Uncle Jimbo Apologizes, Banned User Lies

Blogosphere • Views: 4,017

At Ace of Spades, Uncle Jimbo apologizes: LGF calling me out.

For the record the post about the Islam ads in SF that Charles at LGF called me out for was lame and poorly written. If I don’t have time to do a quality piece I will wait until I do. Neither LGF nor Zombie called for censorship it was a clown protesting in Florida, my bad.

I apologize to them and for causing shame and approbation to be heaped upon the morons here at AoS. Now everyone f-ck off and get on with more important shite.

Thanks for that, Jimbo.

His post, however, has led to another round of LGF-bashing in the comments, which I would ignore except when I see things like this, from a user named “Angry White Dude:”

I signed up to comment on LGF a few months ago. I made about 3 comments and then was banned from the site. I didn’t write anything over the top. I emailed Charles to ask why but he never responded. I guess he didn’t like my no political correctness allowed website! I check out his site every now and then but, bluntly, find it quite boring. Ace is my first page of the day. Lucianne second. Angry White Dude third! AWD

Again we see a very common tactic of people who’ve been blocked from commenting at LGF — they go to other blogs and simply lie about the circumstances, to make themselves look better, and to make me look like some kind of arbitrary dictator/Hitler wannabe. I’m not going to let these lies stand.

Here’s the comment that got “Angry White Dude” banned, for the record; you decide if he was being honest when he said he “didn’t write anything over the top.” This comment was deleted as soon as I became aware of it (after several complaints from other users) and his account was blocked.

Hey towelheads, try wearing a cross or carrying a bible in the airport in Saudi Arabia! Sucks being a Muslim in the US, doesn’t it Haji? Especially when you wave it in everyone’s faces. As for CAIR, when it all comes down here, you’ll be the first target!

Angry White Dude

Now would be a good time for an apology, “Angry White Dude.” (No, I’m not holding my breath.)

Now would be a good time for an apology, “Angry White Dude.” (No, I’m not holding my breath.)

I am sure he would reread that and still think there is nothing wrong with it. It is because you would delete and ban something like that, that allows me to enjoy the discussions here.

Good Afternoon Lizards!

Angry White Dude's doing some blog-pimping. I looked at his site earlier. Looks like he's tired of not having "victim-power" of his own, and is trying to make the case that white men need some too. That's his message in a nutshell.

One note, this guy is not one of the foreigners, it's the late night salt dead thread types who I was referring to. AWD seems to fall in with the VDARE / Rockford Paleocon nexus, and appears to be in Detroit or thereabouts. Most of these groups and think tanks are heavily influenced by foreign elements as well, one of these days I'll get around to a "follow the networks" diagram that shows all the links, you have to see it to believe it.
AWD and many other stasist Paleocons get their Talking points and angst directly from these foreign groups in many cases. It's why so many on the right are bent out of shape by new Mosques in Europe while not paying a whit of attention to the war in Afghanistan.

That's an easy one; it's always worse to refuse to leave. "The March of Folly" by Barbara Tuchman is instructive on this regard. But the distinction I was trying to make was between someone who relishes "reigning in hell", and someone who (I think) is just in it, screaming

Thanks {yma}. It is, in a way, a true testament to Charles integrity when he sticks to that, instead of folding his tent to be the guy who's liked by everyone.
Moral courage is extremely rare these days.

Its always been rare - but yes, these days its getting even more difficult.

Add to that intellectual honesty - and you can see why so many prefer to spout lies and stupidity and whinges on other blogs, about what Charles does on his own LGF.

I think so too. I've noticed people are more so (tense, defensive, combative, etc.) in general - these are trying times.

Now that's just too weird, Mandy. The same thing has happened to me, started yesterday morning, except mine is underneath my eye. I'm very self-conscious about it, I've never had a tic before. I looked inside and checked the dip-stick for my stress levels and they seem to be about the same (as they have been since inauguration, anyway) ....but this bothers me.

Just took a look at the thread over there at Ace, and it seems as though all the creationists and fascist sympathizers have come out to bitch, whine, piss, and moan about Charles. How sad when your life is focused on complaining about one person.

And how even more sad when you cannot even grasp that your POV might possibly, perhaps, maybe, not the only one - and that these things can be argued over, civilly, like we do here.

Not prepared to learn a thing since they left school, methinks ...

I actually work with several people from Muslim countries. We never talk religion, so I have no idea of their religious beliefs, but I do know they all fled those Muslim countries, some with nothing but the clothes on their backs and maybe a little money in a foreign bank. Some lost very large wealth to get the heck out of those countries and live in freedom.

GENEVA, March 6 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a red "reset button" to symbolise improved ties, but the gift drew smiles as the word "reset" was mistranslated into the Russian for "overcharge".

"I would like to present you with a little gift that represents what President Obama and Vice President Biden and I have been saying and that is: 'We want to reset our relationship and so we will do it together," said Clinton, presenting Lavrov with a palm-sized yellow box with a red button.

Clinton joked to Lavrov: "We worked hard to get the right Russian word. Do you think we got it?"

"You got it wrong," said Lavrov, smiling as the two pushed the reset button together before dinner at a Geneva hotel.

He told Clinton the word "Peregruzka" meant "overcharge", to which Clinton replied: "We won't let you do that to us."

Whoooo Boy! Now I need a way to talk about this to reasonable/uninformed people without getting a tin foil hat handed to me.

There isn't one. Only bring up things like Cloward-Piven when you are dealing with informed, like-minded people. Uninformed people simply do not know enough to connect the dots. The best you can do with them is to explain how Obama's policies will hurt them. Give examples and be specific. Include sources they can use to educate themselves.

Besides, the Russians must still be laughing themselves silly after that letter from Obama offering to trade missels for help with Iran. Every leader in the world must be behind closed doors shaking their heads and swearing.

I wonder about Vesta, myself. It's the closest asteroid, on the inner edge of the Belt at 2.3 AU from the Sun. That close, you'd expect bits of it to ease into unstable orbits, and land on Earth like bits of the Moon and Mars do... and you'd be right (the "HED" meteorites) And it's differentiated... it's got an iron core, a mantle, and a crust.

I am afraid while Uncle Jimbo's apology for his inaccurate report regarding LFG may be hailed here on this blog we have lost sight that Uncle Jimbo has gravely damaged his earnings potential during these difficult economic times. The MSM will now never hire Uncle Jimbo. If only he had claimed though his report had flaws it was still "accurate" and reached a "deeper truth" he might still have a chance to work at NBC, MSNBC, CBS, or even the NYTIMES. I can't believe anyone would cheer at such a tragedy. It only shows how....(place your favorite invective here) LFGers are.

At least if you get beheaded, the State will prosecute the devout(?-from what I understand, Sharia doctrine is that husbands are permitted to mete out corporal punishment, but it must stop short of drawing blood, breaking bones, etc.) ripper who did you in. This has to have some deterrent effect.

Social custom in a lot of places is much nastier than actual Sharia. The problem with Saudi, Pakistan, etc. is not actually Islamic law, but long-standing traditions of strongmen doing what the hell they like without consequences. Now sometimes enshrined as "Islamic" tradition.

So, CNN thinks that Israel's possible choice of Avigor Lieberman as foreign minister (nothing solid yet, just a possibility) will further complicated the stalled peace process.

Memo to CNN:
The prime reason that the peace process is stalled is that one of the two parties involved - the Palestinians - would rather have a continual and destructive war that they can't win against Israel than have a peaceful coexistence in a 2-state solution. Hamas and Islamic Jihad don't want peace. They want Israel destroyed. Lieberman's elevation to such a high profile is a direct response to the failure of the continual concessions to Palestinians in the name of peace that undermines Israel's national security and only encourages further terrorist acts by Gazans and Fatah thugs in the West Bank.

In other words, CNN gets cause and effect mixed up. Figures, since they're on Israeli double standard time on all days ending in Y.

The term "purity police" or "purity patrol" was created by the fascist sympathizers here during the Vlaams Belang controversy. They didn't like being called out for their beliefs, and claimed they were being hounded by a "purity patrol" here on LGF.

Now that you mention that, I do recall something along those lines. Those were some crazy threads.

HOW TACKY IS THIS IDOT? I wonder if he had any time to send condolences to the leader of the British Conservative party on the death of his son. Probably not.

No - why should he.
PB0 has only met him briefly on that fabulous European tour of his - and Dave is just an opposition leader, nothing of interest.

If it had been anybody other than PB0 meeting Grd in the WH, I'd have speculated that Gord's reception was perhaps due to hth fact that they know he's on his way out, and they'd want to keep doors open for the next Prime Minister.
With PB0 - such a thought wouldn't have dawned on them at all, I don't think.

Actually, in Watchmen you can see the genesis of Trooferism. The villain in that story fabricates a faux alien attack that kills half of New York, in order to provide an incident that he hopes will unify the country.

Sound familiar?

Moore made good use of the meme in the comic. The tree that gave us the fruit of trooferism is plenty mature and has deep roots.

Brown, who is not known to be a movie buff, gave the president and his children several uniquely historical gifts.

The first of which is a pen holder fashioned from the oak timber of HMS Gannet, a Navy vessel that served on anti-slavery missions off Africa.

Another treasure given to Obama is a framed commissioning paper for the HMS Resolute, a Royal Navy ship that came to symbolize British-American goodwill when it was rescued by the U.S. from icebergs and given to Queen Victoria. It is the sister ship of the HMS Gannet.

Finally, Brown gave Obama a first edition of Martin Gilbert's seven-volume biography of Winston Churchill, whose World War II partnership with President Franklin Roosevelt symbolized the U.S.-Anglo alliance.

It makes me ill every time I read of these carefully thought out and executed gifts (as well as the gifts for the daughters), when I think of what the O and WAB gave in return. Just physically ill at their total lack of class and manners. These gifts between heads of state aren't really so much about the individuals who are giving and receiving, they are more a reflection of friendship and honor between two countries.

And for the O and WAB not to understand that is just heartbreaking.

What is far more worrying is that they seem to have overridden their own protocol department, who surely must have given them some advice and some options - and that they seem to think that the USA is best represented by movies.
It actually disses all the cultural achievements of so many Americans - its mind-boggling.

Charles, perhaps you should offer a public ban log for these idiots, so that you don't have to defend your reputation to hate-spewing, mindless bigots.

That reminds me of the request we had a few days ago about whether LGF should display a formal blacklist of fascist sympathisers and conspiracy believers.

We do, informally, have an unwritten "shit list" - every site has a mental register of sites and serial trolls they don't like - but it really would make us look bad to publish it. It might even drive up traffic to those sites; we'd get fascists and troofers deliberately coming here to visit (say) Lionheart or some similar BNP style weirdo.

Too many assholes would take their blacklisting with pride - a twisted version of how we take pride in insults from CAIR. Plus if a personal blacklist was public, CAIR would point at it and say, "look at this hate site and the pond-scum it attracts". And some of the guys Stinky boots aren't exactly, shall we say, entirely stocked with a full set of diamonds in their card deck. What if someone gets blacklisted, it's traceable to their real name, he loses his job and shoots himself?

So yeah. Let's not.

The 25 dvds given to Gordon Brown almost sounds like the Obama's are re-gifting something given to them. Somewhere someone wrote that Gordon Brown doesn't even like movies very much -- so much for the Obama team dong their research. The Obama's seem big on getting things -- no giving them.

It doesn't seem very stylish, or statesmany, and anyone who likes movies will have all the American greats they want already.

What is far more worrying is that they seem to have overridden their own protocol department, who surely must have given them some advice and some options - and that they seem to think that the USA is best represented by movies.
It actually disses all the cultural achievements of so many Americans - its mind-boggling.

Oh - and crass, because they must surely have been told that Gordon Brown is blind in one eye and can't see very well with the other.

I was wondering what happened to the protocol office - I'm sure one exists. Did they even consult with them?

And I did not know that about Gordon Brown, but couple that with the fact that US DVD's will not play in UK DVD players - it is mind-boggling. Simply mind-boggling. I feel personally insulted by that this couple failed to represent me properly to the gov't of the UK.

554 Miss Molly  Fri, Mar 6, 2009 12:11:56pm

Barry and Michelle have been given a "special pass" all their lives so there was no need to pick up on manners or taste. Apparently a protocole officer that would help them has essentially been "dismissed" because they make the decisions. This will only get better if Barry and Michelle let someone who actually knows what should be done make the choices.

Barry will get rid of the Churchill bust and most likely all others to make room for ones of him.

Parents facing prosecution after removing children from school in protest at 'Romeo and Julian' play

From your link:

Mr Latif, from Leytonstone, said: 'We were worried because weren't sure how they were going to teach our children these issues.

'We don't think it is necessary to teach it for a whole week and the children are so young. It is more appropriate for secondary school.

'Most children that age don't understand these things. When we took our children out of school we had to explain why - they didn't know what two parents the same sex meant.'

Lovely. Let's sexualize preteens.

Now Mr. and Mrs. Latif are in a position where they need to explain same-sex relationships to a nine-year old and a 10-year old who had not given a thought to such things so will have many questions, and they are worried about being charged with a crime for removing their kids from the "lesson."

And apparently Google has not been enlightened yet:

Mr Brown's gifts to President Obama included an ornamental desk pen holder made from the oak timbers of Victorian anti-slaver HMS Gannet, once named HMS President.

Another treasure given to the U.S. President was the framed commission for HMS Resolute, a vessel that came to symbolise Anglo-US peace when it was saved from ice packs by Americans and given to Queen Victoria.

Finally, Mr Brown gave a first edition set of the seven-volume classic biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert.

In return, President Obama gave Prime Minister Brown 25 DVDs of American classic movies.

The First Lady gave to Mrs. Brown for her two sons: Two Marine One toy helicopters, which apparently can be found at the White House gift shop for $15 each.

Not really unnatural. He didn't even have a father figure till he moved to Hawaii. Many boys in his position come to idolize the father they only knew from afar.

I'll grant that it is understandable, which is not the same as natural.

I wouldn't be surprised if it crossed his mind. Yesterday when I first saw the headline that he had given Brown 25 DVDs, I thought, "Of what? His inauguration?"

OK now this makes sense. I have to laugh at you Brits that thought Obama would love you back. Don't you know who he thinks he is?

Well, if thats the reason, then all I can say he's behaving like a badly brought up brat.
He has no business, as the leader of the most powerful country on Earth, to treat other nations like a mad autocrat who acts out his personal dislikes.
Worse - this is no way to treat one of the USA's staunchest Allies.

re: #608 SummerSong

Gawd, they are an embarrassment!

Indeed some people might purposely try to get banned here, but I know it's quite easy to detect these kinds of people. Of course there are exceptions.

Sure it might show that this site might attract some loonies, but it also shows that we do not tolerate such hate and idiocy here. The idea has its pros and cons, but right now there's a pretty negative image about the ideologies and opinions here.

His post, however, has led to another round of LGF-bashing in the comments,

The comments section is like an ignoranuses convention. They seem to be revelling in the opportunity (that they did not get here) to rant freely about the evils of Darwinism and the 'nit-picky political correctness' of rejecting fascism without their claims being immediately set upon and debunked.

At the same time they propogate this lie that they were banned for merely disagreeing. The truth is that these clowns typically 'merely disagree' for a while and then give up after seeing their arguments repeatedly destroyed. Then they deliberately commit a banning offence and appear on other sites with their little tale of heroism "guess what I did at LGF". I wouldn't be surprised if they started posting pre-meltdown videos on youtube.

715 lawhawk  Fri, Mar 6, 2009 12:39:33pm

Ouch. The economy is hurting everyone, and in NJ that means that Atlantic City is hurting pretty bad (and therefore state revenues from the casinos is down). It also means that a major Atlantic City casino project not going to happen. Okay, that's bad for the local economy since that's lost jobs. But here's the kicker:

The Las Vegas-based company put the project on indefinite hold last fall. It says it will either wait until the economy improves, or will sell the land if someone makes a decent offer.

"To build what we had hoped to build in Atlantic City takes an era of dreaming," he said on a conference call to discuss fourth-quarter earnings. "It takes an era where greed is good, we should all have a good time.

"We seem to be transported to Scandinavia: We have to hide our wealth, drive modest cars, conspicuous consumption is out," he said. "We live in an era where it's just not possible to build what we had anticipated in Atlantic City. Someday, hopefully it's a better world, or somebody shows up and offers us a better deal."

And even that looks iffy. Lee said the economic crisis has made it difficult if not impossible to accurately determine the value of land Pinnacle owns on and near the Boardwalk.

"If we had an auction on that land, I'm not sure anybody would show up," he said. "The city held an auction for Bader Field, and nobody bid."

What are the odds that the staffer who did the translation was a Bush administration hold over?

745 J.D.  Fri, Mar 6, 2009 12:44:57pm

Barack Obama bets the farm in $4 trillion poker game
The President believes he can change US politics for a generation. If he's wrong he could bankrupt the whole country

...What he unveiled last week was one of the most audacious agendas announced by a new president. He declared his intention not just to pump trillions of dollars into a short-term rescue for the economy, but also to press ahead with enormously costly plans to trigger a green industrial revolution, transform education and provide health coverage to all Americans. These are issues that have bedevilled Congress and other presidents for decades. Achieving just one would be an extraordinary achievement. Mr Obama wants all three - and fast.

What was most striking about the budget - including that it will explode the federal deficit to $1.75trillion this year, its highest since the Second World War - was that it was a ruthless declaration of how Mr Obama intends fundamentally to change the American social contract, from Right to Left.

Its goal is not just to rescue the economy. It is to crush conservatism, end the age of anti-tax, anti-regulation policies that have been the guiding philosophies of US governance for a generation, and usher in a fresh “epoch”, as his aides call it, of New Deal-Great Society wealth redistribution and central intervention that were repudiated by Ronald Reagan 30 years ago. Much of his agenda will be paid for by a ten-year, $1 trillion tax increase on families earning more than $250,000 a year, beginning in 2011, a move that critics say risks stunting the economic recovery.

Mr Obama and his aides are particularly attracted to the notion, put forward by the Yale political scientist Stephen Skowronek, that most of the truly transformative US presidents - and there are only a handful - followed failed ones. They include Thomas Jefferson after John Adams, Lincoln after James Buchanan, FranklinD. Roosevelt after Herbert Hoover and Ronald Reagan after Jimmy Carter. ...

I'd figured as much. I'm hoping to see the movie this weekend. The other thing Schlussel was upset about was that this R-rated movie was targeted to children. That is just bullshit. They'd have shot for a PG-13 rating if they were aiming at kids.

This movie most definitely is not targeted to children. After reading your great posts these past few years, I'm betting you will enjoy this movie, and your favorite character will be Rorschach.

I think WAB will have to take an urgent course in anger management when she's gotta spend time with Carla Bruni, a.k.a Madame Sarkozy.
She'll never ever manage to look as classy as Carla - and chacnes are PB0 will fall for her charme as well ...

Oooohhh - too delicious!

wab is going to implode when she sees carla who has a lot more to feature than her arms. wab will really try to avoid being photographed w/ her.

Schlussel is a two-bit demagogue and Charles has been on to her for many years now. Look at this: Most Americans in Lebanon Are Hezbollah Supporters. This while we were trying to evacuate them from the 2006 war. Yikes!

In winter, keep some ice on top of the thermostat, and set it low.
In the summer, aim a warm lamp at it.
You get the temperature you want, and waste even more energy.
But this way, you don't tamper with it.

No problem for me in the winter; 60 is fine.
But I start losing consciousness at 75.

And Dear Leader and WAB gave PM Brown and his family modern plastic crap, compared to the one-of-a-kind/rare items they received...how embarassing for our nation.

Stay classy, Dear Leader...

It's in part that they don't have empathy for other people. Their narcissism blinds them to all but the most blatant and based desires of other people. Don't you think there is a person in the White House who would have been willing to help them with these gift ideas?

There is professional staff there whose jobs it is to help the President with things like this...and they were apparently promptly ignored.

I have a hard time understanding that last sentence, it's very poorly written. "Target" has multiple meanings, not all of them implies to aim a bullet. For all I know AWD is a 3rd grader as his writing is at that level.

All that Charles has done is parked a Grauman's Chinese Theater spot light in front of his post. I could have missed Angry White Dude just fine during my LGF tour today. Perhaps Charles has had other run-ins with him and know more about his views than this 3rd grade post would indicate.

Plus one who doesn't think AWD's comments were over the top. Except for the wording, most of it was pretty accurate. And you needn't automatically threaten someone with bannination just for saying so. You can of course, you just shouldn't. Just remember, most of your posters here (including me) aren't the enemy.

I am so relieved and breathing easier knowing that not only did Unc Jimbo apologize, but he validated the apology with meaning, that it with his error in not researching the comments before taking umbrage.
I hope and trust that he follows up with his example of sincerity, and develops more of a dissenting

critical commentors who use his site to lambaste LGF .
Kudos Uncle Jimbo and also to Charles for accepting the apology so graciously.

I was surprised at AoS coming down on LGF and Zombie. I guess mistaking a commenter for the site is pretty common. I'm not surprised that he apologized so quickly. We all screw up, and a quick apology shows class. Maybe Charles should call people out before banning them, so they can apologize for their stupidity ... but there are only so many hours in a day.

Leave [bigoted word] out of his comment, and it isn't all that bad.

The evidence that he is a racialist, if not a racist, is pretty damned clear.

Angry White Dude? Try being friends with people with names like Farzad. You might be surprised.

847 strangelove  Sat, Mar 7, 2009 7:25:42am

I'm not clear on why AWD was banned. I don't think he threatened anyone in particular, and the first part of his statement, while crude, is in fact accurate: a Bible in a Saudi Airport will bring you trouble.

In my opinion, Islam is a real threat, and our timidity in confronting it here at home cost us dearly on 9/11.

Hopefully, Charles won't ban me for not supporting his ban on the guy who got banned.............:-P

848 Charles Johnson  Sat, Mar 7, 2009 8:06:19am

It doesn't matter to me whether or not you "support" the policies that I've stated very clearly. I will not accept the kind of language you see in that comment, and if you post something like that your account will be blocked too.

849 Charles Johnson  Sat, Mar 7, 2009 8:09:02am

It's a little amazing to see these people popping up with accounts that have been open for years but with very few comments, trying to tell me how I should run LGF, suggesting I should allow threats and racist slurs.
