Forced lowering of mortgage qualifying criteria and artificially low interest rates contributed to if not caused the ‘housing bubble’ that burst so gloriously.
How long until the same meddling that’s contributing to if not causing the ‘college bubble’ bursts, and how long until pleas for multi-billion dollar bail-outs of ‘big education’ (as if they aren’t already getting enough subsidy)?

Has it been that long since Marx wrote Das Kapital?
11 | Gus Tue, Feb 24, 2009 9:10:12pm |
Negative.
Obama repeated the same promises and provided no details to his proposals which amount to more spending and more regulations.
Jindal was affected and spoke as though speaking to a group of children and used questionable examples from the so called stimulus package. Jindal did not convince anyone from the other side nor did he inspire potential Republican voters if even his base.

33 | DistantThunder Tue, Feb 24, 2009 9:14:53pm |
I can’t watch Obama because I know he’s lying to me. It freaks me out that others are so believing.
Reminds me of a close friend whose husband was cheating on her. All the signs were there, but she wouldn’t believe it. He lied to her constantly. One day he swore he was not going to a car show in another state. Three days later he came home wearing the official event T-shirt. He denied going, and she believed him.
When she would share the evidence with me, but say she believed him, I was angrier at her than I was at him.
When she finally came to accept the truth, it was over one incident, and then she said it was like scales falling from her eyes, and she could see that everything was a lie. It is a fascinating phenomena.

Back to school? I never went to school. I learned to be a programmer on my own, back when we had those little frames with those wires and bead things.
But since I have been “aged” out of the programming business, and can’t get a full time programmers job
I’m 56, and so far I have seen nothing in his stimulus bill that would even help me, even though I am now a low waged worker in the arts. So, on the way home from work, I heard something on the radio about offering college.

Make college education more affordable, like by capping salaries of professors? or college administrators? or tuition? or book prices? or food and housing prices? Or by inflating loans which will cause tuition and other college prices to rise in tandem washing out any supposed affordability.
The whole speech of Obama was just so dreadful and dishonest I just feel that we have an affirmative action President and everyone is so afraid to say anything negative for fear of being the first to say the Emperor has no clothes.
But, as someone once said, the chickens will come home to roost, but by then so much damage will be done, I don’t know what will be able to be done to right the ship of state.

re: #53 Tigger2005
I’ve been doing this too, and not slyly. I want people to see me do this. I’m hoping someone says something to me.

Glad I missed it. I was reading comments here and at Newsbusters.

I tried real hard to watch his speech…. really, I did! I couldn’t last for more than 5 minutes before Mrs. Amer-I-Can would tell me to go away and cool off. I recorded it though so that I can watch it by myself and not bother anyone when I am yelling at the television.

Obama is the Elmer Gantry of our time.
He’s a spell-binder who says everything, but means nothing.
His speech was riddled with applause-line platitudes and scant substance.
He is obviously a President-in-training. (sorry Biden)

Mega dittos to all those worried about there even being a country left after all this load of excrement is forced down our throats.
I did watch it because we wanted to know to how much worse were things going to get. We are about to send two yutes off to college, and where they eventually attend college depended a good bit on what the Messiah had to say last night. We worry about them trying to pay back student loans and having to work three jobs just to survive based on what our fearless, robber baron had to say.
Christopher Hitchens could have responded very well to his Majesty’s comments about torture and war against terrorists. I might disagree with him on other issues but somehow I doubt he is thrilled with Obama’s military stance in Iraq. Christopher’s brother however, he would have really given a good response!
I have heard and seen Jindal respond to things much better. His updates from LA during Katrina and on various tv shows since Katrina have been way better. Apparently Iowahawk’s traveling Obama, teleprompter did attack last night and it nuked Jindal! But beyond Jindal’s response, what was most disturbing was the GOP members that were standing up and applauding the Messiah last night! I was on with Newt’s group last night blogging just to see what he and others had to say and even some of Newt’s reactions flew in the face of what we want from those up front in the GOP. To me Newt goes for the green policies in a way that squelches the green industry achieving in a capitalist market and has the government WAY more involved than most of us would like. And if anyone saw Cantor with Hannity, he was not much stronger than Jindal and it seems like the GOP sent a memo out to NOT criticize the One.
Ultimately for us, the most alarming thing out of last night was the GOP response in total. It boils down to the fact that Obama/Lenin/Mao etc. seems to have very little to stand in his way. Other than most of the House members, I see little actions from the GOP the heartens me or makes me feel positive about the survival of our Union. These tea parties all across the nation are great, but if we do not have folks in Congress taking a solid message that resonates out across the fruited plains, then most Americans are going to go with the Dems. People are frustrated and tired of government not listening to what we really want and doing the exact opposite of the will of the people. There must be some clear, concise, strong leadership to emerge ASAP from the RNC, or things really are going to be as apocalyptic as some of us fear.
God help us!

To semi-echo a few others before me, ‘I have not chosen to leave the President, the President has chosen to leave me.’ The same can soon be said of the Republican Party which seems to be controlled by ‘yea-sayers’ in dire need of anyone, please someone within its ranks to grow a pair.
‘Ask not what your country can do for you, rather ask what you can do for your country’ resonates not with the One.
