Moussa Abu Marzouk Goes to Gaza, For the First Time in a Long Time

Middle East • Views: 4,436

Hamas leader Moussa Abu Marzouk, deported from the US in 1997, suddenly feels comfy enough to “secretly” visit Gaza, instead of spewing his bloodthirsty eliminationism from a safe haven in Syria: Top Syria-based Hamas leader secretly visits Gaza.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – A top Syria-based Hamas leader secretly crossed into Gaza for his first visit in decades, an Egyptian security official on the border said Saturday.

Moussa Abu Marzouk entered the Gaza Strip late on Thursday with three other Hamas officials before returning to Egypt the following day, the official said. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press.

Hopefully, he feels more confident and tries crossing again. Then they can kill him.

He should have been greeted with 5 or so rockets.

9 6pat6  Sat, Feb 28, 2009 5:39:46pm

And Israel needed just a few more days to completely finish the job. Two years from now, they'll be back in to do the same - a third time. With $900M going into a steaming shithole like Gaza, and the US essentially paying to rearm and strengthen Hamas.

Gosh. Wow, what a deal that is, huh?

10 notutopia  Sat, Feb 28, 2009 5:40:14pm

If he is so comfortable with Gaza, why did he have to secretly visit?
Cowardly SOB!

Abu Marzouk is number two in the Hamas hierarchy. He was born in Gaza and grew up in a refugee camp in the southern part of the strip, but hasn't been back in several decades.

Which is why he's still alive.

Obama Saturday day address.

We sought a government that served not the interests of powerful lobbyists or the wealthiest few, but the middle-class Americans I met every day in every community along the campaign trail – responsible men and women who are working harder than ever, worrying about their jobs, and struggling to raise their families. In so many town halls and backyards, they spoke of their hopes for a government that finally confronts the challenges that their families face every day; a government that treats their tax dollars as responsibly as they treat their own hard-earned paychecks.

That is the change I promised as a candidate for president. It is the change the American people voted for in November. And it is the change represented by the budget I sent to Congress this week.

[snip]

This budget also reflects the stark reality of what we’ve inherited – a trillion dollar deficit, a financial crisis, and a costly recession. Given this reality, we’ll have to be more vigilant than ever in eliminating the programs we don’t need in order to make room for the investments we do need. I promised to do this by going through the federal budget page by page, and line by line. That is a process we have already begun, and I am pleased to say that we’ve already identified two trillion dollars worth of deficit-reductions over the next decade. We’ve also restored a sense of honesty and transparency to our budget, which is why this one accounts for spending that was hidden or left out under the old rules.

GAH!

At least we'd be clear about that for once -

I look at what the Democrqts are doing or trying to do, and consider what they would be doing if they wanted to see the West lose the war to the islamonazis, and can't see very much that they'd be doing differently. Their anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism are barely concealed by a domino mask of "diplomacy", by which they really mean America and Israel lose and the Mohammedan terrorists win.

The radical left holds the US in the same contempt as they have for Israel - and all of this falls under a global new world order quasi-communist ideology.

I think it's even worse.

Makes for a good story for them, though. Pure-bred dogs are next to impossible to find at rescue centers, I agree. We can get beagles out in our area at the rescue center - they are hunting dogs and sometimes people abandon them when they move. I love beagles and beagle mixes as well as Shepherds.

Often when a dog "scoots" it is because the scent gland is getting impacted. Like all carnivores canids have scent glands just inside the rectum. While they do not spray like a skunk does they do use it to mark their droppings. Dogs are fascinated by the secret messages they can smell. The big secret is they all translate "I was here, Spanky." If the stool is soft, it can happen for a million reasons and some are just prone to it, then the gland gets clogged and needs to be emptied. Phew.

The Kennedys aren't known for actually taking care of their dogs/pets. Ethel had poodles that left droppings on the staircases at Hickory Hill, so when you came downstairs in the morning, you had to be careful. She also had these enormous black dogs that liked to leave steaming piles in the guest bathroom on the ground floor. When I was the governess there, I had no clue who was actually in charge of taking the poor things outside.

Sure we're still interested in the Mideast. But what are we going to say? The US is sending more money down the rathole to Gaza. The Iranians are getting the bomb. Kerry has been to Damascus, Hillary is probably on the way. It all sucks.

re: #187 rightymouse

The Kennedys aren't known for actually taking care of their dogs/pets. Ethel had poodles that left droppings on the staircases at Hickory Hill, so when you came downstairs in the morning, you had to be careful. She also had these enormous black dogs that liked to leave steaming piles in the guest bathroom on the ground floor. When I was the governess there, I had no clue who was actually in charge of taking the poor things outside.

Like their owners, the dogs were just leaving crap all over the place.

#183 Occasional Reader --

From today's Washington Post:

Most of President Obama's "missteps" to date have been Washington peccadilloes of the "let's find something to complain about" sort. But Obama has made one major mistake that has attracted little public attention: his appointment of Charles Freeman as chairman of the National Intelligence Council. Freeman was attacked by pro-Israel activists, but the contretemps over Freeman's view of Israel misses the broader problem, which is that he's an ideological fanatic...

As far as realists are concerned, there's no way to think about the way governments act except as the pursuit of self-interest. Realism has some useful insights. For instance, realists accurately predicted that Iraqis would respond to a U.S. invasion with less than unadulterated joy.

But realists are the mirror image of neoconservatives in that they are completely blind to the moral dimensions of international politics. Realists scoffed at Bill Clinton's interventions in Bosnia and Kosovo, which halted mass slaughter. Realists tend not to abide the American alliance with Israel, which rests on shared values with a fellow imperfect democracy rather than on a cold analysis of America's interests.

Taken to extremes, realism's blindness to morality can lead it wildly astray. Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer, both staunch realists, wrote "The Israel Lobby," a hyperbolic attack on Zionist political influence. The central error of their thesis was that, since America's alliance with Israel does not advance American interests, it could be explained only by sinister lobbying influence. They seemed unable to grasp even the possibility that Americans, rightly or wrongly, have an affinity for a fellow democracy surrounded by hostile dictatorships. Consider, perhaps, if eunuchs tried to explain the way teenage boys act around girls.

Unlike the tax cuts, there are no sunset provisions in Obama's spending plans. As we've seen time and again, once an "entitlement" becomes law, there's very little chance of getting rid of it.

Obama's advisers are playing a dangerous game. There's no way to tax the income of the "rich" enough to pay for his quixotic plans. What to do? A national sales tax? Or will he push for a constitutional amendment to federally tax real estate and/or personal property?

Truth is, Killgore, we all make a living off rich people. No matter what business one is in. When the wealthy are not investing/spending it hurts all the way down. I know, my business is getting hammered too just like almost everyone else's. The 'social justice' of the Obama ones is a sure prescription for wide spread pain and poverty. If you are a lib you are more than willing to spike prosperity in the guise of some vague utopian ideal. It is not about the ideal however, it is about accumulation of power to those in the lead.

Middle class topped out at $70,000 in 2003

In a 2003 interview while starting his Senate campaign, Obama said that tax cuts should have been targeted no higher than the $70K level:

From that 2003 interview with the O:

Well, you know the problem was is that they weren’t targeted at the short term stimulus of the economy. What we should have done is if we were going to initiate tax cuts, and I’m a strong supporter of tax cuts for working families like the Earned Income Tax Credit, to initiate things like cuts in the Social Security tax, and other taxes that are really burdensome on families that are making 50, 60, 70 thousand dollars a year. Those tax cuts I think would have stimulated the economy.

They did gain conservatorship a couple of years ago, however, when she was found unconscious on the street in Boston.

That just sucks. Finnbar liked rocks when he was a pup, but, always pooped them out. We were very lucky.

I had a beagle that ate rocks. We didn't know what was wrong, but she didn't eat her dinner. When a beagle doesn't eat, you'd better get them to the vet straight away. Of course, it was the evening on a weekend--so that meant the emergency vet. $400 and surgery determined it was rocks she could not pass.

re: #238 David Simon

Unlike the tax cuts, there are no sunset provisions in Obama's spending plans. As we've seen time and again, once an "entitlement" becomes law, there's very little chance of getting rid of it.

Obama's advisers are playing a dangerous game. There's no way to tax the income of the "rich" enough to pay for his quixotic plans. What to do? A national sales tax? Or will he push for a constitutional amendment to federally tax real estate and/or personal property?

Y'know, I've stared at this post for a while now, and i can't really add much to what others have typed. I will say that it is my opinion that the populace in revolt is something no longer beyond comprehension. We have not seen the last Tea Party this year. The game's afoot!

Good for you! I like your 'focus'!

Several of the attorneys sort of circle around me in a know-it-all hovering style and 'zing' me with one liners about O's cabinet picks.
They'll say, "What do you think about _______?" My reply always brought an onslaught of cocky jabs.
Now, I don't bother with much of a reply. When they ask, I look at them with a blank look and ask them, "Why do you care what I think?" That usually gets them snickering. They're really not worth the energy, although, after Spector voted for the stimulus pkg., these guys were actually gloating and I was so annoyed with Spector I wanted to spit!

This 'slap in the face' behavior is quite tiresome!
