-RetweetUncle Jimbo Jumps the Conclusion

Blogosphere | Thu, Mar 5, 2009 at 5:38:02 pm PST

Over at Ace of Spades, Uncle Jimbo jumped to a completely unwarranted conclusion and proceeded to slam both Zombie and me, over Zombie’s article on the pro-Islam bus advertising campaign: No ads for Islam.

I guess I need a refresher on exactly what this freedom of speech thing is all about. I was under the impression that it meant pretty much what the words said, but apparently some folks don’t get it. Some supporters of Islam have had the temerity to assume that the first amendment applied to them, silly Muslims. The folks at LGF and the usually useful Zombie have taken umbrage and seem to think these practitioners should not be allowed to do PR.

I guess you do need a refresher, Uncle Jimbo, but in reading comprehension. Because neither Zombie nor I wrote a single word advocating that those ads should be censored or shut down.

If their ads piss you off then buy your own pointing out what horrible things get done in the name of the Religion of Peace.

Or maybe — write a blog post pointing out who is behind the ads? You know — by exercising that “free speech” thing you’re all hot and bothered about?

It’s hard to imagine a more wrong-headed, completely off-base attack.

 Frank says:

Well Mike, I'm abnormal. -- When FZ appeared on the Mike Douglas show (solo, playing guitar with recorded backup), Mike said "Your latest album is called Zoot Allures. How do you come up with such names for your records?" (or something equally banal!) Frank's succinct reply is printed above.
