9/11 defendants: 'We are terrorists to the bone'
By BEN FOX, Associated Press Writer
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
(03-10) 08:41 PDT SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) --
"Five men charged in the Sept. 11 attacks mock U.S. authorities and proclaim themselves "terrorists to the bone" in a war crimes court filing released Tuesday.
The five Guantanamo prisoners use the six-page document to try to justify the killing of nearly 3,000 people, portraying the attack as a response to U.S. actions in Israel, Iraq and elsewhere that is supported by their Muslim faith.
"We fight you over defending Muslims, their land, their holy sites, and their religion as a whole," they write in the document, which was submitted to the Guantanamo war crimes court and released by the Pentagon, in English, over the objections of attorneys for two of the men.
The five had previously said they wanted to plead guilty to the charges against them, and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind, had expressed pride in the attacks. But this is their most detailed response yet.
All five were charged with murder and other crimes at the Guantanamo war crimes court, which was suspended by President Barack Obama in January while his administration considers new strategies for prosecuting terrorists.
The charges, which carry a potential death sentence, "are badges of honor, which we carry with pride," they write.
The charge of conspiracy is "laughable," they write, because the planning was intended to be secret.
"Your intelligence apparatus, with all its abilities ... failed to discover our military attack plans before the blessed 11 September operation ... Why then should you blame us, holding us accountable and putting us on trial?"
They criticize the U.S. for fighting "from behind roadblocks, trenches and warplanes" rather than face-to-face and describe Islam as "a religion of fear" for Jews, Christians and pagans.
"We are terrorists to the bone. So, many thanks to God," they write."
Note at the end of the article their lawyer's defense: "You can't prove that they actually signed this statement!" Unbelievable.

Zombie, Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Unfortunately, a lot of people in Obama's administration (such as Charles Freeman) would agree that 9/11 was a response to the US's support of Israel.
How would Troofers reconcile the veracity this document? Oh, wait. They'd say it was manufactured by Bush and Cheney as part of the grand conspiracy.
Speaking for myself, I would have absolutely no problem executing these murderous fucks. Why the hell they are even still breathing is beyond me. Bush couldn't execute them because he would have been accused of "war crimes." Obama won't execute them, because . . . well, if I say what I think the real reason is, I'll get deleted.

Gravity
Now there's an idea!
We could set up a cap and trade program for overuse of gravity. In order to limit the ill-health effects of gravity on the population of the planet, each person will have a gravity quota. People will pay according to their mass. If they overuse gravity, they will have to buy gravity credits from small people or people who don't own anything that weighs a lot in order to continue their disproportionate use of gravity or decrease their use of gravity buy selling their gravity-hog SUV's and other heavy stuff. Small people can then use their gravity credit money to buy large plasma TV's and yachts and such.

NOW does the right thing:
Coalition decries ‘honor killing’ label
But NOW leader won’t retract term
A coalition of eight family and women’s groups are calling on the National Organization for Women to retract comments by its New York president linking the death of Aasiya Z. Hassan to a Muslim “honor killing.”“We were so shocked by her comments,” said Laura Grube, coordinator for Child & Family Services Haven House, a coalition member.
The comments by Marcia Pappas, NOW’s state president, were insensitive and harmful to domestic violence victims, she said.
But Pappas stood her ground and said that dozens of Muslim women have written to thank her for speaking out.
“There will be no retraction,” she said.

You know, at some point it has to dawn on The One that everyone he regards as an ally, a "soulmate", or just as the "good guys" are in fact a bunch of raving koo-koos.
At which point, if he has any capacity for introspection at all (as opposed to just egotistical narcissism), he will have to ask himself, "What does that make me?"
That is when I suspect he will fulfill my prediction that he will be in the back of the closet in the hallway off the Oval Office, curled up on the floor, sucking his thumb and whimpering. Because he will finally realize that he has, literally, bitten off more than he can chew. SCIENCE!
Assembling ammunition in advance reveals ape's unsuspected ability to plan for future
Santino, a 31-year-old male at Furuvik zoo in Sweden, may be the first animal to exhibit an unambiguous ability to plan for the future, a behaviour many scientists argue is unique to humans. Forward planning takes considerable cognitive skills, because it requires an animal to envisage future events it will have to deal with.Santino would get agitated when the first groups of visitors arrived at his enclosure in the morning, and would start hurling stones at the spectators. When the zookeepers investigated, they found that, while the zoo was closed, Santino had been busy making piles of ammunition, and returned to them to resupply.
To catch the chimp in action, one zookeeper hid in a room overlooking the enclosure and observed the ape's behaviour before the zoo gates opened each morning. She saw Santino dragging stones from a protective moat that surrounded his island home, before placing them in piles. Further covert surveillance of the ape revealed he spent some time tapping areas of concrete floor with his fist. Occasionally, the animal would thump harder, releasing chunks of concrete that he broke into rough discs.
A survey of the enclosure showed that Santino made piles of ammunition only on the quarter of the island's shore that faced the visiting crowds.

Late to the party today, everyone. Sorry.
Given Freeman's desire to not be nominated and given the number of open positions, especially in the Treasury, why haven't I heard as many comparison's between Obama's administration filling up slowly and the delay Bush had in getting his administrative positions filled with the wait for the courts to finish reviewing the Florida results in 2000?
I mean, in this case, Obama won it (I won't say fair and square as I have serious misgivings about Acorn). He had time to get people lined up. He has seriously dropped the ball just in filling out the employees he needs to run his administration.

Newsweak has an Obama poll up. You can grade him on his performance.
I gave him an "F".
Same here. He has proven himself to be almost completely inadequate on all counts.
Last week, according to the Columbus (OH) Dispatch, while on the plane to Columbus to make his appearance at the Columbus PD's recruit graduating class, he and AG Holder "had words" with Congressman Zach Space (D-OH) about the reimposition of the Assault Weapon Ban. Space, a moderate Dem who was endorsed by the NRA, was opposed, and said so, politely. The One and Holder's responses were apparently anything but polite. The gist being that if he didn't break his campaign promise to oppose gun-control measures, he would have a hard time getting re-nominated, much less re-elected.
Space supports a lot of what The One wants to do (notably with the banks), and his vote carries quite a few with it in the House. If he were to be defeated in the primary by a liberal who supported anti-gun laws, his (mostly rural) district would most likely immediately revert to a moderate/conservative Republican. Which means no support for anything The One wants, from that seat, at all.
The One, who talked about "bipartisanship" when campaigning, apparently cannot grasp the principle of reaching a compromise with members of his own party- it's either "my way or the highway" with him, all the time.
That's how the Daleys (pere' et fils) have run Chicago going back to the Seventies.

It's an abberation for both companies as no one is buying cars right now, and Apple finally figured out how to make a product that sells. May I remind you of how well the Mac sold compared to other PCs? IIRC, Apple was left for dead only 10 years ago.
Apple was only "left for dead" as part of a ridiculous smear campaign in the late '90s that was totally unconnected to Apple's profitability and viability. Microsoft went on a full-court press when they released Windows 95 to make Apple look bad and finally bury them once and for all. Many media outlets were happy to play along. But despite a year of MSM Apple-bashing and mocking, the company still had tons of money in the bank and still had a top-notch R&D department working on design breakthroughs. Within months of launching the iMac in '98, Apple once again began making money hand over fist on its hardware sales, and hasn't looked back since. 11 unbroken years of solid profitability is hard to argue with. Their early-mid '90s "rough patch" is now just a distant memory. Apple's future still looks very rosy. Even aside from computer hardware, they are now the key player in the music industry, as most music is now downloaded digitally, and iTunes dominates the digital market. Apple makes money on nearly every song that is purchased around the world. If all Apple had was iTunes and nothing else, they'd still be a major company. But add on to that iPhones, iPods, and then computer sales -- at this stage they're a juggernaut of profitability.

But the press wasn't really happy with Apple until Steve Jobs came back. He brought vision that the press believed was sorely lacking--regardless of the dollar figures in the bank. The press is again nervous about Steve leaving--for good this time.

I've long suspected that MS was engaged in a pre-emptive strike, PR-wise, in the hopes that people would be so busy talking trash about Apple, they wouldn't notice just what a cranky, lashed-up, cluster-f**k Win95 really was.
And at that, it is still more usable than any of its successors. I still use it on a 1995-vintage IBM Aptiva.
And my best bud, the E-5, still uses MS/DOS on his PC at home. He has Windows 3.1 installed- and only opens it when he needs it to play Fantasy General.
