Flying Pig Alert: UN Notices Hamas Child Abuse

Middle East • Views: 2,911

Ladies and gentlemen, the pig has left the hangar: UN to probe Hamas for use of children.

The United Nations is ready to address Hamas’s use of children as human shields during last month’s IDF offensive in Gaza, the UN special representative for children and armed conflict told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

“We have not yet dealt directly with the human shield issue, but we will now mention it in our reports,” Radhika Coomaraswamy said in an exclusive interview following a four-day visit to the region.

“It is still very difficult for us to say that it was actually happening and we still need to conduct a full investigation into what exactly took place… but we are not denying that it happened; it is absolutely possible that Hamas was using its civilians as human shields,” she said.

They’ll blame it on the Zionists, of course. That’s UN after all.

An investigation of this magnitude will take years to confirm.
The possibility that it was IDF sneaking in and impersonating Hamas will be thoroughly looked into, first ….

Interesting that he would say”………but we are not denying that it happened.” Sounds like an inadvertent admission that the U.N cheerleads for Hamas & is therefore suspect.

…But we will now mention it in our reports…

When the murderous Jews came to the Paradise of Gaza in order to drink the blood of innocent Palestinian children, unconfirmed and unsubstantiated reports say a few brave fighters of the Resistance accidentally found themselves behind a martyred child. The Jews killed the children in their blood lust….

“Father, must I work to eat?”
“Oh, no, my lucky son,
We’re living now on Easy Street,
With dough from Washington.
“We’ve left it up to Uncle Sam;
Now don’t get exercised.
Nobody has to give a damn,
We’ve all been subsidized!”
“But if Sam treats us all so well,
And feeds us milk and honey,
Please tell me, Daddy, where oh where,
He’s going to get the money?”
“Don’t worry son, there ain’t no hitch
To this here noble plan.
He simply soaks the filthy rich,
And helps the common man.”
“But Daddy, won’t there come a time,
If we take all their cash,
When they’ll be left without a dime,
And things will all go smash?”
“My faith in you is shrinking, son,
You nosy little brat!
You do too damn much thinking, son,
To be a Democrat!”

I agree, I know for a fact all of those alleged Hamas fighters using women and children as shields were actually IDF agents dressed up like Hamas fighters! The evil Israelis will stop at nothing to make Hamas look bad!

The situation in Gaza is still “very raw because it’s only been two weeks,” she said, adding that many of the children she met there on Tuesday were “obviously very angry at Israel, but they have been guided that way by their parents and others.”

“My sense in Gaza is that after this conflict there seems to be greater identification with Hamas,” she said.

However, she stressed, “my observations are based on only a one-day trip
to the area, and many times children surprise us.”

The most surprising reaction from a child was during her visit to Ashkelon on Wednesday, Coomaraswamy said.

“The scale [of trauma and destruction] is nothing like in Gaza, but that does not take away from the fact that a lot of the children we met there expressed to me a great deal of fear,” she said. “We met a lot of children who were so traumatized that they did not even want to go to school.”

However, “While their speeches were quite tough at first, when I asked them if they were interested in meeting Palestinian children, the response was unbelievable. They said, ‘Yes, of course we want to meet with them and play with them or hear their stories.’ It was a response from the heart,” Coomaraswamy said.

“It is still very difficult for us to say that it was actually happening and we still need to conduct a full investigation into what exactly took place… but we are not denying that it happened; it is absolutely possible that Hamas was using its civilians as human shields,” she said.

It meant the UN official has not admit to the fact they got very big problems on their hands: complicit in aiding and abetting a terrorist group like Hamas for years.

53 Last Mohican  Sat, Feb 7, 2009 9:00:40am

It is certainly a flying pig moment whenever any organ of the UN admits that any anti-Israel terrorist group even may have done something a little bit bad.

Nevertheless, much of this article is devoted to Radhika Coomaraswamy’s implications that UN officials should be allowed to work with Hamas, because this might permit more humanitarian aid to be delivered to the children of Gaza, and her explicitly placing blame on Israel for not allowing more UNRWA aid trucks into Gaza:

the children are still in urgent need of assistance, including the restoration of basic services and the immediate reconstruction of schools and hospitals… UNRWA says that in order to avoid a crisis it needs roughly 400 aid trucks a day, but at the moment only about 130-140 trucks are allowed in to meet with humanitarian needs…

Me personally, I think the children of Gaza are “in urgent need” of a government that doesn’t use them as human shields, launch rockets into a foreign country from bases in elementary schools, and steal the food and blankets that UNRWA sends them to be sold for a profit. It would also be nice if UNRWA didn’t lie to the press about supposed Israeli attacks on its schools in Gaza, and forbid the teachers at those schools from telling the truth.

This is the same UN that has made a habit of anti-Israel resolutions as a recreational sport in the General Assembly. This is the same UN that routinely claims Israel engages in violations of international law and other such blatherings - up to and including inventing bogus stories out of whole cloth (such as the school incident during Operation Cast Lead). This is the same UN that blames Israel for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza even as UNRWA now blocks the same kind of aid that Israel has blocked - for the same exact reasons - that Hamas steals humanitarian aid so that it can distribute it themselves and make money/take credit for the “aid.”

It’s a baby step, but one in the right direction. It’s also a step that should have been taken years ago as all the Palestinian child abuse has been documented for years on end - up to and including using schools as rocket launching facilities, kids as body armor, and indoctrinating kids as suicide bombers and terrorists from the cradle.

Hamas shouldn’t have been so blatant and aggressive about stealing UN aid supplies. Sounds like they pissed off someone they shouldn’t have pissed off.

I don’t think the UN has any problem at all with Hamas’ stealing UN aid supplies. If Hamas steals 80% of the UN’s humanitarian aid, the UN’s response will be that the poor, starving children of Gaza desperately require 80% more aid, because of what the horrible, horrible Jews did to them.

Hey IDF - how’s about showing some of the gun camera film to ‘em - especially the ones where you’re attack choppers deliberately changed the aiming point of their rockets cause the HAMAS Mofo’s pulled kids in with them or ran into a building which was loaded with civilians at the time - or at least the IDF thought it was.

It wasn’t theft, they were convinced when they came in the middle of the night that they were their own trucks, donated to them by Egypt. It is clearly a case of mistaken identity, exacerbated by the lack of electrical lighting due to Zionist bombings.

Meh.

I know it’s difficult, given your predisposition toward Hamas and all things anti-Israel; but if you want to preserve a last shred of credibility, you’ll go ahead and say it.

Not that it’ll matter - the world is still too busy shouting “war criminals!” at Israel. You would have to take out a full page ad in every newspaper in the world and flood the airwaves and the internet with notices before this would make any impact.

Spiny Norman probably has the best take here though…someone at the UN who used to turn a blind eye to the depravity of Hamas finally got snookered, probably is taking some blame for not adequately safeguarding the relief supplies, and now has done the unspeakable in UN circles and called out Hamas for what it is.

What she says is meaningless. Until it is written in the text of a resolution from the General Assembly or one of the major committees, it is words, nothing more.

This will not happen. The UN would rather commit mass suicide than turn their back on 40 years of Palestinian whitewashing.

“It is still very difficult for us to say that it was actually happening and we still need to conduct a full investigation into what exactly took place… but we are not denying that it happened; it is absolutely possible that Hamas was using its civilians as human shields,” she said.

You can tell how painful it was just trying to get those words out.

Not to be too cynical, but they can always “conduct a full investigation” (farce) and conclude that it never happened. And then we’d have an official UN Report saying Hamas never used civilians as human shields.

More likely, though, the conclusion will be fuzzier, acknowledging a “rare” instance or two as an “aberration” and thus hoping to neutralize the whole issue.

Or what #152 mannygo said.

Good for you for standing up for what is decent and good. Did the kids yell or scream anything at you? Last month, the Pro-Israel, counter-protest group to which I belong attended a “Gaza children’s vigil” at Union Square in San Francisco, California. We were there because we knew from experience that it was anything but a “children’s vigil” and we were right. As usual, the SF PD were clueless as to the magnitude of the potential for violence and our little group of 8 were forced to stand in the street while listening to kids insult us and demonize Israel with pre-scripted speeches. Groups of teens and young adults (20s) gave us the Sieg Heil and tried to incite us into fights, verbal and physical.

The odds are against those of us who stand up for Israel and against violence and racism, but it’s worth it, I think.

Kudos to you for being there.
