The markets love specifics, something the Obama administration lacks in great numbers. Until the market see either a specific plan, not just platitudes, they will continue to oscillate like a drunken sailor with the trend heading into the gutter. Wall Street doesn't like the democrat plan nor should they. Excess government spending is as damaging, if not more, then excess Wall Street spending. If he keeps opening his trap, the markets will continue to plummet.

You know, I was wondering what could possibly be the issue and it finally came to me while listening to the radio.
Prostate Health
Just like America as a whole, Wall Street and Investors as a whole are, on average, getting older. Certain health issues crop up in an older male dominated workforce.
Chris Matthews has already noted that he gets a tingle in his leg when Obama speaks. Perhaps the tingle is aggravating the health issues of the increasingly elderly Wall Street workforce.
Obama speaks then they excuse themselves and miss out on the huge wave of investors that wish to buy due to their renewed hope and optimism on the economy. The only people left in the room are Republicans, since they are immune to the leg tingle, and Republicans want the economy to collapse (to make Obama look bad) so they force their investors at gunpoint with their evil should-be-controlled guns to sell. This way every time Obama speaks the markets fall.
It explains everything!

Saving for Greatness
(From a brochure published by the World Financial Group)
Your savings, believe it or not, affect the way you stand, the way you walk, the tone of your voice -- in short, your physical well-being and self-confidence. A man without savings is always running. He must. He must take the first job offered, or nearly so. He sits nervously on life’s chairs because any small emergency throws him into the hands of others.
Without savings, a man must be too grateful. Gratitude is a fine thing in its place. But a constant state of gratitude is a horrible place in which to live. A man with savings can walk tall. He may appraise opportunities in a relaxed way, have time for judicious estimates and not be rushed by economic necessity.
A man with savings can afford to resign from his job if his principles so dictate -- and for this reason he will never need to do so. A man who can afford to quit is much more useful to his company and therefore more readily promoted. He can afford to give his company the benefit of his most candid judgments.
A man with savings can afford the wonderful privilege of being generous in family or neighborhood emergencies. He can take the level stare of any man ... friend, stranger or enemy. That ability shapes his personality and character.
The ability to save has nothing to do with the size of income. Many high-income people spend it all. They are on a treadmill, darting through life like minnows.
The dean of American bankers, J.P. Morgan, once advised a young broker: "Take waste out of your spending; you’ll drive the haste out of your life."
If you do not need money for college, a home or retirement, then save for self-confidence. The state of your savings does have a lot to do with how tall you walk.

I wonder what the carbon footprint is of printing 787 billion dollars. Granted, much of it may be distributed as little electronic 1s and 0s, but at some point some of it must turn into "real" money. That could be a lot of trees and inks wasted. I'm hoping Obama just prints a single $787 billion bill, like in the Simpsons episode with the trillion dollar bill. Then the democratic governors of various states can have death matches over it (before it's stolen by Castro).

Oop. Ack. 'Homegrown Jihad' Documentary Trailer - CBS News
Officials describe the film to CBS News as "sensationalistic" and without any real foundation. According to one official, it is strictly designed to upset and inflame people and does not present a true picture of any so-called “homegrown Jihad” danger. No current intelligence exists to suggest any threat connected with this group, which officials describe as “wannabes” and not terrorists.
The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are aware of the movie and have no plans at this time to issue any new alerts or bulletins.

What's with CBS these days? I think they were the original MSM source for the bogus Phoenix kidnapping story.
I have been unable to find "official" statistics that I can link to, but I see the same figure everywhere for the number of kidnappings reported in Phoenix last year. Would you accept UPI as a source?
PHOENIX, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Police in Phoenix, Ariz., say they are tackling the almost-daily occurrence of home invasions and kidnappings in the Arizona capital.Officials said the high number of home invasions and kidnappings has earned the city the title of "kidnap-for-ransom capital" of the United States, The Arizona Republic reported Sunday.
In 2008, there were 369 reported kidnappings and 337 home invasions, which marked a 5 percent increase compared to the year before.
Phoenix police developed a task force in September to reduce the number of incidents.
Police Lt. Lauri Burgett, the lead investigator assigned to the Phoenix-led home invasion and kidnapping task force, said many of the extortion cases are linked to illegal drug trade.
"It's about profit," Burgett said. "It's been a secret society in a lot of ways because so much of it goes unreported."
She said since September, the task force has dismantled more than 20 extortion cells, the newspaper reported.

Boxer Seeks to Ratify U.N. Treaty That May Erode U.S. Rights
Because of the Supremacy Clause in Article VI of the Constitution, all treaties are rendered "the supreme law of the land," superseding preexisting state and federal statutes. Any rights or laws established by the U.N. convention could then be argued to hold sway in the United States.
Critics say the treaty, which creates "the right of the child to freedom of thought, conscience and religion" and outlaws the "arbitrary or unlawful interference with his or her privacy," intrudes on the family and strips parents of the power to raise their children without government interference.
"To the extent that an outside body, a group of unaccountable so-called experts in Switzerland have a say over how children in America should be raised, educated and disciplined -- that is an erosion of American sovereignty," said Steven Groves, a fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.
Parental rights groups are similarly stirred; they see in the U.N. convention a threat that the government will meddle with even the simplest freedoms to raise their children as they see fit.
"Whether you ground your kids for smoking marijuana, whether you take them to church, whether you let them go to junior prom, all of those things . . . will be the government's decision," said Michael Farris, president of ParentalRights.org. "It will affect every parent who's told their children to do the dishes."

That's the key point. On paper Marx's manifesto is beautiful. But it disregards human nature and thus will never succeed. Even the Soviets understood that somewhat in that they attempted to create a new Soviet man. And killed millions trying and still didn't get there.
Capitalism has many warts but it's essential brilliance is that it acknowledges and harnesses human nature. It understands that man works most diligently in his own interest. Leftists call it greed, but call it what you want, it is the engine that drives production.

Thanks, I've been looking at your links. Terminology is part of the problem. But all the news articles use the same number, and some of them say the number is from the Phoenix police department, but their website says they don't separate out kidnappings. They lump them in with "other crimes." If I can't access the same information as the news media, I might become skeptical.

The US would be the preferred country of enforcement.
The UN has done a bang up job throughout their history of protecting people.

The US should never ratify any treaty the UN spits out ... it's an organization of thugs.
that's why the Dem's are so enamored with them: birds of a feather and all that.

Now, all you have to do is look around the world and see these girls that are having acid thrown in their face," Boxer said in January, implying that the U.S. refusal to come aboard has led to abuses elsewhere.
Yup, there is a pandemic of acid attacks on children, Boxer, in the US no less. The day you can guarantee that the US ratification of this treaty will eliminate child abuse in those countries that have a habit of dealing with their children as a matter of "honour" will be the day you might talk sense.

Leftists are totalitarians...one of the scariest words in the dictionary. Basically, they are driven to be totally in control of your life. Of course when it comes to their own lives, well that's another matter. They're all hyopcritical bastards.
There used to be a revolutionary era flag that said "Don't tread on me". Translated to modern times it means "Don't fuck with me".....
We need to get in the libtards faces with that flag.
Does anyone know where one might aquire such a flag?

The markets love specifics, something the Obama administration lacks in great numbers. Until the market see either a specific plan, not just platitudes, they will continue to oscillate like a drunken sailor with the trend heading into the gutter. Wall Street doesn't like the democrat plan nor should they. Excess government spending is as damaging, if not more, then excess Wall Street spending. If he keeps opening his trap, the markets will continue to plummet.
The market saw a specific plan. It was called the Spendulous Bill. Why do you think it has been tanking so badly as of late?

Ok, so now DHS confirms, 'yes' we've a wee little problem with narco(whomever?)-terrorists coming over the border. But really, that’s no biggy, right, we all knew that was bound to occur?
Wrong.
The day before Fox news reported - DHS: Chances of Home-Grown Attack 'Very Low' but it gets even better with the lede:
Hours after the FBI expressed concern over home-grown terror attacks, the Department of Homeland Security said such an attack was unlikely.
Here’s the media poop on the FBI: U.S. Cities Vulnerable To Mumbai-Type Attacks, Warns FBI
Ok, fine…the DHS & FBI will go figure it out.
Yep…quite likely with Tom Perez as our new Head of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. The very same

I've been posting tons of links about the narco-terrorists, so I feel responsible to make this caution: I don't think it's right to conflate the narco-terrorists with the Islamo-terrorists. Sure, there's a bit of overlap in tactics, and our borders are vulnerable to both, but they aren't teaming up against us, at this point.

As a generalized comment, the last 3 trading days of the month are dominated by cash flows in and out of funds. Those cash flows have been initiated before today in general and this is just the response to them. I have seen some pretty thin stuff get the crud knocked out of it on no news as people reduce their positions. This market is totally uncertain on what Washington is going to do. The stress test numbers today gave the banks a little bit more certainty, but that is all. GM reports tomorrow.

No. Because they think that the earth belongs to all of us, and therefore people should have the right to live anywhere they want. If that happens to be the US, well, you will just have to move over and make room for those poor souls. They have the same rights as you. Borders/nationalities are irrelevant.

The president and his truly unmerry men continue to spew-abundant gloom and doom rhetoric about the economic future of our country and her suckling citizens. They, ad nausea, go about planting pay-later seeds of American Socialism in what they see as very fertile ground. These killing fields have been freshly turned, limed and fertilized by the likes of the MSM, the masses of entitlement-minded supporters here along with many in Europe, the Middle East and enemy-populated-elsewhere abroad anxiously awaiting the 'change.' Yet, the president and the Democrats, for the cameras and mics at least, cannot seem to comprehend why the very barometer of our capitalistic financial health, the NYSE, plummets reflecting downward their onslaught of negativism disguised to further implement Socialistic 'change.' Ironic, don't you think?
These are the same people, leaders, movers and shakers within and without our government who refuse to listen as the political leader of Iran threatens Israel with nuclear annihilation at every opportunity and who continues down the path of creating the weapons to do so. Is it irony due to group stupidity or conspiratorial ignorance at its zenith among Democrats?
Hurricane Katrina and the recent Tsunami that killed so many were merely a whisper and a warm salty bath compared to the internal storms that are coming. Americans by the millions are now battening down their personal financial hatches in an unprecedented way. Jobs will vanish in record numbers with a shocking quickness. Businesses will close by the thousands. The companies who survive will do so at the kindness of a near defunct government floundering under socialism. If there are stocks they will be penny stocks. Because, when the very people who live, work, financially support, fight and die for this country, run deep and silent, the last one out needs to get the lights. This has the distinct possibility to become the greatest depression of all times in America and by symbiotic financial connections throughout the World. I'm almost convinced the president and his Democrat enablers want it this way. I pray these images change for the better and soon. If not, there will be no where to go and no escape route provided by FEMA or our local authorities. We will possibly be reduced to a nation of homeless, penniless victims looking for a proverbial National Super Dome in which to huddle and a bankrupt government to provide enough milk-filled teats to sustain us all.
Currently the stage is set with a president who wishes to destroy capitalism in America with the left posturing as the supporting cast of antagonist and we, in the peanut gallery, watch as the curtain continues to fall on us all with no protagonist in sight.
Hopefully, the history books at least will accurately report who and what destroyed America. It came from within at the very highest office with minimal assistance from without by friend and foe.
May God save the Republic!
