WOW. Did you know that lefty boards are burning up with "What did Obama know and when did he know it?" over the AIG bonuses? Huffpo, Kos, Greenwald, Firedoglake (I went to Kos for my daily ration of eyeroll, and they're all linking each other). There's some sort of evidence now that Dodd wasn't lying, that he fought to keep the restrictions on bonuses in, but it was Obama/Geithner/Summers who said to remove the restrictions. In fact, no one knows who did it but everyone sure wants to know.

So Obama's outrage is really really faux, Democrats are eating each other, Obama is making an enemy of Congress, the transparency of his administration is being questioned by none other than the lefties, the lefties in the MSM are being called dummies and enablers for bashing Dodd instead of prying into Obama's administration, and all hell is breaking loose.

as some of you regulars may remember, i am taking a couple classes at a local JC, and there are some really interesting people in my class... this is one of the gems that has appeared in my Law class, in response to my excoriating Ear Leader over his plan to bill private payors for service related disabilities.
(yes, i called him Ear Leader there in the quoted sentence, but more on that later) i've typed a reply, but i thought i'd troll for suggestions before sharing my as yet unsent reply:

Mercifully Anonymous(2:12 PM PDT) "What Ear Leader and his minions have proposed is to push the government’s obligation to pay for service related injuries and medical conditions off on private payors." Is this really a well thought out question? Doesn't government get it's money from private tax payors? Better yet, what is the definition of a government? The goverment is suppose to look out for the people it governs. This includes vets, senior citizens, children, the feeble, CITIZENS. And for someone to have no problem with financing a war they should also expect to finance all of the expenses that result from that war, especially on the behalf of the men and women that risk their lives.

my planned reply, since the interest is *so* underwhelming:

Merciful: “Private Payor” is a term of operational art in the health-care field, with a specific meaning that has no relation to the definition you appear to have given it in your response. As such it is difficult for me to formulate a reply, since your basic structure is unsound. However, you are somewhat correct in asking: “Is this really a well thought out question?” because my sentence that you quote is a declarative one, and therefore it does make a lousy question.

As for what our government is supposed to do for the citizens, I will simply refer you to the preamble to the US Constitution: “We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

There is nothing in either section that has anything to do with the government taking care of its citizens, except by providing a stable environment for them to take care of themselves. The forms of government that “care for their citizens” are socialism, fascism and communism. Since we live in a democratic republic, it is neither the job, nor the purpose of the government to “….look out for the people…” The government derives its powers from us, not we from it. We are entitled to pursue happiness, not have some government-approved version of it provided to us, whether we want it or not.

Lastly, I thank you for agreeing with me that the plan by your president to abrogate the government’s responsibility for caring for military personnel injured in its service and foist it off on the private sector is wrong. It appears that this blindingly obvious fact has even penetrated into the White House, since on Monday the plan was going forward regardless, and today they’ve suddenly decided that maybe it’s not such a good idea after all.

I hate cats.
I was sitting on the couch at a friend's house and his cat was walking across the back of the couch and lost it's balance and fell, latching its claws into the nearest thing available, which was my shoulder.
Tetanus shot and stitches ensued.

A friend almost died from cat scratch fever.
Over a week in intensive care.

Filthy things who walk around in their poop and gather it on their claws in the litterbox.

He is the stereotypical left-wing radical, bearing a superficial resemblance to Abbie Hoffman or Jerry Rubin.

* Fat Freddy Freekowtski is the least intelligent, and can be seen as an embodiment of pure appetite. He is fat, or at least plump, with curly yellow hair. He regularly gets "burned" on drug transactions, and when he does "score," he usually manages to lose the drugs in various ways, such as by dumping them out of a shopping bag in front of a fan which then blows them out the window onto a police car. Her favorite place to sit is between me and the computer monitor. She gets crabby if I scratch her, though. I guess we're supposed to just gaze upon them... in awe and reverence... but do not touch! And more tuna, please!

The World's Greatest (In His Mind) Bug Hunter likes to sit on top of the computer monitor, with his back to me, his tail hanging down in the middle of the screen. Do I evict him? No. I just move the tail from one side to the other as I read across the screen. Occasionally his buddy, The World's Friendliest Cat, follows his example, although World's Friendliest more generally likes to climb up onto my shoulder and cling there, making it hard to type.

No, I actually saw his band in concert in the late '80s. They opened for Iron Maiden. I'm not saying his band selection was great, but that guy can beat the hell out of an axe.

Damn Cat (that's her name) will climb on my lap to sleep when I'm watching TV. When I come home in the evening, she waits for me by the door so I can pick her up and carry her around the house. But when she sits in front of my computer, all regal and Egyptian-like, she gets huffy if I scratch her ears.

The problem is that I have/had 2 FaceBook accounts - one as little oldlady, and one with my real name. They leeched into each other - somehow.

OK (for your daughter to work with), looks like there may be three accounts, then...
- One for "little oldlady," one with real name and city but no avatar
- One with real first name/last name
- One with real name including middle initial, a Southpark avatar and your city. The last one is the one I sent friend request to.
