem Sage), a perennial herb
Artemisia (genus), many of the species are often called sages
Artemisia tridentata, Sagebrush, Big Sagebrush, Common Sagebrush, Blue Sagebrush, or Black Sagebrush
Eriogonum jamesii (Antelope Sage, James's Buckwheat), a perennial herb of the knotweed family, Polygonaceae.
Krascheninnikovia lanata (Winterfat, informally called White Sage), a shrub of the goosefoot family, Chenopodiaceae.
Leucophyllum, a genus of evergreen shrubs in the family Plantaginaceae, often called sages
Leucophyllum frutescens (Texas Sage)
Tetradymia canescens (Spineless Horsebrush, informally called Black Sage), a shrub of the sunflower family, Asteraceae

Now wait a second! That's some serious historical energy hanging around. If she's right, and nobody's burnt any weeds in the White House (seriously doubting it hasn't happened), then we should have energy from lots of past presidents hanging around. FDR alone should have left enough spiritual energy to power D.C. for a day--like him or not, the man had personality plus.
On other hand, if burning weeds would wipe out all the old energy, nothing dates further back than the Clintons.

Avanti, are you ok with this?
No, it's silly that it was even suggested, and had it come from even close to the present administration I'd be going nuts. There are lots of rituals out there I don't get. For example I play Oriental poker at the casino's and you see all kinds of superstitions I don't get. If I sit down and the table starts winning, they won't let me leave, even slipping me chips to stay. (Good Karma)

That might be a large part of your problem. You need fresh, generally.
Fresh sage I use for cooking, and then only the "young" parts of the plant.
"Green" sage makes the fire way too smoky, so I only use that when the mosquitos are bad.

My ex-wife would be the one to tell you the differences on sage. Or any of my Lakota friends. As I said, I didn't have any problem with having my house smudged, but I didn't pay close attention to the kind of sage used.
I have a sage bundle in my apartment window right now, given to me by a Lakota friend when I moved in here three years ago.

MASTER !

I have been inside 10,000 years
and will grant you three wishes
but, since you are married
your wife will get 3 times as much as you
so wish carefully
fine, the guy says
for my first wish, I want to be the richest man in the world
but sir, you wife shall be 3 times richer
cool - hit me anyway genie
and poof, the guy is swimming in money
ok, cool, for my next wish, I want to be the best golfer in the world
ah, but master, your wife will be 3 times better
guy says, it's alright, hit me
so it is done
he grabs a club, hits hole in one after hole in one
then he sits there thinking, real hard
genie says, ok, what is your last wish
and think carefully, your wife will get 3 times what you get
the guys jumps up and says
give me a mild heart attack !

It makes sense that some people would believe this article. Obama is pretty much a blank slate, no experience whatsoever to interfere with whatever projection of themselves people wish to interpret from him. Thus, the centrists see a centrist, the communists see a communist, the shamans see another shaman.

I'll take your word for it. I've only known a handful of people who professed to be wiccan. Almost all of them claimed to be getting back to the worship of the Earth the way the pagan druids did it.
I don't know that much about it, but I knew that couldn't possibly be true. The records from the time the Druids were more serious about things only survives in broken, fragmentary form. There are a lot of blanks that just can't be filled.
You are a sensible man, IF.
Trust me, Wiccan theology is very much a modern invention. And it's not something I approve of.

241 | bosforus Sat, Jan 24, 2009 9:45:56pm |
Apparently it's some kind of a fad.
‘Cleansing ceremony' smudges Bovett
Lincoln County District Attorney Rob Bovett wanted his first week in office to herald a new beginning.Instead, a seemingly innocent “cleansing ceremony” muddied already somewhat troubled waters, and ended up with many calling Bovett guilty of violating the legal and political separation of church and state as outlined in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Bovett arranged for his friend Walt Klamath of Siletz, a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, to perform a smudging ceremony at the DA's office the morning of Jan. 5. Klamath is involved in keeping Siletz tribal traditions alive, among them smudging. In Native American tradition, smudging is a ritual way to cleanse a person, place, or an object of negative energies, spirits, or influences. The smudging ceremony involves burning sacred plants - generally sage, cedar, or sweetgrass - then either passing an object through the smoke, or fanning the smoke around a person or place. The spirit of the plant is said to purify whatever is being smudged.

I've heard great things about Gran Torino too - what's it about and how does it end (sorry, until solomonpanting's money comes in I can't afford to watch it myself!)?
Sorry, I won't say how it ends, so as not to spoil the plot for you or anyone who might see it.
Clint Eastwood plays Walt Kowolski, an ornery Korean War vet who's pretty much the only white guy left in a neighborhood in Detroit that has become mostly populated with Hmong immigrants. He inadvertently earns the gratitude of his Hmong next door neighbors when he intervenes to protect their son from a beating from a Hmong youth gang. He starts to get closer to the kid and his family. The gang wants revenge. Things escalate.

Now the thinking is going ...
ventilation at say the big vacation home in Hawaii,
bit of peyote smugging when just the ms and mr are there aloneget Zombie to vid, 2012 ,,, not a problem
Once took a tour of Hawaii with a native bus driver. He mentioned the several 1000 acres of pineapple fields to our rights leased to Dole and owned by the Mormon church, then again, the same to the left.
He said "I don't want you to think all our old land is owned by the Mormon church, up ahead is land owned by the Catholic Church" He closed with: "While they turned our eyes to heaven, they took the land from under our feet"
You should see the Mormon Temple there though, it is a beauty.

Taliban + Pakistan = Islamist Hell on Earth, from IHT (how'd that happen?):
Radio spreads Taliban's terror in Pakistani region
The police have become so afraid that many officers have put advertisements in newspapers renouncing their jobs so the Taliban will not kill them. One who stayed on the job was Farooq Khan, a midlevel officer in Mingora, the valley's largest city, where decapitated bodies of policemen and other victims routinely surface. Last month, he was shopping there when two men on a motorcycle sprayed him with gunfire, killing him in broad daylight.

And people said ole Kurt Warner was washed up.
Next people will start begging for Lawrence Taylor to rejoin the Giants.
According to his former coach Deny Green, when Kurt has time he's the best pitch and catch QB ever, next to Joe Montana. He's proving a lot to me.

Gee.....why doesn't he be a stand-up guy.....leave the office....plead guilty....and just go to prison for....awhile!

Cardinals are in the Superbowl. Ladies an gentlemen, hell has frozen over.
Looked them up on Wikipedia. 2 playoff wins in 60 years. Their last championship 1947, they had one prior to that in 1925 (how long has the NFL been around?)
And, get this, it's the longest currently running pro-football franchise. It was formed in 1898. Who knew?

I think the White House needs an exorcism, but to cast out the evil entity that moved in last Tuesday. Maybe there was more than one evil entity. I can just see WAB's head spinning around.
(NOTE- I'm not suggesting any actual action, except maybe making a nice animated "Exorcist" parody.)
I think an enema would be more effictive in removing the current resident of the White House.

Couldn't slog thru all the 500+ posts, so sorry if this is a rerun.
The immediate thought that went thru my mind was "That voodoo that you do so well..."
With apologies to Cole Porter and dedicated to the blue kool-aid drinkers:
I was mighty blue,
thought my life was through,
till the heavens opened,
and I gazed at you.
Won't you tell me, dear,
Why, when you appear,
something happens to me
and the strangest feeling
goes through me?
You do something to me,
something that simply mystifies me.
Tell me, why should it be
you have the power to hypnotize me?
Let me live 'neath your spell,
Do do that voodoo
that you do so well.
For you do something to me
that nobody else could do!
You do something to me,
something that simply mystifies me.
Tell me, why should it be
you have the power to hypnotize me?
Let me live 'neath your spell,
Do do that voodoo
that you do so well.
For you do something to me
that nobody else could do!
Since you came my way
I am bound to say
things I once thought gloomy
now both bright and gay.
I'm so happy now,
and I'm sure somehow,
of this transformation
there can be but
one explanation:
You do something to me,
something that simply mystifies me.
Tell me, why should it be
you have the power to hypnotize me?
Let me live 'neath your spell,
Do do that voodoo
that you do so well.
For you do something to me
that nobody else could do!
You do something to me,
something that simply mystifies me.
Tell me, why should it be

Let me live 'neath your spell,
Do do that voodoo
that you do so well.
For you do something to me

Budweiser commercial aired only on the first anniversary of 9/11. It was not to promote their product , it was a tribute to those who were lost.

That holistic healer is an idiot.
Clearing someone elses' "energy" is a fairly simple matter, magically speaking, and is fairly low-key.
At the risk of seeming intolerant, I'm going to point out that there's no such thing as magic. There's no right way or wrong way to do something that isn't real.

re: #510 Render
Awesome stuff but...
The original Bullitt Mustang was not a Shelby GT500 or GT350. It was a '68 Ford GT390. The bad guys were in a '68 Dodge Charger 440 R/T. The Mustang had to be modified a fair amount to stay with the Charger.
The engine and transmission sounds were dubbed from a full race Ford GT-40 at speed.
[Link: auto.howstuffworks.com...]
MY
STUFF,
R
Carroll Shelby was rather underwhelmed by the 390, which is why he put the 428CJ in the GT500 (he used the 427FE in the early '67s until he couldn't get anymore).
