Syrian Fist Shows No Sign of Unclenching

More evidence was announced Friday that Syria is running a clandestine nuclear program: Syria samples reveal more uranium.

The UN nuclear agency says it has found additional particles of uranium in samples taken from the site of an alleged nuclear facility in Syria.

Syria denied the site was a nuclear reactor and alleged the uranium traces found there came from Israeli missiles fired on it in September 2007.

But the International Atomic Energy Agency said the probability of the uranium coming from missiles was low.

The IAEA called on Syria to co-operate more with its inquiry.

I’m sure they’ll get right on that.

Meanwhile the march to stop missile defenses continues as the Obama administration has probably traded the European missile defense program for supply routes to Afghanistan.

I see folks are sleeping in this morn. Also in the article:

Iran report

The IAEA also reported on Thursday that Iran has slowed the expansion of its uranium enrichment plant but had built up its stockpile of nuclear fuel.

The agency said Iran had only slightly increased the number of centrifuges refining uranium - a process that can produce fuel for civilian energy or atomic weapons.

But Iran's reported stockpile of low-enriched uranium had risen to 1,010kg.

Proof that the opthalmology profession knows how to use the middle finger followed the IAES's request.

I imagine the Syrians will show the same degree of cooperation with the IAEA as they have shown with the UN investigation into Hariri's assassination.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these missile defenses were going to protect Europe? Seems to me like they should defend themselves. Let Europe build their own missile shield.

Regarding Syria and the rest of the Middle_East, the Obama Administration continues to screw up everything they touch. Its sad that in this critical point in history, America has these stupid angry people in charge.

Of course, blame the Jooos! After all, according to most Muslims, the Joos caused 9/11, the Joos massacred the Palestinians in Gaza, the Joos are responsible for the economic meltdown, the Joos control the media, Joo physicians take Arab internal organs for transplants in other Joos, Joos caused the AIDS epidemic, Joos use the blood of Palestinian children blood to make matzo on Passover, etc., etc.

Got to go now, I've got a hankering' for some of that tasty Palestinian blood.

I want to know if the uranium is enriched.

As far as uranium being used in aircraft bombs - no. Even deep-penetrating bombs are made of high-strength steel.

The Syrians are referring to depleted uranium projectiles (bullets) that are used for armor piercing guns. Anti tank and the like. They are very heavy and therefore pack a hell of a punch for the size. These have been claimed to poison Iraq by the US as well as Israel whenever they fire anything.

As a weapon, would never be used to destroy large buildings.

They are not significantly radioactive (hence "depleted") but the Arab street knows that everyone is trying to poison them, so it is a stock response by Syria for domestic consumption only.

Obama and his minions are busy ass kissing Assad, his plans to deter Iran is nothing new, and Hillary is being booed in China, as millions of citizens are jobless and we feign, "Buy American". North Korea is threatening war. Russia and Dubai are laughing at all this and at us. We're sending massive troop placements into Afghanistan, with Pakistan and India threatening to implode. Hey, our own Foreign Envoys from the US are not doing so well themselves.
Compound this with an ineffective UN and IAEA, what do we need to be concerned about?

The UN and the IAEA are corrupt, lazy, self aggrandizing fronts for liberal world policy and liberal agenda projects and fund corruption and discourse every where they conduct their business.
Concerned? You bet I'm concerned!

The Left is simply incapable of wrapping their minds around the utter hostility and hatred that Arab Religious authorities spew on a regular basis. This is why they don't see the hazard of a country such a Iran or Syria enriching Uranium. So we use diplomacy to stop them. Yeah, that'll work. We'll talk to them while they're busy building the stuff they'll use to kill us.

Are we going to wait for them to actually detonate a bomb on some western city before we launch a wholesale ICBM at them? I suppose this is what the left blasted GWB for. No pre-emptive war.

How uncivilized.

I think this is partly true. Some on the left are truly good hearted and naive. But many others share a hatred of the West that causes them to identlfy with the Arabs. So deep down they actually support the destruction of the "imperialist" Western civilization. And they don't notice that Islam is a form of imperialism.

The UN nuclear agency says it has found additional particles of uranium in samples taken from the site of an alleged nuclear facility in Syria.

Alleged? Just like Syria is alleged sponsors of terror?

Oh wait! They are good guys, right? They were on our side in the '91 Gulf War.
Just like Egypt too!

I think.

46 So?  Sun, Feb 22, 2009 11:32:58am

The clock is ticking. Netenyahu must keep his promise and destroy all Iranian nuke facilities soon. A message must be sent to not only to the Arab world, but to Russia, China & N. Korea. The latter 3 scum bag countries are the ones providing all the necessary technology.

re: #37 Perpetua

The mantra that the enemy of my enemy is my friend is a major stumbling block for many on the left. The enemies of your enemies are your allies, not your friends. There is a difference. Too many on the left miss this nuanced view. So they'll shill for the very people who espouse values that do not coincide with their own. How else can one explain those Lesbians for Palestine?

This is either stupid or dishonest. I've been waiting years for someone to come forward to convince me that I'm wrong about this.

49 barry the baptist  Sun, Feb 22, 2009 12:22:19pm

This is a damn shame.

I said a long time ago and SADLY ENOUGH that the only thing that might bring us out of this fallacy of being in a la-la land was going to be a major terror attack on our soil. I am afraid that it's going to take something of magnitude to reverse the course of the nation--and I hate to say that. I also hate to think that some of us ARE TARGETS for this whole thing to happen. I also hate to think that--if something very bad happens here that our leaders might explain such events away as the 9-11 truthers tried (trying) to do.

This is a damn shame.

It seems that we did not learn our lessons back in the 1930's. Everyone wants peace, and that's great, but not at the cost of lives. How many lives, I ask, are the toll for taking significant action to end this threat to us and to the world? It took total WAR to rid us of the evils of the 3rd Reich and Bushido's in Japan. It took a man with GUTS to out maneuver the USSR and end the Cold War. What will it take now? Words are meaningless to these people. Only action--and STRONG action beget change. Until we do that....it's all just bullshit.

We are in big trouble.
