Huckabee on Hannity: The Stimulus Bill Persecutes Christians

Mike Huckabee is appearing on the Sean Hannity show on Fox News tonight, to throw some more red meat to fundamentalist zealots with his cretinous claim that the stimulus bill persecutes Christians.

Never mind that pesky Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Huckabee wants to throw that under the bus.

“I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution,” Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. “But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that’s what we need to do — to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.”

UPDATE at 2/13/09 6:15:07 pm:

Fox News promoted Huckabee’s appearance all day with spots saying, “The stimulus bill is anti-Christian! They’re persecuting us!”

And then Huckabee didn’t say a word about it.

 Frank says:

Yes, Ladies and gentleman, even in this agricultural enviroment, We're gonna' play a love song -- This was about 1974 in Harrisburg Pa. at the Farm Show Arena, a week after the Farm show had left town... Frank never admitted to playing there, and I can't say as I blame him. But, I will never forget what a magical night that was.
