The PLO-Hamas Coalition Sham
The Obama administration seems to think they’ll get around the ban on negotiating with terrorist rogue states by promoting a “coalition government” between the PLO and Hamas. But once again, this idea is painfully naïve. Hamas may play along for a while, but the Islamists have no real interest in being partners with anyone. They may even sign some kind of rapprochement paper, but it won’t be long before the kllling starts again.
Preparing for the latest round of sham negotiations, puppethead Mahmoud Abbas is issuing the usual empty warnings: Hamas must respect PLO deals for unity govt: Abbas.
OSLO (AFP) – Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas said Tuesday any coalition government between Fatah and Hamas must respect agreements signed by the PLO, on the eve of talks between the rivals in Egypt.
“We want to see the formation of a Palestinian national unity government or a government of national consensus — it doesn’t matter, as long as we agree upon a government,” Abbas said during a visit to the Norwegian capital.
“This government must fully honour the commitments that we agreed to in the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organisation),” he said, adding: “When governments come, they respect and honour and accept obligations of previous governments.”
Hamas does not recognise the authority of the PLO…
