Former Muslim Brotherhood Front Man Running for Office As Democrat in Virginia

Look who’s popping up again, running for office as a Democrat in Virginia: Esam Omeish, former president of the Muslim Brotherhood front group MAS.

Elections for vacant seats in the House of Delegates are always interesting, but the Democratic nomination fight in the 35th District looks like it’ll be interesting indeed.

Esam Omeish, a pediatric surgeon from Northern Virginia, has joined the race to succeed Del. Steve Shannon, D-Vienna. The 35th District includes the areas of Fairfax County just north and west of the city of Fairfax. Shannon is running for Attorney General.

Omeish, the president of the Muslim American Society at the time, came into the political limelight nearly two years ago after he was appointed to the Commission on Immigration by Democratic Gov. Tim Kaine.

The appointment didn’t sit well with Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Woodstock, a fellow member of the commission. The society was too closely connected the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egyptian group that gave rise to Hamas, for his taste. Gilbert wrote to Kaine and asked him to reconsider the appointment.

A spokesman for the governor at the time dismissed Gilbert’s concerns as “innuendo, moving dangerously close to slander,” and challenged Gilbert to offer proof. Omeish resigned less than a day later, after online videos came to light in which Omeish accused Israel of genocide against Palestinians and exhorted Muslims to “the jihad way.”

Here’s that video, in which Esam Omeish tells a crowd of Washington-area Muslims at a Jerusalem Day rally, “…you have learned the way, that you have known that the jihad way is the way to liberate your land.”

There is that little technicality about supporting the US constitution. The one with the establishment clause, and the right to free speech, and the right to bear arms. That one.

U.S. agents enter Stanford Financial Houston office

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Federal agents entered the Houston office of Stanford Financial Group on Tuesday, according to a Reuters eyewitness on the scene.

About 15 people, some wearing jackets identifying them as U.S. marshals, entered the lobby of Stanford's office in the Houston Galleria area, the eyewitness said.

Houston-based Stanford Financial Group, which says it oversees more than $50 billion of assets, is being investigated by U.S. regulators, according to a person familiar with the matter.

re: #34 zombie

Jihad of the ballot box.

To explain my #34 comment:

Muslim apologists are always trying to say that "jihad" doesn't mean "holy war," but rather "inner struggle." In truth, it refers to both holy war and inner struggle and a lot of other things. According to the encyclopedia, "The four major categories of jihad that are recognized are Jihad against one's self (Jihad al-Nafs) [ed. note -- this is the "inner struggle" jihad], Jihad of the tongue (Jihad al-lisan) [propaganda and dawah/evangelism], Jihad of the hand (Jihad al-yad) [donating money], and Jihad of the sword (which can involve combat against non-Muslims)(Jihad as-sayf).

Basically, "jihad" means any way of helping to bring about the universal adoption of Islam -- what we call "the global caliphate."

I propose that there is a new, fifth form of jihad, in Western countries: jihad of the ballot box. [Promote Islam by getting elected to positions of power.] Keith Ellison is its patron saint.

Indeed. Many times we say things have gotten worse and enemies of the US more overt, but their actions haven't changed so much as our ability to spread the word about them.

We all know the throbbing memo, but Dan Rather got away with a bigger lie in 1988, presenting 6 liars as Vietnam veterans all "admitting" that US troops did evil things.

Curiously, the journal Foreign Affairs article from 1996, A New Islamic Politics: Faith and Human Rights in the Middle East by Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na'im describes Abdalla al-Nafisi as a "human rights activist".

In the Middle East today, the ‘Islamic left’ of Tariq al-Bishri and Hassan Hanafi of Egypt, Muhammad Abid al-Jabri of Morocco, Abdalla al-Nafisi of Kuwait, Muhammad al-Talbi and Abdel Majid al-Sharfi of Tunisia, and many others is widely known and appreciated, if not yet a focus of mass movements. Working from an explicitly Islamic perspective in their respective fields of law, philosophy, history, politics, and sociology, these intellectuals are attempting to modernize interpretations of Islam both in the academy and in areas of practical concern like development, constitutionalism, and the protection of human rights. Scholar-activists like al-Nafisi, a founding member of the Arab Human Rights Organization, are engaged in political struggles for democratization in their countries as well as contributing to regionwide initiatives. More broadly, beyond the traditional practices of Sufi orders and popular Islam in the societies of the region is an ethos of tolerance and peaceful coexistence that millions of Muslims share.

Here's the "scholar-activist" musing on the benefits of an anthrax attack on the US:

Even with a biased media, wouldn't the simplest thing to do (to ensure he does not get elected) be repeat his words and video? Isn't this kind of a no-brainer? I've never run an election campaign (though I see many qualified people doing so, with disastrous results), but this guy is pretty easy to expose.

Play it over, and over, and over again. And then, when he cries uncle and shakes his fist it's unfair, play it some more. Print it on the backs of cereal boxes and milk cartons. Write it in the sky, draw it in the sand, make designs on tabletops with ketchup packets in the local McDonald's. Don't let up.

If no one is willing to expose him, he could very well win.

A former Muslim Brotherhood front man running as a Donk. Well, that's not surprising since Donks and radical Muslims use the same political talking points anyway. Whoda thunkit?

They might as well elect this knucklehead. The more obvious the idiocy and mismanagement gets, the easier it is to rise up and smash it.

How do "grogressive liberals" process allegiances with complete fascists like this?

Conservatives don't sell their virtue on a platform of gay rights, human rights, women's rights, anti-racism etc. Conservatives platform is purely personal progress. Maybe they are pro-gay rights etc. Maybe they aren't. Such stances aren't the point of conservatism, but ther ARE the point of progressive Liberalism.

Surely a huge cloud of cognitive dissonance drifts over Democrat offices when a devout representative of a creed that sees gay bashing, woman oppressing, racism and violence as its "deen".

Well you'd think...I mean if you are dumb enough to still fall for that "progressive liberal" horseshit.

"Progressive liberalism" is merely a stance. Nice sounding, modern ideals with which a Democrat can "prove" they are on the right tracks as a 21st century human. It all meant something in the past and progressives ensured that racism was tackled, that women had the vote etc.

Sadly, today's "progressive liberalism" is purely anti-West hatred dressed up as liberalism. A fucking creep like Esam Omeish passes liberal muster because progressive liberals don't give a shiny shite about progressive liberalism. He is a class hero because he hates Israel and by extension AMerica. To dimbulb libs, this makes him a "radical" and worthy of praise and support.

I swear, Aryan Nations would be heroes of the left if they just got a sun tan, a foreign accent and bashed America as much as they bash the Jews.

Why is the DemoNRatic party a magnet for bad guys?

109 Zimriel  Tue, Feb 17, 2009 2:31:50pm

Here in Houston, in the past week I have passed a car with a "free palestine" bumper sticker, and on the I-59 just inside 610 eastbound there is a large billboard "Pray 4 Gaza". I never saw any of that before Inauguration Day this year.

The supporters of the peaceful struggle for spiritual peace are feeling their oats.

That is, the state highway 59 just inside the I-610 loop. pimf

Evil will always triumph, because "good" is dumb. :)

re: #96 theheat

That would be hate speech. Better to just vote him in and give him his own TV show, at least until he beheads one of his spouses. Then it'll be all over the news, and you won't have to pay to get it there.

Oops, my bad. It WON'T be all over the news.

This was my first thought.
Why are there no Republican Muslims?
What is it about the Democratic brand that draws extremists?
