The New Hampshire state legislature took an unbelievably bold step today by introducing a resolution to declare certain actions by the federal government to completely totally void and warning that certain future acts will be viewed as a "breach of peace" with the states themselves that risks "nullifying the Constitution."

This act by New Hampshire is a clear warning to the federal government that they could face being stripped of their power by the States (presumably through civil war)!

This is part of a larger movement among states. There are quite a number (37 IIRC) that have states rights laws in various states of progression. A lot of it comes from federally mandated and unfunded programs/requirements.

It is very established now, but still the only place where I walked was able to go watch Buddy Guy and grab a beer, walk over to another stage to catch a bit of Santana's show and then walk and grab another beer to watch a few Allman Brothers numbers.

If anyone is interested, here is a link to the Rockford Illinois Economic Stimulus Proposal (large 9+ meg pdf). It’s a good example of the stimulus begging that’s going on at the local level. All local governments have been told to make list of all their ‘shovel ready’ projects. So now the race is on as to which town/county is the worse off.
For example: “The City of Rockford has been ranked with the highest unemployment in the State of Illinois 11 out of the last 17 years” and “The City of Rockford has the highest crime rate in the State of Illinois” etc.

It’s funny and sick at the same time. Get ready too, they are all going to do the same thing next year. I have no doubt this stimulus scam is now part of the annual budget process.

We neeed to go on the offensive. Why don't conservative groups litigate against NPR and PBS. If ever there was a target for a Fairness Doctrine, those 2 are it. They literally do take public money and yet are skewed almost entirely to the left.
Suing them would bring the issue into the public eye and provide a target that easily fits the FD model and can be described as such, fairly easily.
Once that picture is drawn in the public's mind, it can also be used as a foil to the attack on Talk Radio. The differences between the 2 venues are like night and day and could be used to illustrate (and also defuse) the inherent hypocricy in enforcing it against one and not the other. One deserves FD, the other is the Voice of Freedom.

That's what happens when it isn't properly taught, and people learn from its opponents. Some of the anti-evolution people we had last night just didn't understand how genes can be passed on without the trait being shown.

Same problem here. I have to consciously try to not capitalize nouns now and I haven't taken a German class since 1993 and had very little practice with it since.

My son already had very erratic capitalization and punctuation habits before he took German. He's not dyslexic or anything, he just didn't care. I thought German would ruin his skills permanently but at some point he just decided to pay attention. He now sends me perfectly capitalized and punctuated text messages.

Indeed- there are people who ask for help in understanding that are genuine, and those that are just yanking our chains. A well honed eye can spot the difference.

Especially with the crop of Latin teachers I had 30+ years ago.
