Who am I? .....I was born in one country, raised in another. .....My father was born in another country. .....I was not his only child. He fathered several children with numerous women. .....I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in me.. .....My mother died at an early age from cancer. .....Later in life, questions arose over my real name. .....My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable birth certificate. .....I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was widely accepted in my country, but I practiced non-traditional beliefs & didn't follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny. .....I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising myself as someone who really cared about them. .....That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a new career. .....I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child. .....I became active in local politics in my 30's then with help behind the scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office in my 40s. They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything. That reinforced my conceit. .....I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no experience in leading a single organization. Yet I was a powerful speaker and citizens were drawn to me as though I were a magnet and they were small roofing tacks. .....I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances. This bolstered my ego. .....At first, my political campaign focused on my country's foreign policy. I was very critical of my country in the last war and seized every opportunity to bash my country. .....But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country's economy. I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do better and every poor person would be fed & housed for free. .....I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess. It was the free market, banks & corporations. I decided to start making citizens hate them & if they were envious of others who did well, the plan was clinched tight. .....I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics & was able to gain widespread popular support. .....I knew that, if I merely offered the people 'hope' , together we could change our country and the world. So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of the downtrodden, poor, ignorant to include "persecuted minorities" like the Jews. My true views were not widely known & I needed to keep them unknown, until after I became my nation's leader. .....I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found out what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with. I'm glad they didn't. ....Then I became the most powerful man in the world. And the world learned the truth. .....Who am I?

Answer to come later.

Hi Afrocity.

Why "twitter"? I wonder what the market research said.

Sounds silly to me. I am not old fashioned. I just have enough to worry about in life without complicating matters or giving someone another reason to communicate with me when I am sleeping, relaxing, eating, pee-ing, pretending to be sick etc.

There are two things I have avoided. Facebook and Twitter (OK 4 if you count hooking up the company email to Blackberry and Blackberry messaging itself).

To me it seemed like those things let someone else try and control my attention instead of me (and Blackberry messaging is just plain rude).

Of course I know about the off button but can someone give me their own counterpoint on why these things were good for them?

Oh yeah, I agree. He is now a grown man. But he seems incapable of getting past his anger toward his father. And it is anger, no matter how well he speaks of him. It's time for him to realize his father never did a damn thing for him. In reality, and for his own mental well-being, he should ignore the fact that he ever had a father, just like his father ignored him. Time to grow up and get past it.

Didn't Bubba have a stepfather though? Or was it that he was always having "new daddies"? But look at how his being fatherless manifested in him. He has no respect for women. Maybe he blames his mother for his father leaving. I don't recall all the details, I am just throwing out some suggestions.

May we contrast? I had no father growing up. No father, no step-father. No one. But I am not a flaming Marxist. Obama and everyone who grows up without a father has a disadvantage, but it does not change the fact that s/he must learn to live and must make choices based on what skills s/he already has.

I can't help but wonder if Obama doesn't have a lot of problems with both his Father and his Mother. So we are agreed that while parents (or lack thereof) can play a part in the mental health of a child, there must come a point when the child becomes an adult and should move past the problems of the past. It's not easy and requires a lot of introspection, but it should be done.

Now: Does Obama show any indication that he is introspective? If his books are to be trusted, I would say "yes," given that he has looked at his past. But he does not seem to be able to let go of his past. That makes me think he really isn't a grown-up yet. He hasn't learned to take responsibility for his own choices.

Is that accurate?

I could be introspective if someone paid me an advance of 6 of 7 figures. The question is does he reflect on his actions now in light of his psychological past? Does he do it privately at all or does he just do it for money?

The county game warden, Joe, heard a rumor that a local man, Fred, was dynamiting area lakes and scooping up the fish, which was horribly illegal. So the next time he sees Fred, he mentions that he has heard Fred's fishing luck is pretty good, and asks if he can go along some time. "Sure thing!" says Fred. A few days later they are headed out onto the lake in Fred's boat. Fred shuts off the motor, and the boat glides to a stop as Fred lights a cigarette. As the game warden watches, Fred pulls a stick of dynamite out of the well, and lights it off the cigarette. The game warden is horrified, and immediately tells Fred he is under arrest for illegal fishing methods. Fred watches as the fuse gets shorter, and then hands the warden the dynamite and asks, "Joe, you gonna talk, or are you gonna fish?"

Well, it says:

A recreational fisherman must purchase and have in possession a valid basic recreational fishing license to possess fish in Louisiana waters or to use the following:

Bow and arrow
A barbed or barbless spear
Frog gig/catcher
Scuba Gear
Hook & line (trot line)
Cast net with a radius not to exceed 8 ft. 6 in.
Rod and reel

Dynamite not included; so I guess it's FREE!

Actual 'Letter to the Editor' from the February 5th edition of the Wichita Falls , Texas Times Record News....

Dear IRS,

I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to pay taxes owed April 15, but all is not lost. I have paid these taxes: accounts receivable tax, building permit tax, CDL tax, cigarette tax, corporate income tax, dog license tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gasoline tax, hunting license tax, fishing license tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax, inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, Medicare tax, city, school and county property tax (up 33 percent last 4 years), real estate tax, social security tax, road usage tax, toll road tax, state and city sales tax, recreational vehicle tax, state franchise tax, state unemployment tax, telephone federal excise tax, telephone federal state and local surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state and local tax, utility tax, vehicle license registration tax, capitol gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and New Mexico sales tax, and many more that I can't recall but I have run out of space and money.

When you do not receive my check April 15, just know that it is an honest mistake. Please treat me the same way you treated Congressmen Charles Rangle, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, ex-Congressman Tom Dashelle, your Boss Timothy Geithner, and the apparent majority of your Cabinet who have not paid their Income Taxes.. No penalties and no interest.

--Ed B_______ Wichita Falls

P.S. I will make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check.

I'm getting ready to start The Shack, by William Paul Young. I have no idea if it is really good, but it's highly ranked, and we're going to use it as a study in our Sunday School class. I would have been horrified by this years ago, but I think I've grown beyond that.

Using the Twitter API, the LGF Blog now automatically sends out a Twitter update whenever a new article is posted. A “tweet,” if you will.

To quote the Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce:

"TELESCOPE, n.
A device having a relation to the eye similar to that of the telephone to the ear, enabling distant objects to plague us with a multitude of needless details. Luckily it is unprovided with a bell summoning us to the sacrifice."

I'd like to update that, in relation to this post:

"Twitter, n.
Software having a relation to the screen similar to that of the cell phone to the ear, enabling distant Web pages to plague us with a multitude of unwanted notices. Unfortunately, it is provided with a "tweet" summoning us to the sacrifice."

In other words: If I want to visit a Web site, I'll visit it. And if I don't want to visit it, I won't visit it. I don't need Twitter bossing me around!

Spencer takes a shot at Charles over the Malo protests....

This Malmö Update shows once again the strength of the Leftist/Jihadist alliance. It also demonstrates anew that genuine neo-Nazis and white supremacists (such as the Aryan Nations and this group in Malmö) are anything but pro-Israel. This may appear to you to be obvious to the point of not needing to be said, but some irresponsible bloggers have created and propagated, on the flimsiest of evidence, the myth of the pro-Israel neo-Nazi. And so back on planet earth, it bears repeating: actual neo-Nazis, neofascists, white supremacists, etc., as opposed to those who are smeared with such labels by libelbloggers, hate Jews and Israel.

Too much of anything can be bad. You are too young to remember the fad. Everyone suddenly yacking on the air all the time. My mother had one in her huge Vista Cruiser station wagon, along with the 8-track; she could not stop talking. All that chatter must have driven the truckers nuts. I bet they were happy when it was over.

Same with Twitter. I agree with Zombie on this one. Has its uses; I have an account that I might use when overseas to keep family up on what I am doing rather than making lots of individual calls. But I get requests from people I barely know or remember to "follow" me. No thanks!

The men were found in an overturned vehicle next to the community. The army is searching the area for the assailants, who are believed to have headed for PA-assigned areas of Samaria.

ROTFL! What was that? That's hilarious!

Pics from the annual Hon Contest in Hampden (about 10 minutes from here - my domestic shorthair cat is from Hampden (my roomie found her there as a tiny kitten and rescued her)) - part of HonFest.

You'll see hons in any John Waters (Baltimore's native son) movies. :D

HonFest is a local tradition. The Bawlmer term of endearment, Hon, short for Honey, embodies the warmth and affection bestowed upon our neighbors and visitors alike by historic working-women of Baltimore. HonFest is an annual celebration in honor of these women.

Since 1994, HonFest has grown from a tiny Baltimore's Best Hon pageant behind Café Hon, to a nationally recognized festival that covers four city blocks on Hampden's very own 36th Street. In recent years, the festival has been acknowledged by The New York Times, Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels, Nightly News with Brian Williams, The New York Post, Southern Living, The LA Times, HGTV, CNN, and just this April by The New Yorker.

For some time, someone kept adding "Hon" to the "Welcome to Baltimore" sign on the highway. The state would remove it, and people would put a new extension up. Frankly, they should just add it to the sign permanently.

Bubba's birth name William Blythe. His father was killed in a car accident before Bill was born. Momma married Roger Clinton when Bill was about 4.

I'm getting ready to start The Shack, by William Paul Young. I have no idea if it is really good, but it's highly ranked, and we're going to use it as a study in our Sunday School class. I would have been horrified by this years ago, but I think I've grown beyond that.

Ken Follet, World Without End is very good.

re: #124 Fat Bastard Vegetarian

Friend is a voice teacher. Got a $6,000.00 (US) cashiers check the other day to teach a student who is coming in for 3 months from the UK for voice lessons. Half of the money is to be sent to the "caretaker" of the minor student.

The man called to verify the transaction and the voice teacher's husband answered the phone.

Uh...yeah.

Hmmm - It sounds like the voice teacher's husband is also qualified to be a part of the team vetting future members of O's administration.

re: #104 Killgore Trout

I don't think Oregon allows night fishing at all. I'd be too obvious wandering around the river with a flashlight in the middle of the night.

I used to go to this trout pool in North Vancouver BC by the Capilano(sp) Bridge. You could throw a piece of bread a foot from the water and a huge trout would occasionally leap on shore grab the bread and flop back in the water.

Dynamite not included; so I guess it's FREE!
Until, of course, State Police catch up with you.

When I was young you used to be able to buy dynamite at the hardware store.

You could buy a flat film sticker with wireless tweeter code on it that tweets you a moonbats GPS location once a minute to your iPhone. Powered by rage and sweat. The most angry moonbats lite up on your graphical display. Your iPhone tweeter app annotates how far away from you they are and whether or not they are moving to or from you.

LGF is all a-twitter...

LOL.

This is cool, Charles. I love Twitter. Not exactly sure why I love it, but I do.

re: #20 Bloodnok

Charles should have a Lizard banning update via Twitter.

"12:54 - Spacejesus has been banned"

/I still won't join. Most days I don't even know where I am...

Excellent idea, lol.
