Of course, it wouldn’t be a liberal wish list if it didn’t include something for ACORN, and sure enough, there is $5.2 billion for community-development block grants and “neighborhood stabilization activities,” which ACORN is eligible to apply for
I wondered on the last thread what this would entail.

As a former NASA intern, I would like to point out that NASA does do climate research. I worked in the atmospheric chemistry department there, where they do measurements on stuff like hydroxyl radical in the atmosphere. I don't think there are many other places that do the kind of research that they can do (I think there's one in Japan and another in Colorado). I'd probably guess because the measuring equipment is expensive.

The whole thing is a shell game.
You are exactly right about a shell game.
Senate Democrats, mocked over trying to stimulate the economy with $475 million to fight smoking and sexually transmitted diseases, removed the programs from the economic recovery package on Tuesday. But the money remains. And, yes, it can still be tapped to help smokers quit and to prevent the spread of STDs.
Under the revised legislation, the secretary of health and human services can dole out the nearly half-billion dollars on prevention of any disease, including STDs, and on a wide array of smoking-related ailments from cancer to hypertension.
"It's a shell game," said Sen. John Ensign of Nevada, chairman of the Republican Policy Committee. "That's why this bill needs to be stopped. That's just one of the reasons."

CBO: Obama stimulus harmful over long haul
President Obama's economic recovery package will actually hurt the economy more in the long run than if he were to do nothing, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday.
CBO, the official scorekeepers for legislation, said the House and Senate bills will help in the short term but result in so much government debt that within a few years they would crowd out private investment, actually leading to a lower Gross Domestic Product over the next 10 years than if the government had done nothing.
CBO estimates that by 2019 the Senate legislation would reduce GDP by 0.1 percent to 0.3 percent on net. [The House bill] would have similar long-run effects, CBO said in a letter to Sen. Judd Gregg, New Hampshire Republican, who was tapped by Mr. Obama on Tuesday to be Commerce Secretary.
So, who are we supposed to believe, Obama or the Congressional Budget Office?

Israpundit comes out strongly in favor of the neo-Nazi British National Party:
[Link: www.israpundit.com...]
From that link:
We do not agree with the BNP’s opposition to interracial marriage, but it is hard to condemn the BNP while many Jews oppose intermarriage with Gentiles
And:
Note that this piece does not even attempt to morally equate Israel and Palestinians; instead, it denounces non-assimilable Third World immigrants as the human refuse they are.
And:
We therefore contend that it is worthwhile to at least approach the British National Party with an alliance that would include the deployment of military-grade propaganda to expose the menace of militant “Islam.” We would also propose to the BNP an idea that would move it into the political mainstream while eliminating all vestiges of racial politics. The basic idea is that a person’s merit is defined by his or her culture as opposed to race or ethnicity. A person of Euro-American culture, such as a Hindu, Sikh, African-American, or Japanese, is “one of us” while a person of Islamic supremacist culture is “one of them.” This was clearly recognized by Rudyard Kipling, in an era when it was socially acceptable to be racist:....

No, but there may be global warming in that space we use to get to the other space. And if that space has too warm space in it, in the space of only a few minutes, a spacecraft could burn up in space, meaning the space that is between the outer space and the space down here.

What is just amazing is how quickly Obama's presidency is becoming Carteresque. If the arc of the Iraq war mimicked that of Vietnam but at hyperspeed thanks to the 24-7 news cycle and the blogosphere, then Obama becoming Carter has happened in the mainstream media bubble even faster.
The moment Burris was seated over Obama's objections, Congress knew how quickly it could roll Obama. If Obama hadn't caved to Burris and the race card, Obama might have a clean stimulus bill that Republicans would have no choice but to support The fact that all 184 Republicans in the House and 11 Democrats decided that not voting for this turkey of a bill in the middle of the most serious recession since 1982, should have told Obama something. Obama needs to go back to the House and tell them. "Give me a clean bill, no pork, that Republicans and Democrats will support." Otherwise, he's pretty much finished.

The announcement will not be made until after President Obama meets with the families of victims of terrorist attacks on 9/11 and on the U.S.S. Cole, where he will assure them that this step is not being done to be lenient towards al-Nashiri. The move is being done to stop the continued prosecution of al-Nashiri in a court system that his administration may ultimately find illegitimate, not for any other reason, sources told ABC News.

If enacted, the Senate stimulus bill would fund over $100 billion in new government construction projects with the goal of providing additional jobs to unemployed Americans. This isn't the second half. The STIMULUS being debated now is a brand new bail out topping 900 Billion which is in addition to PART A of $350 Billion (Total $700B) which is somehow in the banking system AND in addition to the the unspent Part B, of the $700 Billion which is another $350 Billion.
First Bailout: $700B
Part A - $350 spent
Part B - $350 unspent
Second Bailout - $900B being debated

Call your senators. Please. Regardless of party affiliation. It is easy. Google their name if in doubt of how to reach them. This is powerful.
Call, don't fax. Make a simple statement of your position, I did - "This bill is a knife to heart of the liberty of me, my kids, and my grandkids. Take the lead and oppose this bill please."
That is it. You are on record. They do keep score.

I have already written to both of my senators about this "stimulus" package in it's present form. My main points were that voters are angry and tired of business as usual during this economic crisis. We need leadership, not the usual Democratic pork and spend programs.
I have written more letters to my elected leaders in the last few weeks than I did during the entire 8 years of the Bush presidency. At this rate I may need to hire a secretary, the volume will surely increase as the months and years drag on.

re: #122 ArmyWife
Good evening! I have a leadership suggestion for The One. Let's get this stuff in a spreadsheet and go line by line showing 1. the item itself 2. the cost 3. the number of jobs created as a direct result, for this we want immediate impact and not any multipliers and 4. the ROI in 12 months time, and 18 months time. This spreadsheet can be posted on the internet, and included in the tool kit for the "house meetings".
How can we expect this when 0bama's promise of a ''5 day Sunlight before signing any bill'' was broken today?
I don't think he even waited 5 HOURS!
Spreadsheet?
He's consider it a gross waste of time!

How much is awarded in the Federal Pell Grant?
The amount of the Pell Grant varies from $400 to $4,050 (annual figure) depending on the student’s eligibility. The Pell payment schedule issued by the U.S. Department of Education will determine the official Pell Grant amount. The awarded amount per term is contingent upon the credit hours in which the student is enrolled.

The Federal Pell Grant Program provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate and certain postbaccalaureate students to promote access to postsecondary education. Students may use their grants at any one of approximately 5,400 participating postsecondary institutions. Grant amounts are dependent on: the student's expected family contribution (EFC) (see below); the cost of attendance (as determined by the institution); the student's enrollment status (full-time or part-time); and whether the student attends for a full academic year or less.

After all, Zawahiri reasoned, we can always kill ''apostate Muslims" later!

The Great Depression #2 coming up courtesy of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank and the rest of the rogues in the Democratic Party.
No, not a great depression. This time there will be enough social programs to keep most everyone fed and doing something, but we will be being fed by the collective, and supporting the collective.
In the depression, it happened and THEN they came up with the idea of the New Deal, based on the upcoming love affair that America was having over socialism.
So, it didn't really work, because it wasn't really in place. It was only the second world war that turned things around.
But this time, they are putting all the NEW DEAL sort of stuff in place ahead of time (as per what's happening right now) and then they will pull the plug.
And the collective will be in place to save us.
Dead sure bet.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a liberal wish list if it didn’t include something for ACORN, and sure enough, there is $5.2 billion for community-development block grants and “neighborhood stabilization activities,” which ACORN is eligible to apply for. Finally, the bill allocates $650 million for activities related to the switch from analog to digital TV, including $90 million to educate “vulnerable populations” that they need to go out and get their converter boxes or lose their TV signals. Obviously, this is stimulative stuff: Any economist will tell you that you can’t get higher productivity and economic growth without access to reruns of Family Feud.

Catholic school in MA. I distinctly remember the college-prep guys telling us that EVERYONE gets a Pell Grant, whether they need it or not. It may be incorrect info. now, but everyone I knew got one. $2,000 was the average.
As I said, I never got one. Yes, my parents did apply. Instead, I worked, and with a full-tuition scholarship graduated without loans.
Just on a note about FA and college--my husband went to a really expensive school. This is how they figured the aid: First they took all outside money you might be receiving--federal money and outside scholarship. Then they figured out what your parents could pay. (Or what they thought your parents could pay, which was usually really different from what your parents thought they could pay.) Third, they looked at their own internal donors, which they did have, and if there was anything left, they credited you with a "XYZ college scholarship" which meant they forgave the rest.
If your parents were rich, you were hosed. If they thought your parents were rich, you were hosed.
My husband ran into a problem his third year when they radically upped his parental contribution, and he had to work extra and take out loans to cover the difference.
Between that year and the next, we got married. I had just come off of a mission for the church, and had an income of $00.00 for the year before. Financial aid-wise, this was so beautiful that they actually made him bring in a copy of the marriage certificate to prove it.

My oldest daughter was a single mother and ended up getting a 2 year degree on the welfare reform that was "forced" on Clinton back in the '90s. She then got a Pell Grant, and got a 4-year degree in math and teaching. She now has a Masters.
The combination of welfare reform and Pell grants straightened her life out and she is now useful, productive, and doing as well as a high school teacher can do.
The only problem I have with including Pell grants in the "bailout" is that results are not provided for about 8 years -- 4 for the schooling, and another 4 to get settled into a career.
I would not oppose Pell grant increases as a "standalone" spending bill.

From the Financial Times:
The US Treasury on Wednesday opened the floodgates of government bond issuance, revealing plans for a record debt sale in February and more frequent auctions in the months to come.
The announcement came amid growing fears about US government deficits and sent the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note rising to 2.95 per cent, up from just over 2 per cent at the end of December.
The rise in Treasury yields has been pushing mortgage rates higher, complicating efforts to revive the economy. The US Federal Reserve said last week it was “prepared to” buy Treasuries if that would be a “particularly effective” way of reducing private borrowing costs.
To someone like myself, who knows next to nothing about economics/finance, this seems bizarre. You have one part of the government issuing debt, and another part of the government buying up that debt. Why not just skip the issuing of the debt and call it a day?

Look for the decriminalization of possession of small amounts in a few years.
Judging by recent news items, the way to eliminate the drug problem in this country would be to take all the drugs that are illegal now, legalize them, and then tax them heavily (you know: $750 tax on an ounce of marijuana, and so on up to, say, $3000 for crack cocaine)!

I just taught a bunch of boys about Sir Robert Baden-Powell. I believe in scouting, and I believe this man did a wonderful thing in constructing an organization that teaches boys how to succeed and how to channel their energies in constructive and great ways.
Not that I got into this with the boys in depth, but Baden-Powell was taken in by fascism. For him it was a reaction to communism, which he hated. He died in 1941, so we never got his post-war reaction. (He was also fairly old by WWII). The Germans, incidentally, hated him and his name was on the arrest list. Even if he didn't see that the values of scouting stood in opposition to fascism, they did.

To answer your question about what good are the atmospheric chemistry departments of NASA, I'm not going to get into a debate about whether humans cause global warming or not. However, we can all agree that it's important to keep an eye on stuff like chemical imbalances in the atmosphere, regardless of whether this is naturally occurring or whether it's stuff that man is putting up there. If we didn't, we wouldn't know about the ozone layer and holes in it. Either way, these sorts of programs are to monitor these things, try to identify problem areas, and so on. Since so few places do it, it's good to have another place that can double check or disagree with the numbers that other institutes put out.

The whole higher education financing system is a scam. Scam is not an overstatement.
If "Johnny" can only afford $5,000 a year for college and Acme University charges $10,000 a year, then Acme gets U. gets $5,000 from the Government (or Government backed loans).
That was the scenario twenty years ago.
Nowadays, Johnny can still only afford 5 grand for college, but tuition is $22,500, so the College gets $17,500 from the Government.
Tuition prices have trebled in the last twenty years, does anyone think that the quality of education has? The only way such a market perversion occurs is through Government interference. Loans are traps.

OT: Finally! Good global warming news!
Antarctic Meltdown Would Flood Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C., and other coastal U.S. cities could find themselves under several more feet of water than previously predicted if warming temperatures destroy the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, a new study based on a model predicts.
The West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) towers about 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) above sea level over a large section of Antarctica. It holds about 500,000 cubic miles (2.2 million cubic kilometers) of ice, about the same amount of ice contained in the Greenland Ice Sheet.
This vast swath of ice is the anchor for numerous glaciers that drain into the polar sea and is bounded by the Ross and Ronne Ice Shelves. Whether or when this ice sheet might melt is still very uncertain, but even a partial melt would have a bigger impact on some coastal areas than others.
The new research found that sea level rise would not be uniform around the globe, owing to odd gravitational effects and predicted shifts in the planet's rotation.

In order for that to happen, Dems are assuming that in order for more people to go to school more money will be needed for Pell Grants, etc.
Now we also know that as people have more education, they also have a higher salary income than without that education. So the Dems are saying that the Pell Grant reaps rewards beyond just the school getting money; people are helped to increase their salaries after college.

No. 15 billion is excessive.
That's why I indicated I would support an increase as part of a stand-alone legislation. The pros and cons of how much increase could be debated. We would be able to separate the amount of loans currently given by traditional means, and how much money is disbursed for "special needs" situations, and make decisions accordingly.
I wish they had been available in '74. I could have used one, and would have qualified for one. I also started out with "zero assets", except for the G.I. Bill.
Your point is one I'll be discussing with my daughter soon. My granddaughter is currently 15. I'm afraid that the monies will be misspent badly enough that in 3-4 years, the funds will be completely unavailable.

I, as a nontraditional undergrad who worked a few years before going back to school, was never deemed eligible for Pell or any other type of grants, because I earned too much...worked full-time in Nashville (where I live) while commuting 40 miles (one-way) at least 3 days a week and taking a full-time course load for five years (2001-2005) at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville.

What pisses me off more than anything about American universities is that they won't open up their own vast (understated) coffers to help with student costs. Many schools are sitting on hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars and are still trying to suck the public out of more money.

I love this! I don't know how to tell you, but this is way over his head and most of the Democrats in congress. As far as any return on investments go--haven't you gotten your unicorn?

Exactly and precisely. I'm NOT against the government helping those who are qualified to go to college from helping them do so, but why the hell is this in this "Stimulus Package"?
Other than to win new converts to the Obamessiah, I mean.
That seems more likely. Although, here's a question that cannot be answered quickly: Are the Pell grant upper limits for students tracking the rate of inflation for increases each year? Or is that handled separately?
I ask because school tuition rates have gone up more than the rate of inflation, so Pell grants may not have kept up the pace and therefore while a Pell Grant in 2005 may have covered, say, 50% of a tuition cost, today that could instead only be 40%.

Has anyone else heard this:
**SNIP**
Military Commission to withdraw charges against terrorist suspect Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri. The charges may later be reinstated in a military commission or pursued in a civilian court. Al-Nashiri will remain in custody.
President Obama has expressed concern about whether the military commissions set up by the Bush administration are the proper way to go forward in pursuing charges against the U.S. detainees, and on January 22 he asked all the judges supervising the trials of detainees for a continuance of 120 days, so a team of administration officials could review the best way forward.
In almost the cases, that continuance request was granted. But last week the judge supervising the al-Nashiri trial -- Army Col. James L. Pohl, the chief judge at the Guantanamo Bay war crimes court -- said he would not heed President Obama's request for a 120-day continuance, or delay, in prosecutions of terrorism suspects. Pohl called the president's request "not reasonable" and not "in the interests of justice."
The arraignment of al-Nashiri is scheduled for Monday, February 9.

Howdy.
On the thread topic, Taranto noted today:
Especially because President Obama himself, in a Washington Post op-ed, admits that the so-called stimulus is not just about stimulating the economy in response to an emergency:
"This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending--it's a strategy for America's long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, health care and education."
So Obama himself admits that the "stimulus" package is a giant liberal agenda boondoggle. But, you know, if we don't do exactly what he says, when he says it, we'll be in a permanent Depression, forever and ever, amen.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson's campaign is shooting back:
Hutchison's campaign spokesman, Todd Olsen, said the letter reads like something the Perry campaign, not Palin, wrote.
"I don't know that Governor Palin would have said that about a governor who had, via executive action, required teenage sixth-grade girls without their parents' permission to be required to take an HPV vaccine," Olsen said, referring to Perry's executive order in 2007 that required shots against a virus that causes cervical cancer. The Legislature overrode his mandate.
Olsen said Palin would find wide support from Hutchison among GOP women. They "just think Kay Hutchison is a superstar and they are overwhelmingly endorsing Senator Hutchison."
"We look forward to Governor Palin's endorsement, after the primary if not sooner," Olsen said.

The increases in Pell Grants and other federal aid actually cause tuition to increase, not the other way around.
Every time they raise the limit on grants or loans, the schools raise the tuition by that much, plus a little more.

FAIR, CIS and NumbersUSA are all part of a network of restrictionist organizations conceived and created by John Tanton, the "puppeteer" of the nativist movement and a man with deep racist roots. As the first article in this report shows, Tanton has for decades been at the heart of the white nationalist scene.
This Tanton fellow sounds to me like he's aspiring to be a nativist version of George Soros.

One of the worst elements of this spending spree:
REWARDING STATE IRRESPONSIBILITY
One of the ugliest aspects of the stimulus package is a bailout for spendthrift state legislatures. Remember the old fable about the ant and the grasshopper? In Aesop’s version, the happy-go-lucky grasshopper realizes the error of his ways when winter comes and he goes hungry while the industrious ant lives on his stores. In Obama’s version, the federal government levies a tax on the ant and redistributes his wealth to the party-hearty grasshopper, who just happens to belong to a government-employees’ union. This happens through something called the “State Fiscal Stabilization Fund,” by which taxpayers in the states that have exercised financial discipline are raided to subsidize Democratic-leaning Electoral College powerhouses—e.g., California—that have spent their way into big trouble.

Did anyone, in your wildest dreams, think Obama would rush to Socialism THIS fast?
This is where the term "the hustle" originated. (no, no not the dance craze. shut up)
This is the time during a scam that the mark is kept busy with trying to keep track of stuff that has no bearing on the important thing -- the money. He's bombarded with rapid fire frantic speech and confusing directions sometimes even physically pushed along/around. All the while the actual money is being switched out for bad or hidden and a container that is supposed to have the cash in it is produced. In magic it's called "patter" this is where the performer chats up the audience, makes them laugh, directs their attention elsewhere while the target object is palmed or hidden. Then after a whirlwind of action and talk all of a sudden the deed is done and the mark is standing there with an empty wallet/envelope/handkerchief and the "players" have all disappeared.
This is what the Osshole is doing now. Get the stuff out there now while the media is still in love with him (you remember the beginning of a love affair? When you do anything and overlook anything for the object of your affection.) and isn't asking the right questions cause THEY WANT TO BELIEVE but deep down they know he's going to break their hearts.
His goal is to get the money approved NOW then deal with the fallout later when it's too late to stop.

These people are complete morons. It's not even that the fascists will turn on them -- they will, of course -- but they're turning themselves into something no decent person will want to be associated with. They think they're making alliances of necessity, when what they're really doing is turning the so-called 'anti-jihad movement' into a laughable, racist pile of shit.
I'm utterly disgusted with all of them.
As much as your analysis of what's become of the anti-jihadist blogosphere as of late saddens me, I'm with you...and I'll take it further: F**k them!
If they want to be f**king blind and stupid (or worse, willing and able) enough to side with neo-Nazi and white nationalist thugs under the aegis of fighting Islamism, then we just have to be louder and stronger in presenting our belief that we don't need to sell our souls by joining with fascists to fight (ever-encroaching) Islamism.

Howdy.
On the thread topic, Taranto noted today:
So Obama himself admits that the "stimulus" package is a giant liberal agenda boondoggle. But, you know, if we don't do exactly what he says, when he says it, we'll be in a permanent Depression, forever and ever, amen.
Which would suit Dear Leader fine, since it would virtually ensure perpetual Democratic rule for as far as the eye can see...
534 | Miss Molly Thu, Feb 5, 2009 5:59:58pm |
The Dems can pass this package in 2 minutes if they want to but they are afraid of the backlash when it doesn't work and they need a gazillion more dollars to make up for their mistakes -- not to mention they would have to take the blame for failure.
Obama seems to have lost his cool over the Republicans talking back. Apparently they didn't get the memo that he is "the One" and the Republicans and some Democrats aren't doing what he told them to do. And, of course there is always the lack of support for this package. I think I heard that Obama's package has only 37% support now -- something in the 30's-- and people just aren't doing what he tells them. I wonder if he has figured out he is in way over his head.

Lenin, and Stalin who followed him were certainly not anti-Industrialism. Indeed, their goals as Communists were to industrialize the Soviet Union. The means of production were supposed to be Owned by the State, not done away with entirely to satisfy some quixotic anti-Industrial purists.
Russia was an incredibly backwards place at the time of the Russian Revolution. The gap between the well off and the poor masses was a chasm. He was a product of his environment. His changes did really benefit a lot of Russians, although it wasn't too hard to do that given how badly most lived. That said, I do rather enjoy private property and certain trappings of elitism (i.e, ladies in corsets and ballgowns ;-> ).

My head spins when I look at the line item allocations of this proposed spending blitz. We will never be able to have an accountable fiscal budget that is not in the red for our great grandchildren's lifetimes. This is so appalling and a direct slap in the face and pocketbook of each and every citizen that has ever worked and contributed tax paying dollars to this government to manage this country.
I am so ANGRY at this 111th Congress and at the POTUS and his "expert" finance committees. They are NOT representing us, the majority, any longer. They will not be able to print new fiat money fast enough to meet the oncoming inflation as a result of this ludicrous porkfest spending. This is a travesty to us and our country, and will cause the devaluation of our US dollar both here and abroad.

The Democrats and media just about have the population conditioned to shrug even a betrayal of this magnitude off. We'll see...
Most younger people today have no idea what is wrong with socialism. "Sharing the wealth" always sounds like a good idea to people who want to be kind to the less fortunate. The problem with socialism, however, is that it destroys the conditions that lead to the expansion of wealth--i.e. Americans are wealthier than many other people because we (1) don't have feudalism and (2) don't have socialims. We have free enterprise.
They don't teach this in American schools.

Night Lizards, I'm late for the party and I certainly agree with most of the sentiment about this bill. What pisses me off though is that an increase of $ 50 million for the endowments of the arts is on top of the list of "wasteful spending"
This is a great nation, and I joined it voluntarily, not to take part of government programs (coming from Germany, I do know a lot about those) but to chase and fulfill my dreams.
That said, the USA is one of the few countries in the world not to have a cabinet post for culture/arts. Looking at history, and art history of the past century in particular, let me tell you all that the US would not have any leading artist to speak of today without the pre and wartime government programs which employed artists like Pollock, de Kooning, Rothko, Gorky and hundreds of others to create public art during the most difficult economic times.
This was the incubator for the leading position of US artists in the post war world, without these programs the US would not have a fine art legacy of the 20th century.
Compared to $4.2 billion for “neighborhood stabilization activities” a pale 50 million increase for the endowment for the arts should not even be on that list.
Uhm, and yes a world leading country of the magnitude of the USA should have a cabinet post for culture/arts.
We have to understand that art is not a business and it needs patrons, private and public.

If I don't want to pay for it at a galley, why would I want to pay for it via my taxes? More importantly, why should I be forced to pay for it? If it's so valuable, why wouldn't anybody want to pay for it in a free market? The answer is that art IS a business, and people DO pay for it in a free market.
As to a cabinet position, in a free society you don't have a person in charge of "culture".

What about looking at it in a Museum?
Aren't you benefiting from the generosity of others?
Don't worry your taxes are being used to bail out City and GM, and not for buying art.
And yep in a free society we have a cabinet position for business, don't we?
What is it with you that the Endowment for the Arts is enraging you so much?
Culture / Art doesn't matter to you? How about science? Is that a business too?
With your take on things only things you'd like to buy have a right to exist?
That's a bleak world you're living in. Go pay for some more Super Bowl ads, that's the culture you deserve.

$50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts
$380 million in the Senate bill for the Women, Infants and Children program
$300 million for grants to combat violence against women
$2 billion for federal child-care block grants
$6 billion for university building projects
$15 billion for boosting Pell Grant college scholarships
$4 billion for job-training programs, including $1.2 billion for “youths” up to the age of 24
$1 billion for community-development block grants
$4.2 billion for “neighborhood stabilization activities”
$650 million for digital-TV coupons; $90 million to educate “vulnerable populations”

"Since the first "bailout" left 80 billion untraceable dollars, imagine the results of trying to trace $15 billion expansion of the Pell Grant program, $380 million in the Senate bill for the Women, Infants and Children program, $300 million for grants to combat violence against women, $2 billion for federal child-care block grants and so on, and so on, ad nauseum."
All of these beneficiaries of Democrat largesse are essentially just sub-branches of the Democrat party, who will funnel the money back into the Democrat war chest(s) so they're basically giving the money to themselves.

Look for: our military budget to be decimated, weapons technology buried in rust, scrapped like an unsalvageable Edsel, the CIA soon to stand for Cannot Investigate Anything, a rising army of government-run community organizers to surpass our dwindling military numbers, all taxes will by necessity have to be increased in Democrat theory to pay for 'the plan', America will play a similar swan-dive role as the one seen with the 'death' of the USSR, we are next and our POTUS is leading the charge with the help of anti-American pundits from here and abroad, watch for our Europeanization in a disturbing accelerated fashion from the top down, we will become even more dependent on foreign oil, monetary resources will be further depleted once we join Kyoto Agreement, look for China and North Korea to flex like not seen since the Korean War, nuclear weapons will become commonplace with our Middleast enemies, the global warming hoax will cost us, our children and our grandchildren billions upon billions of dollars despite all evidence to the GW contrary, our national security will be deferred to the UN, perpetual lease potential of Guantanamo Bay will be ended by a Castro-swooning Obama, we will become a socialist country...on and on.
