Mugabe Gets Ready to Bail

World • Views: 4,413

Like a rat, Robert Mugabe is making preparations to jump the sinking ship of Zimbabwe. The ship that he scuttled.

ZIMBABWE’S President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace have secretly bought a 4m bolt-hole in the Far East while his country struggles with hyper-inflation, mass unemployment and a cholera epidemic.

The Mugabes’ house, in an exclusive residential complex in Hong Kong, was purchased on their behalf by a middleman through a shadowy company whose registered office is in a run-down tenement block. When a reporter and a photographer called at the house last week, they were attacked by the Zimbabwean occupants. The assailants were questioned by the police.

The property came to light during a Sunday Times investigation into the Mugabes’ financial interests in Asia, where a web of associates has helped them to spend lavishly on luxuries and stash away millions in bank accounts. In Zimbabwe, meanwhile, inflation has reached 231m%, unemployment stands at 94% and 3,467 people have died in recent months from cholera.

And we have Jimmy Carter to thank for this execrable thug.

Good news for Zimbabwe - at last.

Someone should have whacked him when he started murdering all the white farmers.

Do not forget. Mugabe is a Communist who subscribes to the same strain of that ideology as Pol Pot. He is a Maoist 'third world revolutionary' venerated by the non-CPUSA strain of American communists like Bill Ayers. This is what they want for America and the rest of the world. Zimbabwe is Utopia.

When you work in computers, sometimes the damage is just so bad you have to format the drive and reinstall the OS. I think this is the case in Zimbabwe. Clean slate. Completely rebuild the government and economy. I think the world bank should forgive any Zimbabwian(sp?) debt and bring in humanitarian aid workers and troops to fix this mess. I'm not a fan of nation-building for nation-building's sake, but sometimes it's the only option to keep places from turning into a vacuum.

In Zimbabwe, meanwhile, inflation has reached 231m%, unemployment stands at 94% and 3,467 people have died in recent months from cholera.

That's 231,000,000% inflation.

94% unemployment. And the 6% who are working, their paychecks are worthless before they're even paid.

Basically, a country could not be in worse shape. Perhaps if Ghengis Khan swept down and laid waste to the landscape, it'd be a little worse, but not much.

As Rhodesia, it was the most prosperous country on the entire continent.

It's not the fact that the country ended white rule and instituted black rule in 1979; race has nothing to do with it. The problems arose entirely because the new leader, Mugabe, instituted a communist system and destroyed the economy.

If he had simply assumed power and kept the same capitalist system they had to begin with, Zimbabwe would still be prosperous today.

Communism ruins everything, regardless of the race of the dictator who imposes it.

107 Catttt  Sat, Feb 14, 2009 6:56:07pm

In 2007, Zimbabwe's minister of the environment, Francis Nhema, was elected to head the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development.

The farm he seized from Chris Shepherd went from being a productive farm to a virtual desert. Two barns burned down and were never rebuilt. Within two years of the seizure, at least 30 percent of male workers on the farm had died. Few are still there. Workers are treated in an appalling manner. Virtually nothing is properly planted, the animals are history, and what is planted is not watered or cared for, so nothing comes of it.

Until President Robert Mugabe began seizing white-owned farms in 2000, which produced 40 percent of Zimbabwe's foreign earnings, Zimbabwe was a net exporter of food. But, with inflation at 2 200 percent, Zimbabwe's agricultural sector is on its knees. The catastrophe on the farm Nhema took is replicated throughout about 20 million hectares of the old commercial farming areas.

Under Nhema, poaching in Zimbabwe has reached unprecedented levels and scores of conservancies have collapsed.

And this guy is chosen by the UN to head the sustainable development commission. It's fricking Orwellean. And of course, the people, who only want to eat, have clean water, and not be beaten to death or die of horrible diseases, get none of those simple things.

And now, Mugabe and his cronies, who lived high on the hog while destroying their country in what must be a world record time, are setting off for million dollar pads in places where they can continue to live high on the hog.

In the case of America, Andrew Young (a man with well know radical sympathies himself) was the driving force behind the ascension of Robert Mugabe. In the case of the UK, I'm not quite sure but Lord Carrington was the principle player for them.

So they deliberately brought a Commie to power.

Running: Capable of moving quickly, athletic, fast.
Dog: Loyal, honorable, domesticated, yet of the canidae family.

My wife had an uncle and about ten friends and acquaintances who fell into that catagory.

I had a close friend in high school named Daniel Sefchas. He was a Chilean exchange student who was a member of our chess club. He was smart as a tack (he was one of our strongest players), and one of the nicest guys you'd ever wanna meet. He was also, oddly enough, both shy and very suave with the local ladies.

One time he scored with one of them when a bunch of us went to compete in the Alabama state championship (not connected with school; this was a pro tournament, with money prizes). He came back to our shared hotel room with a wide smile on his face, saying how nice American women were. We asked him if he'd gotten lucky, and he embarrassedly admitted that he had. Then we asked him if he had been wearing a rubber. When he said no, we teased him that it was possible that she had had the clap, and now his dick was gonna fall off. He spent the rest of the night lifting up his covers every few minutes to check if it was still there.

When Pinochet took over, he was summoned back to be with his family (his father owned a company there), leaving his address and phone number with me. He flew back into Santiago, and, days later, he and his entire family disappeared, as suddenly as if they'd just dropped off the face of the earth. My calls and letters to him went unanswered. To this day, I don't know what happened to them.

Every time I hear the song Daniel by Elton John, I think of him.

Legal or no at its start, Pinochet's form of government wasn't one built on the rule of law but dictatorial fiat just like an absolutist monarchy. His government was as legal and legitimate as that of Hamas. Elected to power in a government that isn't a democracy.

However, I find it likely that if Pinochet had not brutally oppressed his communist opposition, or had been a communist himself, he would be a rock star, superhero like Che or Castro.

Jimmy Carter spent his years as President and all the years since then doing nothing but building sand castles. He is one of the worst Presidents ever, but stands alone as the very worst ex-President. The USA would be better off had he never been born.

Update on the UK "humanitarians" arrested as they set off for Gaza Nine suspects arrested by terror police

All nine were seized by police travelling towards Preston close to junction 1 of the M65 at 9pm on Friday.

Photographs taken at the scene of last night's incident on the M65 appear to show two vans surrounded by police vehicles.

One van bears an image of the Palestinian flag on its side while the other has signs saying Stop Killing Children, Free Palestine, and From Blackburn (UK) to Gaza.

An aid convoy for Gaza, organised by George Galloway MP, was due to leave London today.

They were arrested in connection with terrorism offences but six were later released without charge.

The three men in still custody are aged 26, 29 and 36. Detectives would not confirm the ethnicity of the suspects or whether any explosives or weapons were found in the operation.

One of Mugabe's initiatives was to chase out all the white farmers and destroy their farms. And now the people of Zimbabwe starve to death. Who could have seen that coming back when the farms were being overrun?

Mugabe is a mass murderer. He should be treated as such.

I saw it coming back then. When the ONE decides that the federal government isn't doing enough to regulate crop production we're going to get famines here in the US.

After a second epidemic started up, he convinced freaked out officials to remove the pump handle of the Broad Street Pump. He had an incident map and evidence. Posturing for more cash from Bambi?

The country is in danger, of terror attacks & continued insurgency in the north, an decaying popularity of the PPP. It's no more stable or less stable than it ever has been. It's a stand off, the gov't doesn't have the chutzpah to root out the terrorists the right way, and the terrorists really can't take the country (Sindh and Punjab are the most populous portions, and any taliban incursion would eventually get crushed once people woke up.)

The real danger that he's talking about is the ongoing assassination campaign against ANP and PPP members. Meanwhile the PPP and ANP don't have the will or the guts to go head hunting on the opposition. Don't think for a moment they don't know where they are, but like the ancient, original assassins, they know there would be reprisals against them and their families by fanatics and families of the ones they killed. Think back to medieval times, and the interlocked feudal clans and tribes of Europe -- PPP is really just another feudal tribe, just as the Mehsuds are. The Mehsuds are willing to use terror and extreme means, PPP isn't right now.

And coming down the pike:

Those tax hikes will force most California adults to pay hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars more each year in a combination of higher vehicle license fees, sales taxes, gasoline taxes and income taxes. Dependent-care credits claimed by millions of families would be cut by about $200 annually. The increased taxes would remain in effect for two to four years.

MEIN FUHRER, BERLIN IST JUDEN-FREI!

“My leader, Berlin is Jew-free”

These words were spoken by Dr. Joseph Goebbels (NAZI Germany’s State Minister for Propaganda and Popular Enlightenment) to Adolph Hitler, founder of the National Socialist Party (NSDAP, shortened to NAZI) and dictator of Germany from 1933 to 1945. Goebbels was referring to Hitler’s command to make European capitals “Jew free” as soon as possible following German occupation. Goebbels spoke these words almost 70 years ago...

"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it,
just as it obliterated others before it.”

These words are from the Hamas charter; a vile document that spells out in chilling horror the fate all Jews will suffer at the hands of the Islamists. The followers and supporters of Hamas are in fact the spiritual and political children of the Nazi regime.

University Of Maryland Historian Prof. Jeffrey Herf states that during World War II: "A confluence of Nazi anti-Semitism and Muslim fundamentalism did take place during the war which was a mixture of ideological affinity and shared political interests."

"Though Nazi Germany failed in its military and propaganda advances in the Middle East, the ideas it conveyed to the Arabs found adherence,"... pointing to the charter of Hamas, which was established in 1987 and grew out of the Muslim Brotherhood... "The history of radical Islam must include the history of the interaction between fascist Italy, Vichy France and above all Nazi Germany, and the radical Arab nationalists of the wartime years"

It is no accident that Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” (My Struggle) is a popular best-seller in the Middle East. Hitler’s book reads like the Hamas charter for each is a statement of pure, unadulterated hate. Both use God to justify their despicable quest to make the world “Juden-frei”. Yet, in truth, the God of the Nazis, of Hamas, and yes, of the founders and leaders of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) who advance the goals of Hamas, is an offense against the very essence of divinity.

Make no mistake, the “Allah” of the terrorists of Hamas and CAIR, the front group created by the Muslim Brotherhood, is a god of abhorrence; a spiteful, hateful and disgusting "being" that serves no other purpose than to justify the irrational hate of Islamist terrorists and those who support them. The Islamists perversion of God is nothing less than religious madness. Thus, is it any wonder that the majority of Muslims in North America came to our continent to free themselves from the religious disorder that permeates every Muslim-majority country on the planet? Is there a Muslim-majority country on Earth that even attempts to make a pretense to protect the “rights” of non-Muslims? Not really. What do Muslims in America know about the countries they left that we don’t?

CAIR claims to represent the “voice of Muslims” in North America. It does not. CAIR represents the voice of hate; the voice of Hamas; the voice of terror. CAIR is the representative of radical Islam in North America and has been from the day it was founded. This is why CAIR has never condemned Hamas. To condemn Hamas would mean condemning family.

CAIR-sponsored anti-Israel protesters displayed blatent support for Hamas and other terrorist organizations during recent rallies in America. When confronted with this behavior, CAIR-Chicago's Ahmed Rehab attempted to brush aside open support for terrorists by acknowledging that certain protesters should have been dealt with by the removal of their offensive banners and signs; however, Mr. Rehab then dismisses the disturbing events ...(More)

re: #355 Cato the Elder

Meanwhile, back at Facebook, the CAMPAIGN FOR THE 'RECONQUISTA' IN ANATOLIA! has some new posts on its wall by founder Chris Triffid of Vatican City (as he claims). They are very instructive.

WTF?

The bad news is they're deadly serious. The good news is with leaders like that, if they ever try to start a real movement, the genuine fascists will eat them for lunch. The worse news is the genuine fascists are out there, and they're deadly serious too, and they're much, much cleverer than this clown.

What they forget is that if someone were to do an ancient title search, they'd find that the Ammorites, Pezzezites, etc. all have a superior claim to the land as they were they before the pesky Hebrews late of Goshen, Egypt kicked them out. Oddly enough, most of the present occupants of the land are descended from those very early Bronze-age displaced peoples. IOW, the descendants of the original owners are living there today.

The world will be changed. It is hard to access how the world would change except in the most general ways.

Glowing glass plains stretching over large areas of the world will certainly cut down on overpopulation.

Seems unlikely. We don't make that sort of really big boom weapons, though I suppose that could change. Islam enjoys losing and celebrates its losses, but we'd have to just see how much they liked that. If indeed we had a president and military, who would carry it out. Nasty future, of course. All that post-apocalyptic stuff from 1950s science-fiction. But any real change in world population would come from consequences, not directly from attack, I'd say.

Hey, this is a great Saturday night Valentine's Day subject, isn't it?

It is heartwrenching to see this level of human suffering and poverty, while Mugabe is fatcat reclining in leisure and wealth.

Just sickening. And the worst thing is there is nothing you can do from here but pray. If you make a cash donation it will only end up in the wrong hands and end up making the suffering worse.

Palestine belongs to Arabs

"If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti - Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?"

I heard a great interview of VD Hanson on Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. He observed that the study of history is important because human nature has not changed--it is essentially the social constant. Seeing garbage like this is evidence of his point.

I really lament that we have become so politically correct against our enemies. There is no doubt at all in my mind that if Hitler were to rise to power today, he would be welcomed at the UN as an equal member. And people would go on about how he is just an extreme form of his cultural quirks, and that he has good reason to hate Jews and everyone else, and that it's mostly rhetoric anyway. And the gas chambers would simply be viewed as a tragedy which is unavoidable because all violence should be avoided at any cost.

Just the way the left said the same thing about Saddam and Mugabe and others. It really makes me ill and angry - I mean physically angry when I think about it.

I really detest what we have become in that respect. It's totally horrible and something has to change it.

Still going to have to discount this as rumor. Hundreds were dead in the river, from being shot dead during a curfew. Were they swimming? Why weren't the bodies in the streets? Why were hundreds of people out together at the same time during a curfew?

Corpses in the river, I believe. Bodies got dumped in the river by Pinochet's goons. Hundreds of bodies at any one time flowing through downtown Santiago seems really, really unlikely. Unless you were saying that people saw hundreds of bodies over a long period of time, in which case I totally misunderstood what you said.

Killgore I got a fit of giggles when I read what your cat does.

My cats do not do either of those things.

But I have one cat, the seriously demented calico, who will be outside, and then suddenly we will hear her at the window, on her back legs scratching ever more insistently and desperately at the window until we open it - and she will then make a beeline for the litterbox.

She will not "go" outside.

It depends on how invested Rahmbo actually is. His daddy was an IDF general or some officer... not sure on the rank.... and according to the Jewish Journal, he is.

Hopefully Emanuel finds himself where he is by divine providence, to be BHO's conscience re Israel.

I do not see it happening, with The One pushing a '2-state solution'. If Emanuel gave a damn, he would have resigned at the first mention of this, or at least tried to get Hussein to listen to reason.

But he was a pretty green.

And to you peeps questing Catholics, I went to grade school and then high school. Only a public middle school. When I was a young guy, we had to take some class that showed us the holocaust. Old time film. Many kids got sick from watching it. They never showed that, to my memory, in public school. At least the large east coast city I lived in at the time. It had a great effect on my thinking. The USSR was just as bad. We did have some bad nuns and priests, but they were not the norm. It is why I hate Nazi's and commies.

re: #521 sattv4u2

But thats my point. They think he was struggling (and killing) "The Man",, the great opressor, the "system". To them, if you rail against the machine, it's okay if there is colatteral damage!

So they think rounding up peasants that had no political power but were insufficiently revolutionary and executing them is fighting 'The System'. Yes, this probably does sum it up. People who do not think 'correctly' do not have a right to live, if the world is ever to be perfected. Imprisoning, killing and 're-educating' all those who don't agree with them is exactly what they want. Che did the right thing. A dirty job, but somebody had to do it. Like I said. Sick fucks.

Even so how is this different from a Neo-Nazi? Once you kill all of the Jews and Jew-lovers, and wipe out the Jew-constructed political system there will be a Utopia. They too are railing against 'The System', and want to kill everyone who disagrees with them.

Of course, Che-chic wannabes also have major problems with 'Zionists' that run the world as well. Like I said. Socially acceptable skinheads.

re: #103 ConservatismNow!

Yeah, as bad as Pinochet was, at least he wasn't Communist. He was more of a semi-benevolent dictator.

Semi-benevolent, or plain old malevolent, the distinction is that a dictator who doesn't start a war that gets his nation hammered back to the stone age, and who doesn't misrule so badly as to wreck the place without needing to bring vengeful foreign armies down on his homeland, is NOT AS BAD as the ones who make that kind of mess of their homeland.

When Pinochet left power, Chile was still there as a going concern. When Gomulka and what's his name who followed lost power in Poland, Poland was still a going concern. Communism of a moderate sort, in the hands of people who love their country, doesn't absolutely ruin everything. Strong-man rule of a moderate sort, ditto. What was different in Zimbabwe was that Mugabe wasn't constrained by followers who loved Zimbabwe. If they loved anything or anybody, it was their own tribe. General ruin was the inevitable result.

Without foreign armies to blame for the destruction, there are few instances in history of such a spectacular meltdown. Cambodia was worse. (The Khmer Rouge didn't love even their own `tribe'. They just killed. Humans with the morality of rabid weasels in a chicken coop.) [Killing Fields]. The Vietnamese Communists threw out the Khmer Rouge mis-rulers because KR was insanely aggressive and started a war with VN, and after that, Cambodia recovered to some extent. The population is now back to prewar levels and then some, and life goes on.

Zimbabwe rates to be the next-worst case. Where, though, is the foreign army this time to lay down the law and impose some sort of peace and order? You have to be in a hell of a mess before military occupation by People's Army of Vietnam is a step up in the world, but Zimbabwe is in that kind of a mess and there's no sheriff in town.

Mostly true. He did a handful of other good things, mostly blocking Corps of Engineers projects that would have done more harm than good. But in doing so he took a lot of pork away from Congress and many in his own party hated him for it. Ahhh, those really were the days..NY Grampa remembers when it was $00.17/gallon! Since I don't drive, I never paid attention, until this long national nightmare began. Around here it is now at $2.05/gallon. It had gone as low (ha!) as $1.98 about 2-3 weeks ago.

Talent does not equate to decency, and he was one of the best examples of that I have ever seen.

Agree. I met him also. I was taking some classes at Berklee College of Music in Boston and he was doing a week at Sandys Jazz Club in Beverly Mass. A prof of mine knew him, we went a couple of nights and hung out with him after the shows. Miserbale is being kind

And Clapton's response was "What do you mean better? Who can play the fastest? Who can do the most complicated songs? What the F....(time delay, fortunately for the radio station!) is wrong with you? We both create music. I hope people like what I create and I certainly love what Stevie Ray does, but it's not a F..... competition ya know? It's art. It's like asking who was the best painter, Dali or Picasso? That's just a stupid question!"

I remember when we had a kinder, gentler America, where the neighbors really did know your name, and we lived on a long block in Brighton, MA, where the trolley tracks divided the street, which was very wide.

If I played outside, and went beyond my boundaries, invariably my Mum zt"l would come out and get me...I honestly thought that she had eyes in the back of her head. It was during WWII, and the Mums and Grams on the block would look out the window to see where we were, and if we were beyond where we were supposed to be? Our Mum or Gram would show up! Only later did I find out that a phone call (there were party lines in the 1940's, with 2, 3, or 4 people using it) and the kid would be retrieved.

Now? I see kids on their own after school. But in the Carter/Bubba economy? I think that there are one or 2 parents at home, jobless.

I just pray that Carter the Jew hater and Bubba get theirs for what they have caused.

BB King sure is one of the greats. Sooner or later it hit me that I appreciated tone and melody more than speed or technical abilities. What happened during the speed era was more of a physical phenomenon. Not to say that McLaughlin, DiMeola, Morse, etc. weren't good it just seemed to always revolve around 16th and 32nd notes.

DiMeola could be outright un godly. I swear he had 10 fingers,,,, on each hand !

U.S. judges admit to jailing children for money

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) – Two judges pleaded guilty on Thursday to accepting more than $2.6 million from a private youth detention centre in Pennsylvania in return for giving hundreds of youths and teenagers long sentences.

Judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan of the Court of Common Pleas in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, entered plea agreements in federal court in Scranton admitting that they took payoffs from PA Childcare and a sister company, Western PA Childcare, between 2003 and 2006.

Burris: Blagojevich Asked For Campaign Money Before Senate

AppointmentBurris said he voluntarily gave the committee a Feb. 4 affidavit disclosing the contact with Robert Blagojevich because "there were several facts that I was not given the opportunity to make during my testimony to the impeachment committee."

Gotta give Burris credit - his lies held long enough to get him confirmed. Now he can claim partisanship and racism are driving any effort to oust him, and run out the clock until the end of his term.
It worked and he got away with it. Congratulations, Senator!

Exactly what I expected from Roland Burris. He is a political creature created by the Daley machine. The state reeks of corruption from both sides of the aisle. The people of Illinois continue to vote for these crooks so I guess we get the government we deserve.

My guess is someone tipped off Burris that the FBI has him on tape. Just the sort of nonsense that President Obama doesn't need. Blago is the disease and there is no cure.

And one of the diehards is holding out.

Here we go again. This is all about nothing. But since Burrisis Black, he is open game for all the closet racists to throw stones.

This reminds me of how Michael Phelps is given a pass after being photographed smoking a "crack pipe" because he is just an "innocent " 23 year old. Also A-rod is given a pass for using steroids while Barry Bonds is hounded out of baseball and prosecuted.

So here we go again. Everybody pile on while you can.

Those two s.o.b.'s should get a LOT more than 7 years in jail

Marsha Levick, chief counsel for the Juvenile Law Centre, estimated that of approximately 5,000 juveniles who came before Ciavarella from 2003 and 2006, between 1,000 and 2,000 received excessively harsh detention sentences. She said the centre will sue the judges, PA Childcare and Western PA Childcare for financial compensation for their victims.

"That judges would allow their greed to trump the rights of defendants is just obscene," Levick said.

The judges attempted to hide their income from the scheme by creating false records and routing payments through intermediaries, prosecutors said.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court removed Ciavarella and Conahan from their duties after federal prosecutors filed charges on January 26. The court has also appointed a judge to review all the cases involved.

In fact, since they went to so much trouble to hid their incomes, someone ought to drop a dime on 'em to the IRS too.

re: #351 Iron Fist

It's not something that thrills me, either. A major nuclear event inside the CONUS would be the worst thing that had ever happened ever. We will be at a stark jumping off point for radically different futures depending on how we respond. The world will be watching, and that means we will have a very hostile audince. If these guy approve of our actions, then we can be sure we are making a mistake. If they are horrified, then you will know that the plan is solid.

The world will be changed. It is hard to access how the world would change except in the most general ways.

Glowing glass plains streatching over large areas of the world will certainly cut down on overpopulation.

OR

America collapses internally in squabbles over what to do. And no one can make any decisions. At some point in this scenario leaders will emerge, and things will get very bad for Mohammedans.

There will be no presidential speech calling the Mohammedans a Religon of peace. If there is, it will be ignored.

Life will get hard on Mohammedans...

Glowing glass plains over large areas of the world will cut down on human options for the duration of humanity as a species recognizably basically the same as we are now. We're talking to the end of time, for all human purposes.

We mustn't foul our nest like that.

Consider the situation in space. This derelict Russian satellite collides with a telephone sat and now we've got a pretty big cloud of debris up there for the next ten thousand years. A few rounds of back and forth war in space, and these satellites will be forever impossible. We'll have trapped ourselves on earth, pretty near.

Whatever we do, it must be something that leaves the planet no worse for the wear. There are tens of thousands of years stretching in front of us. We cannot slag even 1 percent of the earth per generation. There won't be anything left.

Happily, {?} nuclear weapons do not actually fuse whole continents into lava. But a willingness to do that, should the means become available, is a grave moral error.

Another thing we as Americans cannot do is to exact savage and excessive vengeance. If, (and I earnestly hope, and confidently predict, that it won't come to this) Iran were to hit the U.S. with a few dozen nukes and kill millions of us, we would be justified in destroying Iran. But would that be our only option? What if we could destroy the regime that did it, kill pretty much everyone who had any hand in the decisions or was in the military, and all the "church" authorities who advocated the crime? And do all that while holding civilian fatalities to a few million? Over deep time, a pattern and tradition of holding the destruction of war to just what is necessary to set an example for future generations and contemporary curious bystander enemies is going to be essential if we as humanity are going to make it.

Ore. man loses earlobe in fight over parking spot

[Link: news.yahoo.com...]

MILWAUKIE, Ore. – Police said two roommates began fighting over a parking space on Thursday night, and the dispute ended when one man bit off the other's earlobe. Officer Kevin Krebs said it appeared that the victim came home and parked in a spot preferred by his roommate, starting the fight.

What happens when people fight over something really important:

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Aggravated assault charges have been filed against a church deacon and University of Oklahoma Sooners fan after officials say he grabbed a University of Texas fan between the legs during a scuffle in an Oklahoma bar.

A couple of months before the annual Red River Shootout between the Sooners and Longhorns, words were exchanged at Henry Hudson's Pub between Allen Beckett, 53, and Brian Thomas. Witnesses said it was because Thomas was wearing a UT T-shirt.

Neither Thomas or Beckett chose to comment, but the police report described what happened to the victim, including graphic details about his injuries that included a torn scrotal sack with partially exposed testicles.

Beckett's attorney, Billy Bock, said his client's actions were in self-defense.

"Sure, he's an OU fan. Not necessarily an overboard die-hard OU fan, but he certainly admits he said something in a joking fashion to the guy about his Texas T-shirt. The guy got offended. He said he was sorry," said Bock.

Bock said the apology apparently wasn't enough for the Texas fan and the man then approached his client. He said his client then grabbed the man in self-defense.

"The guy came over his other shoulder, and basically said, 'I'm getting ready to kick your you-know-what.' He said he felt threatened and he did what he thought he needed to do and grabbed him and left the bar," said Bock.

Bock adds that his client isn't a hardened criminal, but is a church deacon who makes his living as a government auditor who had gone to the bar that night for one reason -- to play darts.

I have to admit, I'm a bit young to have appreciated Clapton in his Cream days, what with FM radio only making its forays into the Fargo, ND area in 1972 or something like that.

I laid out my appreciation for SRV in a thread a long time ago. I can't work the search function well enough to be able to find it, but basically, the man drew a tear to my eye with one incredible note bend. Just something about "that note."

I saw Clapton with Cream. Sounded just like the records. But I must say watching Jeff Beck do Morning Dew was incredible.

Hitler made the trains run on time but he was still a prick.

As long as there have been trains in Germany, they have always run on time.

this thing has echoes of the arafat situation ... aging murderous thug who stole hundreds of millions (or billions) from his own people marries a woman half his age and sends her abroad with the loot to set up a nice life safely out of the reach of justice.

will president obama have anything negative to say about this?

re: #374 Summer

Something about all civilizations being equal and that there are no moral absolutes lead to that happening. Funny that most libs are totally outraged by a relatively minor event, but give the murdering thugs running a government a total walk.

OK, here's a tough question:

Which is more pathetic ---
a. The UN
b. People who demand UN action

?

Do you collect maps?
My major vice, next to bibiliophilia.
BTW I was up in Towson Friday.

I am a bookaholic, but I stick as much as possible to ebooks now - I have a very small apartment! No map collecting - no room!

No, silly. My immediate bosses are heterosexual bitches. One a psycho who sat shiva for her dog, and now another one who "coaches" me once a week for being too uppity. The militant lesbanese are colleagues.

I can't see anything wrong with sitting shiva for your dog.

Mugabe wants to finish the job he started and drive the rest of the white farmers out of production.
