More of the ugly misogyny that makes the religious apartheid Kingdom of Saud so special: Saudis order 40 lashes for elderly woman for mingling.

(CNN) — A Saudi Arabian court has sentenced a 75-year-old Syrian woman to 40 lashes, four months imprisonment and deportation from the kingdom for having two unrelated men in her house, according to local media reports.

According to the Saudi daily newspaper Al-Watan, troubles for the woman, Khamisa Mohammed Sawadi, began last year when a member of the religious police entered her house in the city of Al-Chamli and found her with two unrelated men, “Fahd” and “Hadian.”

Fahd told the policeman he had the right to be there, because Sawadi had breast-fed him as a baby and was therefore considered to be a son to her in Islam, according to Al-Watan. Fahd, 24, added that his friend Hadian was escorting him as he delivered bread for the elderly woman. The policeman then arrested both men.

Here is a little episode involving Saudis, from earlier today... There are Saudi Officers here, on some sort of exchange program. I met them in January during a "social". They were very nice, drank lots of beer and were as friendly and fun as can be. Today, I ran into one of them.... Since he outranks me, I saluted him, he saluted back, "How are you doing, bla-bla-bla..."...whatever...Then, I saw something that made me very uncomfortable... His poor wife was walking behind him... Dressed in a FULL black potato-sack/burqa...Just the eyes were exposed! For some reason, it just really pissed me off. I now consider this man an utter hypocrite... HE can go out, party it up, chug beer, while she has to wear this ridiculous getup, to walk around on an American military installation? Something is not right. Then again, maybe I am just a bigot.

I threatened to report them to the base for their vulgarity-and their country for being apostates...I didn't get killed, and they left with no further importuning of female customers. This is why I don't particularly mind the Global Warming hoax, even though it was originally intended as a scheme to destroy capitalism. Because a side of effect of all this money being poured into "solving global warming" is the acceleration of our development of "alternative" energy sources. I.e., it will help to wean us off oil. It's for all the wrong reasons, of course, but hey, I'll deprive the Saudis of cash any way I can.

Now, if it weren't for that part about cutting off the oil about 10 years before any feasible alternatives are ready, that might be a good thing.

Why do they have to cut us off from oil, anyway? If these new alternatives are so superior, they'll have us switching to oil due to the savings anyway.

Remember, it wasn't any government act that weaned us off whale oil. It was J.P. Morgan's commercial use of petroleum as a feasible commercial alternative that did it.

(I love mentioning to lefties that J.P. Morgan saved more whales than Greenpeace ever will.)

This question can only be answered by Richmond City Schools which your friend can Google for the e-mail address and phone number. He should go to the different level administration offices... elementary, middle or high to find his answers. The reason for this is because at each level there are different rules. High school students for example can go to different "model" schools which have different themes - fine arts, science, governor school, etc. Of course, the student will have to apply to those schools. My last experience with the elementary level was that they had dropped the option for a child to attend any elementary school the family wanted on the first come first serve basis. Parents used to line up at Fox as early as 4 am to enroll. This now does not happen. As for middle school I never heard one way or the other. But, with the disorder and chaos the defines Richmond schools, the current policy could have changed again. To my knowledge at this time a student must go in the area he lives. It is subjective to say whether or not there are good options out there for high performing kids....everything is a trade off... Best of luck to your friend.

From a Cat's Diary

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs..

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now................

To pacify you I have posted the following message on our front door:
Rules for Non-pet owners who visit and to complain about our pets:
1. They live here; you don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.
3. I like my pet better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he and/or she is my friend and room mate who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and is speech challenged.
5. Dogs and cats are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, leave the gas tank empty, or drive your car into something. They don't hang out with drug using friends, don't drink or smoke, pets don't worry about buying the latest fashions,don't wear your clothes, don't need a gazillion dollars for college,and you can have them spayed and/or neutered. But if they get pregnant, you can sell the results.

I helped a good friend do that a while back. Managed to get into the "sealed" medical records and get a name. (we knew the delivering MD). Then traced the mother back through various addresses until we found someone who actually knew her. The rest was easy. All parties were so very happy to get back together it was really worth the effort. It didn't "take" on a long term basis because of religious differences of opinion, but they know how to find each other and that is important. The Mom said she was waiting 20 years for the phone call.

If one had an Airborne contract before they went to Basic, and passed the physical, they could do it. In case of National Guard, if their state could pay for it, they could do it. Any MOS.

It's been a long time but I'm pretty certain you're correct. IIRC, as enlisted you had to be heading to an airborne assignment. Officers could volunteer. I remember some limited exceptions for cadets, either ROTC or USMA but those rules are probably outdated.

If one had an Airborne contract before they went to Basic, and passed the physical, they could do it. In case of National Guard, if their state could pay for it, they could do it. Any MOS.

So you are in Engineer branch? I have stories. You have good company RE Lee, Sappers were always where the brains went, that or Artillery, the rule is for Cavalry you had to be slightly smarter than the horse.

If you are lucky and you have good NCOs then it is a great job, planning means that you are already way ahead of the fools now running , well now running your life actually, but I'll try not to get you in trouble

I have the same major. What scared me about those floating bridges was we always crossed at night and the only person guiding me was some guy with two weak glowsticks waving me across....and sometimes the rivers were 1/2 frozen with huge chunks of ice slamming into the side of our APC and I knew if we slipped off, there was no way we could swim it to the other side. The current was too fast and the water too cold.

The Ambassador's Departure

His excellency, Chas Freeman, was silent, he is silent no more. Chas is silent about a lot of things, but not when it comes to blaming Israel. I am sure he is a bright guy, he taught himself Chinese and was at Nixon's side in China in 1972. OK.

But somewhere along the line Freeman forgot a few things.

Little things like who he works for and how unseemly it is to take money from the people to whom he supposed to represent THIS country's interests to. How dare this man blame the Jews when HIS Rolodex overflowed with Bin Ladens and Bin Talals and other very special people who should be in Gitmo not rocking the discos and casinos of Monaco on their 300 foot yahcts. He was silent when the Saudis were spewing radical Islam planet wide and never said boo as they made the Protocols of the Elders of Zion available in every Mosque worldwide. When the Saudis almost got overrun by Saddam in 1990, Chas was there at the front lines of despotism, his heroic efforts for his Saudi masters earned him the Medal of Abdul Aziz, a prestigious medal indeed from the only country in the world where women can't drive and if they try run from a burning building without veils, the religious police send them back in to burn to death. It should be noted that King Abdullah is trying to reign in the religious police and TALKING about reform, Chas Freeman never suggested taking these steps.

But I draw the line at this man's full throated attacks on Israel. Freeman, I resent your comments in the extreme. Next time you visit Foggy Bottom, go look up a predecessor of yours, Breckenridge Long. Breck was a special guy. An anti-semite, like you, he made sure the Jews of Europe had no where to run during WWII. So they died. Almost all of them. You see Chas, one third of the Jewish people perished because a butthole of a diplomat lacked the slightest semblance of a soul. The survivors of my people are congregated in Israel. There was nothing to go back to in Europe, if they even could go back, so the Jews went to Israel. Fellow Arabist Secretary of State, George Marshall was all set to not recognize the creation of Israel; Israel exists because President Truman recognized Israel at once to prevent Marshall from saying no. So you see Chas, my fellow American Jews, and Israel's many, many friends in this country, believe we have a moral obligation to protect Israel from those who seek to destroy her, including nogoodniks that work in the halls of power. We think that maybe the Jewish people should not be singled out for bigotry and genocidal hatred. Just because you think its OK to take big chunks of Saudi money and not disclose it, doesn't mean we do. The Jewish Lobby did not do you in, the asshole you see in the mirror every morning did. I have read some of the comments of Israel's enemies about your pullout and it sounds like their heads are just exploding over this. GOOD. Let them keel over while masturbating to the latest Norman Finkelstein screed or YouTube of George Galloway kissing the "holy" soil of Gaza. They are not rational about Jews and Israel anyway, so anything that sets the snakes in your collective heads a dither is all to the good.

Today is the Jewish Holiday of Purim, we celebrate the downfall of another evil adviser to the east, this time to the Persian nation; he tried to kill us. Perhaps you deep down would never have hurt Israel but your ugly exit remarks justify any Jew who thinks our people have a right to live in this world to remain vigilant and watch for potential enemies. Happy Purim Chas! Perhaps Prince Bin Talal will send you another seven or eight figure check (its our money anyway) as a way of thanking you to remember to blame the Jews for your own misfortune. You can stick that check with your failed nomination where the sun doesn't shine.

Thank you so much Charles for shedding the light on such stories. They hardly get enough media attention, no one wants to upset the Saudis.
This is not surprising from the country that wanted to punish a gang rape victim last year, and only international pressure made got her an amnesty from the king. An Amnesty to not get lashed because she got raped, no words can explain that in any language.

I thought Abdullah would get a handle on the religious police by now. I think Fahd got blackmailed by them, but Abdullah was "clean" enough and tough enough to shut them up.

I guess Abdullah doesn't care much about the west's opinion? He's like 85 years old, so maybe whoever succeeds him will get Saudi close to the 18th century.

Of course, the 18th century might not be such a bad place, given the slouch towards socialism we seem to be experiencing. I found a college-era copy of Common Sense in the attic last night and gave it a read. Good stuff. Still looking for my copy of Atlas Shrugged.

I don't have time to read 814 comments but I just Googled Saudi Arabia Embassy US and got to the web page of the embassy and it is very easy to write them I just sent them a castigating letter and I suggest that everyone else do likewise. Don't hold back. Let them hear how this strikes American citizens! Thank you, and Thank You Little Green Footballs for letting me know about this story.
