Hamas Steals Aid, UN Actually Notices

The thugs of Hamas have been stealing food and blankets and other aid meant for needy Palestinians for a long time, and it’s finally gotten so obvious that not even the United Nations can keep quiet about it any more.

JERUSALEM – A U.N. spokesman says Hamas police in Gaza have seized thousands of blankets and food parcels meant for needy residents.

Spokesman Christopher Gunness says Hamas police raided a U.N. warehouse in Gaza City on Tuesday evening. He says police snatched 3,500 blankets and more than 400 food parcels.

The aid is vital now because Gazans are facing hardship after Israel’s three-week military offensive against Hamas.

Meanwhile, after screeching to the heavens that Israel committed war crimes and deliberately targeted that school in Gaza, the UN now says, “Oops, our bad.”

The United Nations has retracted a claim that an Israeli strike which killed more than 40 people in northern Gaza city of Jabaliya last month hit a school run by a UN agency.

“The humanitarian coordinator would like to clarify that the shelling, and all of the fatalities, took place outside rather than inside the school,” the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs said in its latest weekly update on the situation in Gaza.

What about all those wire service photographs showing pools of blood and bodies inside the school? Can anyone say, “staged?

Ahmad Kurd, the Hamas official in charge of the ministry, did not deny the aid was seized, charging the U.N. was giving the aid to local groups with ties to Hamas opponents.

Some international donors have expressed concern that funds meant to rebuild Gaza could fall into the militant Islamic group's hands, and the U.N. had been trying to calm those fears.

Yeah, nothing to worry about. The UN can use the more moderate Fatah of Arafat to emphasize that fraud is of little concern.

Just a few short paragraphs.

After days and days of MSM led sensationalism and endless charges in the UN, mass and violent and fascist Hamas/Iran backed demonstrations throughout the world and the UNWRA spokesman screaming on the BBC and CNN that he is 99.9999999999% sure Israel targeted the school without reason, that further demonized Israel and recruited more members to Al-Quida than 9/11, all we get is a quiet few paragraphs.

Vladimir I. Lenin spoke about the capitalist willing to sell the rope that would hang him. Hashem had the mercy to take him, perhaps assisted by his successor, in 1924.
He never spoke about a government SO EVIL it would steal blankets from its own people to re-sell them as "taxation" the HARD WAY.
And HAMAS of course governs in accordance with Sha'aria. Draw your own conclusions.

This is the UN Press release from their UNRWA homepage.

UNRWA Condemns Confiscation of Gaza Aid and Demands its Immediate Return

East Jerusalem, 4 February 2009

At 1430 on 3 February over 3,500 blankets and 406 food parcels were confiscated from a distribution store at Beach Camp in Gaza by police personnel. This took place after UNRWA staff had earlier refused to hand over the aid supplies to the Hamas-run Ministry of Social Affairs. The police subsequently broke into the warehouse and seized the aid by force. The aid was due to be distributed to five hundred families in the area.

I like how they refer to the Ministry of Social Affairs as being Hamas-run, but don't use the same description for the police.
