After my posts on Ann Coulter’s unconscionable defense of a blatantly white supremacist organization, it’s no surprise to find several hate mails in the Inbox this morning. And the usual blogosphere primates are pointing and screeching and throwing feces.

But instead of focusing on the reactionaries, I’ll post two emails of support.

The first is titled, “Appreciation re Coulter:”

I wanted to say thank you for your allegiance to principle, and for not selling your soul (as so many Republicans have done) to the pragmatic pursuit of the politically expedient.  It takes courage to do what you do, and there are a lot of people who truly appreciate you for it.

For years, pragmatists have cynically pandered to the religious right, thinking that they could “use” them to gain more political power.  Now we are learning who was using, and who was being used.  Some of them are now trying to “use” the racist fringe in the same way, and it is vile and inexcusable.  But a single strong voice against them makes a world of difference.  Keep it up.

The second is titled, “The Ann Coulter CCC thing:”

Hi. I have to tell you that reading both your post and all the followup comments on the Ann Coulter bro-ha-ha has really made me feel… I dunno how to describe it, other than.. I guess.. Hopeful.

Because of crap like this going on from Conservative Bloggers in Canada… people siding with, or openly supporting bigotry against various ethnic groups - I have felt for a very long time like a fish out of water. I’m a classical liberal/anarcho libertarian type. I’ve been so very downheartened for so very long at how much the right in North America kind of went Kablooie over the past 8 years when it came to certain things.

Reading your blog today - with all those comments made me feel *at home* in the conservative movement for perhaps the first time since 2004. You are so very right that this sort of thing needs to be hauled out and severely chastized within the right movement. Somehow.. somewhere… that got lost for awhile.

I’m just so happy to read that the right is starting to clean house. Believe me… if this carries on - I’ll be back on side with the right in no time at all. Thank you for giving me hope.Really - I greatly appreciate it.

And with that, we now open registration for a limited time. (I expect some of the haters to try to get in, but I suspect there are more people out there who agree with my opinions about the need to shun these idiot white supremacists and those who make excuses for them.)
