What's to investigate? If the place is like the mosques in northern Virginia, you practically bump into the obviousness right on the sidewalks.

Nope - it's got to be 3M - that's one 'M' too many.

My great uncle worked for 3M and previously for Bing Crosby when he had his recording tape company (which was acquired by 3M).

There is a Mosque in Bridgeview Il, that was featured in Newsweek about
six years ago. Remember they had pictures of youngh girls playing basketball in Muslim garb? Newsweek did a glowing review.
The Chicago Tribune told a different story. One of the Mosque founders who sounded relatively moderate claimed that the Mosque was taken over by radicals that glorified Jihad & American & Jewish hatred.
We have a very dangerous situation with these Mosques.

Just wanted to explain the mental connection - 3M was formerly Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co.

A little history - interesting to note the role of Bing Crosby in the development of magnetic tape, to include videotape. (Sorry for the Wiki link for those who don't like it, but it's an innocuous subject.)

Bing Crosby - Mass Media Supporter

"Ampex developed a color videotape system in 1958 and recorded the spirited debate (dubbed the "Kitchen Debate") between Khrushchev and Nixon on a demonstration model at the Moscow trade Fair September 25, 1959. By this time, Crosby had sold his videotape interests to the 3M company and no longer played the role of tape recorder pioneer."

ARTIST: Buffalo Springfield
TITLE: For What It's Worth
Lyrics and Chords

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

We are seeing the results of these training camps in what happened in Pakistan. The 'militants' were able to switch ammo without stopping, and were co-ordinated to attack from multiple locations with no set escape vantage.

Mumbai was also a series of professional movements.

The media finally writing about this now is interesting. It's like they want to give Obama the chance to be a hero and finally acknowledge and do something about it. George W. Bush = bully. Barack Obama = hero.

Which is silly because I don't think he wants to do anything about it. The Obama administration can't really take advantage of a 'good crisis' if they avert the crisis, can they?

How long will they stick with this when CAIR does their little dance?

The open house was actually a CAIR event....
CAIR: FBI Director Invited to Meet Minn. Somali Community

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) today invited FBI Director Robert Mueller to take part in a community dinner Wednesday at a Minneapolis mosque.

CAIR-MN is co-hosting the dinner at the Abubakar As-Saddique Islamic Center as a way to increase understanding about the local Somali Muslim community and mosque. The Wednesday event is free and open to the public.

The invitation to Director Mueller comes in the wake of remarks he made yesterday claiming a Minnesota Muslim who allegedly carried out a suicide attack in Somalia had been “indoctrinated and radicalized” while living in Minneapolis.
...
"We invite Director Mueller to attend the dinner and to help us build channels of communication between the FBI and the Minnesota Somali community," said CAIR-MN Communications Director Jessica Zikri. “It is through open and constructive communication that we can best defend our nation’s security and protect civil liberties.”

Dinner guests, including commanders of local police precincts, will have an opportunity to observe an Islamic prayer before enjoying Middle Eastern and African foods. Speakers' presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

CAIR-MN said the mosque has received an increasing number of hate calls and e-mails since several Somali youth left the Twin Cities area, sparking rumors they were going to Somalia to join warring militias.

The open house and dinner are sponsored by the Abubakar As-Saddique Islamic Center, CAIR-MN and the Building Blocks of Islam.

I never buy coke or soda....so I'm not sure.... half liter $1.25 about, 8.9% tax where I live. But lots of hidden taxes on businesses. 2L bottle not sure a $2.00 - $2.50 depending on store or sales.

I can get one (.5L) out of the vending machine down the hall for $1.25 right now, and that's the highway robbery price. 2L bottles of Coke run about a $1 at the grocery, but more than $2 at a convenience store like 7/11. I usually buy 12packs of 12oz. cans at the grocery, which run about $3-4 but normally are offered with 2 for 1 or buy 2 get 3 free specials.

In D.C., I can understand why they might not have trouble finding/keeping ammunition. Until recently, it was all but impossible to own a gun legally and be able to actually shoot it. Demand is probably still catching up with supply there.

In the midwest states where the laws are less onerous, gun and ammunition sales have skyrocketed since November. And strangely, it's police forces that are scarfing much of the ammunition..... not the military.

You're right. And since the instructions aren't in the Koran, and that is all that is fit to read, he never read them.

The old timers here probably remember this thread after 9-11. It was a very interesting story.

The Time Traveler’s Tale by Dan Simmons

The Time Traveler appeared suddenly in my study on New Year’s Eve, 2004. He was a stolid, grizzled man in a gray tunic and looked to be in his late-sixties or older. He also appeared to be the veteran of wars or of some terrible accident since he had livid scars on his face and neck and hands, some even visible in his scalp beneath a fuzz of gray hair cropped short in a military cut. One eye was covered by a black eyepatch. Before I could finish dialing 911 he announced in a husky voice that he was a Time Traveler come back to talk to me about the future.

The Minnesota Supreme Court has rejected Democrat Al Franken's petition to be certified the winner of the November election for Senate. Franken leads Republican Norm Coleman by 225 votes.

The justices said that a certificate cannot be issued until state courts "have finally decided an election contest," and that states aren't required to issue such certificates by the date that Congress convenes.

I just had an idea.

Instead of having a tea party on April 15th, our annual tax day, let us instead have a Grape Kool-Aid party. Firstly to acknowledge the intimate connection between the ruling Democratic Party and the People's Temple. Secondly to acknowledge that the ruling Democratic Party and the Federal Government is now headed by a messianic socialist who is now leading his party and our nation to destruction. And thirdly as an open invitation to the ruling Democratic Party to simply GO AWAY! PERMANENTLY!

Grape Kool-Aid can be served at Tax Day demonstrations. Alternatively, packets of Grape Kool-Aid can anonymously slipped under the windshield wipers of cars displaying Obama stickers or into the mail slots and mailboxes of homes that still display Obama yard signs. (I live next door to one.) Again as an invitation to go away.

Acting and logical analysis of anything is something that is usually not associated with each other.

Reminds me of a line from "The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight" -
"He died of natural causes. His heart stopped beating when someone stuck a knife in it. In Brooklyn, this is natural causes."

OK, Kosh. I saved this for you... a guy is sitting on a park bench when another guy sits down, un-wraps a candy bay and gobbles it down it 3 seconds... and then another, and another & another. After the 5th candy bar, the first guy asks "Hey do you always eat like that" ? The 2nd guy answers, "My Grandfather lived to be 106"

So the first guy says " Do mean to tell me you Grandfather got to be 106 by eating candy bars?" The second guy says " No, he got to be 106 by minding his own freakin business"

You can learn a lot in Brooklyn.

Distant Thunder I am sorry to hear about this. You know my HS 20th reunion was last year and ironically this band teacher was arrested for sleeping with male band students right before our reunion. Truthfully we all knew in the 80's that he was taking students home and sleeping with them but we never said anything. He was not openly gay but we all knew and he gave plenty of extra curricular activities . We also had gym teachers who were pervs with us young women as well.

I think nowadays students are encouraged to speak up more than my generation was. At the reunion, we felt guilty because had we spoken up about the band teacher in 1987, he would not harm boys now.

We failed.

Nope, worse than BHO.

It was not the horrors of his revelations about my grandchildren that had shaken me the most deeply, shaken me to the core of my core, but rather the Time Traveler’s last three words. Three words that any Replayer or time traveler visiting here from a century or more from now would react to first and most emotionally – three words I will not share here in this piece nor ever plan to share, at least until everyone on Earth knows them – three words that will keep me awake nights for months and years to come.

Ya' gotta love that governator....not. When is his term up, anyway?

I'm not trying to defend Arnold, but I moved to CA right around the time he got elected and they ran his predecessor, Davis, out of town. And I do remember him trying pretty hard to reign things in during the first referendum/election cycle and he was resoundingly beaten back. He seemed to give up after that.
Blame the fucking people of California and the stranglehold they give the Democratic party on the state.

re: #474 Soona'

Ya' gotta love that governator....not. When is his term up, anyway?

He's not the problem. It's the heavily Dem legislature. Arnold was basically made ineffective when his attempts at strong arming reforms via the initiative process were successfully rebuffed by the very powerful public employee unions in CA. Since then, the name of the game has been 'compromise'. Until something can be done to break the backs of the unions or drive out the overwhelming majority in both houses of our State Legislature, then nothing will change. I don't remember if the redistricting initiative from the Nov. election passed or not. I seem to think it did. That's the first step in driving the bums out, but it will take a decade or two for the desired effect.

541 Summer Seale  Fri, Mar 6, 2009 3:34:32pm

A little late to comment, I know, but I've been reading about this for over a month.

The fact is, as far as we can tell, the kids who all left were most probably recruited to Al Shebab, "The Youth", which is the Al Qaeda connected terrorist organization which is currently imposing strict Shari'a in Somalia and which overtook Baidoa several weeks ago.

This is the same organization which the UN sponsored Somali government in exile finally started to deal with in talks of a possible joint rulership of the country. Most of the Al Shebab are anywhere from around twelve to fifteen years of age (or thereabouts) and are extremely high on Khat.

The fact that they were brainwashed here in the states to go and fight for these terrorists (literally) is even more troubling than that CBS report states. Some of them were missing for a year before the community started to have the guts to start speaking out about it, so this has been going on for quite a while.

The Somali guy in the piece who was talking was on NPR a few weeks ago and is very, very, concerned about what is happening in the community. He's one of the leaders that is trying to get families to admit their missing children and take the matter to the police and FBI.

Around 12 years ago I had the opportunity to work with some new Somali immigrants. The people I worked with were very nice, and except for the hijabs you wouldn't be able to differentiate them from anyone else. The one noticeable exception to this was an older Somali man. I was in charge of training new employees and he bristled every time I explained how to do something. I knew something wasn't quite right, and the hate in his eyes for me was very real and frightening. How innocent/naive I was back then.

Minneapolis isn't the only city that needs to monitor the mosques and the hate filled garbage in some of them. If I were a parent in the Somali community I would be raising holy hell until I found out who was responsible for the hate filled bs responsible for the disappearance and death of once innocent kids. Is the local news good about doing follow up reports? They used to be, but it's been a while since I lived there.

I heard the Cedar Riverside area is now looking pretty trashy since it's a haven for Somali immigrants. Any Minneapolis lizards care to comment?

Here we go again:

Hezbollah Scouts Out The Hague
Michael J. Totten
[Link: www.commentarymagazine.com...]

A United Nations tribunal to investigate and put on trial the assassins of Lebanon’s former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri opened this week in The Hague, and Hezbollah has been caught running reconnaissance missions outside the grounds.

According to French newspaper Le Monde, Dutch police have caught individuals affiliated with Hezbollah taking photographs of the tribunal headquarters on three separate occasions. A Hezbollah spokesman denies the accusation, of course, and I might even believe him if the police didn’t insist it already happened three times. If one person were caught taking photographs, we might write this off as a fluke or a misunderstanding. Two separate incidents are harder to dismiss. Three make a pattern.

If anyone would have asked me a week ago if I thought Hezbollah might use or even threaten to use force against the tribunal I would have said no, and I would have said no with confidence. Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah desperately wants to be thought of as the leader of a “resistance” movement instead of a terrorist army. He spattered his own brand with blood when his fighters, along with armed men from Amal and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, seized West Beirut with automatic weapons last year. But still, in recent years, he has only pointed and fired his weapons at Lebanese and Israelis. Westerners, even Jewish Westerners, have been strictly off limits.

Never forget, though, that Hezbollah has, in the past, used violence against people who are not Lebanese and who are not Israeli.

---

Hezbollah has been relatively restrained in recent years, but that’s not because the party has undergone a process of authentic transformation into something a bit more respectable. Hezbollah’s restraint is entirely practical and imposed from the outside. Its leaders and even some of its lower-rung supporters and members are the most paranoid people I have ever met in my life. They are deeply worried about an American assault or CIA-sponsored internal sabotage, and they’re rightly wary about what will happen to them if they start acting like Al Qaeda again. Hezbollah is barely tolerated while its fighters and rocket launch teams limit their violent attacks to their own countrymen and to the citizens of the “Zionist Entity,” but all that will change if Americans and Europeans are blown up or kidnapped again.

“Deduce the political conclusions you want,” Robin Vincent, Registrar of the Special Tribunal, said after the Dutch police filed their recent reports about Hezbollah’s suspicious behavior outside The Hague.

I don’t know what Hezbollah will do. For all I know it is only trying to throw its weight around by using empty threats and scare tactics. Non-violent menacing and harassment of Western journalists, for instance, is part of the job description of its “Media Relations” liaisons. An international tribunal, though, is a far graver threat to its patron and ally in Syria than anything the likes of me could ever write in an American magazine. It’s entirely possible that nothing will happen. It’s also possible that Hassan Nasrallah, for whatever reason, feels more emboldened or daring – or perhaps more dangerously desperate – these days.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday called upon US President Barack Obama to follow the path to socialism, which he termed as the "only" way out of the global recession. "Come with us, align yourself, come with us on the road to socialism. This is the only path. Imagine a socialist revolution in the United States," Chavez told a group of workers in the southern Venezuelan state of Bolivar.

You should have seen the WSJ today
Obama's Radicalism Is Killing the Dow

New and expanded refundable tax credits would raise the fraction of taxpayers paying no income taxes to almost 50% from 38%. This is potentially the most pernicious feature of the president's budget, because it would cement a permanent voting majority with no stake in controlling the cost of general government.

This is outrageous. Obama's plans will lead to 50% not paying income taxes. In what bizarro world does it make sense that people who have no stake in paying for the government get to make decisions on how much government there's going to be.
Rather than "No taxation without representation" we need a new motto...."No voting without paying Taxes"

No. In fact, he's completely switched sides leading the Group of 5 in their secret closed door meetings to cram a $50 Billion tax increase on Californians. He made a half-assed attempt a few years ago to get some of his pet conservative measures on the ballot and when the unions browbeat the citizenry into denying them all, he took his ball and went home, never to raise a conservative thought again.

We failed.

Yes, I had an English teacher that had a high school senior cleaning his house. After graduation she moved in with him.

My guess is that their local terrorist connections are really just that good. Unfortunately, there are few other organizations in Somalia today that are as reliable for information. That place is such a hell hole that it makes Somalia from the 1990's look like Club Med at this point.

In essence, Somalia is now another Taliban Afghanistan in the making. Nearly two decades of the most brutal civil war, gangs, Islamists, drug lords, non-intervention interventions, failed interventions, and clan warfare have just made that place a living hell on earth.

This is what happens when we abandon a country in need without a government. The UN Sponsored government is a fucking joke and now says that it accepts Shari'a simply to try to negotiate with the Islamists. And, like Afghanistan, you can't really bomb them back into the stone age because they are already there since nearly twenty years.

There is a healthy bar population in Riverside, as well as some high rises that, until they were taken over by the Somali community, were known as the Crack Towers. Until the grog ration was discontinued in 1970, Navy rum was 95.5 proof, or 47.75% alcohol; the usual ration was an eighth of a pint, diluted 2:1 with water (3:1 until World War II). Extra rum rations were provided for special celebrations, like Trafalgar Day, and sailors might share their ration with the cook or with a messmate celebrating a birthday.

Lotta people making a lotta cash supplying all the warring factions throughout Africa with arms. It's in their best interest to have war go on. Period.

Islamic centers usually based upon the need to benefiting womankind. Teaching them that liberty & freedom depends heavily on their right to choose husband at d age 14 (while he is 47 with 3 more old ones at home/tent/cave).

Regardless the facts, that combined together fashion and comfort. dressing heavily, including heir, face, neck, breast, hands, legs - even in mid Indian summer time - shows respect toward common spirit like the majority values in USA/EUROPE.

It's been handled poorly as far as I'm concerned. They handed out a letter for the students to give to their parents that simple said a district teacher has been charged with sexual assault. There are like 10 thousands students in the district, and hundreds of teachers.

Thereby ensuring that they will get approximately ten thousand calls from hysterical parents starting...NOW.

I have a separate glass shower stall so I could use that. I am dying here, it got worse in the last 30 minutes and too soon to take a Mucinex.

If you have white pustules in your throat, this is a distinct possibility (though step usually doesn't happen when it's really cold, but you never know). If your doctor can't get you in, Night Time Pediatics or another doc-in-the-box outfit can get a rapid culture for you tonight and antibiotics if that is the appropriate course of action.

Ooooh pregnant is tuff, can't do to much chemically... but manually opening the sinuses (gently pulling back under the eyes, beside the nose) is about the best you can do w/out a very invasive & expensive procedure, a doctor can kinda vacuum your sinuses, but I don't recommend it.

ot: Unreal. As a gift, Clinton gives the Russians a "Re-set" button. To help with, um, uh,... well I'm not exactly sure what a "re-set" button does. Problem is, it didn't translate to "re-set".

Here is an update.

GENEVA—Secretary of State Hillary Clinton opened her first extended talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov by giving him a present meant to symbolize the Obama administration’s vow to “press the reset button” on U.S.-Russia relations.

She handed a palm-sized box wrapped with a bow. Lavrov opened it and pulled out the gift: a red button on a black base with a Russian word peregruzka printed on top.

“We worked hard to get the right Russian word. Do you think we got it?” Clinton asked.

“You got it wrong,” Lavrov said.

Instead of "reset," Lavrov said the word on the box meant “overcharge.”

So they first trade away Poland and the Czechs and get nothing in return. Then they try flattery with the Russians and can't even find a person in the entire State Department who can speak Russian well enough to translate "reset".

This is what they call "Smart Diplomacy".

What. Idiots.

Here's a very interesting article, once again Minnesota seems to be at the cutting edge of what I don't know:

New Islamic mortgages now available in Minnesota.

So what's the difference if they pay the interest up front as in added value or fees rather than interest over the life of the loan? That one's got me scratching my head - it's just semantics.

Our own Treasury Dept. had a seminar on sharia finance - it's scary.

On November 6, 2008, the U.S. Treasury Department hosted a seminar on Islamic banking to train government employees on Sharia-compliant finance (SCF). According to a press release, it was “designed to help inform the policy community about Islamic financial services, which are an increasingly important part of the global financial industry.”

We can expect to see a lot more of this in the future.

This presidency is an embarrassment. We are going to pay dearly. From your link.

This was coupled with Michelle Obama's casual choice of gifts for the Brown sons - matching models of the helicopter which ferry her husband around. While Sarah Brown had spent time choosing gifts for the Obama girls, Michelle had clearly sent an aide to the White House gift shop at the last moment.

Not wishing to pry, but I'm puzzled by your domestic arrangements. I usually find it safer (and cheaper) to drink at home.

My wife is an alcoholic, and she is struggling (and not winning). I have pretty much quit drinking, although I enjoy reminiscing about good whiskey or a margarita.

Funny thing is the Brits are one of the examples the left wish us to be more like.

Supposedly Obama has a hate on for the Brits.

Barack Obama’s grandfather was imprisoned and brutally tortured by the British during the violent struggle for Kenyan independence, according to the Kenyan family of the US President-elect.

Hussein Onyango Obama, Mr Obama’s paternal grandfather, became involved in the Kenyan independence movement while working as a cook for a British army officer after the war. He was arrested in 1949 and jailed for two years in a high-security prison where, according to his family, he was subjected to horrific violence to extract information about the growing insurgency.

“The African warders were instructed by the white soldiers to whip him every morning and evening till he confessed,” said Sarah Onyango, Hussein Onyango’s third wife, the woman Mr Obama refers to as “Granny Sarah”.

Is this the same grandmother that claims she witnessed B Hussein's birth in Kenya?

Good news? Many of them have adapted the gang banger life style instead of the traditional terrorist one. We get emails on violent crimes on the campus and almost every one is committed by them. 800 redseeped  Sat, Mar 7, 2009 10:30:52am

This is not at all surprising. The Ottomans employed the Janissaries - a mercenary corp made up of mainly Christian young men who were usually kidnapped as kids in raids on their families and than converted to Islam. Once organized in military units they were a potent force for the Sultan, given the psychological impact on their victims who knew that the majority of those pillaging them were actually their own flesh and blood. This seems to have not been forgotten by the modern marauders of the West. In this case the double whammy is achieved by sending them back first to Somalia to terrorize their own ethnic brethren with the potential added bonus of bringing those who survive back to the U.S. to terrorize their fellow citizens.
Beautiful!

Have been lurking of late, mostly because some of the recent items have bothered me, re abortion, ID (and I am not a believer in ID), Christianity, etc.. However, you are correct in your critique of Radical Islam. I have seen it in A-stan, Iraq and the UK. It is as big a danger to us, in terms of freedom, as is The One. Both look for control. Islam of the soul and the mind. The One over the mind and the body politic. Both, apparently, will have us bow to a Master. Their God or the State.
Oh, what's that Stinky?.....I'm now banned?

Hi grumpy, good to see you. I hope that all is well with you.

All I meant in my comment is that those who show up on those threads that bother you, and complain that those threads bother them, and demand more posts (or nothing but posts) on radical Islam, could at least show the courtesy of typing some appreciation when there is a post on their favorite subject. You have not complained like that, or I haven't seen it. Lurking is a good option if you don't want to discuss the topics that are active.

Joking about being banned for politely expressing an opinion is not funny to me, because it implies that people get banned for merely holding a certain opinion. I have never seen that happen. I have seen bannings for making insulting remarks. That kind of "joke" comes close to insulting, I think.

I read your comment 3 or 4 times so far. If I figure out what you mean, I'll respond.

Hi, WW. just been very busy and swing by once in a while to see what's going on. Have been hitting other blogs, Tobacco Reviews, blade and Badger, etc., recently. Have also been busy with extra hours at work. I see no problem with believing in the Bibilcal account of creation, IF one considers that maybe God could not explain it to us idiots in another way. Some-of the other entries have been bothersome too.I'll hang around.
