Photos from the Chicago Tea Party at Founding Bloggers.

UPDATE at 2/27/09 11:52:49 am:

Age of Hooper has a photo from the DC Tea Party. Apparently wasn’t the most exciting political rally ever. I think they really need some giant papier mache puppets to get the crowds pumped up.

UPDATE at 2/27/09 1:32:48 pm:

More pics at This Ain’t Hell: Washington Tea Party live blogging.

I don't Obama cares at all what we think. He is gonna push his communist agenda until we actually stop him ( legislatively ) and soon I hope.

Nix on the pic of Obama with the Hitler mustache. It was wrong to compare GWB to him, and it's wrong to compare Barry O as well.

When we protested Obama's visit to Dobson High School in Mesa, AZ, there was a guy walking around with a giant paper-mache Obama head on his shoulders. He looked like a human bobblehead. Thing was, I couldn't tell if he was pro or anti, but it sure was funny. There was something very Alfred E. Newmanesque about it.

I just got back from the rally. Very peaceful (also very cold). Great group of people.

We were heckled by a woman outside the Federal building telling us (seriously) to not pay our mortgages and stay in our homes after foreclosure. That was odd.

There were also a couple of mid-twenties men who heckled us saying, "So what about health care? So what about education? You're just about status quo."

Its nice to see people in Chicago protesting against the "stimulus", and a lot of those signs are good. Except for that Chaos one with Obama with a Hitler 'stache, it took me a few seconds to see it because of the coloration of the poster. Defiantly not cool, don't need to be like the loony left that compared Bush to Hitler. No one should be compared to Hitler unless they are another genocidal maniac. I'm sure someone will ask the person why they did that, and maybe even ask them to fix it or remove it. I'm pretty sure the ultimate goal is to eliminate the middle class entirely. We'll end up with 2 classes: 49% who pay taxes, and 51% who receive the benefits from them.

As long as the non-productive are the majority, they'll keep the Dems in power forever. Pretty much how it works now on a local level in places like Chicago.

I'm reminded of the fable/story about the politician called Obama who comes to the village for the night and is begrudgingly given a place to sleep. When he is told there is no food, he says no problem, he will make some Hope soup with his magic screw.

The liberal villagers watch in awe as Obama puts his screw in a pot of water and simmers. He smiles and takes a sip, then says.."this is pretty good, but could be a bit better if I had some salt, potatoes, meat, saffron, etc, etc."

The incredulous villagers each go home and bring back "stuff" for Obama's magic soup. Obama tastes it again and says it is almost ready, but he requires the best china, silver, linens, etc.

Once again, the villagers go home and bring back all they own to turn over to Obama.

Obama promptly eats all the soup, takes all the material possessions and tells the village they can keep the 'Magic Screw'.

Then with a wave of his hand he says..."gotta go"!

As long as the non-productive are the majority, they'll keep the Dems in power forever. Pretty much how it works now on a local level in places like Chicago.

Its already pretty close to that point.

When you factor in tax credits, around 50% of Americans currently don't pay net income taxes right now.

Newt calls out Holder on race

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called out Attorney General Eric Holder Friday over his comment that the United States is a "nation of cowards" on issues of race.

"I'm welcome to have a dialogue with you about cowardice, anywhere, any time," Gingrich challenged the attorney general during a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference.

"I certainly hope that Attorney General Holder will have a dialogue about whether we are a nation of cowards," he continued.

Holder made the comment last week during remarks to his staff at the Department of Justice in honor of black history month. Holder acknowledged that gains have been made in combating discrimination I the United States but that the nation remains a "nation of cowards" in dealing with issues of race head-on.

While Gingrich repeatedly highlighted Holder's use of the word "cowardice," the former House speaker did not make a direct reference to race. He pointed to the "failed policies" of inner city Detroit, but did not directly rebut Holder's claim.

"This is a nation of people courageous enough to tell the truth," Gingrich said. "This is a nation courageous enough to stand up when they know they are not being told the truth."

And continue to pay them a full paycheck after they retire.

Apparently wasn’t the most exciting political rally ever. I think they really need some giant papier mache puppets to get the crowds pumped up.

OK, not to toss a damp rag onto this effort, but...

First, I've never believed that public protests of this sort accomplish much of anything other than to rope in more contributors for the organizers to milk. They don't change any minds, and if anything they tend to polarize the issue at hand even more than it already is, driving many fence sitters over to the other side and keeping them there. I think it's much more effective to work through the existing political framework - contacting representatives, supporting those who seem likely to side with you, and inserting yourself into the process at a higher level than "occasional voter" or "I thought I'd stop and see what the fuss was about on my way to pick up a latte."

Second, I had today off, and I actually considered driving to the state capitol, where one of these events was being held. Then I noticed that the effort was being rabidly flogged by Michelle Malkin, and I quickly lost interest. Her boosterism guarantees that most of those in attendance will be the worst possible representatives of the GOP and Conservatism; she seems to be trying to outdo the head of the Daily Kos, Mr. Mxyzptlk or whatever his name is, when it comes to childish name calling and lowering political discourse and debate to the intellectual level of a food fight.

I spent most of my politically oriented time today emailing this story to various people who share conservative views. It's heartening to see someone on the other side of the aisle saying such things; we need to reach out to people like Taylor and offer then encouragement and support. The sort of turd-toss being whipped up by Malkin certainly isn't going to change any minds on the opposing side, and that's what I believe we must do if we're to have any hopes of promoting a Conservative agenda.

Splutter...choke...GUFFAW!

Aw, there goes my keyboard again.

Scruffy fiddle players...box of tea bags (heh) on the ground...sorry-looking twits dressed up in War of Independence duds - can anyone say "Ron Paul"? Wheres the blimp?

And not-Joe the not-Plumber doing interviews. I thought he was supposed to be leading the charge to - wait - where was it again?

If this goes anywhere further, or gets any bigger, I'll eat a tricorne hat.

I agree... In most instances where you compare some one to either Hitler or the Nazi's, your credibility drops to 0...especially in caricatures.

However in creating a "National" police force..... Acceptable comparison.

I think part of the message we need to get out there is that Obama is NOT spending "Other people's Money" or just the rich people's money. He's spending America's Money. He's spending ALL of our money. We all end up paying the debt one way or another. It doesn't matter where you take the money from, taking money out of the economy affects all of us.

U.S. to yield marijuana jurisdiction to states

Now that the Obama administration wants to leave in states' hands... I guesss legalization in one state will create a defacto legalization in all states.

re: #59 Kragar (Proud to be Kafir)

Of course. They want to tax it. The states will do so readily; it's largely been Federal prosecutions and policies that have kept it illegal.

Frankly, this doesn't strike me as a bad plan. Remember those 700 violent gang members that were rounded up nationwide yesterday, after a two year investigation? They're here at least in part because pot is illegal, and they can make insane profits dealing it as a result. Legalization not only saves domestic resources; it also cuts the knees out from under some of the nastiest people you're ever likely to meet who are profiting in very unpleasant ways from this.

Of course, those same people will likely just switch their efforts to drugs which will remain on the contraband list. So it isn't a perfect solution.

Will legalization lead to a nation of underachieving potheads? Difficult to say. It doesn't seem to have done so in other countries - although good statistics are difficult to come by. Any such measure ought to be accompanied by funds to carefully track any potential ill effects of legalization, and evaluations ought to be conducted on a regular basis to ensure that such gloomy predictions aren't taking place.

Nix on the pic of Obama with the Hitler mustache. It was wrong to compare GWB to him, and it's wrong to compare Barry O as well.

to compare Obama to euro socialism is fine NOT TO HITLER THAT IS JUST AS WRONG AS DOING IT TO PRESIDENT BUSH.

Two young men wearing "Don't Blame Me, I Voted for McCain-Palin" sighted (and congratulated) on DC Metro today.

It takes a brave young man to wear such a radical message! May a thousand refuseniks multiply so we can "change" Congress in 2010.

re: #52 Hadith Harry

There were also a couple of mid-twenties men who heckled us saying, "So what about health care? So what about education? You're just about status quo."

So what about going out and busting your ass to pay for your own education and health care?

Jesus... it seemed to work okay for us until the slackers decided they had a right to stuff they hadn't paid for.

No puppet heads or mimes at today's Houston tea party.
An abundance of Grandmas tho ,trailing tired old vets .
The other half of the downtown crowd was on lunch .
These were not the nose piercing types typically infesting protests.
Tea bags were worn as necklaces or pinned to clothing rather than affixed as earrings or lip accessories.
About 300 attended 6 days after the mayor ignited local indignation
w his proposal to 'fix' worthy credit histories w "leftover" Ike money.
Many will notice his uncanny resemblance to Elmer Fudd
when he runs for the KBH Senate vacancy.
Had he dared to show his face there he would have been as close to a cartoon character as I could report in attendance .
He must have been off in search of those wascawwy wabbits .
Wasting time looking for voters among the lynch mob there
could not have been as productive.

I'm not going to ridicule either the size of the protests or the people who attended. It takes a bit more effort to plan ahead and show up in person than it does to sit on your ass pontificating via keyboard. Contacting your representatives only goes so far when you live in a blue state and they know they can tell you to fuck off.
