Posted this on the overnight thread -

CAIR being sued by Muslims - accused of immigration fraud.

Former clients of [ CAIR ] are suing it for fraud. The Muslims say CAIR, which claims to be an advocate for Muslim rights, extorted thousands of dollars from them in a scam in which CAIR said it would help them get U.S. citizenship.

According to the federal lawsuit, CAIR directed an unlicensed lawyer to handle their immigration cases. The phony lawyer shook them down for their life savings and bungled their paperwork. When the victims said they would go to the media, the suit charges, CAIR's board threatened to sue them and forced them to sign releases.

GO CARDS!

Yes! There will be an 86 year old man watching, Charlie Trippi.
He played for the Chicago Cardinals from 1947 until 1956.
He was part of the 'Dream Backfield" that won the NFL Championship in 1947. The Great Jim Thorpe who was a Cardinal described Trippi as 'The best football player that I have ever seen"
I hope that he is at the Super Bowl & I hope that the Cards win for Trippi & my father.

14 DistantThunder  Sun, Feb 1, 2009 11:28:20am

Obama is backing the Steelers. Go cards.

15 Lincolntf  Sun, Feb 1, 2009 11:28:44am

Much like the others here, I think Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald are both good stories, and the resultant drama of their winning would be a big deal, but Pittsburgh looks so solid that I can't pick the Cards. I'll root for them, but I wouldn't bet on them.

Ford was several years into a long term recovery plan when the downturn hit. They were fortunate in that regard and have pretty much told the fed, "We would like to have the bailout available in case things get worse, but we don't need it right now."

I'm still wondering about some outrageous dealer markups I saw at Perry Ford in Poway on Fri. They had a Mustang GT500 KR and a Mustang GT Premium with better than $22k dealer markups. I didn't get a chance to ask why.

I wish Bruce would give up the populist posturing and go back to writing good songs. I get so tired of well-off people criticizing Wal-Mart, which makes it possible for working people to get what they need at low prices. But you don't dare deviate from the orthodox left.

I wish Bruce would give up the populist posturing and go back to writing good songs. The other day he apologized for having an exclusive arrangement with Wal-Mart for his new album (which sucks anyway). I get so tired of well-off people criticizing Wal-Mart, which makes it possible for working people to get what they need at low prices. But you don't dare deviate from the orthodox left.

When you read the lyrics, you can see his politics:

"Born down in a dead mans town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog thats been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the u.s.a., I was born in the u.s.a.
I was born in the u.s.a., born in the u.s.a.

We had to put out a memo in our company to stop all of the politics.
It was because the Obama people were being so obnoxious & aggresive it was becoming a hostile work environment.

That's sad. At the last office where I worked full-time (2004), I had a Beanie Baby elephant wearing a "Vote Republican" button. One of my co-workers was also conservative, while our boss and two other co-workers were Democrats. Again, nothing but friendliness and harmony.

Weird - I was just listening in the garage yesterday to KCBQ. They had an auto radio show on with a couple local guys hosting it. They were talking to the guy who did some after market mods to that car. Apparently they stuffed it with some wild shit.

UN admits that Israelis didn't hit Gaza UN school, after harshly criticizing it for doing so
from Jihad Watch by Robert

Will an apology be forthcoming? "UN Admits: IDF Didn't Hit School," by Maayana Miskin for Israel National News, February 1 (thanks to A.D.R.):

(IsraelNN.com) During the Cast Lead operation in Gaza, IDF tank fire near a United Nations school in Gaza was blamed for the deaths of dozens of civilians who had taken refuge in the building. The incident became one of the most highly publicized attacks in the war, and led to heavy international criticism.

Recent reports suggest that the incident was not accurately portrayed by senior U.N. officials. John Ging, the director of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Gaza, spoke to the Toronto Globe and Mail last week and agreed that no shell had actually struck the school building. Ging said he had never claimed that the school itself was hit, and he blamed Israel for confusion over where the strike took place.

Shortly after the alleged attack, Ging harshly criticized Israel for firing near the school, saying he had given the exact coordinates of the compound to the IDF. He charged that the IDF had failed to avoid hitting the building.

While admitting that Israeli fire had not hit the school compound, Ging insisted it made little difference. “Forty-one innocent people were killed in the street... The State of Israel still has to answer for that,” he said.

While many Israel news outlets reported that the strike had taken place near the school, several international media networks reported that the UN school building itself was hit. The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs may have added to the confusion by releasing a report stating that Israeli fire “directly hit two UNRWA schools.”

Almost all reports said that the victims were primarily civilians who had fled to the school for shelter – a version of events cast into suspicion by the Globe and Mail report.

A teacher who was in the school at the time of the shelling reported that several people within the compound were injured, but that none were killed. Those killed were all outside in the street as the shells were fired, he said. Only three of those killed were students at the school, he added.

The teacher did not give his name, explaining that U.N .officials had told staff not to talk to the media.

The IDF responded to criticism over the attack by explaining that soldiers were simply responding to terrorist fire and did not mean to hit a civilian area.

When I was in college there was a guy down the hall that blasted Springstein music out of his dorm room. It was like the only think he listened to. The music was loud, the guy playing it a jerk. I used to wonder if he had any idea what the lyrics said or meant, considering where we were (RPI) and what it cost (a fortune).

It's been a rough winter here, and because we're all tired of snow, we've decided that we're not going to use the word "snow" for the rest of the year - we're going to call it "global warming". We got over a foot of "global warming" last week! We're supposed to get a dusting to an inch of "global warming" Tuesday!
